  • Macadamia trees can be grown from cuttings but for the highest success rate you should watch this video. I will explain the basic tools and supplies needed and share a little secret that professional growers know and understand. The secret involves the trees sugar reserves and how you can maximize it to your advantage. Need some gardening supplies? www.amazon.com/shop/pepesfrui...

Glad you liked it. Someone recently said that I wasted his time talking to much and not showing how I cut the little branch. LOL. 😂😂🤣🤣😅😅

    Pepe,
Good info! Let me suggest better video structure. As a 1st timer, what i need to know:
Supplies- rooting hormone, spag pot, rooting container or alternative.
    #2- Selecting the Cutting
Go thru the tree, show how you select the cuttings, how big, how to cut ( straight or diagonal), any prep ( removing leaves, scraping, etc)
#3 -Actual Planting of the Cuttings.
Take the ready cuttings, dip in powder ( how deep, how much rooting powder) or some dip in water first before dipping in the rooting powder.
#4 - how deep does viewer plant the cutting in the cup or soil after dipping the cutting in powder. Do you compress around the bottom? What do you use to make the hole?
    # 5- complete cutting in the spag pot.
    Pepe, dont assume we know!
Personally, i don't have a rooting box, instead i use a 2 liter plastic bottle with the bottom cut off. I sink it about 1/2 " around my cuttings in a 2 to 5 gal black plastic pot, for that
" greenhouse" effect. If needed, i can poke 3 holes near the bottom using 3 point pattern. Then i take a metal clothe hanger, cut it into 3 straight, equal sized pieces, about 5" long. Using my sidecutters or pliers, i bend a tight J at one end, then use it the J to pin down the plastic 2 liter bottle, while in the pot. Same effect as those plastic pegs that hold down a tent.
When cutting the 2 litter bottle, remove the label, use a sharpie to draw a straight line using the detachable black bottom as a guide. The remove the bottom or just cut along the edge. Its actually easier using a box cutter blade out 1/4. The blade rides the edge of the bottom piece, for a perfect cut.

Hey so fair to say they grower super slow right man? Bought two of the spiky kind about month and a half and just now today saw growth.

Yes, cuttings take a while to root and grow but you can produce many at once compared to Air Layering them. Air layers have a higher success rate and produce bigger faster growing trees.

I only sell the plants when they are about a year old. Right now just have a few 2 foot air layers. I sell locally in Florida only. Thanks.

Do you think a macadamia tree can be grown in the pots? Even if there is no climate issue, just a person doesn't want to plant into ground.

What are you saying for once you actually show us how to do something. You said everything but where to cut how to cut when cut etc. I find your videos very frustrating. You seem to have a habit of spending 8 to 15 minutes, telling us nothing.

🙄Really you need to see me cut the tiny twig apply hormone and stick in the grow cube? The information provided is more than anything you could find on You tube. about propagating macadamia from a cutting.
