Main reason I don't think anybody is going to buy Code 11.59 is it doesn't look iconic. Royal oak looked so different when it came and anybody can tell its royal oak because of its distinct iconic design. This however looks super mainstream like any other watch. Also I find dial's look cheap
Actually I really like this when the Royal Oak, and its subsequent siblings, leave me a bit cold. The dial is beautiful in its simplicity, even when the case is complex, especially from an engineering point of view. So, yeah, I like it.
The 3-hand versions (like this) look fairly awkward, but the chronograph and perpetual calendar are beautiful. Some watches just need dial complexity (imagine how bare a Speedmaster would look without the sub-dials and minute track).

I love this watch. The case in itself is beauty, but in brushed pink gold finish with white dial - it is impeccable. The glass with double curve effect, is like a signature for this watch. It gives it a nautical look. A hint of 19th century ship brass compasses, instrument, but distinguished.
I've never really liked the royal oak, too garish, to crass. The 11.59 on the other hand is handsome, subtle, but with enough design to be interesting. I think it looks great. A winner.

8.58 in the presentation says it all.... "I'm a firm believer in your opinion being own!" We all reflect our own biases and thoughts. I find the 11.59 to be absolutely stunning. I am reminded of a very wise friend who states "It's sophistication is hidden in its simplicity". This watch is a beauty, and I'd love to own it. With that said, had I not watched the video on the Grand Seiko Snowflake and the Lange Saxonia Thin, I would probably have thought the AP faultless. But after seeing the beautiful finishing of the Grand Seiko and the Lange, my eye started seeing fine details on the AP that didn't quite reach the same level of finish at the other two. The hands, there were some fine specks along the edges that looked like tiny gouges (which would only show up under magnification, but still). Then reversing the watch, I was seeing the same kind of tiny imperfections on a number of the parts. Part of this results from the brushed surface of many parts, the tiny groves creating a break along the edges. Then there were the gears. Look at the Lange in particular. The teeth of the gears were polished! That tiny attention to detail elevates the Lange to another level. Same with the beveled edges of the movement, no specks or other imperfections of any kind under the magnification of the video. The Audemars is an expensive luxury watch, but the Lange really is on top of its game. Still, a beautiful watch though.

Perhaps this is meant for a specific audience that really just want to lose themselves in the details of what they wear as opposed to projecting a very obvious statement on their wrist? Whatever the case may be, I believe there will be buyers here. This video definitely highlights this watch in ways AP themselves did not in their own unveiling.
This video proves one thing: the creation of the RO and ROO has been a double-edged sword for the brand. Make another RO and ROO, and expect applause. Make a non-RO or ROO, and expect criticism. IMO, the watch is attractive. It is clean, classic and sporty.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Code 11.59 is a beautiful simple looking dress watch. I think with time the Audemars Piguet fan will learn to love the watch. People were expecting a sport watch design. Dress watches are not as popular as sport watches today.
Let it be absolutely clear: Code 11:59 is endlessly more beautiful, more stylish, more classy, more elegant, more understated, more exquisite and more exceptional in the detail than any Royal Oak will ever be!
The finishing on the watch is outstanding! I also love the case. The lacquer dial is also beautiful. However, I believe the markers and indices are the shortcoming of this watch.
It has a beautiful sense of modern formality. The shape and finish of the sides of the case are beautiful and the skeletonized lugs are devastatingly dressy. The dial is incredible and the numerals look like jewelry. Now look what you’ve done to me.
I really like it. AP’s target audience with this is a very affluent customer after a subtle dress watch with a layer of tech and touches that you can only appreciate with ownership. The quality and finishing is incredible and I would love to spend some time with one because you can only take in this level of design and quality with the piece in your hand and on your wrist. Most of the criticism is because it’s the other end of the design spectrum to the Royal Oak which is what AP wanted to achieve. My dream collection would be the newer 41mm Royal Oak and one of these 👍🏼
You should do a video on one of those beautiful old fashioned bracelet watches. They are so beautiful, I'm surprised this channel has not yet done a video on them, especially given how important they were in the history of watchmaking
It's a stunning work of art seriously, it's unfussy in as much as the design is form over function. I hope it is violently expensive and becomes within the top ten of all time given that time. However I've got a good looking Timex...…. job done.
The code 11.59 story really started with the perpetual calendar where the internal bezel, dial language came together and is pure beauty. Unfortunately moving down the line to fulfill sale to the selective masses really diluted the dna. Maybe the goal here is to not follow the traditional watch brand approach of launching a lot of variations for one line but rather exercise restraint and allow the line to evolve over several years. Why is there a need to fulfill a different purpose watch for the 11.59 concept? Its a tail of marketing driving the concept rather then the concept driving the marketing. The watch presented here is probably the worst version with the case design being sufficient enough to carry the entire package when in fact as you noted the dial is probably the most important trait. The numerals seem to fit a watch designed by Porsche. In any case keep up the awesome reviews! Ur one of the best
A lot of people say that the dial is too simple. I disagree, there's a lot going inside of it, and the proportion of the components inside the dial is the main culprit of somewhat disastrous execution. However, looking it at in flesh makes a lot of a difference. This is a 4/5 watch.
Well done on finishing this review with the almost subliminal suggestion that the Code 11 is somehow layered and mysterious and will perhaps become the choice of those with subtle minds and refined tastes. I suspect you’ll have quite a few of these pieces second-hand which you’ll need to shift as best you can over the next coup,e of years, so a bit of marketing groundwork now won’t go amiss.
The Code 11.59 is actually great in terms of case design, finishing and the dedicated new movement. All it takes is improving the dial design of some models.
I actually like the look of the 1159 and think it would be a nice watch in the metal. I think the immense dislike of the watch comes from how they advertised and teased the watch before it's release. With statements like "the most revolutionary watch in the industry since the royal Oak" (I may have paraphrased slightly) . I think if it had purely been released as a new collection to the brand without the bold statements then it would have been received better. The release created a lot of controversy among the collectors and now we are nearly a year since it was launched, we are still talking about it. Looks like AP won.
The difference between the Royal Oak when it was presented and this 11.59 is clear. The R.O. was a totally new kind of design (with Zenith Defy family) made by Genta, it was a revolution on its own. This is just a mixture of already existing designs. We can see a bit of Polaris and fashion watches mixed together
I love it. I bought one, the smoked blue 3-hander on rose gold. I already have a blue 15500, but it is not in competition with it. It's a different beast. BTW, neither my Code 11.59, nor any other watch, will ever win my heart away from my 15500 grail. But that doesn't mean it isn't a monster.
"Outrageous" and "simplicity" aren't interchangeable. See, the RO might have been outrageous when it came out, but it's not anymore. Launching a watch that looks like an entry-level Maurice Lacroix is a move that doesn't make sense for anyone, least of all AP buyers. It's a boring watch. Fin.
I think this looks great. As someone who is tired of the Royal Oak look, i'll take the relative simplicity. I think the other comments saying this won't be another royal oak or offshore are correct, simply because there isn't really a unique visual style here.
The 1159's lugs remind me of AP's capital letter **A** The RO was a futuristic take on a tired design in watchmaking. Everyone began designing angular cases, attractive and fresh in design at the time. The 1159 seems more of a throwback, one that I do welcome. It manages to accomplish many aspects of histrorical design, quite busy. Unfortunately, these details aren't as striking from a distance as the RO's were upon its release. In a 38mm case and no date, this would be perfect. As always, Thank you!
I love a lot of things about the watch, nice to have a leather strap, and an absolutely stunning case and movement. That being said, it desperately needs to replace the dial with something better. Once AP produces a better dial, then the watch is gonna be a beast
It is gorgeous to see it in person. Its like a modern interpretation of the most royal design ever, the most posh car you'd ever own would pair perfectly with this watch with class and style.
It’s a lovely watch. I suspect if this was not an AP people would love it more. It has the beautiful simplicity and elegance of the Explorer and the Submariner. It suits casual and formal. The public’s expectations were of something breathtaking and ground breaking. They received something timeless and beautiful. Sounds pretty good to me.
This watch comes in many variants! Any where from 20k to 200kplus. White gold yellow gold rose gold etc. Automatic. Calander. Chronograph. Tourbillion. Etc. So a person has a good variety to chose from. Fair play to AP. Im looking forward to purchasing one soon.
Case looks great but the dial completely ruins the look of the watch. 1) Replace the 3 6 9 12 numerals with white gold lume sticks 2) Drag the "Audemars Piguet" printing down and put the "AP" logo above it (or under the center pinion, like the 15202) 3) DW at 3 PM Just 3 simple changes would make this such an iconic and timeless watch! The perpetual calendar version looks so much better, please bring it to the cannel!
So, this watch is Indeed beautiful. It's finished to a superb level, but it doesn't feel like something new. Definitely something different for AP, but not different for the industry and that might represent a problem.
I don't know. I tried out the 11.59 and it's stunning. And I like that it's controversial, which means that it will take some years, but I believe in the next decade people are going to realise what they've missed.
@@idontknow9862 I'm watching on a MacBook. Every other video sounds fine. It seems there is a problem with the video and not my hardware as others have reported problems too.
The ONLY valid conclusion here is this: Watchfinder has some Code 11.59 models in stock and wants to unload them at top dollar. Watchfinder is NOT an impartial review site. Their mission is to sell watches in the grey market and add to the bottom line of their new parent, Richemont.
People with more money than sense tend to forget what defines luxury: less is more, elegance. Timeless values IMO. I appreciate it's purity and its message in a messy world of bling, noise and tasteless fashion. Well done AP for once again breaking the mould.
Not gonna work, buddy. Someone screwed up in a different department for buying it, so now you need to sell it. Drop by 50% and you will have more luck.
I love the Code 11:59 chrono, was able to try it on in the boutique, the movement is beautiful, the touch of the watch is amazing, this is the watch where you have to try it, feel it to love it
I’m not sure anyone else has mentioned it, but this 11:59 is a copy of the Mont Blanc Timewalker line. There details that have been changed on the AP, but the basic design looks too close to not call it out. Thanks for the video, great content as usual.

treznorify Part of it might be that Govberg got their AP AD license taken away, as AP is boutique only now.
My unpleasant experience with Govberg does not bear repeating, but this news brings a smile.
While I respect the Royal Oak, I've never really liked the look, this though is beautiful.
Now this is one hell of a beautiful timepiece.
My dream collection would be the newer 41mm Royal Oak and one of these 👍🏼
It is your first time to fail to sell a watch to me.
Was going to write the same thing
Probably because he doesn't like it. He is reviewing, not selling.
@@josephm.6453 most likely will end up selling one, so every review is an attempt to sell
Not for lack of trying though
Not for lack of trying though
You should do a video on one of those beautiful old fashioned bracelet watches. They are so beautiful, I'm surprised this channel has not yet done a video on them, especially given how important they were in the history of watchmaking
It's a stunning work of art seriously, it's unfussy in as much as the design is form over function.
I hope it is violently expensive and becomes within the top ten of all time given that time.
However I've got a good looking Timex...…. job done.
Hello from France 😀 when I see this " model" VS the Grand Seiko...I understand why I love so much the Spring drive Grand Seiko 😍
grand seiko are the same not good design. not much differences.
My Favorite out of all watches in the Code 11.59 Starwheel. I dont get why the 11.59 is Overall so poorly received :(
If I'm spending that type of $$$$, I'll stick to the brand image Royal Oak.
Fin.
I think it’s a beautiful watch. Your display of the watch brings out all of its beauty.
AP went from the 1972 Royal Oak to the 2019 Royal Joke
I hope they send one to Harry, formerly known as Prince :D
OK Boomer
@@vincent5 have you figured out this alone or with an assistant ?...

I think this looks great. As someone who is tired of the Royal Oak look, i'll take the relative simplicity. I think the other comments saying this won't be another royal oak or offshore are correct, simply because there isn't really a unique visual style here.
The future is the dress watch on fashion, again. Wait just somes years...
I think the code 1159 is very beautiful(in all versions) and one of my favorite watches... I only wish I could have one!
The most beautiful digits font ever.
Basically an excuse for customers to buy another watch before giving them a royal oak
Hey there, i really enjoy watch(-ing) *lol* your videos! Keep up the good work.
How about a review about the AP royal oak concept?
Under the hi-def lens, why does the finishing on this watch seem...off? Like it was made on a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon?
It just looks cheap. Like one of those ‘affordable’ online 150$ watches
Absolutely beautiful. I will own one. One day. Hopefully.
Is 4K coming to watchfinder soon?
I don't understand why the numbers 5-60 appear around the perimeter. Please explain.
I want one! It looks stunning
I like it tho. Looks classic may timeless
Can we just take a minute to appreciate the videography and the voice over?
I like this watches, I know that Royal Oak are popular, but I do not like them, but when I saw Code 11.59 I’ve immediately placed the order.
The 1159's lugs remind me of AP's capital letter **A**
The RO was a futuristic take on a tired design in watchmaking.
Everyone began designing angular cases, attractive and fresh in design at the time.
The 1159 seems more of a throwback, one that I do welcome.
It manages to accomplish many aspects of histrorical design, quite busy.
Unfortunately, these details aren't as striking from a distance
as the RO's were upon its release.
In a 38mm case and no date, this would be perfect.
As always, Thank you!
I love a lot of things about the watch, nice to have a leather strap, and an absolutely stunning case and movement. That being said, it desperately needs to replace the dial with something better. Once AP produces a better dial, then the watch is gonna be a beast
...and a better hands!
It is gorgeous to see it in person. Its like a modern interpretation of the most royal design ever, the most posh car you'd ever own would pair perfectly with this watch with class and style.
Any Roger Dubuis reviews upcoming? Especially the Sympathie or Easy Diver?
It would have been interesting to hear a bit about the entirely new movement that AP designed for this watch.
Yes, yes it does.
It's a good day when watchfinder releases a new video.
This watch is so hated, it’s destined to be a classic
Case looks great but the dial completely ruins the look of the watch.
1) Replace the 3 6 9 12 numerals with white gold lume sticks
2) Drag the "Audemars Piguet" printing down and put the "AP" logo above it (or under the center pinion, like the 15202)
3) DW at 3 PM
Just 3 simple changes would make this such an iconic and timeless watch!
The perpetual calendar version looks so much better, please bring it to the cannel!
Here's a quick sketch of IMO would be a great improvement to the 1159:

Elegant but simple, and built to an excellent standard. Do like.
Thanks for your videos, I quite enjoy them. Cheers.
So, this watch is Indeed beautiful. It's finished to a superb level, but it doesn't feel like something new. Definitely something different for AP, but not different for the industry and that might represent a problem.
AP is a one hit wonder... the Royal Oak and it’s offshore. Just my opinion.
nah ur right its true. This looks like a watch from the local department store.
I don't know. I tried out the 11.59 and it's stunning. And I like that it's controversial, which means that it will take some years, but I believe in the next decade people are going to realise what they've missed.
Audio quality seems lower in this video than your usual standards
EJ1234 It's time for a new phone
@@idontknow9862 I'm watching on a MacBook. Every other video sounds fine. It seems there is a problem with the video and not my hardware as others have reported problems too.
The ONLY valid conclusion here is this: Watchfinder has some Code 11.59 models in stock and wants to unload them at top dollar. Watchfinder is NOT an impartial review site. Their mission is to sell watches in the grey market and add to the bottom line of their new parent, Richemont.
I’ve seen a similar looking watch on AliExpress!! One of APs design characteristics is the guilloche dial-too bad they don’t use this on the 11.59.
People with more money than sense tend to forget what defines luxury: less is more, elegance. Timeless values IMO. I appreciate it's purity and its message in a messy world of bling, noise and tasteless fashion. Well done AP for once again breaking the mould.
You all: mehh
Me: I want one!
Great video again, good job.
Please a review of Breguet 7787 BR, Accuracy, Value, real manufacture ?
Thanks !!!!!
The numbers on this watch look funky to me, and not in a good way.
They spelled "Invicta" wrong on the dial
Is the balance staff showing lateral movement at 5:06? Nice watch though!
Please, can you get your hands on a Philippe Dufour Simplicity and make a video about it?
I want to see close up shots of this beautiful watch, which is one of the most coveted watches in the world and also has a great story, would make a good video.
Personally . I really love it . It's an excellent time piece .
Technically excellent, but if the end product just doesn't look good or interesting, whats the point.
SevenW25 V Technically excellent how? I could see that argument for maybe casio and omega. Maybe mille, i wouldnt know.
