How much gold did the old-timers leave behind?

  • In this video i set out on an adventure to find how much gold the old-timers may have missed in the old gold fields of Corinna Tasmania. I retrace the steps of the old timer and prospector of the 1800s Tom Moore to see if i can find a bounty worth all the cold hard grueling work it is to search for this gold.
The remoteness of the area the steep valleys and the darkness of the tanin stained waters all challenge me in my efforts to find gold.
Join me on this adventure as i explore the history and the places of the miners of olden times.

Hey Levi do you ever do any panning? I know everyone has their own favorite ways to hunt the Au, I am more curious if panning is a viable method there, in California panning rivers is very viable method here. Although the biggest nugget I have ever found was quite by accident, I was crossing a river and a rock rolled on me and sent me into the drink. Fighting to keep the gear in my right hand from being lost I landed up a 100 meters down river, but when I got a grip and was able to pull myself to my feet, I looked down, and there right where my left hand was grasping the rock was a beautiful 24.81 gram nugget. I almost went for another swim because in haste to grab it I almost fell again. In all the time I have spent gold panning and crevicing, I have not found another nugget like that.

Yeh they are perfect for that and scouting bedrock not good at finding big deep gold though unfortunately 😖

Always a great day when hunting. It is a major pain, especially filming in and out of the water. Now throw a detector in the mix and makes for a long day. Hats off bud.

Cheers mate it’s a battle I can’t afford another camera just yet but I really need a second one to keep dry for a clean lense and audio that’s not clogged with water thanks for tuning in mate 👍🏼

    Hi Levi,
    Thanks for the video.
Those old boys did it tough.
Also you are tougher than me that would be too cold for this old fart.
    Great gold
