I started in exactly the same way as you. I think your friend's family will love her quilt and absolutely treasure it. Hope your day got better.

Yes but I think it's fair to say that I now only dabble! Its only recently I picked it up again and I now only do small projects. I really like the way the hexagons fit together.

Me too @@michellehenderson1397. Small projects are great though as you feel you have achieved something x

That's the cutest story with the no quilting and a little bit. I giggle. I did the piecing and haven't done EPP yet but plan to. I just love piecing but don't the quilting part especially for the larger-sized bed quilts. I have had to repair a tied quilt because the ties came out and the waddling/batting all fell to the bottom. Thank goodness it was a baby quilt! We all just keep learning. That's the fun of it. Your friends quilt is a beauty! I'm sure the family love it.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. We do tend to fall into the two categories don't we? Love the piecing but not the quilting or the other way round. Every day is a school day as my husband always says!! Take care xxx

I've just been looking at my first EPP quilt top. It has been lurking in the loft for a few years (40 to be precise) Bearing in mind that when I started making it I hadn't a clue what I was doing and with no-one to guide me it wasn't that bad really. To my amazement I had done 3/4 of it and have cut all the papers and the fabric is all ready to go. I am inspired to finish it now that I'm taking quilting lessons. It will give my friends a good laugh to see it.

It just goes to show doesn't it? I was the same - just working on what the ladies in the quilt shop had said when I popped in on a whim. Go on, finish it - and then send me a photo. All those memories in that fabric xxxxx

I'll definitely send you a photo of the finished top. If only to give you a good laugh. I must admit it did make me smile this morning seeing all that Laura Ashley fabric.@@tenminutequilter

When I started, we didn’t have rotary cutters. All with scissors. Didn’t know how to quilt. Just sewed squares together and tied the three layers together with yarn at each square’s corners. I’ve come a long way.. lol

But I bet it all turned out ok though, like mine. Thank you so much for your comment xxx

    A new trend…minimal quilting?? Apparently it’s a successful technique 😅

Well, it obviously didn't do much harm. Not sure it's a trend that would catch on now though. Thank you for the comment xxxx
