Nintendo Switch Lite Repair - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Hi Mick, you made it look so easy 😂😂😂😂😂 no seriously you did an amazing job, the extra screws were because I’d ordered a set of screws and drivers that may as well of been made of candle wax, when I got it the seller had chewed off the heads of loads of screws, and I had to get them out with a pair of cutters, the rubber bit was off of a home button Vince sent me, as the shop that put the r/h joycon connector back on lost it, then found it a week later. The connector burnt out due to me getting a used one from a “repair shop” I pointed out when he passed it to me there was a black mark on it, he looked at it and said it was fine obviously it wasn’t, Sorry it was a nightmare I really am 😊
Have a great Christmas to you and all your family
Kind regards
Gary
Thanks mate, it was a little bit of a challenge as it was the first time I've looked at one. Oh I was wondering about the joycon connector as it looked melted so that explains it. Well at least we got it sorted for you in the end! Hope you and family have a great Christmas too! Best wishes from me and family 👍
@@BuyitFixit thank you again Mick 👍
conector burn its not look so easy
@MrDeadrage yes not easy, but I guess you would get better with more practice.
I always like how you sound surprise and full of enthusiasm when you announce on what you will be working on. 👍 I'm surprise that only two components fell out of place when you were changing the ribbon connector, seeing how everything is so small and close. Well done on this one! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thanks Patrick 👍Wishing you and family a merry Christmas too 🙂👍
Brilliant! Excellent work especially since you didn't take it apart. A nightmare indeed and all those non labeled tiny screws.... You do have some patience sir... Thanks.
Thanks Terry 👍Have a great Christmas 🙂
Well done on the repair, it's also brave of you to show your mistakes, some TH-cam repairers would edit them out. Enjoy your Christmas!
Thanks 👍 I'm only human, we all make mistakes 🙂
You're always so careful, there is no way you caused ALL of those damaged spots....
Thanks, that's what I thought too. However the mosfet that moves must have been be as you can briefly see it when I first look at the board at the start of the video.
Excellent repairs. I admire your patience.
Thank you kindly 👍Hope you have a great Christmas 🙂
Cracking job, well done, merry Christmas to you and yours 😊🎄🎄🎅🎅
Thanks 👍Merry Christmas to you and family too!
Nicely done! Happy holidays!🎅
Thanks and Merry Christmas too you too 👍
Well done mate,it could'nt have been easy, working on tiny components in that tiny space, also not having disassembled it in the first place.
Better communication from the sender would have helped a lot, also keeping screws together in relevance to components.
Thanks 👍Yes that connector was tiny. Even the syringe on my flux looked like a tree trunk compared to those pins. Have a great Christmas 👍🙂
You too thanks 👍
Thank you for another interesting video. Hope Christmas was good for you, looking forward to seeing what the New Year brings. I fully accepted Years ago that I am proper weird. Always makes me smile watching the solder solidify and the IPA (not the same stuff as I drink) evaporating. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Chris 👍Hope you had a great Christmas too!
Neat ! Merry Christmas !.....cheers.
Thanks AndyMouse 👍Merry Christmas to you too 🎄🙂
Well done Mick and a happy christmas to you and your family and farm animals 😀
Thanks Mike 👍Merry Christmas to you and yours too!
Thank you. This was the video I needed, thank you.
Thanks for letting me know 👍and I'm glad it was useful to you 🙂
@@BuyitFixit i have a tablet, that needs a new connector for the screen.. I have tryd two times new, but I keept on melting for me.. I don't think off heading it from Det back.. I'll have to give it a try
@FintaruS Yes, heat from the underside of the board otherwise you'll melt it. Make sure you have plenty of leaded solder on all of the pads first, and flux on them. Align the connector to the correct place and then heat from the bottom and it should just slide into place 👍
@@BuyitFixit yup. Love it.. Again thanks
Well done, have a lovely Christmas 🎅🎅
Thanks Brian 👍Merry Christmas to you and family too!
A sound job as all ways 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Wow!! Just got one of those tv/magnifier machines for Christmas!
Now looking for all the old smd tech that I couldn't repair! Lol!!!!
Nice Nina👍Yes, you definitely need one for stuff like this!
Tricky one that, somewhere between computer repair and watch repair. Have a great Christmas and here's to a prosperous New Yesr.
Thanks, yes that connector is tiny! Merry Christmas to you too 👍
Maestro! Happy xmas Mick
Thanks Bobbygeorge👍, merry Christmas to you too!
I have two Matek 411wse flight controllers (auto pilots for fixed wing drones) that are both broken. You’re welcome to have them and see if you can fix them.
Thanks for the offer 👍Just wondering what the problem with them is? and are they both the same problem?
One I think the actual cpu has shorted. The other has an issue with 3v regulator. I have attached another 3v regulator to it but it turns on, starts to boot then fades out. The 3v regulator gets hot.
@@gosurc1860 Sounds like something else has shorted down the line. You could put some IPA on the board and see where it evaporates first if you don't have a thermal camera or use one of those rosin flux vape type pens which would also show where the problem is.
The next challenge I see is is doing it blind 😅... I have no doubt you would fix it anyway! Sir you are a legend! 👍
Thanks 👍 Much appreciated. Have a great Christmas 🙂
Mick, I found on Amazon a swab much better than Q-Tip's (no hair) "AAwipes Foam Cleaning Swab Sticks (756A) " They act like tiny sponges and leave nothing behind. $13.66 US for 200 of them, a great deal. I wish all my resolder jobs were as easy as you make it look... LOL Keep it up.
Thanks for the tip! 👍 They seem quite expensive for what they are. I think the cotton buds I was using before those "hairy" ones were only around £1.55 for 100.
Excellent repair. I have changed many of those connectors and they never get any easier. Only thing to mention is that the ribbon cable is supposed to run over the speaker on the daughter board where you have trapped it underneath. If you look at the speaker, there is a cable guide moulded into it. Karl
Thanks Karl 👍I've just had another look at the ifixit guide and you are indeed correct 🤦♂️I thought the bit of plastic must have been to hold the cable. Oh well at least I know which way it goes now if I ever do another one. They are very small, but it's like anything I suppose you only get better with practice 👍Merry Christmas 🙂
@25:05 _ I have a couple of tiny neodymium magnets that I can attach to the side of the bit to hold pesky screws - unless they're stainless or aluminum.
Great idea 👍Thanks for sharing 🙂
"It should be a quick fix, now that I did the work of taking it apart" Oh Boy, I don't miss the repair shop! 🙂
😂😂😂😂Have a great Christmas Terry 👍
Great fix, only discovered them a few days ago. This was tough really, you did an amazing job. Can I ask what temp do you keep your rework station at? Just trying to get the hang of it myself. Cheers
Thanks Rob, I normally run mine around 400C or so. It depends on your station. I just upgraded to a better one which is more powerful. The 858D I used to use I used to run around 450C most of the time as it wasn't too powerful.
Excellent work as always mate. I’m an Auto Electrician but unfortunately my diagnosis normally stops once I know which “module or part” is faulty and it just gets replaced but I love learning about component level repairs from yourself. If you’re ever short of a project I’ve got a GYS 100.12 battery support unit In need of some expertise after my local electronic repair shop couldn’t help. Wink wink 😜 😂
Thanks Matt👍Looks an interesting and a pricey bit of kit (after a quick Google search). Feel free to drop me an email. It's the channel name at out look dot com.
Good fix.
Thanks 👍🙂
@20'43" you poke the flexible pcb power button with the rounded end of your tweezers.
I messed up the other day by using the very square blunt end of a wooden skewer. Wish I had taken more care / used something softer/ more rounded as I ended up with a tiny dent in the springy dome of the switch that made it rather intermittent. Pressing a little bit harder when nothing appeared to be happening probably didn't help either.
That sucks. I think you can get a replacement fairly easy and at least it doesn't look a big job to change it.
Funny. I didnt even see the picture of the video cuz it just started playing and when it happened i said awww he fucked up.. then when the video ends i see the pic “i ****ed up.” Lol. Yup..
Yep, all good in the end though. That's the problem when you get something sent in a pile of parts and you've not worked on one before.
Good recovery. Damn hard to rebuild something you didn't disassemble. I wouldn't call that an f up, an f up is when you just want to clean a video head and destroy a ribbon cable with a cotton bud (not that I have ever done that). I must be thick, I never understand the popup creatures (12:16).
Thanks Ralph👍, it was mainly the components and especially the ribbon cable which was a bit of the 'mess' up 😉 mess has four letters too 😂😂😂 . One of our cats was meowing at the door (and it recorded on the video) so I put the pop up in 😂😂😂
Been awhile since your last vid, always good watching these vids. Ask My Mate Vince about Nintendo Switch, notoriety switch killer tee hee. All good, watched all his videos too 🥰
Thanks, Yes I posted a post on the community tab earlier in the week. We had a couple of premature lambs born so with bottle feeding, lack of sleep etc.. My wife took the picture of them under the tree (on the post) and they look really cute! Yes, I heard about Vince the switch killer 😂😂😂😂
@@BuyitFixit ah living always gets in the way, but it must be done. and takes priority, definitely premature lambs, not even half way through winter yet, hope they make it.
@jonathaningram4672 Thanks, yes they are doing well. They are currently still in the house with nappies on 😂😂😂. They are Black Nose Valais, a rare breed, very friendly and make good pets, but bloody expensive!
@@BuyitFixit I got an image in my head of that chaos and chuckled, they'll bring best rewards in the end.
@jonathaningram4672 😂😂😂Oh it's chaos indeed! Especially when they keep trying to nibble on almost anything such as my laptop, usb leads, Christmas tree etc. At least we don't have to stay up all night now looking after them 🙂
What happened to that cracked component? it suddenly looked like new.
I thought it was a crack at first but it was just a hair or fibre on it.
@@BuyitFixit Phew!!
*TIP*
Cotton Tips or Cotton Buds need to be urgently
replaced with an assortment of Toothbrushes,
"Soft, Medium & Hard" Start by using a soft brush
and finish up with a Kitchen Towel on the Area
that needs to be cleaned further with a soft
toothbrush on the paper towel, only ever use the
hard Toothbrush on stubborn corrosion..
Thanks I usually use a toothbrush first, and mop up the IPA and flux residue with the cotton but afterward. Wouldn't kitchen towel be awkward to get into small and confined spaces?
@@BuyitFixit Likely. Depending on the towel (brand) used, it may also disintegrate if (while damp with IPA or WHY) running it over non-smooth corners/edges such as defined chip packages, solder pads (& attached pins) with minimal solder, etc :(
Either experiment & find a towel you're happy with, or stick to cloths such as window wipes or medical swabs that are designed not to fall apart/leave debris so easily
i can already see the problem at 0:40, theres no internal fan
😂😂😂😂indeed
What solder wick You use? it looks nice and fine.
I bought it from Ebay ages ago. This is the one I bought: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281449161230
@@BuyitFixit Oh thanks! They do not send to poland, but I managed to find it on local market :)
@@sklepa Nice, glad you found it! Have a great new year 👍
@@BuyitFixit I hope so. Best wishes for You too man!
I have something i think i partially broke trying to fix it myself. Its a full size motherboard. fancy having a poke at it. I think south bridge and north bridge are fried.
Hmmm, I've not done much on PC boards, if the SB and NB are fried I'm not sure what I'd be able to do with it anyway.
@@BuyitFixit Thats fine bud. I have tested the board. The power inductors are good but the one that powers RAM and south bridge is of the wrong value when ram and cpu installed. Low ohms. So replacing the north and south bridge could be a nightmare. Cannot exceed 220 C. so maybe impossible. Anyways, thanks for even replying. However, I have a different question I need to ask. The washing machines. The programmators... EEPROM. Are these coded to die even though the machine is actually still good. both washing machines are paying up badly and wondering if this is to be project obsolesce.
@@BuyitFixit Merry christmas bud and have a wonderful new year.
I'm not sure about the washing machines. I'd guess probably not and would think more something like dry joints due to vibrations, although you never know as a Polish train company just got caught doing something pretty much as you describe!
Thanks! Hope you and family have a great Christmas and New Year too👍
Can you do a pc build video
Thanks for the suggestion. I used to build PCs years ago. I remember the first one I built was a 386sx16 with an Adlib sound card and 20mb MFM hdd 😂😂 I think there's probably plenty of videos out there already on building PCs. I bought a faulty GPU so I'll probably do a video on hopefully repairing that in the future.
Hi,
Hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
Thanks Nina, hope you and family had a great Christmas too!
Would you like to look at my android car radio that just stopped working I checked the fuse but it's just not powering on? I would love to see why it stopped working.
Hi Darren, drop me an email if you like. It's the channel name at out look dot com.
Hi mate,I have a 12v inverter, powers up on the 12v side but.nothing on the 240v output, was working fine in an,put hit a pothole and it went off checked fuses and there ok, could you help 😢
I've got a 12v inverter to look at. If it went off after a jolt I'd suspect a bad solder joint or perhaps a crack in the board?

Too small. Forget about it.
Neat!
By the way, every time somebody refers to soldered pins as "Solid!", I immediately see Steve from @StezStixFix before me. Given your growing TH-cam connections, a Steve cameo would be in order, I think. 😁
Yes I've watch Steve quite a few times. The solid thing came originally from Northridgefix just incase you didn't know 👍
@@BuyitFixit Oh, I didn't! Learn a thing every day! 😉
(Off to Northridgefix 😁)
🙂👍
Quite the nightmare reflowing double sided board with small components, well done. Were there many cuts in the recording for language? 🫣
😂😂🤣🤣🤣
