Fantastic video! The irony is that this is one of the best M cars of the past 15 years yet it's a "partsbin project" haha. Looks like BMW engineers should be allowed to dream up something else

I squeezed 28Okm out of my 1M in NSW Australia
    Change up around 250.
It’s the best car I’ve ever owned.

    1M goes 270 km/h on speedometer. GPS speed 260.
I don't believe the M GmbH forgot to limit some cars. Then the whole Software must be another one 🤔

It is so nice to see someone with so much affinity and enthusiasm for the 1 series! I had one myself, and really loved it. However, in the larger US market, there was not as much fanfare, and they never received the same love they saw in other markets. I agree it's hands down an all-time ultimate experience, and I love the E30 reference (it truly embodies its spirit), but the US market routineley favors the larger cars, and the M3 and M5 were much more popular. And for California market: no cabriolet?

It’s from Lightweight Performance and they are extremely durable splitters, well worth recommending

I still don't understand why people who have never driven a 1M, think they are somehow the greatest thing on four wheels.
They were a developed by a team of kids, in a short time, and were not a great handling car, and not a great looking one either.
I am glad the car was developed, because what was a rough project, was taken by BMW themselves, and improved upon massively, which resulted in the M2, which WAS a fantastic looking, better handling, faster, and much more successful car.
The 1M is only so valuable, because of it's rarity, not because it is some amazing car, because it isn't. Lots of people who bought them did not gel with them and sold them on.
I always thought they were ugly things, slab sided, too much bodywork above the rear wheels, the rear end chopped off in an ugly stubby way, the sad looking front end with ugly headlights and a sad face. The OG M2 was completely the opposite, a fantastic looking car, perfect proportions, so pretty, not a single angle which doesn't look fabulous.

It’s shocking how much nonsense you people make up about the genesis of the 1M. My father was lead project manager at M-Sport Fabriken at the time and he said there were never any weekends, it had nothing to do with your stupid whiskey story and this model was approved my BMW AG management back in 2008.
