Ok, if you go to hit the tree branches with a stick or otherwise shake loose the nuts, put out a canvas beforehand. The loosened nuts will land on the canvas, then fold it up and you got 'em all picked up with the canvas.

What do you do with the shafts on which the macadamia fruit grows on? Do you prune them? And, if you do, at what time of year do you do so??

I don't do nothing, i cut it one in a year in the late autumn beginning of the winter just because it is disturb my Jackfruit, no need to prune possible

D these have to be grafted onto other root stock? I just got an email from a nursery that said some such thing, a bit confused lol

It's much better to graft if not you can't ensure what you will get

Hi Buddy how did you go with the Macadamia did you end up getting one? The reason to get a grafted tree is Macadamia can take 5-10 year's to produce nuts but a grafted tree's can produce nuts anywhere from 3years and you know you will get a decent quality because tree's grown from seed won't necessarily produce the same quality nut as the tree it came from. All the best.

If you have squirrels they will eat your nuts like crazy! They will also bury them and you will have trees pop up in your yard!

squirrels can't live where macadamia nut grow because it's too hot for them, the nearest squirrels are 250 Km from here in mountain, or maybe there are squirrels for hot climate that i don't know about

Well I live in Los Angeles, CA and I have a 35 year old macadamia tree in my backyard and the squirrels eat the nuts before we can even get them. We have had macadamia trees pop up all over the yard, where they buried the nuts but never came back for them.
