His voice is so hauntingly beautiful. It is so clear and the depth is amazing. This song is timeless, and most definitely speaks to the soul. Huge loss when he passed. R.I.P. George Michael.
He was only 17 years old when he wrote this song. He wrote it, sang it, arranged it and produced it, as he did all his other music. This man was a Mega Mega talent
This is one of the most wonderful ballads I've ever listened to. It marked the 80s. George was beautifully unique. He used to sing in such a way that his singing had you magically to start a timeless journey.
The ring was a gift from his mom and it fit his right hand better. George is amazing and so handsome straight or not. He came out later. I didn’t care. Love him. Great reaction!
So most girls loved him. He was not out then... His biography is very interesting. My best friend died a couple days after she went to his concert. So this song and others remind me of that time. I was supposed to go and couldn't. But have always loved his voice! Like I have said before his version of Somebody to Love is so great!!!! Queen wanted him to be their lead singer. He decided to continue his solo career. My brother in law came in the dinning room that Christmas Day and told us he died. I could not believe it at first. 2016: David Bowie, Glen Frye, Prince, George Michael... 😢 Wham is fun, but his solo career is 🔥!!!!!
He has the best voice ever. I was lucky enough to see Wham in concert in Houston. Such an amazing and energetic show. He will be deeply missed, But his voice will live on forever. Not many know this but George was a very generous man. Helping charities and individuals. God bless him. RIP George.
George was a brilliant writer, singer and great man, gave so much to charity that was not revealed till after his death, helped many people, such a loss. R.I.P. George Michael.
George wrote and produced this. Also played most of the instruments on the song. Originally, his record label wanted Jerry Wexler to produce this. Wexler was the legendary producer of numerous songs sung by people like Ray Charles & Aretha Franklin. Jerry's version was so bad that his label asked George to produce it himself. He auditioned 10 different sax players and played all the other instruments on the song. He was a genius writer, producer and singer and this is considered on the best pop songs of the past 50 years
He came out to his friends and family just before WHAM! split up, but his record company wouldn't let him come out in public for years. When he was caught cottaging in a public toilet in the USA, he released the single "Outside," one of the biggest up-yours ever. Worth a watch!
George Michael genius who wrote, sung, arranged, produced ,played most of the instruments and even part engineered some of his songs try spinning the wheel or cowboys and angels next
0:41 One More Try. Listen to One More Try. Please. George Michael has hits. He was impressive at every turn. His songwriting was top tier mastery. His voice was velvet. Such a huge loss. ❤️🙏🏾❤️🔥
And yes, George was in the closet for awhile. Most people were back then. Then, he released a song called Freedom and it was finally obvious and he was finally free. It’s a fantastic song with a great video. Iconic, really.
I turned thirteen in 1980 so I am an 80's kid. In response to questions Nick posed; George wasn't "out" at this point partly because he wasn't sure of his preference himself. He briefly dated Brooke Sheilds and reportedly his song "A Different Corner" was about her. DJ Kathy Jeung, who starred as George Michael's love interest in his 1987 video for 'I Want Your Sex', dated the singer in the late '80s for three years, when George was 24-years-old. The 80's was an incredible decade but the Aids epidemic brought uncertainty, bigotry and massive death tolls to the gay community. This alone kept many people "in the closet." Great video guys! Keep up the great song selections.
It was about 2 girls he was seeing cos there were girlfriends he said he wasn't sure he was gay he thought he was bisexual most of his songs were about some one or about him he was a genius and gorgeous
George will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Fall. This video has reached the 1 Billion views club. George's complete video is below. I would highly suggest you watch his live performance at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. It is unbelievable. For my money he is one of the best vocalist of all time. George can sing anybody's song and make it sound incredible but I have never heard anyone be able to due justice to one of his songs. His live performances are absolute perfection.
One thing I didn’t see mentioned is that his partner in Wham! was given writing credits on this track in an act of generosity by Michael. He knew it was going to be a hit and set his friend up for financial security. Very few artists who were gay in that era were out. For good reason. I loved his voice then and still do. Never really changed my mind about his music or Queen’s music upon learning Freddie Mercury’s orientation. Iconic, pure passionate voices. And they will be missed.
Fun fact: did you know that George Michael ( with his friend Andy as Wham) started his career in 1981 with a Rap song? Its called Wham Rap and it celebrates the fun of being a unemployed young man in Margaret Thatchers Britain beginning of the 80ties when economy was down...its just great!
This track was released in 1984. It's my understanding that he "came out" in 1998. Back in the 1980s record producers and film makers preferred the artists to not come out. Most probably having to do with sales. We are obviously in a much different era today. I do not believe that he ever got married. The ring on his finger was most likely a prop.
All of us have a cross to bear in life. This man gave us a lot of beautiful music. and had a beautiful soul. A beautiful voice. His cost: Public humiliation, attacks on his sexual identity, incessant demands and pressure on his career. He bore up as best he could, but fame and fortune took a great toll from him. Back then he couldn't put a man in his video, hard to do today. No, George never married, but back then I think he wore a ring to help divert any attention from his sexuality. None of that should even matter. Look at what he left us. A suggestion: Please review "A Different Corner". It's his best, in my opinion. Thanks, guys!
Great song from a great artist. Most people suspected George was gay, when Wham! first hit the scene, but we weren't sure. After all, it was the '80s and a bunch of male singers were wearing makeup and sporting wild hair; George Michael was not that unusual. Him having a girlfriend was even in the entertainment news, with her appearing in one of his videos. She was very hot, and he grew a short scruff on his face, making him look more masculine. Therefore, many people were surprised to learn about him being gay, especially in such a public way. But, his fans still loved him, and they always will. His se× life should have been no one's business but his own. But hey, we've still got his music!
Besides this song, others that come to mind when I think of GM are “Faith”, “Father Figure” and “Freedom ‘90”. Nick should know at least one of ‘em. ✌🏽
The greatest decade of music and movies in history will be the 80's. Most people did not know George wrote 95% if his songs. As to the others he co-wrote. With that beautiful voice he smoked two packs of smokes a day. If you ever got to go to his concerts even better to know him was a Blessing. Listen to him live.
Here something for U to think about; when Wham appeared on American Bandstand in 1983 and Mr. George was wearing the really short shorts everyone should have known then.. I like Mr. George, he is a great singer; I think "Careless Whisper is his best song.. ♠W.G.
Besides Gerry Rafferty Baker Street, this sax is known off the bat! In an early interview he spoke about this being about this was about his high school sweetheart and she knew about him before he was coming to terms with himself and his preference. This song had a special meaning to him because she was so important throughout his entire life and always maintained contact. That’s awesome. As far as the song it’s fantastic and the video was great as well. I agree on the studio version being too long and this is really never been known as a WHAM song. Even though it’s on their album. It’s great! So great and Everything She Wants is absolutely perfect from WHAM! So awesome and then his solo album Faith was absolutely incredible! Do more George Michael for sure!! On the gay note…he told Oprah after the huge arrest scandal that everyone thought Andrew was gay and he wasn’t. He married one of the Bananarama girls. He said specifically..”Andrew didn’t care what people said, but I was so confused because I’m in dayglow outfits. I guess no one wanted to accept I was gay at the time..including me”. An Edit here…Everything She Wants is about Brooke Shields. I don’t think they were married but I may be wrong.
As someone who enjoys all genres of music, that’s what I appreciate about these guys. There’s some level of balance here that you don’t always see on other reaction channels.
I can't believe its been almost 15 years since i saw him in concert he sounded exactly like he does on his albums live the studio did not have to help him out at all. He was in the closet for a lot of the 80's . His passing bummed out my Christmas I would have seen him many more times live if I could
George did all the backing vocals on this as well. Also, the girl in this clip apparently kept fainting while filming, he was that much of a heart throb. 😂 He didn’t come out until the 90’s. First he was bisexual but then came out fully some years later
GREAT reaction guys! I always refer to this song as being the sexiest song of the 80's. I can never hear this song too much. RIP George Michael. He is sorely missed...he had the voice of an angel. 2016 was a horrible year because we lost George Michael, David Bowie and Prince. 💔 I imagine they are all up there having a huge jam session.
George lived in the same building in West LA as a good friend of mine in the late 80s and EVERY time I saw him (albeit briefly) he had multiple incredibly good looking women with him and he was the nicest guy you could imagine....huge loss
George Michael has an amazing voice. His solo album older is completely amazing. You would not even believe how good he sounds and the song are Beyond this world.
Oh gosh this takes me back! George has such a smooth voice in every song he sings. His tunes were always on the radio. Thanks guys for reacting to this one!
I read an interview with him where he said this was literally written about a school dance where he promised his friend he’d go with her and took someone else (or something similarly simple) and he felt bad and wrote this on the bus at 17. ❤
George was a top top performer & song writer , he made many wonderful songs . I would suggest In a Different Corner may be even better than this may is the operative word here., but everybody should listen to 'Mothers Pride' it's George with his thinking head on. Glorious !
His voice is so hauntingly beautiful. It is so clear and the depth is amazing. This song is timeless, and most definitely speaks to the soul. Huge loss when he passed. R.I.P. George Michael.
🙏❤🌹George🌹❤🙏
He was only 17 years old when he wrote this song. He wrote it, sang it, arranged it and produced it, as he did all his other music. This man was a Mega Mega talent
Most people don’t know that he was actually a brilliant musician! AND he was absolutely stunning throughout his entire career!
he wrote this song in his bedroom when he was 17. the man was a genius. RIP George
Don't know what he looked like in later years but back in the day he was a stud!
I’m 31 and I’m attracted to him he really was a stud but I wasn’t born yet 😭😭
I thought he got better with age.. so handsome ❤️
Thanks for being respectful of his talent. He had a hard time coming out. It was a different time.
Fun fact, George Michael went through 8 sax players before he found one who gave him the sound he wanted.
17...he was 17 when he wrote this! "guilty feet have got no rhythm"... Sublime!
You guys should do his song "Praying for Time".
17years of age when he wrote this masterpiece and in this video 1984 only 21 years of age....❤
R.I.P George Michael
You can date this video by just looking at the Princess Diana's hairstyle on the girlfriend.
One of the very best songwriters of his generation. Such a phenomenal talent that we lost way too soon. RIP George, we miss you ❤️
Please more GEORGE MICHAEL!!! 😊😊😊
I visited his grave last December. I love him so much. ❤
Love him too. So sad he has passed❤️🥺
I was fortunate to see George Michael sing this song live in a beautiful outdoor venue at night in the 1980s. His voice sounds even better live.
George will be inducted in hall of this year in November. George was 17 when he wrote this song
the talent of this guy was unmatched
This is one of the most wonderful ballads I've ever listened to. It marked the 80s. George was beautifully unique. He used to sing in such a way that his singing had you magically to start a timeless journey.
You should listen to George sing 'Somebody to Love' at the tribute to Freddie Mercury from Queen.
You gotta do more George Michael! He crafted some of the most perfect pop songs and his voice is silky smooth perfection.
The ring was a gift from his mom and it fit his right hand better.
George is amazing and so handsome straight or not.
He came out later. I didn’t care. Love him. Great reaction!

My heart died, the day Prince died!
George’s passing really bothered me… all I did was watch his videos. So gorgeous and talented… 🥹
He recorded the best Christmas Song!
Mariah Carey has entered the chat…
He has the best voice ever. I was lucky enough to see Wham in concert in Houston. Such an amazing and energetic show. He will be deeply missed, But his voice will live on forever. Not many know this but George was a very generous man. Helping charities and individuals. God bless him. RIP George.

This song is AUDIO GOLD! It'll live on 4EVER!!!
So many great George Michael songs. Jesus to a Child, but my favourite is George but under the Wham label. A Different Corner.
George Michael genius who wrote, sung, arranged, produced ,played most of the instruments and even part engineered some of his songs try spinning the wheel or cowboys and angels next
Check out George Michael at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert singing Somebody To Love with Queen.

This song is AMAZING!!!!!
George got better and better after this.
I have this vinyl, love GM and Wham. This song 🎵 played at every single Dance during my middle and High School years
George Michaels “praying for time” and “ freedom 90” are awesome
I always enjoyed George Michael's voice. There are a lot of songs of his that you guys can enjoy.
It was about 2 girls he was seeing cos there were girlfriends he said he wasn't sure he was gay he thought he was bisexual most of his songs were about some one or about him he was a genius and gorgeous
He blew up the RB charts back then. This song fit yacht rock vibe too. Good choice!
Gladys Knight was pissed that George won a R&B award. Talk about racist she thought it should only be for a black performer.
Kissing A fool,Victims,KILLER papa...,Tonight,First time...Love is need...Waiting for thad day,One more try....❤❤❤

“One more Try” is one of my fave of his.
PHENOMENAL VOICE.
"The Edge of Heaven" by Wham! is full of energy and well worth a listen.
One thing I didn’t see mentioned is that his partner in Wham! was given writing credits on this track in an act of generosity by Michael. Michael ❤
One of the TRUE classics of the 80s. George Michael was a musical genius. And he wrote this when he was seventeen!!!
Loving how Ryan's upper body instantaneously went into turbo groove-move with that very first sax note😂😍💖
The best vocal performance I've ever heard from him was his duet with Elton John on "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me".
All of us have a cross to bear in life. This man gave us a lot of beautiful music. and had a beautiful soul. A beautiful voice. Feel like Freedom 90 is a good next song - his transition out of Wham and into the real George Michael - iconic in and of itself.
Can't make you love me from MTV uncut really shows what a beautiful voice he had.
These three make a fine pair😢
13:24 this part simply amazing
This is such a great song. His voice and soul, the sax, and the lyrics absolutely make it. "Guilty feet have got no rhythm." RIP George Michael
The banter between you guys 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Um dos maiores artistas que o mundo já teve Sinceramente, acho que será difícil aparecer um artista tão completo como ele.
George Michael was not out at the time. This song, video, his voice and style are sublime. I love to see men dress like he did, so sexy.
Please react to “everything she wants”. Awesome GM song!🎵
Loved loved loved his voice and thought he looked like a werewolf.
This and Father Figure are just great songs that stand out to me among so many.

This was THE slow dance song at all of my high school dances.

Loved this.. My first slow dance was to this song.
George lived in the same building in West LA as a good friend of mine in the late 80s and EVERY time I saw him (albeit briefly) he had multiple incredibly good looking women with him and he was the nicest guy you could imagine....huge loss
This was Shot in Miami , it was a two day Shoot. 👍

Now go for Fast Love. You'll love the groove and the video.

WHAM! had three albums Fantastic, Make It Big, Music from the edge of heaven.
The tremor in the force was never as loud, as the day all of the women in the world heard…………..
Another must see is him singing with Queen at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert he nailed somebody to love 75k was at Wembly stadium
Agreed! And ' Killer/Papa Was A Rolling Stone ' was also a magnificent performance!
George was a top top performer & song writer , he made many wonderful songs . I would suggest In a Different Corner may be even better than this may is the operative word here., but everybody should listen to 'Mothers Pride' it's George with his thinking head on. Glorious !
One of my favs from the 80s!
Beautiful soul with a beautiful voice you should hear him sing The Long and Winding Road. Anything he sings live is definitely worth listening to.
