The OG's had a forefoot zoom pod too, but Nike skimped out a couple of years ago, 2017 to be exact and put foam in the forefoot. Chinese bloggers at that time actually uncovered that fumble by deconstructing the shoes, and when that happened, people who bought the 15's (from that previous retro) cried out since Nike described the shoes with having both the forefoot and heel with Zoom Air on their website. What happened next was, Nike actually offered refunds and an additional 25% off for all those dissatisfied customers.
I'm one of the weirdos that actually like 15s for being so different and think they look great on foot. That being said, I never wear mine because 15s are hands down the most uncomfortable shoe I own and my chief complaint is that raised arch in the outsole. 😂😂😂 appreciate the breakdown.
They are so underrated and like the Kobe1 and 2, they were ahead of its time (they still are). I fell in love the moment I saw them. To this day, is one of my favorite Jordans ever.
This is my fear with any older shoe being reproduced. That they take out the bits like zoom air and replace them with foam or other inferior things to cut costs.
@@mikekirby2085 no I did it’s just wildly stupid to take one model and then not look at every other retro Jordan does and how they’ve been all made exactly the same way for DECADES.
I have in recent years bought re-do's of airmax 95 and 97's. The insoles seem to be really flat and semi uncomfortable to how I remember them at their original time of release. Maybe time/alcomahol/non-prescription mind-altering substances have altered reality, I'm not sure. Anyone else remember if things were curvier inside back then? 🤷♂️
I have to say that the design was pretty ahead of its time. The Yeezy 700 V3, the Yeezy QTM, the Harden Vol. 7, and the AE1 all look a lot like these (minus the weird top of the tongue).

Had these from when they came out and used them for high school basketball. Some of the best basketball shoes I have ever had. I remember it was like having your ankles taped so I never rolled one in them. Not sure if they helped any aspect of my game but I never worried about something I couldn't do in them... and they were definitely one of the most comfortable shoes after you fought them alittle to get them on. Definitely felt like the perfect glove.... if I see them in black on black definitely getting them again....
More sneakerhead breakdowns please, loved this. For me the 13s were the last of the OG Jordans. Also waiting for the inevitable Jordan x Rose Anvil collab.
It's nice seeing some love to a Jordan model that's infamous amount the sneaker community. They aren't BAD shoes, but suffered from not having MJ's direct input. They're really clean, that's kinda what i liked about them. I wish i had gotten a pair back in the day.
Thanks for this video. I actually love the 15 and own an all black pair. I agree they aren't super easy to get on foot, but have always found them to be a comfortable wear, definitely more comfortable at first wear than Jordan 1s. This may be partly because they are so lightweight though
I dont know why, I hated 15 when the 1st released to the market. I still remember I hated that because of the tongue, as I wear a lot of long pants when I was a teenager and that year I bought Jordan Team J instead of 15. Now, not sure the reason why, the 15 is not as ugly as I remember 😂
I would argue that the Cordura mesh on the Air Jordan XI was really the first idea and iteration of knitted materials as the base of a basketball shoes upper
i don't get the hate with someone else besides Weston doing reviews on this channel. I like Collin, and was missing these kinds of videos on the channel. I know after Jordan's 2nd retirement, a lot of players were wearing the flagship shoe, i mainly remember Reggie Miller wearing the 15 during the 2000 NBA Finals vs. the Los Angeles Lakers. Also when Colin mentioned the forefoot zoom unit being missing, it made me wonder if the most recent 15, the Billie Eilish Collab had the missing unit too
I remember Reggie Miller wore the XVs in black colorways during the 2000 playoffs as the Pacers eliminated the Bucks, Sixers and the Knicks and in the 2000 NBA Finals vs Kobe, Shaq and the Lakers where the Pacers lost in six games.
Its such a great looking shoe in black, but is also the worst shoe I've ever worn on the court. I had a pair of the OGs and I wore them on the court for maybe 20 minutes. I wish they performed as well as they looked.
The hate has honestly worn down for these nowadays but I feel like they were hated the most because they came first after Jordan brand split. Imo some of the even later ones (19-23) are far worse for casual wear and look more like strictly hooping shoes
Idk who said them shoes are ugly everybody's had them went the came out back in the days I had the navy blue and black ones . I used to hoop with them . If u never own a pair don't talk about it.
This was the Jordan that made me stop buying Jordans. I literally bought every Jordan in all 3 original colors from 1991 until this thing came out. It was hard to get on, the sole was rock hard and in an attempt to prevent supination (rolling your ankle outward) it forced you to over pronate - forcing your ankle inward. Plus it was just ugly. There's a reason they don't release any retros after the 14. These suck. Full stop.
Appreciated the info, but with all due respect, the host sounds too much like he's reading off a teleprompter. It distracts me from absorbing the information.
I remember when these came out. I've always had many Jordans but these were so butt ugly they were never a consideration and I only ever saw someone wear them once. IMO they got them perfect with the 13s and as far as Jordans go, those are the ones to get.

You can tell by the burn test that there is very little if any kevlar in that blend. At least in the top layer. Kevlar doesn't melt.
Jordan 15's are my favorite and fit today's style more than the baggy outfits of the late 90's early 00's
