Excellent video Harry on playing golf with a strong grip! After playing his game for almost 70 years, I don't think I want to go the "strong grip" route! I'll stay with my standard interlock grip and work more with the folding and unfolding of the right arm with your recommended body rotation while holding my Y angle. As Always, Well Done Harry!
@@harryshawgolf I don't know if you cover bunker shots! My problem is, on occasion, I take too shallow of a backswing and the ball comes out in a low trajectory, hitting the upper lip of the bunker and kicking back into the bunker. Any suggestions?
Interesting, I can have a look at this for you on Skillest and give you some personalised feedback because this could be because of a number of faults.
@harry- love these strong grip videos. Best at explaining the match ups needed to play a Strong grip. Are there any takeaway or backswing patterns that work better for strong grip players?
Thanks Alex! I haven't really thought about the backswing side of it in the videos but great shout, it would be how you set the wrist on the way back 9so the club face is in control and. not too closed.
@russkriv7370 very good question, i think it's only going to help improve your golf swing and if you're finiding you're lead arm gets very flexed around impact area and it's your lead arm that you're suffering with he golfers elbow. I'd give this a try, however, i do know someone who can help you get rid of this sooner than i could ever be able to, if you'd like an introduction let me know!
@russkriv7370 potentially, but to be certain, it's worth me taking a look at a few videos of your golf swing. If you head over to the Skillest app, follow me i can take a look at your swing as we can discuss the best ways to protect your golfers elbow whilst improving your golf swing.
@@harryshawgolf Thanks Harry. I have just started Dry Needling sessions with my Physical Therapist to hopefully clear my golfers elbow. I have put the clubs down for then next month or two. When I start to swing again, I will look at the App. In the meantime, where can I get the Tour Rotation Stick?
@russkriv737 sounds like a plan, all the best for your recovery with golfer elbow. It might be worth downloading and follow my profile on Skillest anyway as we can keep in touch on there. Also, you can get the tour rotation stick here from Golf Swing Systems.... Use code SHAW5 www.golfswingsystems.co.uk/
Incidentally, I found your video when I was working on exactly the same concept. I originally learned about strong grip from Johnny Miller (th-cam.com/video/avt9kDIut24/w-d-xo.html ) . So the key question is, can you have strong grip and still release the club later !
Release the club later yes, because you'll be promoting more shaft lean that influences a more open face as mentioned in the video. Great to hear you're working on this concept and thanks for commenting. Driver edition coming out today!
@FGrecoJR he has a strong right hand grip for sure, maybe not so much with his left, but everything explained in this video would work well with anyone right or left hand being strong when gripping the club.
@harryshawgolf I agree with that. A very strong grip feels great for me but not a lot of great players have severely strong grips. More so long drive guys.
@harryshawgolf I meant great players as in PGA Tour greats. Jones, Hogan, Jack, Watson, Norman, Faldo, Tiger, Phil, Vijay, Koepka, Scheffler etc. Most all time greats don't have a super strong grip. Doesn't mean it's not possibly the future but I just meant so far throughout history.

Thank you John, is there anything else you’d like to see me cover on the channel?

yeah i've tried it all over the years and the strong grip is what makes life easier for me tbh.
It's good you've found something that works great for you. Have you looked at the driver version yet? I uploaded this yesterday.

Hey Harry, is showing 2 1/2 knuckles on left hand grip considered standard? 3 may be strong?
Yes 2 to 2 and a half knuckles is considered as neutral and anything past that 3 is ok but 4 upwards is “strong”.
@harryshawgolf I’m dealing with a case of golfers elbow, going on 4 months now. Do you think this can help protect my elbow?

I play a strong left hand three knuckles showing, and a neutral right hand
Interesting, and how does this work for controlling the ball flight, do you tend to draw the ball or fade the ball?
Dustin Johnsons grip is not severely strong

@FGrecoJR you'll be surprised, i've had a lot of golfers come and see me for lessons with strong grips, hence i post content about it!
