It's time I tell you all something. I have a thing for sneakers. I have about 200 pairs screenshotted in my phone and I stare at them reguarly. Something about them, man. Anyway, today we are looking at one of the greatest sneakers in the world. Not Nike AF1's, not Sambas, not even good ol' Stan Smiths -- today, we're looking at a brand called "Feit" and one of their flagship offerings, the Feit Classic Lows. Made from horsehide, vegetable tanned leather, and completely handsewn and handlasted -- these babies will set you back a pretty penny. But boy oh boy are they nifty.
Thanks for watching, talk to you soon!

The Iron Snail is a men’s fashion vlog starring a young man named Michael and featuring a snail no bigger than a quarter. The two are set on taking over the world of fashion by creating a clothing line to end all clothing lines. Until then, we’re here to tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about the best clothing out there, from the highest quality raw denim jeans to the warmest jackets to the sturdiest boots…the Iron Snail has got you covered. (written by Taylor, though Michael is sometimes known to talk about himself in the third person… xoxo)
Edit: ur all making me self-conscious about my squeaky shoes
*For “The World’s Most Fantastic” series what brand or product would be fun? Hender Scheme? Crown Northampton? The Real McCoy’s? Lemme know!*
Vollebak making very overkill, very expensive, very experimental clothing. They have a few different lines, and each give a very detailed description on the extremity of the lengths Vollebak had to go to achieve their vision.
If you are traveling the world, I would check out Geoffrey B Small! He is super artisanal. He personally has input on every single article of clothing that comes out. He does interviews inside his own shop. This clothing brand puts out about 1,200 articles of clothing every year, which makes it extremely expensive, but also arguably the highest quality clothing on the planet.
TBH, you lost me at made in China. I just can't see myself paying $850 for shoes made in China, even though I know this is a high quality product made with vegetable tanned leather. I just don't believe that this shoe can only be made in China. High quality footwear is being made in the UK, US, and Canada in this price range. They probably just can't make this shoe outside China and realize the same profit margin for the seller.
I'd rather buy made in England sneakers from Crown Northampton or Goral and pay ~half the price. Would be nice to see a video on Crown Northampton.

The squeaky remind me of my all rubber converse rhat have candy colour😂
I have their FEIT Low Latex. The adhesive of the outsole separated within a year of ownership, around the heel cup. They currently do not offer a repair program and do not sell the outsole for local cobblers to reattach. So I had my local cobbler add some cement in the spots where it separated.
The cobbler told me that the latex is drying out and will crack over time. When that happens, FEIT currently doesn't offer any option to continue repairing these shoes. At these prices, I'd argue that's pretty disappointing. Everyone should know they don't offer a repair program right now.

That is why Quality shoes dont use glue.. It is designed to fail in a short time frame.
This is sad but good to know-if this comment isn’t at the top I’ll pin
Similar experience a few years ago, on a pair I got on sale. After multiple temporary glue fixes, my cobbler eventually just sewed the foxing tape on, which solved the problem, but… looked terrible, because the seam wasn’t very even. I got them hoping I might save money in the long run, but definitely didn’t.
They have always looked gimmicky to me. Now hearing how much glue is involved and no repair options offered, I can happily stay away from these shoes.
Your hairstyle in the beginning looks like if ace ventura and wolverine had a baby
Honestly that’s very accurate
Dylan Moran as Bernard Black in the cult classic Black Books
In a good way too, he really pulls it off.
Lmao I had to go back and look and wow. Yep.
Haha, yes exactly!@@andreassundberg5636
Burnishing is the smoothing of the edge of the leather. The strip around the shoe is called foxing (similar to the white strip that surrounds the bottom part of Converse). With just glue holding in place, I do worry about failure. Well built shoes should be stitched to ensure longevity.
Foxing THANK YOU. I only said I assume they are burnished because it was on the goods & services recraft video but I didn’t think they were on mine OR it too marked from my using these in the woods
@@TheIronSnail You’re welcome. Love your videos - keep up the great work!

Very excited for the more regular content.

Dang you really blew up. I subscribed to you when you had less than 3k subscribers. I was always intrigued by your video presentation. Glad that you finally got your prestige. Don't forget where you came from, when you were just a small time youtuber.
I hope i never do! That’s my greatest fear
you'll be surprise that Asics actually have their own Walking shoe brand called Asics Walking, and in their flagship series the RunWalk, they created the perfect shoes with modern running tech for day to day standing and walking (they even engineered their dress shoes that can be use for running with gel tech), before 990v6 Loro Piana, Asics collabs with Corthay to make $1300 ish Asics RunWalk En Piste Sneaker with gel tech while using traditional hand welt construction like something you find in dress sneaker like Crown Northampton, and yes RunWalk series is all Made in Japan
That foxing looks like it'd be a real pain if you had to get them resoled. Having to remove it without the glue wrecking what's underneath and then trying to line it back up once done.
So, other than the foxing, they look pretty neat!
Yeah it's like converse i had to double stitched the foxing up and down to get it stick
RONE used to make similar looking shoes and used for promo the same asian old man who sat in front of peaople and sew the shoes by hand. Hender Scheme is similar in quality in my opinion, and there is a lot of Korean and Japanese brands that are doing the same thing from best materials and pricing is similar, so it is not true that this shoes could be made only in one factory in China.
Also thanks for this review, love your videos and your energy.
With love!
Denis
As a leather geek, I noticed these are not just vegtan leather. The leather that this shoes are made of is semi cordovan. Semi cordovan is a membrane on the flesh side of the horse rum that is super dense. You should make a video about shell cordovan leather gear.
Something new is always happening every 5 seconds in your videos, which makes them very easy to plow through
Is it just me or do these look like a low quality shoe and a ripoff? Come on? A sneaker made in China for $850 and it looks like it's falling apart on the seams after a couple months? If you want a cool looking sneaker that is made in Italy and is actually high quality for less than half the price, get Fracaps.
100% not for everyone, that’s for sure! I wish there were $500 or less ones made via machine stitching or whatever needs to be done since i like the style
That being said, Fracap is unbelievable
You are correct, this is a terrible value for a poorly assembled shoe. There are Chinese companies making shoes 3x nicer than this for $400
You should probably know that the “made in italy” label can be stamped after making “significant transformations” in italy. Oftentimes, european entities, dependant on country, will have blanks manufactured overseas (ex.Meermin) but have enough finishing details to qualify for the label of being made domestically.
Price reflecting, if it isn’t charging a leg for it. The “made in italy” is probably using blanks made overseas (not necessarily true when its expensive as Zegna is well known for manufacturing in China).
@@coopers1716some credit still ought to be given. It’s a whole piece upper and capable of hiding the welt without causing or creating significant deformation from the attached leather piece. I don’t think niche products like high end welted leather shoes should be attached to usual reputation of a country’s import quality.
There are most certainly outlier craftsman out there, for instance, flamingpanda makes MTO boots for an attractive price point in China and has a waitlist spanning a couple of months.
The biggest issue that faces resoleable sneakers (crown, goral, vivibarefoot, etc) is that their products are too individualized for any shoe cobbler to fix properly; must be sent to them to fix inhouse. Whether it’s a custom cup sole with a specific type of glue. Or it is a welting method thats a bit too “modified”. Yes, feit says its a “modified gyw” but many cobblers on reputable reddit threads have stated that it would be too financially unfeasible/impossible with what they usually have to properly resole feit.
I think it’s just you. These don’t look cheap or like they are falling apart.
"it's like a fish's life" is hands down your best line to date
FEIT, i saw you wear them in your photoshoot for your jackets, and thank god for this review, there’s no review for them online.
I was shocked there wasn’t yet!
Interesting shoes and very informative review.
I've come to the conclusion the reason why I love watching these videos so much is your filming style is basically like Wes Anderson which I love
Oh yeah of course! Good spot ninja.
Same! Its so relaxing and chill
It's not basically like Wes Anderson. It's not Wes Anderson.
It's his quirky personality that really catches our attention. Watching these videos with someone's else's personality just isn't the same at all. Would be very different.
@vlogsbyalejandro what a way to be a literal Negative Nancy I did not mean he's exactly like I meant it's in the same vein
Honestly those are so cool I don’t think theyre ugly at all. Seriously. I would wear them
Stumbled upon this channel. I really like this content and how you present the material.
Can’t really afford anything you showcase, but it’s fun to watch and aspire!
You should be recommended to fashion students as a resource !! Excellent sir !!!
My friend has one leg shorter than the other. All of his shoes look like those.
Love the channel, love the vids and enjoy your weird shoes.
Thank you! And your friend has nice shoes! I just saw Limmer makes some custom boots for people with different length legs btw - not sure if that’s fun to know or not
Interesting video. Thanks for all the details. I like how the look from the top down and Im curious how they will look in a few years!
Gonna need an update video.
Another tip top magoo video- thanks maan. How about Huit, denim made in Wales- it's good stuff
Really like how the Samara's are lookin'. Excited to hear more about them!
I have a pair of the classic highs and they are the dopest pair in my collection of over 100 sneakers. They quality is unmatched.
"You can't argue with me because I can't hear you" lol
Hoping for a review of Crown Northamptons as well.
I cannot stress how amazing your production value is.
That initial shoe reveal is hilarious. Laces just popping through punched holes and what looks like tape wrapped around the whole thing.
The absurd price-tag is exactly what's protecting these shoes from getting ripped on by the general public. Less exposure is a benefit.
I have this pair is cream/beige suede. I have put almost 8 years on mine. They have held up well. I got them at the NYC store on a sale for about $220 (new pair was $440 back then)
I love the idea of this series. Good time for the Vollebak sale to be on as I’m sure many of their pieces would fit!
I feel Zeha Berlin came closer to the old sneakers on literal way. This one's do have that vibe though going weary different route
Love the video, not the shoes. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Love yur stuff! Very silly funny and informative! Looking forward to the new series!
I bought a pair but they were too small so gave them to my mom and she loves them!!
i dont know what’s wrong with yall
i love em
Those look awesome!
Can you do one for Brian the Bootmakers Role Club boots? Ive always been super curious about them. He makes them in LA. The quality looks superb.
I LOVE YOUR BLACK TRAINERS!
im a boot guy through n through these days.. picked up like 12 pairs a quality boots in the last year.. GYW, stitchdown, rolled welt, etc.. so sneakers.., i sort of overlook now.. but these,, they're definitely nice.. certainly have an appeal... great presentation as always ✌
Been waiting so long for more Iron Snail goodness!
Thanks for waiting!! Trying to make it more frequent!
It's unusual for me to find a interesting channel that has: interesting content, nice editing and the exact dose of jokes.
All those new brands that i've never heard of are so cool and interesting due to the fact that every item shown it's made with quality in mind.
I was lost when i had to search for a brand that has styler but also enough quality in his products to lust more than a year of wearing. So thank you so much for showing us so many cool brands!
And i REALLY need to ask you a question.
Can you PLEASE make a video about Sweat pants? I really can't find a good piece of clothing that doesn't discolor in just 4 washes, the fabric make all those damn cotton pebbles.
It feels dirty wearing one of those 90$ Nike/adidas sweat pants even if they just come out of the washing machine. I really can't find a brand that does GOOD lasting sweat pants.
Please make a video about this topic man.
Those are the ugliest shoes I’ve seen this year and the price doesn’t make it better. I do approve the function over style but goddamn those are ugly.
Update I might buy a pair when I’m 50.
I am SO shocked people don’t find these as gorgeous as I do, lol!
@@TheIronSnail channels like yours is educating people on what good shoes are vs what is simply popular. As I get older I’m learning the good stuff is gonna cost money but it’ll be quality made and it’ll last you so good on ya.
They look a bit better w the vibram outsoles
@@FatherOmegathanks!! Appreciate the kind words
Also appreciate any feedback- not upset people aren’t loving these, I’m just surprised since I was nerding out about them!
these look like you could take a knife, slice it in half, and reveal they're actually made of cake, and I wouldn't be surprised because they look hand crafted (not a compliment)
10:07 Just want to point out that Crown Northampton absolutely does have wholecut, handsewn. Namely their "Upton Wholecut" and "Everdon Wholecut" sneakers. They even sell them in horse cordovan leather. Ive got them and they are the most premium feeling sneakers Ive seen irl

I'm excited for more of the most fantastic series, damn i felt like a bot saying that.
I wish so many shoes weren’t made of leather, it’s real hard to find any quality pairs without it
This guy,again.
Hello Favorito
Great video, I wonder have you ever looked into Crown Northampton, they make high-quality shoes, handmade (I think) in England, even made single piece cordovan sneakers?
Oohohohohoho just wait 2ish videos!
CNH FTW, best shoes ever made, period! They blow these clown shoes outta the water👊👊
Can you do a video about fatigue pants like the og-107 or the orslow ones?
I just got some from Bronson and love em'. I would love a roundup for more options! While vintage is great, it's hard to find your size...
@@jdlackey88 i got me the orslow ones and i like them pretty much
@@GabobStrulli I'd be interested in a side-by-side. The Bronson are aggressively priced but are suuuuper wide leg. The slimmer fit of Orslow looks good but I'd need to be convinced they are worth 4X the price.
Those are 🔥🔥🔥
I hope one day you'll cover some of the indonesian boot/leather shoes/loafer brands on your channel so our country can get known for something other than bali 🤣 amazing vid as always. I wonder tho if you worked or learned videography and editing a lot bcs your videos look a lot LOT like movie quality. The visuals are insane
Where is the opening scene cousin? Looks super cool
I love the idea of this series! I like the look of the shoe, but the narrow toe box of this style of sneaker would kill me. Also, the leather foxing would be destroyed by my clumsy feet always kicking stuff.
Was there a reason you didn’t compare to any of MIP shoes from Hender Scheme?
Amazing video!!
Love it and subbed
You viewers need to visit Rose Anvil where Weston Kay buys hundreds of pairs of shoes yearly, so he can discuss how they are made by cutting them in half lengthwise and really critiquing the guts of the footwear.
Weston is the man!!
@@TheIronSnail th-cam.com/video/DPTMgG1Asmw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZBkMA_pnlSBIW0Dr I think these are better sneaker, maybe do a comparison. They are the Crown Northampton's you show in the video. Me and my girlfriend bought a pair for her father, and they are fantastic.
I have aske Rose Anvil to get a pair of Feit and cut them in half. Nothing yet!
Didnt we yall come from him? Lol
Yeah because of rose anvil I know that I want a shoe like this but with a sowed midsole
The Ace Ventura hairstyle ... awesome.
I was waiting for the video to see how you make the shoes and I just talk we wanna see leather being cut ,,so people can relax
Very interested in your shoes, keep us updated, i’d like one.
You’re the best, mr michael. Where’s the light blue shirt from?
What about the hand sewn horsehide from crown north Hampton as a comparison? Would like to see that video
18th century drip is making a comeback I see
Samaras an interesting looking shoe and a Greek striker who was an enigma and loved as I hope your shoe will be
They are really nice shoes but i hate this concept where people like to take really expensive shoes and drag them through grass, dirt, shit and crease them all up and call it "pantina". I love the content! I like how you do your research on everything and correct yourself.
A good cheaper alternative would be Goral X Rose Anvil Smugs! Great company Im excited to see what you’ve cooked up with them
Hey I’m talking about smuggs next vid!
@@TheIronSnail I’ll be there :)

WORKING ON IT!! (That’s why the videos are coming out so slow)
I think I like them. Seems like they’ll develop charm with age.
YES new iron snail vid
WOO!
@@TheIronSnail Been binging your vids last two weeks getting ready for fall.
"Godt arbejde" from Denmark! :D
You have to do some reviews on Truman boots. They are really wild!
Hard to believe something this expensive uses glue only with no stich. If I were to buy expensive leather shoes like this I'd probably snag Corwn Northamptons.
What’s the link to buy these?
Crown Northampton is the No1 sneaker in the world. I’d bet/believethey easily beat these guys for detail and quality. Easily for overall style of trainer. Those are clunky looking. Crown give you a super sleek beautiful shoe unmatched. French binding done properly not slapped on like those in this video.
I have about 8 pairs of CH revving up for a video!!
I haven’t tried them, but Goral look very interesting too, especially if they are right about being re-soleable sneakers
💯
Very different animal - CNs are more about the upper, rest is just a casual sneaker. Feits are from a different dimension with its leather outsole and cork filling.
@@avavaviv1 crown uses cork as well, this shoe is inferior to crown especially the higher end models. This shoes claim to fame is the leather mimicking Vulc construction. Ugly and inferior especially at its price
Another Ironic Snail banger!
Thank you!
New character unlocked for The Iron Snail story, The Leaf Monster!
Coming to the shop this fall!
This one is the most interesting to me yet! Editing still throws me off but im sure it will be fine.
What woods are you prancing around in?
Even though the functionality and materials are fantastic, I still find the design and color unwearable IMO.
Really!! Too light of leather?
It's going to darken over time no doubt
@@TheIronSnailleather too light and I really don’t like the monotony or the juxtaposition of of the casual sneaker shape and the very formal and stuffy sole construction
@TheIronSnail I am just not a fan of all leather brown sneakers. I am 28 and I hardly see people my age with all brown leather sneakers here in Southern California. That's more for 50+ men lol
I agree, it's first the fact that it's monochrome, and second is that falt sole leather "covering" is not working for me... it reads cheap...
Intriguing product indeed. I can't justify soending so much but the prodict is absolitely outstanding. In a world where people drop similar prices for collectors sneakers whis should have waiting list and not be in stock.
Not being easily repairable, immediately makes them a "no thanks" for me. It's important for folks to know these things when the price tags get this high. Maybe keep that in mind for the next video.
Loved the video and are now a new subscriber to your channel…
There is a handmade sneaker nobody seems to care about but i really love the design…its a valentino garavani sneaker and its called the crochet 🧶…i love the looks but no reviews out there….maybe you find it interesting too…
I will bingewatch all of your stuff, really really good content…
Keep up the good work, thanks and greetings from the sticks of austria ❤^^
Hmm I feel like the benefits of Vibram are basically completely negated with a smooth outsole like this. You need at least some tiny lugs in order to get any kind of traction that Vibram is famous for.
I think we need more of the human touch in our clothing. It just makes everything just a little more authentic!
BS on they look at every last detail. The laces are so haphazardly put together. I'm not talking about this video (as you relaced them), but their own website. The leather patch that goes around the stitching not only looks terrible, it will wear faster. It's also not a good sign when you need to hide your craftmanship. Also, the website has an unusually high amount of typos and grammatical errors.
I love this company. I have their clogs, and they are beautiful
He's not sure if there are enough handsewers in Italy? How popular are these? Has he heard of Marche?
Very suspicious about his pricing if these were made in Italy too. Look at some "real" handwelted leather shoes that are harder to make for example Bontoni or Meccarielo. These go from 800-1500$. So 2500$ sounds out of place.
Oh and to add even more. Cork has some nice properties. But it's not "premium". It's just a filler material that is better at that job than synthetics. If it were better than real leather then bespoke shoemakers would use cork but alas they don't. It is quite good for insulation. But you need it because there is empty space not because it makes the construction more premium so to speak. As always: great video though!
@@teekue They are WAY better made, and the $1200+ ones are because they are either exotic or special leathers. His pricing is hype bullshit.
YO MISTER SNAIL I LOVE UR VIDEOS I WATCH THEM ALL HAHAHAHAAHAHA
THANKS LAKTOZE!
