@@rahulmandala4930 To be fair, BMW does too. The M2 Competition is still available with the Manual Gearbox and as far as I can recall, the all new G80 BMW M3 will be available with a manual option as well.
@@rahulmandala4930 Here in Germany, Porsche sells 93% (!) of their 911/Boxsters/Caymany with PDK. That is just sad, i think. The fun in driving is to get the whole experience..shifting gears is big part of that in my eyes. Although the PDK is probably the best automatic on the market, i would never ever buy a Porsche with it. I still can`t believe Ferrari doesn`t offer a manual any more. They had the most beautiful gear shifting gates..just imagine a F40 without it. Impossible..
scotti pippen I drive a GTI with DSG and it’s a load of fun. I think it depends on the context of the car, sad Ferrari doesn’t make manuals anymore because it made sense for the context of their cars, but for BMW and Porsche it doesn’t make sense because DCT transmissions are a good medium
Genuinley can't believe some of the comments trashing this car. It's clear you don't know what you're talking about. Half don't even make sense. I had a 135i, great car, and the 1M improves on all of the flaws. It's perfection in a supremely well rounded package. There's a reason people love it, like the true enthusiast owner in this video.
Adrian gets it :) The 1M is a special car for exactly the reasons he brought up. The car just feels right. All BMWs used to have this feeling, but unfortunately that’s no longer the case.
BMW was one of the best car manufacturers in the world. They were able to create a special type of car and develop it to an incredibly close state of perfection. Congratulations to BMW for one day doing this. Congratulations to Petrolicious for producing this fantastic content. And congratulations to the owner of this beautiful 1-series M coupe for understanding so much about the soul of the cars and for having found and understood a car as fantastic as the 1M.
Down to earth regular car guy, no BS with his Ferrari/lambo etc badge stuff...and 1 of 64 cars.. those cars are great also, but they mostly end up in storage and that's a waste of three quarters of a car...
About time they add a video with a brother. I have been watching this channel for a long time and this is a first as far as I know. Hope to see more representation. :-)
I enjoyed how well he articulates his thoughts on the car and why he has a connection to it. The 1M is a fantastic car and it is a shame that few will get a chance to experience one.
Working at a car dealership for more than 11 years I've enjoyed driving some of the best cars made! Audi and BMW are the ultimate driving machines. IMO.
Love this man's view on the automobile. It's not just the visual aesthetics, it's the driving that is the true art form of a car. Cars are meant to be driven, otherwise why bother filling out the inside with drivetrains? Bravo Sir!!!!
My god. This guy is exactly me. Just sold my 1m after almost a decade of ownership. Grandpa was a mechanic too. You’ve got it right man. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Keep it.
Adrian, we both survived our wife’s Jedi mind trick at the dealership! She got me the first time, but I had mastered the force the second time around some years later. I feel another imminent battle coming soon!😂 Keep driving bro, and may the force be with you! ⚔️😉
Certainly a car I have lusted over for past 5 years. Finally acquired a black 1M in December. Due to winter I have only been able to drive it twice. Looking forward to spring. This video made you sense what the owner feels when driving. These cars are amazing for those of us who want that certain “one with the vehicle” relationship. My one regret is that I did not buy one in 2011 but instead poured money into about 7 other vehicles including an M2 that are long gone by now. Lesson learned - don’t hesitate.
I don't understand how the N54 in this, and the N55 in mine just sounds so good. While the M2s and M3s just sound so bad. Love the 1M. I hope to get one when the boys go off to college.
It's hard finding a proper black automotive enthusiast.... Usually gaudy.... Same with Mexicans.......always rocken that gaudy slammed shit from japan, or rocking some lame ass drift car with florescent knockoff rota wheels ..........
society tells us all that these type of cars are for old white men. not everyone can go against the grain and start to look into things that “aren’t for them” and people would judge them for, so shout out to all of us lmao
Thank you for sharing. My 128i isn't a 1m but when I get it and drive, for me, it feels like it. The 1 series were made like the way it was made with the focus on driving.
This is awesomeness! I drove one few years back and love that thang! The smile it gave me was owweee ! Just thinking about it now makes me smile! I must own one ! 😍 great story , awesome looking car!
The last car from an era where all BMWs (especially this one) were special to drive, not just relative to the competition, but absolutely. I used to have an E60 530xi 6MT and was absolutely smitten. A BMW inline-six, manual gearbox, and hydraulic power steering results in one hell of a car
Lovely video guys and a nice back story to go with it... I have an old E89 35is Z4 with the identical engine, so I should take care of it and appreciate it more...
I have no idea who you are but you have a real down to earth sense . You have have great taste in motors. I like that you appreciate what you've paid for. I can't afford a M1 but I will buy a 135i.
Well done! This is a great example of the passion, and the enjoyment that can come from the connection to a car. I feel very much the same with my Cayman. Not a lot of horsepower, and there are much faster cars out there, but there is something wonderful about the experience and rowing through the gears! These are cars that were made for the enjoyment of driving....no other larger purpose than that.
Hard to find a more modern replacement for it that can do the task. Even the M2 Competition - however great car it is - doesn't offer that oldschool raw driving pleasure a well-kept E46 M3 can. Different era, different feel - definitely much more involvement.
Great video man. Love the decals, really enhancers the Alpine White. I myself have just bought a Valencia Orange 1M (first ever BMW) here in the UK, & love it. Just getting my head around the car & maintenance issues that these engines come with.

Small car with a manual, combined with a BMW 6 Cylinder. It doesn`t get much better than that..

The hommage to the 2002 turbo is great

That white with the 3.0 CSL characteristics is so gorgeous. One day, I'll get a 1m and take it on the corkscrew at Laguna Seca Raceway

The fact that you can still compare any of todays Bimmer to that 1M says a lot. The OG M2 probably the last of analog style Bimmers around
