That intro brought me back. I was always more into all the fun modes. Minigame, jail, surf, zombie escape, gungame, ... It was really sad to see the servers die one by one.
yeah, ive been playing since 1.6 its still hard to get myself in the competitive mindset sometimes. i could spend days on xc servers i hate how they turned into kz
Someone who uses Leetify is probably also more likely to play on Faceit, since they're more serious about the game, so I think the actual number is smaller, still really surprising that it's anywhere near that high.
I mean yeah it wouldn’t scale to the total count but if leetify tracked 150k on faceit alone out of 680k from their data on a day where 1.3 million people played, while it might not lead to 250k count, it would still lead to 200k, which is a very significant number since that would be around 15% of the total player base still.
What a trip down memory lane! This was my life from '02-'10 trying to find matches for my clan. I often wonder if anyone ever took over our old channels. I still remember the chat scroll in #pug and #findscrim being nuts! Everyone trying to post flashy posts to get scrims fast, advertising their CAL rank, people typing MM2 in game chat, and Lo3 scripts... We were all digital cowboys back then cruising the unknowns of the internet... Man, what a time to be alive!
mIRC quakenet #pcw: 5on5 on high - good times Great video as always Jeff. I wasn't actually that surprised by the numbers after seeing your Tweet about it, but it's very interesting to see how much it really is...
Man, those ESL ladders were great when you had a group of mates. A lot more engaging than Faceit since there were no individual ranks, just team ELO. Rising through the tables was so motivating.
Two things you missed in your statistical analysis. The number of players in that 1.3M that are only playing casual / DM and the number which are bots farming hours or xp.
bro PCW days were insaneeeee so much fun, but everyone lying about their skill level (or they just didnt know what they were) High skill was such a huge range, like i felt like pubstomping some games and other games were literally playing against top 20 teams
Is it possible for you to distinguish between regions your faceit/premier player count? It feels like no one queues for Faceit in NA. On a weekend in the afternoon I'll only see about 1-3k players in a match plus in queue. While premier seems to always have people queuing. Something else to add is that I'm rarely running into obvious cheaters in 20k premier elo. I saw one before the armory update but they were quickly dealt with.
All of that shit has ruined CS. The good old CS that I remember is the one you explained at the start. Just hopping on the local community server of our town, and playing all day. And when you get bored, there's zombies and deathrun. Fuck this bullshit with queues and MMR and tryharding.
I would think that Leetifiy would track a bigger percentage of FaceIt matches than they do of Valve matches, as I would feel that someone who is playing on FaceIt is much more likely to also track care about tracking their matches.
Valve should force Faceit to support Linux devices. The game itself suppports it and Valve in general supports it heavily with all their games being available on Linux and them doing so much work towards playing Windows based games on Linux devices. It really sucks that the biggest external matchmaking provider from CS doesn't support it.
I heard the AC runs at the kernel level and some code needs to be merged to the kernel in order to make it work. It’s unlikely though, maybe that’s the reason why Valve’s anticheat system is such a crap
It aint happening lmao. Linux kernel is open source, anyone can change it as they want and run a modified kernel. If they do try to support it they will just open the gates to a whole new wave of cheaters on faceit
Valve cannot force faceit to do anything. They're a private company literally doing their job for them, so realistically how could they have any control over them
Judge your own skill. You probably think it's high knowing all the hours you've put in. Now judge your skill when thrown into matchmaking and knowing that you'll face enemies of whatever skill you say. Now it's probably rather low all of a sudden. It's very hard to acknowledge your own actual elo that you're confronted with every day. And much much harder to accept and apply this concept of elo when it comes to matchmaking.
@@nadvic1797 That's true, especially back than it was harder to judge your skill when there were no ranks or elo. I would never searched for high or even today think i am a good player, i was always mid 😃
the player database ( at least accounts ) it's in the order of milions. a friend of mine has level 2 and he is rank 2 million something in EU. Adding up the other regions it has milions of accounts and most likely a quarter are real
So around 800,000 people in total play some kind of matchmaking premier/faceit every day in average - make sense that its around 400,000 case farmers on all casual servers like DM servers

Bro the steam chart is not for daily unique players it tells you how many are online at the same point in time. So your math is maybe not mathing 100% or do i missunderstand something ?
I wonder if more people use csstats vs leetify and if it would show more data. Also if we subtract all the cheater matched then faceits percentage would be even bigger too
We need to separate CS into generations. I’m first gen, started playing in 1.3 and it was even different still from GO. And people don’t even talk about CS Source anymore.
Crazy to see the influence 3rd parties have had in CS since the early days. Happy to have provided some data for this!
You are the best , wish your rating became the official rating
yo is my stats xd
I was worried I’d only be a data scientist in my 9-5, but Leetify delivered
Cs itself started as a 3rd party mod of half life.

Yeah Valve said 6 years ago during the VACnet talk that there are 600K 5v5 matches daily and the game grew since
Actual number for what?
@@shadoninja Faceit players. Should have clarified in the original comment, sorry.

Just Imagine if valve would´ve bought Faceit (incl anticheat) instead of ESL/saudis and build an ingame matchmaking people can actually enjoy.
I think the “improved matchmaking” you mentioned at the end is just referring to what we already have with premier + visible ELO

Leetify doesn’t give personal stats for faceit matches so there is no point for faceit players to connect their account to leetify
