    Pretty amazing, you talk about a 30 m almost 3 min dive as it is nothing. It's a stunning dive, if I could ever achieve just half of that I would never leave the water :-)

    Repetition is good, I must learn breath control, so equalization is also going oki live in pain every day of my life,and getting in the water,is helping greatly, I weigh 183.6lbs. I have to figure out how much weight to put on my belt. Thanks the Bearhunter5

    Cheers for that. What type of diving watch do you have?

      I mainly use Suunto D4F or a ATMOS mission 2

    Great video and really helpful. I actually find somewhere between 15-20m about perfect. Due to the 5mm wetsuit required here if I dive shallow I need a tonne of weight to hold the bottom comfortably and the current in the shallow zones here is crazy. A bit deeper and I hold the bottom with less weight needed which is more relaxing.

    My speargun is 38 in, the bolt is 32 in. This is all very new to me. My recurve bows are 40-53 lbs pull. Thanks bearhunter5

    Hi, Is it possible to ask why you normally use single band on your gun? Thanks.

    • @WettieNZ
      @WettieNZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally I prefer single rubber from the simplicity and manoeuvrability. Along with the correct rubber its very smooth and accurate.

      @@WettieNZ Thank you. May I ask how long is your gun shaft and diameter? and also the rubber how thick it is? Wish you well.

    • @WettieNZ
      @WettieNZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@orazalo Using 7mm hardened stainless shaft with low profile flopper and 16.5mm rubber.

    I was wondering can a kid around 14 go spearfishing by himself and a guardian?

    • @WettieNZ
      @WettieNZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its completely up to your confidence and your guardians guidance. But there are plenty of people your age doing it.

      My son is 14 and he’s loving it. We enjoy it whenever the ocean is flat enough to get out there.

    isn’t it more efficient to kick with straight legs?

    • @WettieNZ
      @WettieNZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes if you are trying to do one dive as efficiently as possible. But in this video we are focusing on repetitive consistent dives. Maybe in future videos we can talk about Kicking technique and its pros and cons.

    Is it bad to dive work ups?

  • @datfishyboii

    the john dory being one of the most delicious and high quiality fish in the world, you have some major luck there that it approached you that shallow... in my experience a very rare species to encounter when spearfishing anyway, let alone it approach you there :D
    though i have not been to NZ. So i cannot say how it is over there.
