- In this video i go on a prospecting adventure to find gold in a hard to access river. Finding gold in rivers has its challenges and this adventure was no exception. I take the quad bike in to save some time getting to the river allowing more time to snipe for gold underwater. Prospecting for gold is one of my favorite ways of enjoying the outdoors. I'll be trying to do more videos on gold panning and detecting and other prospecting techniques in the near future.

I’d love to see how you would make out on richer rivers than what your presently sniping.
I think you’d be formidable.
I know Victoria is in lockdown with the lurgy at the moment, but I’m thinking rivers in the golden triangle as an example.
Watching you snipe fly specs makes me keep wishing you’d find something a few ounces, even if it’s only once in a blue moon, just to up your averages.
I guess it has to come one day with the days you put in.
If you ever get to WA I would be happy to show you our rivers and streams spots, but I fear there might be even less than what you find in Tassie!
I think we are geologically a lot older than Tassie, and our gold is likely more worn down like flour gold in the lower southwest.
There’s a lot of gold there, the Boddington gold mine for eg makes good $ but from what little I know it’s very fine and contained in the clay within the gravels.
Ian Moone yeh I really want to get interstate to try other areas just hoping covid calms down so I can travel was thinking NZ also few people want to host me there and they’ve sent me pics of the insane gold they find there
Tassie Boys Prospecting Yeah you would love NZ. Tassie & NZ are both pretty special places, but the Karri & Jarrah forests of southwest Oz aren’t to be sneezed at either. Just a question which one holds more gold I guess?
Going to try and have a crack at some of ours come spring once water levels start to drop. Tannin staining is a problem here basically the same as West coast Tassie. The tea tree mostly to blame.
I have a suggestion for you that might increase your gold returns but don’t want to broadcast it here in public.

I love seeing nature at its finest. I live in NZ. And the west coast of the South Island is often successful. Once had operations, and am not mobility challenged? I want to include prospecting into my life. Being outdoors amongst the elements is so relaxing and recharging. Cheers for sharing. Nice rewards all round.

I know I said it about a week ago for one year old videos but it do really like your way of explaining the gold you show where the gold is you show how big the pieces are you wait in front everybody I just wish everybody would do that because just people like me to don't get out there and can't get out there to look for gold and to watch somebody just work in a river and don't show nothing is boring I don't mind watching somebody who chose to go to at the end of the day or at the end of the video because I can watch it then and see where came from see what pieces you got in and makes a big difference to people who don't get out there and that's why I subscribed to your channel and is like 5 other people to does that most of them do not thank you very much For you're videos

Quite the adventure today. I always have a small first aid kit in my pack for just such happenings. And a roll of "fix all" duct tape. 😎✌️
I usually have the first aid but I took it out for an injury at home then forgot to pack it this day 😖

Thanks for the video Levi, and don't worry we all get busy but we'll still be here waiting. That was a nasty cut on your finger, I always carry dermabond with me (medical grade Krazy glue). It wouldn't have helped with that cut since it was so deep and would need a good disinfecting before gluing but consider keeping a tube of the glue in your kit, it does come in very handy. Hope all is well!
Yes I usually have my first aid but funny enough this was the day it was left at home by accident I will definitely add the glue to it cheers mate

Nice work Levi. That cut looked pretty nasty mate, glad you stuck around though. We bumped into you blokes out for a prospect a couple of weeks ago now. It was a miserable day though, the river was up and it was freezing so we called it pretty early.

Undoubtedly there are many dangers that this practice involves, but it is very rewarding
Some awesome footage there & nice gold. I was gutted for you when you finally got to the river only to have your finger gashed open & lost/broke your new camera waterproof casing. Bummer. Lucky you had that electrical tape with you. Saved the day after all that effort getting in there. I know that feeling. I think I have commented this before that Tassie terrain & bush is so similar to New Zealand. Especially on the South Island West Coast. Complete with the brown tannin stained water. Like you say, from plant foliage. Colour of tea & the water gets it colour from the exact same way tea leafs make the tea water brown. I also know you will consume a lot of your prospecting time with all you filming. Thanks for the effort. Best of luck out there. John from New Zealand :)
Cheers mate yeh the filming bumps into the time a bit but enjoy making the vids and sharing with you guys I go through some amazing experiences and to be able to share that with others is great I get a lot of older prospectors who appreciate them as they can’t get out themselves anymore

Levi, Glad you made it back okay. Super glue works wonders to close a nasty cut. I have a Honda trail boss looks a lot like yours. I live 14 miles east of Los Angeles California so don't get to ride it much. Stay safe and see you in the next video.
I know you like/need to travel light, but perhaps you should put yourself a minimalist first aid kit together and keep in a small lock-seal tupperwear container. I never bush-bash without one. Glad you pushed on through though and the first 3.5 minutes of footage was outstanding and nicely edited. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks heaps yeh funny story I actually always have a small first aid kit in a dry bag but I had to use it at home edits this trip then it got left behind this day very typical 🙄

glad to get another one of your adventures. Rugged country. That cut looked nasty. Gold can be completely black. The gold at Canoona was black as it was coated by manganese. Manganese is a scavenger metal. Still recommend a garret carrot. Locate that gold in those crevasses for you no trouble. The scenery is great. I knew one woman who refused to believe that button grass-
Yeh she’s black stuff definitely not ironstone I should get a carrot I think any crevices I find usually get cleaned out hard anyways sometimes is can be a challenge just finding a decent crack or crevice to work and most the good crevices are buried in to much gravel for just about any detector

@@officialtassieboysprospecting I actually havent been able to get out much, between lil ziggy being a handful and the older boys running a muck sense covid and my workload during the summer. But I see a few bright things on my horizon for waiting patiently. This winter will be interesting and much different then the last few. I'll be out next weekend for the first time in weeks and it's well needed . With any luck I'll get some decent content and get a video out. Cheers mate and heavy pans

Great adventure Levi , and i felt your pain when i saw the cut finger , just hit myself in the hand with a nail gun last week , iv'e never done that before , not a nail in the hand , but , recoil hit the pointy end into the palm , went in nice and deep , ouch , but kept working , just like you did , lol . can't waste a good day like that . Awesome results for the day too , nice gold , the dark parts on the gold might be host rock ironstone that's decomposed away , maybe . i used to drink from mountain streams till i got Giardia an intestinal parasite get yourself a life straw , they weigh nothing , and better to be safe than sorry . Anyway an awesome day all up except for the finger , cheers mate , well done , ohh ps great footage too and editing .
Nail guns can be nasty hey I put nail through my finger once. The dark bits could be ironstone as a lot of other gold I’ve found is but I think I’m this case it’s just the material the golds been cemented in for along time in the gravels cheers for the feedback mate and take care with that nail gun 😂👍🏼👍🏼

Hay Mate, Liquid Skin or Spray bandage. look it up and never leave home without it. I spend a lot of time in very remote areas, many deserts and Victorian high country. For the places you go it is a must have in the kit. its small and light and can save your life. TAZ is so beautiful, thank you for the awesome shots of where you go. take care.

I cut mine almost to the bone on the first rock I picked up last time I went highbanking. Had to pack it with clay to keep working.

OMG beautiful drone footage - aren't they cool, just get vistas you'd never see otherwise, incredible. No fun with the frostbite, are there no surgical gloves you could wear under your neos - I do complain about those small buttons - I think the chaps who designed them never used them in such conditions! That was a nasty slice, hope it healed OK, a waterproof 1st Aid Kit would be handy - needle & thread, that kinda thing...! Shall be sharing this in UK, take care, great Vid! 👍🦘🐾🏆😎
