The truck driver dude forgot to mention that he left his wife 9 days before her getting their baby. He also said he wanted a van and she wanted an SUV. He’s been there and truly loves people enough to tell us the harsh truth. Thanks, Dave.❤️
Bought my truck in June 2021 for 29k and will be paid off September 2024. So happy ! All that extra cash in my pocket and it’s a Tacoma . Should last me 20 years !
I like it when you focus on the mental aspects of money ( eg paying off small debts will give you more hope and momentum; money is 80 percent behavioral, etc) because I think this has really helped me understand my relationship to money and I think it helps my kids to understand it too. I think most of my money mistakes lie in the category of not being purposeful with it, not knowing how to overcome the obstacles of online shopping as a sport 😂, impulsive shopping, distinguishing between wants, “need/wants” 😅, and wants.
Layaway was awesome! NO interest. You had to wait but it's that much sweeter when you get your items. Walmart used to bring that back every year before Christmas. It was good for poor people but I just started reading Total Money Makeover so I'm not gonna be broke anymore!

I wish I knew of you guys like 13-14 yrs ago. And I wish I had done things differently. I'm about $2000 away from being done with private student load. I did sign for a retention bonus (aka they pay my $20,00 of government student loan, I also work for the government). I need to be there for another 2.5 years (total 3yrs) to have it forgiven. My and my husband's cars are paid off but we still have a mortgage. I'm 35. I know I could've done different you and I had an opportunity. But it is the culture that we live in. It like, live today and think about the tomorrow, tomorrow. It takes some knowledgeable people who don't sugar coat things to see the real picture.
1:11:34 As a Bostonian who used to work at Dunkins, I can verify that. The only thing that really makes the drink is the shots/syrups. Otherwise you can make a nice Dunkies coffee from home.
My parents have talked about death and when they die my entire life. I'm very grateful that they were very matter-of-fact about the fact of life and death...
Worse advice every for the teacher choosing between $1800 a month for life vs a lump sum of $110000. Unless she happens to be in poor health or is upper 70’s. The monthly is the way to go and its not even close.
My first husband died at 59. My second husband died at 70. Both deaths unexpected. The folks in charge of the pension funds are betting you'll die young. If you have the lump sum, it's yours.
Every state is radically different. In PA your beneficiaries get the balance of your account when you die. Plus there are multiple options. If you decide to take your contributions and interest out day one as a lump sum payout, you still receive a monthly benefit that is worth around 70% of the benefit if you did not take the lump sum. Not to mention in PA we pay into SS so are eligible for Social Security. It’s like a different country in different states.
I was looking for this comment, that was horrible advice, she’s way better off taking the $1800/m and investing it. Dave is good at getting people out of debt, but not much of his investing advice is worth listening to.
Not sure why you think taking lump sum is bad advice. Lets think. If she takes lump sum minus taxes owed on that, she can invest the whole thing immediately into index funds and have decent return for years to come. Or she could take a portion of that and go ahead and pay off her house instead of waiting for 4 more years to do it. That alone is more money in her pocket instead of the banks.
I love the story around 3:31-4:01. I set up an "emergency fund", many years ago & when I was able to give the account a title/name/label/etc. in case I forgot why I had it made up, many years down the road, I called it the "G.O.K. Fund". My sister did the same thing with her "emergency fund", as well...
There will be no loan forgiveness. Ol Lyin' Joe doesn't have the authority to do that and the corrupt universities who SHOULD forgive the loans because what they paid for in most cases isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
oh my, when George mentioned waiting on seeing a dentist until you need a root canal, felt so called out! Just got my root canal for this exact reason :((
When TH-cam was for the 3 hours they filled some of the commercial time with Dave or George doing commercial type segments while driving the car and George doing the budget hacks. Never saw one with both of them though.
I have found this to be so true. It's ALSO an act of discipline. I have been following and practicing for way of living this way now for over six years. We are on track to pay off our 15-year condo mortgage by year eight (we are currently on year six of our plan.) TOTALLY GRATEFUL!
This is a year later and I'm seeing reports of pharmacies making deadly mistakes because of lack of help. My friend is a pharmacist with 3 stores and can't find enough help!
Exactly, that comment didn't age well. My youngest daughter graduated from pharmacy school last year and then did a residency year at a hospital which ended last month. There's now a shortage of pharmacists since they rang the doom bell for several years, and her hospital starting salary (which is often lower than retail) is close to 119k with full benefits (she only applied to one place), and her best friend from her class is starting in a niche job at more than 140k with a medical clinic.
I'm so surprised Dave never mentions the IRS has an online tax calculator that tells you how much you need to adjust the taxes withheld. It's very straightforward and far simpler than preparing a faux tax return.
@@jamesp9998 he said the IRS dependents thing is inaccurate. He said absolutely nothing about the IRS online calculator which is extremely in depth and is not about dependents.

With the man whose pregnant wife just bought a car without him. Not saying this is correct but she works a job, she's pregnant, and has a toddler to take care of by herself about 75% of the time. That woman made that impulsive decision out of stress and probably feeling overwhelmed. I don't think she was trying to be dumb or lose her mind. I just think she just wanted to make a decision and since they both were going back and forth about which car to get she just pulled the trigger to get the ball rolling. I hope this man sees that she wasn't tryna be difficult.
The husband comes across as aggressive and stubborn. I feel like he could be a bully and his wife felt that she needed to make a decision, and she knew he wouldn't listen to her side of things. I wouldn't take the 100 grand. I'd take the 1800 a month til I die. Unless there was something really sketchy about the pension, I'd take the 1800 a month. IN THIS CASE, the 1800 a month is just worth more than the 100 grand. Also, remember that Ramsey sells mutual funds for his sponsors. This conflict of interest may bias his advice.
A good friend and fellow teacher/principal took the monthly sum, not the lump of $500,000. He was diagnosed with cancer 4 months after retirement and passed away 3 months later. He received about $28,000. That's a difference of $472,000.

That money you invest… you want it to grow. You expect it to grow right? Well that growth is fueled by increased quarterly profits and financial performance by companies like Delta. If this relationship works, the stock price will go up. Your investment (if you own stock or an index fund which holds Delta stock) will go up. If every company acted with moral righteousness no stock would ever be worth buying.

Dave rolling up in his truck ordering a kids meal - hilarious!
I don’t make a lot right now, but I love listening to Dave talk about larger numbers so that when I do have more I don’t make bad decisions ❤ I love this channel
Yes, learn with smaller numbers. Doing the same 🙏

Love all the Ramsey personalities and all shows with Dave are better than without him but my favorite duo is Dave and George. George and Rachel are the future of Ramsey solutions, of that I’m convinced. Great show as always. Thanks Ramsey Solutions for all you do!
Delta= Doesn’t Ever Leave the Airport 😆
I love listening to Dave. Even after being debt free for years, doing it Dave’s way. His way works. Listening to his team helps me keep on track and fight back away the world’s way wants you to do it. Greedy and lustful after stuff.
It opened my eyes too😮
Layaway was awesome! NO interest. You had to wait but it's that much sweeter when you get your items. Walmart used to bring that back every year before Christmas. It was good for poor people but I just started reading Total Money Makeover so I'm not gonna be broke anymore!
Always great content, advice, and short, sweet, basic financial principles. That work every time if you just submit, commit, sacrifice, and live below your means. Thank you Papa Dave to you and the team for ALL you do GOD BLESS.
Could not have said it any better
Dave and George are my favorite one-two financial punchers team of all the combinations of personalities.
Thanks for all you do, gentlemen! I’m on BS6 and can’t wait to call in when I do!
I love George's comments to Dave😅
I was sad when he stopped being the person in the lobby, but then was so glad when he popped up as a co-host!

True words: how much you KEEP is more important than how much you MAKE.
Its true you want to have good quality stuff so your not worrying about things breaking down and spending more money over time.
George gets kids meal at chik fila. Dave's reaction had me dying for 5 min lol
Dave, you are 💯% right. Thank you . Your family's are the only one usally cares that much.
Worse advice every for the teacher choosing between $1800 a month for life vs a lump sum of $110000. Unless she happens to be in poor health or is upper 70’s. The monthly is the way to go and its not even close.
Exactly. I was confused by that advice, especially since most pensions allow for a beneficiary. If she doesn’t need the $1800/mo she can reinvest it.
I will not do loan forgiveness I will payoff my student loans 2026 is my year.
There will be no loan forgiveness. Ol Lyin' Joe doesn't have the authority to do that and the corrupt universities who SHOULD forgive the loans because what they paid for in most cases isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
Dudes! I love your comments about moving to the state and voting. Keep on! I live in Florida since 1984. Thank you God! 🇺🇸❤️🤙🙏
oh my, when George mentioned waiting on seeing a dentist until you need a root canal, felt so called out! Just got my root canal for this exact reason :((
I 100% want to see Dave and George go through the Chic fil A drive through and order budget meals 😂
Now that would be funny, I would pay to to see that.
Yeah they're always in the studio. Do they exist outside it? 🤔
Me too. Come on Dave ! :)
Delta has not LOST their way, Dave. This is THEIR WAY.
I would say the whole USA financial system is about milking citizens for profits… a way to hell… Zonbilands are living proof of it

I agree with the moving situation. Haha. Leave the bad stuff behind.
Omg I guess I wasn't kidding when I was younger and said "everything costs money, what's next? They going to start charging me to breathe?."
It's very straightforward and far simpler than preparing a faux tax return.
oh neat!
He did . He mentioned it at 1:31:40. He said it’s not accurate .
@@jamesp9998 he said the IRS dependents thing is inaccurate. He said absolutely nothing about the IRS online calculator which is extremely in depth and is not about dependents.

@@Harperrr.99 I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day invt decisions being guided by a fin-advisor, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using a fin-advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

There's a follow up to that story. I won't tell the end of that story
The husband comes across as aggressive and stubborn. I feel like he could be a bully and his wife felt that she needed to make a decision, and she knew he wouldn't listen to her side of things. His tone seemed to be "my way or the highway". I feel like there's more going on in their relationship than he's letting on.
Yeah that husband definitely left out some key information
I remember that follow up episode on the radio, but don’t know where it is on here. Anybody know the episode?
Half way through Ken Coleman's book. Very direct and encouraging.

Focus on ur family dw about wealth. Just apply dave principles and you will be fine.
Dave is wrong this time. She should take the monthly pension. 118k is a pittance, insofar as retirement is concerned.
50:40 Sadly, that is pretty common for healthcare workers. I worked nights for 3 years and messed my body up so much
I can picture Dave dancing around his living room to that intro music in his black socks
With these ads, I am going BLINDS
Lady would make that $110k in 5 years with 1800 a month. No reason to think she wouldn’t make more that way.
110k is not a lot
Is it a taxable benefit or not? She cpuld be making interest if invested while using..bit Inquestioned the math too.. but also really depends the age of retiring. If 65 its likely a woman will live to see 75 or 80. If male its lower. If health conditions are present, alcohol or smoker.. lowered. We have a sick society ..and many people would blow the money too quickly ..I dunno.

Why do you advertise “Blinds To Go? No one can afford them. Their prices are outrageous. You’ll need to go into debt to buy them.
It’s somewhat paradoxical. 🤣😂🤣 You should suggest newspapers to cover your windows.
...for people who have listened to their advice over the years and can afford blinds...
...everything is "outrageous" when you're broke...
If you follow the plan, you'll be a baby steps millionaire and can afford the blinds.
@@annamineer2521 That may be true. However, whether I’m a “baby steps millionaire”or not. I won’t buy my blinds at “Blinds to go”. My buying behavior would never change. I think some are missing my point.
I don’t need blinds, I have blinds. My blinds work just as well with comparable quality.
However, I paid a quarter of the price and of course, I installed every blind in my house, myself.
To advertise and suggest people purchase one of the most expensive blinds on the market. Is completely defeating the purpose. It’s contrary to everything he recommends and suggests. Lol!! I’m actually laughing a lot, as I write this.
If you continue to buy the most expensive of everything in the market. You’ll cease to be a “baby steps millionaire”; very quickly.
That’s my point.
@@DericAnslum Lol! Both of you who replied are missing my point.
Why would one choose the most expensive version of a product, when there are many cheaper alternatives, with very comparable quality?
Advertising one of the most expensive brand “blinds” on the market, goes against everything they suggest and recommend.
If one continues to spend that way. Your days of being a “baby steps millionaire “ will be very short lived. Lol!!

The Benefit of the Airline thing. If they Crash at least you didn’t have to pay for it.
Bad move Dave on pension. The teacher could invest the $1800 monthly pension into a fund since she says she doesn’t need it and in 5 years she has more in her account than the lump sum. In addition she has the pension for life. No the pension is way better.
What airline does Dave prefer to fly? I personally love Delta 😅
Air Canada refuses to give refunds and only gives credits with expiry dates. They took a bunch of money from me once and I do whatever it takes to avoid flying with them and tell everyone about it. To heck with air Canada fyi, and always read the fine print.

My dad retired at 55yrs. Now he is 90yrs and still collecting pension from that company. Hahaha
A good friend and fellow teacher/principal took the monthly sum, not the lump of $500,000. He was diagnosed with cancer 4 months after retirement and passed away 3 months later. He received about $28,000. That's a difference of $472,000.

I think Dave secretly loves Delta 😂
That money you invest… you want it to grow. You expect it to grow right? Well that growth is fueled by increased quarterly profits and financial performance by companies like Delta. If this relationship works, the stock price will go up. Your investment (if you own stock or an index fund which holds Delta stock) will go up. If every company acted with moral righteousness no stock would ever be worth buying.
I think the lady that called in about where to invest the SS money from her deceased ex husband was calling for investing advice not advice on should she use the money for raising her kids. The tone in her voice kind of sounded like she wasn't worried and probably would do fine with her income alone.
True Dave just rushed it off and didn't listen to the lady,'s question

They do a restaurant review of food quality every year. Rating restaurants using old grade school system of A-F. Panera is best in class. Far second runner up is Chipotle. Third is Chic Fila. Everything else is failing. With all the health issues, do the math. Processed/fast food must be in cahoots with big pharma cause they are all getting rich and we are all sick.
Never mix high carb and high fat. We need meat to thrive. Eat meat and some low carb veggies with some butter, lard, tallow or chicken fat. Some daury and berries are ok. Thats all the body needs if you prioritize protein!
