Besides spending most of my time these days shooting my PCP air rifles, I'm a professional photographer so I want to tell you first of all the video production itself was perfect and I really appreciate that the audio is perfect everything was perfect and the topic and the explanations were also perfect so thank you. Let me know if you'd like an advance look on the Stoeger XM1 Ranger.
In general the 'diabolo' skirted pellet design doesn't do well if shot at supersonic speeds, it's better suited to subsonic. The shape is 'weight forward' with the waist/skirt adding drag at the rear of the pellet which helps stabilize it at subsonic speeds, but at speeds around the sound barrier the diabolo shape tends to lose stability.
Nice video Lauren. If you tune it down further to just under 900fps the groups will likely be 1/2" even further out. Most pellets start to spiral after 900fps. Spiraling occurs when the pellet loses forward speed downrange, but still has most of the RPM (spin) it started with because the RPM reduces at a much slower rate than the forward velocity does. This means that the pellet is spinning faster than it needs to, and gyroscopic effect takes over. To combat this you slow the pellet down as this lady did. You can also use a slower twist rate barrel and keep the higher velocity. Slugs are less prone to spiraling but have other challenges.
Jett Ferox well said.. So to fight spiral effect we have to: 1. Reduce the FPS if we use light pellet, 2. Use heavier pellet if we didn't want to change the FPS or 3. Use slower twist rate barrel if we didn't want to change the light pellet and the FPS. Is my opinion correct?
I believe thats what im dealing with have a gamo swarm gen 2 1300 w alloy 990+ lead pellets my gamo master country at 25 yds are like 4 in spread but if i use hunter dome shaped itll be half dollar at 100yds
I know from a previous video that you do competition shooting and your expression when you shot the bad group was priceless. Excellent explanation for us part time/ casual shooters. Thank you!
She taught me more in this video and the two shot scope adjustment video, then umpteen people just shooting random pellets, and yakking and yakking. Nice, way to go!!
I visit this shop regularly and even though I didn’t get my air rifle from them they’ve always been super courteous and helpful! I have a hatsan neutron star and from the factory on its lowest setting it’s shooing 25gr pellets at over 1,000 fps and I cannot get it to group for crap. Definitely going to go through these guys for my next air rifle.
Try using a heavier pellet. That’s a good velocity not that it means much when it comes to accuracy however a heavier pellet will probably get you a better grouping. Hope that will help🤞
Awesome video, thanks for the example of pellet weights. I used to be hung up on velocity from my airguns. When i first saw the pellets spiraling to the target and the groups were horrible , I had to search for answers and spend a lot of money trying different pellets. I would like to see a video about slugs and barrel diameters. Thanks.
Nice to know....great educational video and clearly demonstrates what is important when trying to be the most accurate. Who doesn't want that? Hunting or target...accuracy reins king.
Your getting it done girl! Good job !!! My 10 year old grand daughter watched your video with me and she completely understood it. Big fat high 5 to U! Thanks Pappy tried to explain V2X M Divided by gravities constant or 450240 and she didn’t understand🤷♂️ She got it when you explained it🤷♂️💯😂👍👍 Thank You🙏 Super high five!!!!
That’s a crazy how much difference!! My .25 definitely shoots way better with the 40+ gr rounds. If I use something sub 32 1 shot might be 6 in high and the next is 3 inches left and 4 in low. It’s cool to understand why now
Thank you, i had agood time listening to you , getting known those basics that makes big diffrence , but i wish you add the importance of the distince and how it envolved with speed and accurecy, and if you can mention the distence that you where shooting at that would be great. Thank you.
It is shocking how many sporting good stores try and push the extreme high fps guns. It is always fun to but in and correct them when they are talking to a customer.
A rifle that can shoot high fps isn't the issue. It's that like any rifle, the owner needs to experiment and find the ammo that particular rifle shoots consistently small groups. That MAY be a type of ammo that is heavy/lower fps OR it could be lighter and higher fps. Every rifle, even the same model, may prefer different ammo. This video clearly shows the type that rifle preferred. Another type of ammo of the same weight and fpe may group poorly from it. Thus butting in without explaining that, or saying a slower fps rifle is better, is simply being a knownothing.
The Speed can be higher if the Ballistic Coefficient is better and the projectile is heavier! This is the criterion for 1200fps! ~31-32 grain or more, and better B.C. value, more streamlined design!
Thank god for this intelligent lady , I was trying to put this into words from my nephew but this lady down it about 50 thousand times better , thanks you very much ,
The average punch speed for boxers is about 25 miles per hour. Since I know those speeds are possible I'll use that for an example. FPS is like that 25 mph punch. FPE is like when a skinny guy hits you in the face with his fist moving 25 mph compared to a fat guy hitting you in the face at 25 mph with a really large arm and fist. See the difference? The guy with the large arm is going to do more damage to your face because his fist has more energy due to larger mass. In this case, the terms weight, mass and grains are all interchangeable as they all are just different ways to describe the same measurement of weight, which is silly but that's how it's done.
The professionalism and the explanation on this topic particularly got me to smash! the subscribe button, for sure hope to see other such great and informative videos in the future.
When she shot the first grouping I almost left the video lol. Amazing to see the difference that pellet grain makes. Obviously she is trained and talented.
Looks like the first shot with 25.4 grain keyhole. Maybe just me. I shoot them at 890-900 from impact m3 700mm and get hole in hole fun at 50 yards all day. 100 yards is possible at that speed but lots of moa low. But 1 inch groups at 100 maybe 1.1 1.2 inch on bad day. In my gun at 950 they do really good at 50 but fall apart at 100. I guess that's where the red wolf shines over the impact m3. Great video ma'am.

GREAT INFORMATION THANK YOU LAUREN..👍🎯 WHAT WILL BE A GOOD PELLET TO USE FOR A AIR VENTURI AVENGER .22 CALIBER BECAUSE I USE 18 GREEN PELLETS AND IT'S GIVING ME OVER 1000 FPS.
Thank you, very informative video. I do not want to nitpick but the math problem challenged me so how did you determine that constant in the formula? I get a different constant when I do the math. The international S.I. Units in physics for kinetic energy are mass in kgs multiplied by velocity in m/s squared and this total is divided by 2. This gives you for example 74,69Joules energy. That's 55,10 ft-lbs. If I now take Grains for mass and ft/sec for velocity, I worked out that I need a constant of 450404 instead of your constant 450240. The difference is very little though but I was just wondering how you got the constant. Because with my constant I can calculate exact values up to 2 decimal places that can be crosschecked with Hawke ChairGun Pro software.
Nice Vid. i totally buy, in the airgun world, that faster isn't better but are we certain that heavier always is better? What would the resaults be better if you just turned down the power on your rifle for the first lighter pellet? Could you get equally good acuracy with a lighter pellet at slower speeds. It wouldn't surprise me if you'd get a substantial improvement at very least. I've always understood that the biggest issue for accuracey is when you are flirting with and crossing the sub/super sonic barrier.
Wow great video 🥰 Beautiful PCP air gun and beautiful 🥰 .... And useful informative video 👌 *Awesome* 👍 i love this TH-cam channel all videos 🥰🥰 like this....🌷🌹💐....... thank you_🤝 😎
Pellets don't like breaking the sound barrier, you should always make sure your gun is tuned to shoot under the sound barrier or lower the speed by using heavier pellets
Is it possible to fine tune this gun so that you can shoot the lower grain pallet @ 950 FPS? That might improve the grouping? Does this gun have consumer fine tune capabilities like the FX or it has to be sent back to you guys for tuning?

excellent explanation but you'd expect the second group shot slower with almost double the weight pellet to drop more and strike lower not higher?

there is a barrel, its accuracy will get down after each 10 shooting, then it need to clean to recover accuracy.should throw away it?
Is the daystate tuneable it looks like its over clocking for the lower weights
