    Great job! You mentioned the lack of a high temp primer. VHT makes a high temp primer , 900 deg, for brake calipers. Also the same series has a high temp clear coat available.

    I love the build. I am about ready to start my smoker build. I have the same size tank that you used, and have been back and forth on the design I wanted for my trailer. I am going to go with your design. I still need to get a little more metal together and a few weekends. Pray mine comes out nearly as good as yours. Really enjoyed your video.

    Damn nice build. Good job. I love it I just hope the fire box doesn’t get destroyed by a speed bump. I can’t tell exactly how much ground clearance it has but that’s a mighty fine build. If you don’t mind me asking what did it run you to build that? I don’t want to sell them I plan on going in the business catering BBQ but I love this build I definitely have the skills to build one. I’d like to add a griddle for mine. This is definitely bad ass

  • @M_Ladd

    You gonna need a larger hole than that for a drain! A hunky of fat will plug that drain hole up in an instant! You should also cut the flue pipe out on the inside to the top of the tank otherwise smoke will linger in the top. Like to have seen the finished inside but all in all a fantastic job! Don't forget to autograph it!

    • @landonpike5489
      @landonpike5489  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fat becomes liquid when rendered, the drain has never plugged up. The purpose of the pipe being down below top tank level is to create a more even smoke throughout the cooker, it helps to create turbulence. The long flue draws very well. And yes you can cook anything on the firebox. My 18" cast iron skillet fits well.

    • @M_Ladd
      @M_Ladd 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@landonpike5489Thank you for responding! Sounds awesome, as long as it draws really well! You did your homework, Congratulations on a very nice smoker! Still think a piece of meat or something is gonna clog up that drain on you! Lol!
      How about the heat loss from the front to the rear?
      Hope its pretty close for you!

  • @j.l.wilson2337
    @j.l.wilson2337 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    like the fact that you have the door on the passenger side to make it convenient to have with a food truck. a lot of pit builders don't realize that they are missing out on a whole lot of money just because of that one little thing.

    • @landonpike5489
      @landonpike5489  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought it made more sense on the right side because when its hooked up behind the camper I can drop the pit make a loop and park the truck and camper putting it in front of the door and, I can hang out under the awning and listen to some tunes and stay cool.

    I'm curious. Is there any concern with the firebox heating up the surrounding area and melting the brake lights or tires? This design is by far my favorite I've seen on the net. Great Job!

    • @landonpike5489
      @landonpike5489  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have been cooking on it weekly since the video and the grommets are still good as new. The channel frame dissipates heat quickly and the firebrick inside the firebox helps to contain the heat in the box and not let it out.

    • @landonpike5489
      @landonpike5489  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Fill with water and turn it up side down. Because propane is heavier than water, the water will push what ever remaining propane out the fill hole when inverted. You are then safe to cut...I used my plasma to do all cutting.

    • @jessemarin5044
      @jessemarin5044 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your tip on cutting the tank I've seen different ways to do it but I like yours the best,seems to be less work and is safe and I don't have to use inert gas to push the propane out.
