People who say Waylon wasn’t a great guitar player need to watch this video. Those licks were pretty complex and he nailed them without missing a beat. GOAT
Thing is, he isn't really playing. The hands aren't matching what is really being played. There's walk downs and ups that "his" guitar is making but his hands aren't doing them. He just miming someone else playing. Of course Waylon could really play though!
@@kadeberrier3799 Yeah, I agree when he was playing Rhythm the little lead and walk down licks he wasn’t playing. But the solo on the second song I think he was actually playing. Because his hands actually matched what was being played, in my opinion.
No one says Waylon wasn’t a good guitarist at least not that I’ve heard. The man could definitely play with the best of em. Glen Campbell might’ve even been a little better
The network had Waylon change the lyrics of the last verse. Some gave Delia flowers Some gave her pearls from the sea But I didn't give Delia nothing Cause she belonged to me On the record he sings Some gave Delia a dollar Some gave her two or three But I didn't give Delia a penny Cause she belonged to me Based on the murder of Delia Green, December 25, 1900 in Savannah, Georgia. Delia Green was a 14-year-old African-American who has been identified as the likely inspiration for several well-known traditional American songs, usually known by the titles "Delia" or "Delia's Gone" or "Little Delia".
This is the same Delia that Johnny Cash sang about years later in Delia's Gone. Her murder inspired a lot of folk songs, but this the best version in my opinion.
Actually, Johnny did his first official cover of "Delia's Gone" in 1962. He did a few alternate takes of the song in late 1961 but kind of dropped the idea for another song
he didn't write it. it's an old bahamian folk song. george symonette recorded it in nassau in 1957 but it had been floating aorund for no one knows how long.
I do wonder if he had “House of the Rising Sun” in mind when he adapted this song, though. It certainly sounds similar. And different from the other versions of Delia I’ve heard.
I have two favorites by Waylon Jennings: Delia and Green River. Great songs 👏🏻🥰‼️ And, boy! Waylon and Glen were perfectly on sync playing that harmony. Actually through the whole song. Loved it 😻👏🏻👏🏻🥰‼️ But, who whitened Waylon’s teeth? Looks wrong!
Frank, I see your last name’s Hebner. I know that name from my childhood. My family and I lived in a place called Hebner Heights in my hometown a long time ago, 1960’s, I believe it was. Also, my dad a a baker and worked at a place next to our house called Hebner’s Bakery. I can’t even believe that I still remember this info after so many years, when I’ve forgotten so much more important stuff these days 🤔.
Classic episode! Waylon had a gap in his teeth! The producers of the show had the artist fill it with White wax before he preformed, Waylon always resented this till the day he died & said that Hollyweird those guys are worse than Doctors
Waylon's takes on Delia the old blues standard. With House of the Rising Sun melody, too much electric sitar for my taste. Glen harmonizes so well on For Lovin Me,
Both of these great performers are gone now but never will be forgotten 😻👏🏻🥰‼️
good lord what a voice!
And his guitar playing wow
There will never be another voice like his!
Love his voice on this performance, There is nothing this man can't sing
Best voice ever
Waylon can throw down... Love it!
When Waylon sang a song he owned it.
Classic Waylon good as it gets!!

@@KD_1989 I’ve heard a lot of people say he wasn’t a great player, just a unique player. Either way I love his guitar playing.
I LOVED hearing Waylon and Glen doing For Loving Me it has A BUCK OWENS groove to it sounds Great.
Rick, it’s actually a Gordon Lightfoot song 🙂! A lot of Gord’s stuff is straight-up Country & Western, like this 🙂.
Stone cold COOL! I tell ya!! Waylon was on point right here.

WAYLON 🇨🇱 JENNINGS 🎸

Same chords as "House of the Rising Sun". Love it!
Love the two guitars at 5:58....these two were a great duo and I could listen all night.
Man- that damn Waymore can SING!!!!
You could always tell when old waylon likes it! Lol. Always that little grin with a look.. that look made many a stars career in Nashville!

Excellence!!! What a hunk Waylon was!!! And Glen wasn’t no slouch in the looks department either!!!

Kade Berrier was gonna say the same thing. That’s true.
It’s giving ‘House of the Rising Sun”…❤
Thanks for posting this old video of Ol' Waylon.
moo
I hadn't seen this one before. Thanks. Delia's Gone is one of my absolute favorites.
Waylon must have been listening to The House Of The Rising Sun when writing this one.

@@kellyaiken7601 The House of the Rising Sun goes back centuries, it's an old English folk song. Delia goes as far back at 1900 or so.

ott. love that stuff.
Rockin' 58 WesTex Bud to WesTex Waylon, "Hoss, someday ya'll be reckunized in most fields."

There was a line in the Hank III song “The Grand Ole Opry Ain’t So Grand Anymore” That Mentions Waylon’s crooked smile.
Have not heard "Thats what you.... for some time. sweet
Back when cmt was good
Starting at 4:33, Gordon Ligthfoot's perennial For Loving Me.
House of The Rising Stars.
Thank you!!
Named after this song
Whoop whoop!

It's jarring to see him without a tele lol. He looks good with a semi hollow though. Just glad it wasn't a permanent look.
Dang his teeth are white!
There is a story about that where Waylon mentions it on the Opry Homecoming videos which was also attended by Glen.
In an interview Waylon says they put gunk on his teeth
House of the Rising Sun...lol!
The harmony overpowers the melody when they're singing together. Bummer.
Waylon sure has white teeth
I never tire of this and the Waltz Me To Heaven video! Glad you all are enjoying them!
