It's crazy how you can get homesick for a world that doesn't even exist. Jeremy Soule outdid himself on this OST.

I recovered from a spinal injury while playing this game. My little brother built me a pc to play it while i couldnt do anything else. it was my world. I have always loved music and loved games. Skyrim changed my life the same way DBZ changed me as a child. I hide epic stuff in the woods along hiking trails now that im recovered to help create magic for those who seek it

Bethesda may have some odd practices, for consumers and employees… They may have some ups and downs with releases (Fallout 76 and 4, the many re-releases of Skyrim, etc.) But the one thing they have and always will is nail the OST. Their soundtracks are seriously unmatched when it comes to atmosphere.

@@twentytwo138 World slowly becoming a crazy place...
It's like they're trying to make it better, but it always comes worse... Don't worry, one day it'll all turn into such a mess, they'll regret all their decisions.
Never heard of what happened to mr. Soule, but feel very sorry for him..
Skyrim is always in our hearts~

@@twentytwo138 so somebody gets sexually assaulted and you refuse to believe it because the assailant got fired and that is inconvenient for you?
How u think the person they assaulted feels? I would say a little more than inconvenienced.
Not saying false accusations don’t happen, but the accusations by Aerelie Brighton against Jeremy Soule are definitely credible, and defending the guy before actually knowing wtf he did is ignorant at the very least.
You wouldn’t be talking if it happened to your daughter, sister, or wife.

I wrote a similar comment, and you describe it even better than I had. The immersion of skyrim, and the memories associated with this music and the visuals just opens the flood gates for once forgotten memories

    • @sophieh.4097

lovely message and I totally agree,,,,sometimes what makes gaming so great are the memories associated with the time you played it

    • @slowrotor7391
      @slowrotor7391 4 ปีที่แล้ว +83

@@unclecracker7454 the game has its own nostalgia that is true to itself. But that nostalgia can play a part in an even thicker nostalgia outside of the game and within the room it resides in. Within the people who are sharing that room and the experience of skyrim with you. Dont forget that people come and go. But the game remains. I could no longer put up with what she was doing to me behind my back. But the good memories stay true in Tamerial and our mincraft maps which I can longer find the heart to play on. Forever solidified in the past. Good times can turn bad very fast, dont take them for granted while they are there.

Shaking off rain in forgotten taverns. Staring out across the night with hearts full and aching for reasons secret to all but ourselves.

Never played videogames much as a kid, had too many siblings to share a single ps3 with. I actually picked up a copy of skyrim at a garage sale for $2 in 2018 with the intention of flipping it for a small profit, to which never happened (Thanks ADHD). It had been collecting dust until a month ago, when i decided to humor my older brother's advice and play the game. I am currently on my first 60 hours of the game and I AM FLOORED! (along with my jaw). I play when i can, and when i do. I cannot contain my pure almost childlike joy. I feel transported where my existence feels anything but dull. What a masterpiece. Thanks big bro.

Skyrim is my home, I spent my childhood exploring it’s seemingly endless mountains and valleys, as a kid I would sit in breeze home or windstad manor and watch the fireplace as this peaceful music southed my soul. Those were simpler times without the hardship and worry of today. But I still find myself as an adult dropping back into my home from time to time to experience the tranquility I could never find in the real world. I will always be proud to call myself a true son of Skyrim.

I'm willing to bet when Jeremy Soule came in with his score and showed it to the crew at Bethesda. They just probably had their jaws on the floor in absolute disbelief. I feel sometimes that 50% at least of what makes this game unforgettable is this score. I'll never forget the score for as long as I live I listen to it on a weekly basis and I listened to it when my mom died. There's so much of the emotion and nostalgia of 2011/12 that really hits me when I hear this and it's not just nostalgia though, it really is tone for tone and cadence for cadence the greatest video game soundtrack of all time.

You know, life's funny. When I was younger and I lived with my mom, I used to play games in the basement. Distinctly, I remember a time she came down to do laundry while I was explored the wilds of Skyrim. It was night time in-game and a beautiful track was playing. My mom never paid attention to my gaming, didn't understand it, and generally thought it was a waste of time. However, this night, as she was folding laundry, she stopped and said, "My God, that music is beautiful!" Her voice took me out of my immersion ever so briefly and I said back, "It really is." After she finished folding, she went upstairs and shut the door. What's amazing is that we experienced a moment of beauty and peace together, in awe and silence, and it's because of this game. I'd like to believe there was a part of her that wanted to stay there a bit longer just to soak it in. To this day, this is the only game that made my mom stop and acknowledge the wonder that can exist in a video game. I'll always remember this moment until the day I die. Thanks, Skyrim.

I'll never forget my first Skyrim character (Taline the stealthy Nord thief), exploring the massive world, dungeons, quests, buildings for the first time I just... was so immersed, I really felt like I was there and I took great pride in the hoard of jewels on my bedroom floor (Breezehome babay) and various valuables I collected through my travels, spending hours setting them all up perfectly only to log back in and find everything on the floor (ok, unimmersive but still). I miss that, now it seems impossible to get that same "completely immersed" feeling anymore. Perhaps because I was younger... however Skyrim lives on in my heart. I'm gonna play the *shit* out of TES 6.

    • @teleporterofdoom

I was like that with my first TES game, Morrowind, and that continued through Oblivion and into Skyrim.
I always prayed the predominant race of the region in my first playthroughs but always wound up recreating my original Morrowind character; Olarim, the Dunmer spellsword, incarnate of the prophesied Nerevar and wayward adventurer who stopped the devil, Dagoth Ur and put an end to the blight on Vvardenfell. Eventually he moved on and became the hero of Kvatch, stopping Mehrunes Dagon and the Oblivion Crisis in Cyrodiil before traveling north to Skyrim. It was there, in the bitter cold land bathed in the blood of brothers-at-war and dragons that he learned of his true destiny; the Dragonborn.
He was a magician, a subtle rogue, a stalwart Companion and a hero of the people. Always loyal to the Empire and forever it's protector.

I played Skyrim at a time in my life that I miss painfully, times I can never get back with ones that are now gone. Reading through the comments and just appreciating you guys and the hard times you've gone through and shared here. I genuinely believe if this music played through speakers in the cities all around the world we'd all unite. The power of music.

I think this is the most recent game that brings me nostalgia. God, sometimes I would find a beautiful place in the game and let my character just stand there taking in the huge valleys, sky aurora, and infrequent dragons that rolled by. Sometimes I'd let the faint sound track like this play and do my homework, knowing once I finished I could jump right back on and start hunting for some more giant toes.
Perhaps the most profound statement I've heard recently is "What if these are the good ol' days?". So now I try to live in every moment as if I'd look back at this time and think "Man, I miss those days."

This take me back to 2011. I just got a PS3 and I picked up Skyrim on a whim because I remembered playing Oblivion. I had no idea just starting the game would transport me to a world I’ve kept coming back to for over a decade.
I love this game. I love this world. I love the modders who kept the game alive and the community that, like me, keeps coming back.

I’ve been a gamer my entire life and have played a huge range of games over the years. Strangely I never played Skyrim until last year. One thing I will say is no other game gives off that “feeling” Skyrim gives off. I find myself listening to these playlists whenever I’m stressed or can’t sleep. They just bring a wave of calm over me. What a timeless masterpiece
