In this week's video Wesley messes with his bike a little and adds some things. Thanks so much for watching and following along!

A good rule of thumb with that rear suspension is 1 inch or so rear sag, when brought off the stand. Then 3" of sag with the primary rider on board. Do one inch on the forks and no more. That's 3/4 more than you have in this vid. It will have zero impact on your signal lights and such. You will find that it also makes the bike turn sharper. A plus for you! You can then make the bike sag down a little more by turning down the rear shock's pre-load adjuster. Just turn a few clicks on the adjuster screws and push down and up, on the back of the seat. You can change how fast it goes down, and how fast it comes back up. All this makes a huge, huge difference for you! Hoped this helped. Good luck with the bike.

I took the lowering link off my xr. Even with the preload all the way down it was harsh. Much softer/smoother with the original link back in.

Well this is great because conservatively my height is 5'8" without shoes with some nice big shoes I'd be like 5'10" can't wait to get this bike brand new

Hey brother…that front bolt is inserted on the chain side from the factory. I don’t know why they did this. It was a pain to remove when I did my lowering link. Nice job

Great video, thank you for sharing, did either bolt interfere with the chain?

The Wild Roosters in Mexico are as Tall as an XR650L.

  • @abmivo6070

Im 5,7 inches I lowered the front forks a lot I don’t have a lowering link I just compressed the rear suspension and loosen the front forks, now I reach like you if I sit all the way up to the tank. a link would definitely help a lot on the stop lights or anywhere I need stand on the bike

it is more important to be able to flat foot the bike than suspension travel ! believe me !

  • @Mlyons419

how do you like that seat concepts compared to stock?

  • @gabrielhawk2449

    Love the flag

Great video. Thanks for sharing the info with us. I’m putting a XR 650L together for a Border to Border Continental Divide ride. The pros of the lowering kit are solid. Do you feel there were any Cons to lowering the bike?

I noticed when you sat on the bike that your rear spring could use some adjusting assuming you weigh about 170lbs…it looked a bit stiff for your weight. I lowered my front forks similar to yours about 1.25” rides level and stable.
