God I love how experimental you get. Ever since i watched the OCD video you released years ago, I’ve been a massive fan. You got such a knack for content creation man. Keep it up ✊
I recall back a year or so ago when you mentioned TH-cam suggested you include your face more often in videos...despite it having nothing to do with the content. Glad to see you're having fun with it at least.
At some point he just decided higher effort videos weren't as worth it. He was also covering a lot of things that nobody else had covered before and these days those kinds of videos are harder to do and not as worth the amount of time it takes.
I think one of the main reasons why teams appear to be playing less counter-strike is the increase in prep work they do before each game/tournament compared to early csgo days where they would just get into multiple games with little prep work done
I like to imagine this is how Phillip records all his videos. Dressing gown, reclining and with all the classic facial expressions even though we usually don't get to see this!
Despite me trying, it seems I don't even watch these vids for what the video's actually about, This recording style and editing is entertaining enough for me.
the mouse scrolling the text to read is cool, cant stop looking at it for some reason (pretty big assumption imo but i like the image of it, the simplest teleprompter possible)
I have an idea that top pros appear to play fewer maps due to the franchise systems run by blast and ESL, meaning they are playing in less qualifiers for events. Will be interesting to see what the rounds played look like next year when there will be more open qualifiers which pros will have to play through (in theory, I know the valve rankings will give the top teams invites anyway.)
philip feels like a fun uncle is but then randomly stares into your soul and whispers the secrets of the universe but acts like nothing happened afterwards
the audio dips weirdly around 1:25 and 1:50, auto ducking too harsh perhaps? also caboosing jumpscare nerfed :( on the topic of the video, its really interesting ive pretty much quit cs since 2 years ago, you're probably the only cs content i watch anymore still nice seeing someone nerd out and spreadsheet just random things from the game, those graphs are my fav part of your videos
This trend is explained by the increased competitiveness of pro cs2, more players and teams are now fighting for a similar number of play.off spots in tounaments. The introduction of MR12 has also made bo1 upsets more common, further spreading matches among a larger pool of teams. On average this means all teams get to participate in fewer tournmant games per year.
Really enjoyed the analysis, I think the popular implication may have been "pros do not like CS2" which is generally inaccurate thanks to your analysis. Recently, the cs scene has had a large emphasis on building strategies, peaking on the correct date, and mental health. Maybe the truth lies within teams focusing far more time on unofficial scrims offline or even on alt accounts. Nonetheless I really appreciated this video since posts like these massively oversimplify trends across many fields.
I like to think that the only times he went full screen on the graphics was when his eyes went way too far off to the side to read the script that it was obvious and he didnt want us to see that.
This may not be a topic you’re interested in covering, but I’ve found that playing premiere is far more stressful now than it was in csgo, and especially more than traditional comp was. Is this simply a case of rose tinted glasses, or a result of the way the new rating system is calculated? (It often feels like one lost match starts a slip to fall down over 1,000 points, which I think contributes to the on-edge atmosphere)? Or, is it simply the result of CS2 lacking all of the casual game modes (demolition, flying scoutsman, danger zone) that balanced out the competitive nature of csgo? Just food for thought. As always, great video, really enjoyed the inclusion of ghosts.
Interesting how the most games played in 2018 translated to arguably the greatest couple years of pro CS during and after 2018. 2019 might have been my favorite year in PRO cs ever.
When MR12 was introduced it was touted as making scheduling easier for events, making for less boring blowout mathmaking games, and enabling events to have more BO3s and BO5s instead of having a lot of BO1s in groups and a BO3 finals. Now we still have BO1s in groups and BO3 finals and we just have more downtime with "analysts" waffling and more advertising. Thanks Obama.
Something about your audio mixing/compressor settings seems to be slightly off here? Not a big problem but a bit irritating. It's better in the second half, around 2:40 is a pretty noticable example
I think the reason is because there are more active pro players and teams and limited events so that the official game each player plays decreased. Back then the total team is like 8-9 big teams that gets invited to every event, now there are so many of them that it's naturally slowing down as the game grew bigger I think, idk maybe coldphilips may know it more
mate, your content is amazing, has been since I discovered you like 6 years ago, but so many people hate AI art that it's sadly a choice between using it or not suffering in terms of viewership
The main reason why top players play less officials is because of partner leagues. They don't have to play any online qualifiers anymore, they just travel from big event to big event. Meanwhile tier 2 teams are playing more official games than ever because of CCT and the rest of the online tournaments that are happening constantly. It's gonna be interesting how these numbers shift after partner leagues are abolished for 2025
I think less top tier events being online has affected this. E.g. ESL pro league used to be a big online league but is now a shorter format with studio games
Bigger pro tournaments no longer really have full brackets quater finals. The best team usually go straight to semi finals. Another guess would be loser/winner brackets playoffs not really a thing anymore, which i think resulted in more games.
Here's my take: Back in the days there used to be _a lot_ of round robin as the format in group stages. With todays swiss setups less matches are inevitable.
I think what has happened, is there are more than ever competitive teams that often manage to break into to the top spots. As result when teams like M80, OG, B8, 9z etc. manage to take down a higher rated team, it decreases the amount of rounds played by the top 75 players.
If pro's are always switching teams, then what are we cheering for during matches ? A temporary team ? A name ? An org ? The one player who's been there longer than the rest ? 🤔
i think they should add horses to the game
As someone playing RDR 1, I agree.
only as golds tho
They should also sell horse armor dlc!
