I've seen Yngwie many times. Your picking is cleaner and more precise in a way that I've never heard before... The transitions between ultra high speed picking and tapped passages are also completely insane. So very clean and articulate. No one on this earth can deny your virtuosity. I hope you achieve a huge level of commercial success as well. Simply awe inspiring. Troy Grady should be analyzing your picking technique.
I played it in a way I thought it would sound best. I could play it exactly like malmsteen, but what’s the point when he’s already done it? I think they were just paying me a (much welcomed) compliment to highlight how much more accurate it sounds with alt picking. I don’t economy pick simply because I prefer the sound of alt picking, it’s more consistent. Economy picking has its distinct sound in comparison, which I like, but prefer alt picking. I don’t think he was ‘calling out’ Troy Grady, I think he was just adding to his previous compliments. I don’t think his comment was that deep lol

The “rising force” is strong with this one- hadn’t heard this one before, but I’m certain your flair has accentuated it even more- brilliant work as always, mate! And that Duvell…👌
I’ve listened to malmsteens live version from G3 a million times - just love it - and your cover absolutely nails how I remember it, maybe just a little cleaner.. also I’ve never watched a malmsteen cover before, but I still think this is one of the best. Good job man!
I just listened to Max Ostros version - love him too - and not that it should matter but if I had to pick, I’d still choose your take based on just how clean it is
Thank you very much! It was a challenge to say the least, I think the tone kinda made any undesirable noise more pronounced so it took a lot of getting used to and I was worried about the ‘cleanliness’ of this, so I’m glad you think that! Thanks! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@Chronic_meshuggah_face thanks man, very kind of you! I’ve watched his version several times so I wanted to make sure it was at least comparable in some way, he set the bar very high for covers of Blitzkrieg
I was in Hollywood in '86. I met and watched Paul Gilbert and so many others. I saw world class talent every day and this is would class. I would LOVE to see this live from 5 away like I saw them back then. I just subscribed and shared with a former student and he LOVED it. Now I can't watch any more today. I'm spent!
Thank you very much! And especially for spreading the word, truly appreciated 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 hopefully I can get out and do this live soon, it’s well overdue! 🤘🏼
The picking is like MAB somehow and no anchor picking . Really focused cleanly picked with the same dynamic range . I can't believe they came down on Cesario Filho for copywrites on full album covers of YJM
Yeah I don’t didn’t use my fingers as the anchor point in this vid, at this sort of speed it’s usually my palm knuckles. But I’ve taken on MABs anchor point when I’ve had to go beyond 220bpm (16ths), so much more efficient!
@@Tramaineguitar You are great man! I wanted to ask you if I can use your backing track of this song to do a keyboard playthrough if there is no problem. I will tag you on credits of course
Hi Jonathan. As a true early days Yngwie fan i must say i really enjoyed your cover. Lots of energy and really tight playing. Congrats. Looking for your new record this year. Cheers
Haha. The way you framed the shot for the side views, it's obvious the star is your bicep, not your fretting hand ! Anyway, won't blame you for being proud of your hard work. Sounding great !
Thanks! But usually, I just throw the camera haphazardly in a rough place, because as I move, I’m in and out of shot anyway - so I think with this video, this angle was likely the one that didn’t have half of me cut out 🤣
Awesome cover, and great tone for that song - btw your arpeggios are immaculate! We also need more close-ups of your veiny biceps when doing long runs lol ;P
Thanks! To be honest I wasn’t totally satisfied with this performance; I love Malmsteen style tones but they always bring out the imperfections in my playing haha 😆 so it took a lot more practice than usual. I’ll keep a mental note of that haha 😋
Just watched this again and noticed you have something very much in common with Michael Schenker, you both hardly use the little finger. Awesome stuff.
Yeah, up until about 5 years ago, I was the opposite where I’d hardly use my ring finger - but always found it hard to do phrases with a wheats intervals or stretches. So no I kinda think of the pinky as a ‘bonus’ finger haha. Most scalar patterns are 3-note-per-string, so unless it’s a linear arpeggio or something like that, I try not to rely on it. I also have larger hands, and chunkier fingers than average, so especially when playing higher up on the neck, things can feel a bit cramped.
Your arm muscles are almost as impressive as your playing 😜 I think Yngwy wishes he could play his music as tight as you do! I think you are going to be famous man!!
How do you mix the guitar with the backing track ? it sounds really good. When I try to record a lead guitar over a backing track, it doesnt sounds "glued"...
This was actually in the mix, so not over a backing track. I created this backing track so I was able to get it glued in a bit more. I think it’s more to do with the mastering, and getting the EQ right in the backing track for the lead to sit right.
At first there was one, but I came up with another original last minute so it’s another totally Original album. But I plan to release the cover I intended for it pretty soon 🙏🏼
Built like a greek god shredding neoclassical. How do you like the mayones for lead? Im considering to buy one but heard some complaints about neck thickness (ill try before i buy tho)
Thanks 🙏🏼 I love them, I’ve found distinct differences between the Aquila, Duvell and Regius so far. They all play differently, but just as well. Personally, I prefer the Duvell for lead, BUT, the other two I’ve tried, legato seems effortless, as if there aren’t even strings on the guitars. Yes, I’m a Mayones Artist, but personally, I’ve not played anything that comes close to Mayones for what I want in a guitar. The craftsmanship is unmatched in my opinion.
@@Tramaineguitar awesome, thanks for your reply. Looks wise I'm totally sold on the Duvel, not so much on the other guitars. I'll play one this weekend to see what it's like!
You cutting some weight before christmas? veins pop out haha 🎅 Have you some forearm exercises what wont hurt playing ability, like if i do hammer curls my hands are fked
No I haven’t trained for a while, I did go back for a month or so in august but with the album production, I’ve not had time since. And before that I hadn’t trained for a few years. But wether I’ve trained or not, I’ve always eaten as well as I could, and that’s the main aspect of keeping in shape. Balance 😁 I never trained my forearms in isolation, but I did and still do (when I train) include hammer curls and a lot of dumbbell exercises
