    Thank you for explaining Candlemas. Growing up I never questioned anything in the Catholic Church. I remember this day from when I was a kid, but, like all things, it went the way of the dinosaur..! I had completely forgotten about it until this year, when all of a sudden, it has become the most talked about day..! In fact, I’ve never heard it more so, than this year.

    Fr. Allen, thank you for enlightening our minds on the true meaning of Candlemas. We receive not only light on this holy event but also by the practice of the virtues manifested in the lives of Mary, Joseph, Simeon and Anna. May the Lord be praised forever on this sublime encounter.

      Instead of returning to Nazareth, Joseph and Mary remain in BETHLEHEM! And when Jesus is eight days old they have him circumcised, as God’s Law to Moses commands. They also gave him the name Jesus, as the angel Gabriel had directed earlier. (Luke 2:21)

    The Lady mass On Saturdays is something that has also fallen out of Practiced or practiced with any pomp or ceremony in the Church sadly. it was very common in the middle ages all the way into the mid 19'th century in some places. It fell out of fashion due to worries and concerns by some in the church that the blessed mother was getting to much veneration in the church and there was worries it would impead Conversions of Protestant Heretics. so the lady mas was toned down or done away with alltogether.

    • @miachambers830
      @miachambers830 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of things in the Catholic Church have, as you say, ‘gone out of fashion’..! After Vatican II, Mass began being said ‘in the vernacular’..! (We sheep followed). Then, it was ‘resurrected’ so to speak, by those who didn’t think it should have been changed. Are we going back to the Latin traditions..? I thought the Pope put a ban on celebrating Mass in Latin. However, it is still happening. It’s as if we’re celebrating Mass in the catacombs again..! Under cover of darkness. Very secretively. I’m finding it very difficult to put any stock in God’s representatives here on earth. If it weren’t my belief in HIM, I would constantly be in a state of confusion..! God bless… and pray for cohesion in the church, to take the place of the schism I can see happening.. AGAIN..!

      Mia,
      I am one of the many Catholics that prefer the Traditional Latin Mass. Parishes in the US try to accommodate many different languages such as Spanish, Vietnamese, Brazilian, and a few others in my area of Charleston, SC. Thankfully we also have a Latin mass available. I'm not sure why there is acceptance of the Mass said in the many languages of the world but not Latin. I think there is something more behind this desire to stop this beautiful Mass said with much pomp and ceremony even at a low Mass.
      I am a devoted TLM follower even though I was not raised with it. The TLM also means I am not expected to sit through a Mass that has been turned into a carnival sideshow with its many liturgical abuses. Thankfully there are only minor issues locally at some Novus Ordo masses. The new priest at St Theresa the Little Flower is more traditional than others. I look forward to attending his vigil Mass tonight.
      My last comment on Pope Francis' edicts on limiting the TLM. I don't think a Pope can reverse what a previous Pope said was a valid form and cannot be abolished. I am not quoting Pope Benedict but the idea is there.

    So this Candlemas is to recall Mary’s obeying God’s law by going to the temple in Jerusalem and offering a sacrifice of purification after she bore Jesus. (Luke 2:21-24)
    How strange! The Catholic Church teaches that Mary was SINLESS when she conceived Jesus, yet they set aside a day to honor her performance for an act that proves that she was not sinless but imperfect, like all of Adam’a descendants. (Romans 5:12)

    • @DivineMercy_Official
      @DivineMercy_Official  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you but that's actually not what it means. She was obeying the law out of humility just like Jesus was baptized although he did not need to be. He was also circumcised and did not need to be. God bless

      @@DivineMercy_Official okay but Candlemas was celebrated long before Jesus christ and the bible your referring to was created. Candlemas isn’t a Abrahamic holiday.
      why does this video mention jesus, god or anything related to modern organized religions
      in candlemas we make candles for the changing of seasons the sun is out longer therefore we don’t use much candles during the day. restock time.
