I haven’t heard of anyone around here with a macadamia nut tree. I’ll be watching the progress. I imagine it will work good due to your past tree and success with your other trees. Keep up with good videos
macadamia integrifolia vs tetraphylla. The Beaumont is a hybrid of the two types. The H10 is the integrifolia which is less recommended for hotter dryer colder areas. Cate and Beaumont have been the most planted macadamia in the western US. Cate is tetraphylla where the Beaumont is a cross between the two. Grafted macadamia seems hard to acquire.
Thanks for the explanation. I do have a Cate here in California but probably Beaumont is a little better? Jeff, you shouldn't have cut down your beaumont! :)
I have a Macadamia nut tree in Sacramento. We have had it for 6 years and got it from Lowe's. So far it is growing. We have had one branch break off due to weight and it seems to be top heavy.
They make nice landscape trees, One year I was frustrated by the minimal nuts I was getting so I dumped a full box of sul po mag into the mulch and watered it in… I was rewarded with a lot of nuts the next year
Hi Jeff, great video and excited to see a follow up video on progress as it grows. Do you think a macadamia nut would work for zone 8B? I am in Northern Georgia.
How is the macadamia tree now? I would love to see an update on it. I am interested in growing a macadamia tree. Just wanted to check with you if you have cuttings or air layered cuttings
You should have got rid of the truck instead. Lmao. I planted my 2nd Mac tree a few weeks ago. The ist wasn't looking too wonderful so I saw one at mimosa la almost 5ft tall for 35$ when I bought my achacha. I couldn't pass that deal. Overwintered it and planted this print. I believe H-10 is an Australian variety. Anyway do you know if it's air-layer or seedling since I didn't see any graft union? Mine are Cate macadamia seedling, a California originated variety .
Wow great tropical looking garden. Can you grow the reddish leaf plant (tiki cane or something like that) that's in the pot on the right side of the path? I mean plant it in the ground.
I bought a Mac from Lowes a few years after we moved into our house. It did ok for about a year and then got nailed by a 27 degree night. Hadn’t thought to use something like a beach umbrella to serve as a quick canopy. Were you able to crack the nuts? I was surrounded by macadamias when I was living in Hilo, but those suckers don’t crack easily. They made black walnuts look easy to shell.
@@TropicalGardenGuy Pretty sure mine was a Beaumont, too. Our local Lowes and Home Depots have been pretty adventurous this year with the plants they’ve ordered. I’ve seen at least 5 different tropical guava cultivars instead of the usual tropical white, tropical pink and red Malaysian you normally see in these parts. I’ve also seen Kentia, Foxtail, Bismarck and Bamboo palms. If I see a macadamia, maybe I’ll give it another try.
Can't stop laughing over how you chose your truck over a producing macadamia tree! Hope you don't have to wait 9 years for your new little tree to produce. How's it going, 10 months out?
Crazy youtube published this video b4 it was done! Lol, oh well, here it is!
Dont forget to subscribe!
Im NorCal 9B Loma Rica in the foothills, your channel has me inspired for sure. Thank you!
Glad to be of help!

Welcome!
Great looking young tree Jeff, well you did say you were going to get a new one 👍
Yea macs are hard to come by, I was afraid it would get beat up… but it looks great
Nice looking tree, especially after three days in transit.
Yup yup

Integrifolia or Tetraphylla?
Thank you. I wasn’t sure it was ok to grow in a large pot
Only when young
Hi Jeff, great video and excited to see a follow up video on progress as it grows. Do you think a macadamia nut would work for zone 8B? I am in Northern Georgia.
All depends on lowest temp expected.
They get serious damage at 23f

It’s doing great, it’s over 8 ft tall and didn’t stop growing over the winter.
I’ll be doing a update soon

@@TropicalGardenGuy thanks.

Yes you can! The red Ti plants on the left have been in ground for 5 years
Hi Jeff, I live in Stockton, CA. Did you have to build a greenhouse around your first macadamia nut tree in the winter?
No, It was mild the first 3 years it was in ground. If it had gotten below 28f, I woulda put a beach umbrella up over it to keep the frost off it

Yea the Beaumont Macs I had toughened up the olde they got.
The nuts were much easier to crack than the ones I ate from hawaii

i couldn't quite make out where you got the tree from, I'm interested in buying one!
Rivers of provision nursery
Would love the info of the place you purchased the tree. I have been having an awful time trying to find one in CA or get someone shipped to CA.
I got mine online from Rivers of Provision nursery in Florida
Hey Jeff, Do you offer a budding or grafting service for Macadamia nuts?
No… sorry
In Mexico you can buy Great macadamia tree for 5 dolars
Excellent
Jeff, are there any reports of success with Integrifolia in this area?
I haven’t heard of any , but experiment is my middle name!
Did the tree survive over the winter?
Yes… zero damage.
So how did your macadamia nut tree do?
Its loving this heat. Its pushing new growth right now
Can't stop laughing over how you chose your truck over a producing macadamia tree! Hope you don't have to wait 9 years for your new little tree to produce. How's it going, 10 months out?
