This is a random but important link. But you know how in Bridgerton they put the show on hold for 1 year and did Queen Charlotte, I think it would be awesome if they did that with the new harry potter series. Like how maybe after season 3 (PoA) they could do a season of the marauders. And maybe after season 5 (OotP) they could do the black family season or after season 6 (HBP) they could do a Snape backstory or after season 7 p1 they could do a quick dumbledoor backstory. It would mean that the show would take years to come to conclusion, but it would create an entire Harry Potter universe a bit like marvel. always something to look forward too. What do you guys think?
Justice for Marietta, a teenager, whos life was probably ruined by that one mistkae of hers in school. Who wants to be judged for their actions at 16. She was afraid for her mother working at the ministry and her best friend. She didnt trust Harry, as most of the world around her to do with its propaganda. And despite all this she only went to Umbridge late in year after having a breakdown, which I would say, is typical for that age. And than Umbridge forced her to drink the truth potion, who knows how much she would have told without it. Maybe she would have just snitched on Harry, who nearly everyone says is a crazy lunatic who, in the eyes of a bystander, might be somewhat responsible for the death of Mariettas best friends boyfriend
@@joelschittenhelm5571 I agree what Hermione did was wrong but when the whole world is on fire, your morals mean nothing. I have countless examples of that in real life as well. The guy was back and Cornelius was fixated on providing fake propaganda on Harry-Dumbledore. Also regarding morals in the history of Magical folks they were doing forced slavery even after the Civil rights movement of America do you have any thoughts on that, also they were the only people who were responsible for the Goblin rebellions and Grindelwald's conquest. Also, we found out there were harsh punishments for Magicals to marry a Nomaj in America in early 1900's, unfortunately we don't have data from 1990's wizarding world. At last I'll say Marietta shouldn't have to bear this kind of consequences and hope even though she is fiction, after some years the jinx wore off.
It needs to be filmed as Neville narrating how the death eaters were sent after her, then cut to a flashback of gran absolutely destroying them, then immediately cut back to Neville finishing with how one death eater is still at st mungos and gran is on the run
@bookworm598 I picture it as a cold open to the episode following Neville coming through the portrait in the Hogs Head. No narration, just a good old-fashioned "You should've brought more guys shoot out, revealed to be a story once it's over.
I think that some of the "not essentials" are essential in terms of function, just not necessarily as full on characters. There has to be a substitute for Hagrid, and it may as well be Grubbly-Plank instead of randomly renaming her, but does she need to be a fully realized character? No, not so much. Same with Madam Malkin. Have the scene at the shop, and we know she's Madam Malkin, but does that really need characterization? Again, no.
Cho does get a small measure of justice in the movie. Snape tells Umbridge she can’t have any more veritaserum as he gave her the last of his stock to question Cho. She didn’t crumble or rat anyone out as she was under the potion’s control and so is, to a degree, blameless for her actions. Nice analysis.
The only things I need from this show is: 1) spells that actually do what they are supposed to do, rather then just knock people down. 2) the final duel in front of everyone with harry humiliating voldy as in the book and 3) every single voldy-related memory from the half-blood prince. I know it's not the most popular opinion, but learning about voldemort's past and about his family were absolutely fascinating, i NEED that in the show.
i dont understand why wouldn't we all want all the characters , i see zero problems in showcasing an actor even if its just for 30 seconds like , thats how good worlds are build
There’s an interview with Rik Mayall where he’s asked about his favourite roll he’s ever played, and he actually said peeves! But he said the reason it’s his favourite was because he got paid a lot of money for a small roll that never made it into what he called a “sh*t film”🤣
Professor Binns is great for exposition. Literally exists in the books just to tell historical information more accurately than anybody else alive would know about. Also the scenes in his class where everyone is just falling asleep and whatnot are brilliant!
I think this should've included Ernie MacMillan. The movies give the appearance that Harry is a bit of a loner, and it'd be good to see Harry as the more popular and likable person he is in the books. He's one of the few people in school who immediately believes Harry about Voldemort's return and is a very active DA member. Not to mention, he's the only Hufflepuff friend we see consistently. He actually has quite a few scenes, with some good ones in the Chamber of Secrets and the Order of the Phoenix, especially with Umbridge and the DA.
I have no problem with the house elves not wanting to be “free” to me it makes them feel more like unique magic beings and not just clunky allegory. It’s like orcs just being evil in Lord of the rings. It’s just how they are and that to me makes Dobby more interesting.
I haven’t watch this yet but Peeves better be in the top tier cause for Season five i wanna hear Fred yell “Give her hell from us, Peeves” And Peeves, whom Harry had never seen take an order from a student before, swept his belled hat from his head and sprang to a salute as Fred and George wheeled about to tumultuous applause from the students below and sped out of the open front doors into the glorious sunset.
i think the new series should be set in the early 90s and when in the muggleworld have lots of 90s nostalgia , it'd work better than setting it in the present day - any one agree?
I don't think Amy and Dennis were killed by young Tom Riddle. If I remember correctly, the orphanage director said that "they were never the same again," implying that they were psychologically scarred but survived.
A Regulus Black cameo with the Inferi in Half-Blood Prince would be so cool! One of the things I’m most looking forward to is seeing characters cast earlier than they “need to be” since we have the context of the whole story now. Cast Cho and Cedric in Season 3, cast Mrs. Figg in Season 1, cast Bill and Charlie in Season 4!!!
@@williamholland415”one of the things I’m most looking forward to is seeing characters cast earlier than they “need to be” since we have the context of the whole story now.” Aka, Luna could come in on Harry’s 2nd year cuz she started Hogwarts then.
I agree if a character was mentioned multiple times prior to their appearance - either to Harry's day-to-day life (like Charlie) or into a major character's backstory (like Bertha for Crouch Jr's) - then they are a "absolutely must see" / "would be cool" tier character. Characters associated to Voldemort's and Dumbledore's backstories are important to be included and mentioned, as Tom and Albus are the "good" and "evil" which all the other main characters perceive in the story. Even Gillert Gridelwald should get justice in a HP TV series, because the movies showed/mentioned him enough to say he was part of Dumbledore's life but not the key pieces of information from Krum during Bill & Fleur's wedding to fully understand that he was the person getting tortured by Voldemort in the prison scene Harry saw through his connection to Voldemort later in Deathly Hallows. Peeves, Madame Malkin, and others that are more "to-show-wizarding world", would be great to see and hear about from other characters even if they don't have speaking roles. At Hogwarts, Peeves needs to be there for the touch of fun that he represents and the same background students need to be shown consistently - like in the books, where its said that classes are with fellow Gryffindors/Ravenclaws/Hufflepuffs/Slytherins - and a TV show would be great to show Ernie, Hannah, Cho, Pansy, Millicent, and all the other mentioned students in the Sorting Hat chapter as they're part of Harry's school experience. Likewise, Diagonal Alley scenes are important and thus the shop owners, especially since Harry spends two weeks at Leaky Cauldron prior to returning to his third year, and it would be cool to have at least part of an episode show this as Harry is having a different type of wizarding-world experience outside of school or being a part of the trio. Other characters that are only seen or mentioned a few times and not important to the overall series, like Piers, Teddy and OWL/NEWT/apparition MOM facilitators, are definitely irrelevant.
For the whole Dumbledore flashback it could be the finale of season 6 where it shows Dumbledore's funeral where they're talking about how great he was and in between have parts of Dumbledore with Grindelwald and stuff
I looooove the idea you had of a regulus inferi cameo that the audience can piece together later on!!! I think I agree with pretty much all your takes on the characters One thing I want the show to really nail is the difference in the three main house elf’s personalities Kreature continues to glorify his masters because he has been corrupted by their ideology Winky struggles to balance her loyalty and self worth as her family doesn’t value her but she values them And Dobby recognizes his true worth and chooses to defy his family (at great cost) to serve good wizards and help make the world a safer place
I think i understand most of the disagreements, Morgan wants a closer to book adaption worh more narration, while you prefer a kore show adaptation with added context in the form of flashbacks
I don't see it as essential, necessarily but it'd be good for the creators to cast young-looking actors for Harry's parents and slightly older/worn actors for Sirius/Lupin. To add to the tragedy of the Potters being like...21 and Sirius isolated for 12 years at the same age. On one of these HP videos floating on YT, I met someone who did a thesis on Sirius' psyche by the time he died. They wrote a lot of info about his mental wellbeing and I'd love for the TV series to give us more of that. Movies are meant to be short, so I don't truly fault them for giving us minimum time with Sirius, let alone that aspect. A series can really spend a season exploring that as some bit of foreshadowing
Dude..... I agree with all your points but Peeves. Not every character needs to be essential to the story, like peeves is just so lovable and fun. I agree more with Morgan on that one
i don't think Kettleburn should count since the Trio never get to actually meet him during their school years. For the Peeves business without Peeves, the Vanshing Cabinet at Hogwarts doesn't get broken And for Teddy only an older Teddy that James Sirius is "kissing Victorie"
I think an important pair would be Fabian ,and Gideon Prewet Molly's brothers, and Fred, and George are nodded at for their names being the same first initials.
My friend said that, if she did a Harry Potter TV show, she would change the timeline and actually have Binns die during Harry's years so that we could see that story play out. I think it could be fun (and less upsetting to true purist fans) just to have one of the older students tell Binns's story and maybe show it as a flashback. But I completely agree with you that we want the Wizarding World brought to life. It's all the little, irrelevant details that made the books feel like they took place somewhere real and alive, not just a set for Harry's adventure.
The marriage of Bellatrix and Rodolphus was an arranged marriage to unite the powerful Black and Lestrange families, but she really didn't care about him. Her obsessive attraction to Voldemort is hinted at but not discussed explicitly in the books. He also seems to care about her more than the other Death Eaters, but he's not shown returning her feelings.
This video really helps to reinforce why a tv series IS a good idea and a unique addition to the HP brand. I have been seeing many videos doubting the success of a tv series. Your video, however, reveals a lot of plot points that scatter magical glitter over the HP books which we love them for.
I really want them to introduce some characters earlier (Luna, Lavander, Cormac, Cedric, Cho, etc) because they are there. I know they're not relevant until their scenes in the films - for example, we know that Hermione & Ginny know Luna before OOTP, so it would be cool to see her earlier. Especially if they're focusing on new storylines - having Ginny & Luna go on adventures of their own earlier would be good.
@@chryzos3091 they definitely knew eachother before OOTP though. Ginny introduces the group to Luna. There is no evidence to say they weren't friends before then. Like Luna must have meant a lot to both Harry and Ginny for their first born daughter to be called "Lily Luna". Luna was their only child named after someone who was alive. And I don't see how Ginny just knowing her for 2 years "and not really close" with her, would justify that. I think it would make sense sometime during Prisoner of Azkaban, as Ginny is recovering from the whole diary debacle, for her & Luna to become close. Because Luna lost her mother the year before Harry started Hogwarts, so they had both suffered great pain before the age of 12.
@@dylantd9189 The scene where they first meet Luna in Book 5 always gave me the impression that they knew of her, but weren't close. Hermione for example uses "Loony" instead of "Luna" when referring to her. The Name that some use to bully her.
I think the epilogue is fine. I have no issues with it, and the fact it created kids for the trio lead on to a brilliantly written sequel fanfiction series by G Norman Lippert, focused on James Sirius Potter. I would very highly recommend it if you have the time to read it. It's the real Harry Potter sequel, not the cursed child bullshit.
Yeah, most fanfiction would be a better sequel than the book which shall not be named, it's supposed to be good as a performance but the story is like swish cheese; and miss "this is the 8th book" couldn't even be bothered to put it into novel format despite the screenplay really not reading well; we can tell she didn't actually write, especially comparing it to the screenplays she did write for the fantastic beasts, which some prefer to the actual movie!
I need em all. I need a chapter by chapter show man. Some people who have never read the books and didn’t grow up with the books will have a bad experience if this flops. I need a chapter by chapter show. Some chapters can merge others get their own episode depending on length.
About the Epilogue. you are completely correct that it is not very well written and annoyingly contrived. BUT, most great fantasy works have a "Reset Button" ending where it is implied that the story continues if the reader chooses to hypothesize on the events after the story, with a sort of direct and heart-felt set up for that. It allows the ending of a series to be mentally stimulating and for people to naturally gravitate towards re-viewing it. Harry Potter has the epilogue. LOTR has the passing the book to Sam. etc. My question to you is, without the Epilogue in the tv series What Button Ending would YOU put on the series? Love both you guys! (random side note for Movie Flame. I would avoid using AI art like for some of the stuff. It can be considered immoral) cheers!
It felt like his points were "not in the scenes in the books, not important", which greatly defeats the purpose of a visual media like a tv series. If i wanted the books i'd read the books
I feel the best option for the Sirius escape would be showing a black dog slip through some bars and the start swimming as an opening scene for Season 3 would be how you should do it.
Being a fan, that's cool, but that gives away a major reveal for anyone who doesn't know Sirius is an animagus. It would cut all tension for how he escaped, which also neuters his presence and how other characters fear him through that whole season.
I really hope they add Winky and the SPEW storyline, I have always seen it as a great storyline for Hermione to show her flaws (especially since the movies made her flawless). It shows that yes Hermione has a good heart, but she's also arrogant. She starts SPEW without even talking to any house elves about what they think and feel and then trying to free them forcefully by hiding knitted items where a house elf might come across it. She says she is advocating for the house elves but in reality she's acting based on what SHE thinks would be best for them despite not having any personal knowledge on the situation. It also shows the negative side to the Gryffindor trait of having a savior complex.
Yeah I want them to explain all that and the complexity. I saw an article that states that evil was not defeated at the end of the series because Harry wondered if his slave Creature would bring him a sandwich in bed after they both fought in the battle, and talking about this "forced slavery" is still going on the epilogue which ruins it for them cause they can't help but think who made the sandwiches the kids pull out. Never mentioning how the house elves feel, just like Hermione, it was ridiculous. Maybe the show could build on it to make it not so terrible. Maybe hint at the origins even if not concrete, like theories of them being created or that goblins would hunt them down but then the wizards came and stopped them, elves were so grateful they promised to help the wizards in whatever way they could as long as they kept the goblins under control (which also explains their treatment of goblins, which led to the goblin revolts that professor bins talks about. I would like if they helped her focus on elfish welfare and getting them rights, like have them able to leave their masters, report them, be rehomed or just be free if they wish. Maybe even get masters to pay damages, possibly even have the house elves have rights over their house if the family has become crooked *Highlighting the importance of choice and fair treatment*. I would love it if Dobby returns to malfoy manor and he reveals he has an army of house elves he helped free from mean death eaters like Harry did for him. 💘😭
@music2012pink wow that sounds like a ridiculous article. I always assumed that the house elves were natural caregivers. So my thought was that they joined Wizarding households where they got protection and purpose and that they didn't want to be given clothing because that meant they had to leave their families (see what Winky became when she was freed) I think Hermione should have been trying to get them more rights, like the ability to leave if they were abused or not allowing them to hurt themselves as punishment. Although I'm curious about that piece, because it's never clear if house elves are under a spell to make them do this or what.
On the PM chapter in HBP, They could even add in visits to the PM in the other seasons because we know when they happen, though that may take away from some of the anxiety we feel from the PMs POV… then again theres no reason we couldn’t see that at other points in the show too. Not a fully fleshed out idea, but a thought
You could have the first meeting with the PM be in beginning of the third season/book adaptation since the book mentions Fudge had controversially told the Muggle government about Sirius Black’s escape
@@matityaloran9157 yeah that’s exactly what I’m getting at! There’s a few that are mentioned, I think there’s one to do with the quidditch World Cup but it’s been a little while, I can’t really remember…
I think Morgan had it right for Peeves. He was a counter to Filch's "100% rules" attitude, gave the readers a laugh or two (or at least I did) and gave Umbridge hell along with McGonagall. But more importantly, he's the one who breaks the vanishing cabinet (the same one Draco repairs in Year 6) allowing Harry to escape from Filch and avoid punishment. Minor detail then, but it becomes bigger in the later books.
My thoughts are that they should all be in the series. Yup. Every single one of them. The entire selling point of this series is that it will match the books. And if that's truly the case, every character will play their role precisely as they do in the books. They all add their bit to the world, and are important in their own right.
Susan is the student, Amelia/Emilia is her aunt who worked in the Ministry. She was also present during Harry's trial in Order of the Phoenix (at least in the film), so I'd like to see what she told Susan following the trial, considering Susan shared classes with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. I think it could be a good moment not just for Susan but for the House of Hufflepuff, the one house that got completely shafted over in the films outside the Goblet of Fire. I remember someone asking why Slytherin still existed after the second Wizarding War, and have been asking why Hufflepuff still existed. It was basically a House of rejects who lacked in bravery, wisdom, and resourcefulness despite being very loyal to their fellow students (with some exceptions).
No Ernie MacMillan? Hes my favorite Hufflepuff. He wants to be friends with Harry so bad almost like a slughorn type of way, ya know to say hes friends with the great Harry Potter. Not necessary though. I would put him in my personal would be cool to see list, but irrelevant but almost important to show some huffs and ravens cause their houses are almost irrelevant in the books.
The thing about the flashbacks is how would they be implemented? There is no way Dumbledore is giving memories of his family to Harry, and the only three people who know about Barty Crouch Jr.'s escape are either dead or kissed. And Jr did reveal it under Veritaserum not as a memory. So they can't really use the pensieve if they don't have memories. If they did them as a cold opening it would be kind of jarring going to these characters we either don't know or recognize so they would be misplaced info dumps just to make the scenes make sense.
i hope they arent on the nose with snape being a double agent and what i mean by that is dont imply theres something more about him just keep him as the asshole teacher then during azkaban and goblet of fire you do a trace amount of it
I agree with “show don’t tell” in general as well, but sometimes that really conflicts with pacing. You can’t flash back to every single past detail that the characters tell us about, so occasionally it really is better to tell instead so that the story doesn’t get bogged down with a million characters and events. Also, if this series is going to be suitable for kids, they will need to make a judgement about how to present some of the darker things later in series (like the Amy and Dennis scene). The range of age ratings of the movies - and tbh the books - are enough of a challenge for parents now.
okay i've been thinking about the pilot: The opening should a zoomed in shot on Voldemort's wand killing the Potters and trying to kill Harry but can't, then Harry being dropped off at the Dursleys, Then time jump to Hagrid picking Harry up on his 11th Birthday, Harry's time with the Dursley and why they are there can be dialoged, Hagrid takes Harry to the leaky cauldron, through the alley, Gringotts, anyways ultimately ends with Harry getting his first wand.
Teddy being born and orphaned and Ron and Hermione getting married are both essential for the alchemical symbolism of the story. John Granger explains it quite well.
36:32 I think madam Malkin should be essential. You have the first time to see Draco and then again in HBP when Harry really starts to get suspicious of Draco with the foreshadowing of the tattoo on his arm. Plus it’s one of the longer scenes w/ Narcissa.
I think they should use some of the early harry potter videogame music for the show. The pause screen/main menu music for chamber of secrets pc would be great for the shows opening credits and the marauders map of the castle for the visuals, like a game of thrones similarity as a lot of shows these days have.
Actually, I want to disagree with you on one thing. Kingsley's line is a rip off in a bad way and shouldn't be in the TV series at all. In the books it is Phineas Nigellus Black who says to the minister that “You know, Minister, I disagree with Dumbledore on many counts . . . but you cannot deny he’s got style. . . .” The movie gave us a dumb version of that, complete with the most ridiculous, dare I say gormless, expression on Kingsley's face. And a skilled Auror that's tasked to catch Sirius, but is also in the Order with Sirius and is trusted to guard the muggle Prime Minister himself deserved better than how the movies treated him.
WE NEED PEEVES. Hogwarts Legacy nailed it. we do need more of the Order. even if it’s just more people. It feels so small. we need RAB! More of him leaving the deatheaters. I agree we need the crouch flashback! I would love to see the Longbottoms in St Mungos
One other related thing, is to show to go for age accurate cast. Adult cast other than Dumbledore and Hagrid were WAY too old for the roles. Most others are atleast 2x too old. Ffs, Potters were 21 when they died. In the movies, they are played by people in their 40s. Also, Snape is 32/33 when we first meet him, not in his 60s. All actors in the movies were great actors, but rather terrible castings. Also, they should leverage Harry's actor to potray James in Princes tale and Snapes worst memory chapters at age appropriate times. That would mean filming stuff during 1st season for season 7/8.
I say they show Dumbledore's backstory the same way Harry found out about it. By reading Rita's book and via Aberforth. I love the epilogue. Amy and Dennis were not killed. The headmistress of the orphanage said the kids were never the same after they came back from their trip to the coast. We also see Madam Malkin again in Half-Blood Prince. Did he forget Augusta Longbottom? She's essential to Neville's character arc and she wasn't in the movies.

I really hope they add several of the characters that were cut that would be an easy way to make the show better than the movies there's easily a few things the show can do to be better
A wild thought that I had is what if they made it animated like the Star Wars franchise did with Clone Wars? I wonder if fans will be disappointed by a live action series because we all have it in our heads what the characters look like from the movies. That wouldn't be a problem in an animated format. Just a thought.
Have to agree on the favourite book! I loved The Half Blood Price. The book was brilliant! I really do hope they flesh the series out! It’ll be really cool!
Binns could be a great tool for world building, ya know the biggest thing people thinks harry potter lacks. Sure his lectures can be boring but he'll bring in stuff unknown to many but the hardcore fandom.
I agree any past character thats not seen in a memory shouldnt be in the show UNLESS we establish that pre potter plot will be shown with flash backs. which think would be great but how do we differentiate between prepotter and memories like in HBP
Ya know, I thought a lot about whether or not you need Dennis Creavy and I came to an interesting conclusion: you actually don’t need either Creavy brother. The character of Colin was basically a plot device of the 2nd book as they needed a younger person to be the annoying pest to who hero worshiped Harry and he and his camera helped further the plot of the rest of the school believing Harry was the Heir of Slytherin. After the 2nd book: Colin was more of a plot hole as he couldn’t really serve the younger pest as the series went on as was only 1 year younger than Harry. And Colin is the exact same age as Ginny. Think of it like this: Colin and Harry are much closer in age than Harry and the Weasley Twins. So my assumption is that is why JK brought in Dennis in a way to age Colin down so he and Dennis can together be the younger pests instead of maturing Colin, which gives him no purpose. But adding Dennis also served to further create plot holes as now you have 2 muggle born wizards to the same parents which is almost unheard of. Also you had Dennis attending the DA meeting in the hogs head even though he was not in 3rd year to go to Hogsmeade. So why not give, Colin’s role in book 2, to Dean who is suspected of being Muggle born and had pictures in the dorms of soccer players as well as quidditch. So you could easily sub in Dean as trying to get a picture of the slugs and Ron on the quidditch pitch then Harry just simply pushing Dean out of the way and later Dean getting petrified and everyone misreading what happened and could still suspect Harry. Dean and Ginny’s similar experiences in Chamber of secretes could also be how they connect when they first get together. Then the in the third year, you could bring in a Colin or a Nigel and they serve the purpose (while still being much now younger than Harry) if needed
It kinda seems like this guy is actually going more on “How badly do I personally want to see them” more so than “How needed are they for the plot” which is fine, but I think he really formatted the video wrong
So I don't know if what I'm Gona say can become reality but as someone who saw the movies and read the books and got absolutely disappointed by how much they left out I want this show to be a scene to scene copy of the books so they can show everything(I might be crazy)
i think they need to explain how they could make the public turn on dumbledore when the ministry was saying hes a liar, dumbledore is the equivalent to a ww2 general on the likes of eisenhower and he was important during the first wizarding war so youd think they would assume hes telling the truth and more trustworthy than fudge especially(they need a better name for that since grindlewalds the global wizarding war also over 1000 years of dark wizards in britain and it took until voldermort to cause a war?)
Is it bad i actually liked the house elves didnt want to be free plot line, it's sadly accurate ti actual history and makes Hermione's activism more realistic. She's not only going against the slave holders but also the slaves themselves. Tubman herself said she would've freed twice as many if they just realised they were slaves

I just need Neville's grandmother dunking on the Death Eaters sent to capture her.
YES
It needs to be filmed as Neville narrating how the death eaters were sent after her, then cut to a flashback of gran absolutely destroying them, then immediately cut back to Neville finishing with how one death eater is still at st mungos and gran is on the run
@bookworm598 I picture it as a cold open to the episode following Neville coming through the portrait in the Hogs Head. No narration, just a good old-fashioned "You should've brought more guys shoot out, revealed to be a story once it's over.
Omg yes bring it…
Don't want to be that guy, but it was actually a Ministry Official sent to get her. John Dawlish to be precise.
Hope we get Roonil Wazlib
I love the irony of Harry's assertion to Snape that it's a nickname, when the very name of the book is Snape's own nickname.
Roonil Wazlib... A gift to mankind 😊🙌
I agree
Honestly pretty much all of these go into the "I want them" tier at least, because I want the show to be book accurate
I know, same with me
Also Phineas Nigellus Black referred to Hermione as a “Mudblood” and Snape yelled at him to not say that which helps Snape’s character more
True
We need more of those relaxed scenes where they just chill/talk/study in the common room
Good point
The only things I need from this show is: 1) spells that actually do what they are supposed to do, rather then just knock people down. 2) the final duel in front of everyone with harry humiliating voldy as in the book and 3) every single voldy-related memory from the half-blood prince. I know it's not the most popular opinion, but learning about voldemort's past and about his family were absolutely fascinating, i NEED that in the show.

We just need more scene with Madam Pomfrey as a talking role especially for the super cuts
Yesssss. She also got to listen to so much gossip
I have no problem with the house elves not wanting to be “free” to me it makes them feel more like unique magic beings and not just clunky allegory. It’s like orcs just being evil in Lord of the rings. It’s just how they are and that to me makes Dobby more interesting.
I agree with that.
We need movie flame, Brett, and super Carlin bros to do a collab or a trivia !! Make it happennnnj
Its like the harry potter youtuber aavengers 😂

Definitely If Morgan, Brett, Ben and J did a collab it would be chaos, definitely chaos
I won’t stand for the Epilogue hate. Happy endings to stories isn’t a bad thing.
I haven’t watch this yet but Peeves better be in the top tier cause for Season five i wanna hear Fred yell “Give her hell from us, Peeves”
And Peeves, whom Harry had never seen take an order from a student before, swept his belled hat from his head and sprang to a salute as Fred and George wheeled about to tumultuous applause from the students below and sped out of the open front doors into the glorious sunset.
i think the new series should be set in the early 90s and when in the muggleworld have lots of 90s nostalgia , it'd work better than setting it in the present day - any one agree?
That's when the books are set so it definitely makes sense, and would work in the same way stranger things does with 80's nostalgia
@@bethmarie3112 exactly
That’s a great idea
Yes, I would like that.
And Luna on season 2.
@DBoy38 Luna wasn't in the story till the 5th book

I think I agree with pretty much all your takes on the characters
One thing I want the show to really nail is the difference in the three main house elf’s personalities
Kreature continues to glorify his masters because he has been corrupted by their ideology
Winky struggles to balance her loyalty and self worth as her family doesn’t value her but she values them
And Dobby recognizes his true worth and chooses to defy his family (at great cost) to serve good wizards and help make the world a safer place
this is the collab we never knew we needed. great video!
The fact that Madame Malkin is higher in his tier than Bertha Jorkins is just ridiculous. 😂
Agreed
He was kind of annoying to me at points but he is a part of live in Hogwarts therefore I want him in the show.
If we don’t get Winky, I’m gonna RAGE.
My 2 favourite hp creators are collaborating . Great to see 😊
The trolley witch being a creature magically tied to the train was the best scene in cursed child and I will die on that hill 😂
20:49 when I was reading goblet of fire I thought bagman was voldemorts death eater
Have to agree with Brett on this one. I would even say Gaunts are the most essential characters left out from movies.
The kids from the flashback aren't super essential, but the flashback is and the flashback needs the kids otherwise it's almost pointless
22:56 It’s true (Cursed child is terrible)
i don't think Kettleburn should count since the Trio never get to actually meet him during their school years.
Peeves is how the twins got the marauders map
The marriage of Bellatrix and Rodolphus was an arranged marriage to unite the powerful Black and Lestrange families, but she really didn't care about him. Her obsessive attraction to Voldemort is hinted at but not discussed explicitly in the books. He also seems to care about her more than the other Death Eaters, but he's not shown returning her feelings.
This video really helps to reinforce why a tv series IS a good idea and a unique addition to the HP brand. I have been seeing many videos doubting the success of a tv series. Your video, however, reveals a lot of plot points that scatter magical glitter over the HP books which we love them for.
a show is a good idea, now whether the show is actually good will be a different question
@@username.exenotfound2943 Should be good they already have several things they could easily do to make it better than the movies
You must've watched the films. Hermione didn't meet Luna before OOTP
Ginny and Luna were never really friends. Luna doesnt really have friends (not in her head) she goes on adventures with until book 5.
Phew, I thought you were gonna say it lead into a brilliant sequel: the cursed child
My 2 favorite Harry Potter TH-camrs in one video!! SO EXCITED TO WATCH
With the restrictions of filming with Kids, the obvious option is to have episodes from other characters pov,
Flashbacks, etc
I only started watching both of you guys over the last couple of weeks so the timing of this is hilarious to me lol. Settling in.
It felt like his points were "not in the scenes in the books, not important", which greatly defeats the purpose of a visual media like a tv series. If i wanted the books i'd read the books
I hope season 1 is at least 10 episodes and season 1 is the philosophers stone That would be a lot better if they were planning 8 seasons
I feel the best option for the Sirius escape would be showing a black dog slip through some bars and the start swimming as an opening scene for Season 3 would be how you should do it.
No, this but a post credit scene of the last episode of season 2!
Being a fan, that's cool, but that gives away a major reveal for anyone who doesn't know Sirius is an animagus. It would cut all tension for how he escaped, which also neuters his presence and how other characters fear him through that whole season.
@mckennamclaws146, not necessarily. It could just be a dramatic irony
Sorry just finished up this video. Voldy doesnt kill Amy Benson and Denis Bishop. At least to our knowledge
He didn't. The headmistress of the orphanage specifically stated that when they came back that they were never the same again.
Came here to say this.
So my thought was that they joined Wizarding households where they got protection and purpose and that they didn't want to be given clothing because that meant they had to leave their families (see what Winky became when she was freed)
I think Hermione should have been trying to get them more rights, like the ability to leave if they were abused or not allowing them to hurt themselves as punishment.

I like that. My kid is just reading HBP and was disappointed to learn that the Muggle PM scene wouldn’t be in the movie.
I honestly still just want a series that goes line for line adapting the books
That’s extremely difficult to do in any adaptation
@@matityaloran9157 Ik.. but a man can dream!
I enjoy watching your and his videos. ✌️
I like Ernie too but he is in the movies already.
@@vaclavnemec2352 o you’re right but that kiddin in CoS isn’t Ernie from the book I like, he was friendlier of course after he apologized to Harry
MovieFlame is GOAT.
i hope they arent on the nose with snape being a double agent and what i mean by that is dont imply theres something more about him just keep him as the asshole teacher then during azkaban and goblet of fire you do a trace amount of it
I agree with “show don’t tell” in general as well, but sometimes that really conflicts with pacing.
The range of age ratings of the
movies - and tbh the books - are enough of a challenge for parents now.
okay i've been thinking about the pilot: The opening should a zoomed in shot on Voldemort's wand killing the Potters and trying to kill Harry but can't, then Harry being dropped off at the Dursleys, Then time jump to Hagrid picking Harry up on his 11th Birthday, Harry's time with the Dursley and why they are there can be dialoged, Hagrid takes Harry to the leaky cauldron, through the alley, Gringotts, anyways ultimately ends with Harry getting his first wand.
Peaves and Finius Black are both a must for me.
In the books it is Phineas Nigellus Black who says to the minister that “You know, Minister, I disagree with Dumbledore on many counts
. . . but you cannot deny he’s got style. . . .” The movie gave us a dumb version of that, complete with the most ridiculous, dare I say gormless, expression on Kingsley's face.

Great reaction 🤝 subscribed!
I really hope they add several of the characters that were cut that would be an easy way to make the show better than the movies there's easily a few things the show can do to be better
A wild thought that I had is what if they made it animated like the Star Wars franchise did with Clone Wars? I wonder if fans will be disappointed by a live action series because we all have it in our heads what the characters look like from the movies. That wouldn't be a problem in an animated format. Just a thought.
He said Bertha didn't appear in the book but she did in book 4 as a kind of ghost during Harry's battle in the graveyard
AND a school version when Dumbledore was sifting through his memories and having them pop out instead of us diving in
Have to agree on the favourite book! I loved The Half Blood Price. The book was brilliant! I really do hope they flesh the series out! It’ll be really cool!
Some of the characters i dont know remember them. I want neville grandmother , regulus backstory , winky
Binns could be a great tool for world building, ya know the biggest thing people thinks harry potter lacks. Sure his lectures can be boring but he'll bring in stuff unknown to many but the hardcore fandom.
We need you in the writers room
In the pc game Professor Flitwick tells the story of the chamber or secrets.
It kinda seems like this guy is actually going more on “How badly do I personally want to see them” more so than “How needed are they for the plot” which is fine, but I think he really formatted the video wrong
You both should do scenes you’d like , I’d love to see Hermione catch Rita in the jar or some more indepth Ginny scenes
What? These 2 in one video? Perfect
Brett great video. Just when are you Streaming again
So I don't know if what I'm Gona say can become reality but as someone who saw the movies and read the books and got absolutely disappointed by how much they left out I want this show to be a scene to scene copy of the books so they can show everything(I might be crazy)
We got Harry Potter fan channel feud before we got GTA 6
Great collab, keep up the good work ❤ So excited for Making Prisoner of Azkaban a good season!
my two favourite TH-camrs combined
i think they need to explain how they could make the public turn on dumbledore when the ministry was saying hes a liar, dumbledore is the equivalent to a ww2 general on the likes of eisenhower and he was important during the first wizarding war so youd think they would assume hes telling the truth and more trustworthy than fudge especially(they need a better name for that since grindlewalds the global wizarding war also over 1000 years of dark wizards in britain and it took until voldermort to cause a war?)
Your audio sounds a little “tinny” you probably should play with your settings a little but good content
