Off road bumpers are an easy and effective way to protect your overland or off road vehicle from damage on the trail. Most factory bumpers are made to absorb impacts rather than deflect them and as a result, crumple easily if you hit a rock or tree. This can get expensive quickly! Off road bumpers are typically made of steel or aluminum and provide significant impact resistance, especially when compared to the factory bumper. Additionally, aftermarket off road bumpers come with options like a place to mount a winch, d-ring or soft shackle mounting points to help you pull yours or others' vehicles out of a ditch, auxiliary light mounting points, and many integrate with your specific vehicles options like headlamp washers, parking sensors and marker lights.
When purchasing an off road bumper you should consider your budget and how you intend to use the bumper. There are a wide range of prices and options and you are sure to find something that works for most of what you need. Also consider how easily the bumper will install, whether you can do it yourself, and the quality of installation instructions/videos/documentation from the manufacturer.

I have a coastal off road bumper with the full hoops and it cost around $2100 after I found someone to weld it and powder coat. Still love it to death and wouldn’t go with any other

The TrailReady seems very heavy and sticks forward too far and looks like the approach isn’t nearly as good as some of the others that tuck tighter to the nose.

Yep - have seen it and it looks pretty cool. I haven't included hybrid bumpers in the comparison but might in the future.

@@TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad I love it! My GX is a 2014, so more cutting is necessary , but it’s very sturdy. I also have the 12,000 lb synthetic winch and skids from them. Very happy with all of them. I did upgrade fog lights to LED, also from them, since it comes with halogen.

Sharp eye... we investigated the ARB front bumper options for the Lexus GX460 and here's what we found:
ARB USA makes an off road bumper for the Prado 150 called the Deluxe Bull Bar and Sahara Bar. These were not included in the video comparison because they are not officially fitted for the Lexus GX460 (any year). We have included them on the spreadsheet above [referring to the www.TXGXOverland.com website] for comparison and have heard stories of some people figuring out how to mount them to the Lexus GX460. Do so at your own risk!

@@TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad my GX460 is fitted with an ARB Front Summit Bull Bar / Bumper. You are correct it is made for the Toyota Prado 150. However, fits perfectly fine on a GX460. Thanks.
