It’s too bad I never got to see it operate at MCRM but hope to see it out west someday. Seems like such a neat engine being such a light-footed 2-8-2 with the boiler tube whistle
In cold weather service steam from the locomotive would be used to keep the tender and water lines from freezing. Typically the fireman would have controls for the steam heating of oil or water in the tender. Engineer Ken Ristow mentioned some of these controls for this purpose at 21:46. Thanks for watching
This was very enjoyable and unexpected to see. A very great little virtual trip. Out of curiosity, are there any early BNSF (1998 - 2004) adventures you have not yet produced?
Glad you enjoyed it. I do have quite a bit of BNSF footage in the Minneapolis St. Paul area and specifically Dayton's Bluff in the 90's and early 2000's. I don't have a timeframe for this project yet. I also spent time shooting around University Ave (Twin Cities) and this would be a separate project also (Don't know when I'll get to this). Thank you for watching 🙂👍
@@pletsexpress You are welcome for watching. Along with Pentrex your DVDs were my childhood. So was the St Croix and ND coal line the main ventures you took onto the mainlines of the BN(SF)? I ask because it is not often you can talk to the people that created your favorite adventures.
yes I too look forward to that. It's such a fun place to spend a day. Was very pleased to hear about the very generous donation of $95,000 towards restoring the MILW 988! www.midcontinent.org/milwaukee-road-988-receives-major-gift/

As of now undecided. I'm looking at an entire box of video tapes full of WC footage and getting ready to digitize into the computer. For now this will be enough to occupy my time lol Thanks for watching Thomas!
@@thomasblack736 I think a third video on the Wisconsin and Southern would be another good choice to do. From Watco acquisition in 2011 to today with Soo Line 1003 in it too.

Whistle was from kgbw 49 iirc
I have a question. How do you keep the water in a steam engine from freezing?

Hopefully I can go back to MCRM again once 1385, 988, and MW 31 are brought back to operation.

@@pletsexpressA suggestion, but maybe the Fox Valley and Lake Superior?

@@thomasblack736 Ummm….I’ll let them choose the next one, but possibly a video that covers C&NW 1385 around Wisconsin
