Just did my first oil change on my 2021 Ram 3500. With that little filter cap, I got the old one out without spilling a drop. Prefilled the new filter because... you know... it's MANDATORY in the book. Great video 👍
@@85Gute exactly... I wonder about potential denial of warranty for an individual that advocates against prefill on the internet and is located by the manufacturer. I believe deviation from the service manual procedures should be grounds for denial when the failure is directly attributable to the deviation. Just my opinion... I also am not swayed by the "don't pour into the center" crowd because I doubt the engine/lube oil system will ever experience cleaner oil than that from a brand new sealed container.

Thanks for watching. I’ve always pre filled the oil filter. I was surprised there were a lot of people that disagreed with it.
I fill it every time.
"Straight answer" -- the Factory Service Manual says to prefill, end of "controversy".
The idea of not prefiling is weird to me. I have always prefilled. I was surprised as the amount of people who don’t.

@@walterk1221 I absolutely agree.
You didn’t show any of the actual process, talk to much.
The video wasn’t supposed to be a tutorial.
