  • Naledi Pandor, Minister for International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, addresses the general debate of the 77th Session of the General Assembly of the UN (New York, 20 - 26 September 2022).
    The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization. Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations. Each of the 193 Member States of the United Nations has an equal vote.
    The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the UN and its work are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter.
    The UN has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world.
    But one thing has stayed the same: it remains the one place on Earth where all the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity.

    UN western members has no respect for our Africa leaders yet Africa leaders has refused to unite and strength Africa politically, economical and military to uplifte her image; the room is always empty when Africa leaders are speaking eloquently but they sat listening to people who don't sit for theirs..shame on us...

      We are actually respectful, which is perceived as weakness and perhaps lack of intelligence but it is none of that. It is called humanity, true humanity which consists of respect for others, humility and an understanding that you are a person because of others. the same can not be said about some people. Africans leave and breath humanity which sets them apart from the rest. Reason why they do not have a record of invading others and having other's blood on their hands. They don't even seek to dominate, loot or ruin anyone, they just want to leave their African lifes. The attitude of self importance actually dominates the actions and decisions of those other people, but there is a reckoning coming. The world was reminded of Africa's relevance and importance in March and April UN votes.

      What she says is just a story of being a smooth talker no implication. It's a long-time thing, it's not gonna work African people think these former colony languages work and they compare themselves with their former school who are not doing well in life and they say see we are prominent people because we can enter the HOUSE of UNGA. Whatever they say has no effect on the western countries and sits are empty as she talks

Only when you are unit the collective west and USA will listen to you and obey your demands. As a continent with a wonderful land, people and nature you have to prepare yourself to get united. Otherwise these speeches can do nothing to make your world beautiful. Love from sri lanka 🇱🇰.

      Nosipho I beg to differ with your notion that asserts that the command of Enlgish language makes reflects the level of intelligence & respect that one deserves. This is a neocolonial view of thinking that English heritage is better than others yet that is not the case. What matters is the content, and yes our Naledi Pandoor has proven that she deserves her seat on the table with the likes of India's Kaishankar, Russia's Lavrov, Hungary's Peter, etc. In fact her command of English deterred many South Africans from taking her serious, it was only when we decided to listen to what is beyond that accent that we realised her value in SA politics.

If she can’t articulate in English, the only language she knows , nobody will understand her. She did very well. To come to your level, UN is not SA. I have always wondered what African countries have been doing in such gatherings when they are fully aware that neither their voices nor opinions count? What sort of naivity is ours? This is our fourth plight, the other three being ignorance, diseases, and hunger. When will we be able to grasp what is going on?

    Powerful articulation, makes me miss the great late Robert Mugabe, quite incisive and adequately inclusive of most and various pertinent issues.

      Mugabe was a dictator please he committed genocide of more than 40.000 Ndebeles go on TH-cam and type Matabeland genocide or type victims of gugurahundi genocide testimonies by Zenzele Ndebele. He was the puppet of the West only when things became sour with the West after Tony Blair refused to give him money that's when he started making noise. The man distroyed the country and caused division and tribalism. We lost our relatives because of that devil

    If the UN fails to see global concerns in a objective way, architects and force systems that will fight poverty and inequality as well as guaranteeing peace, most human world experience will remain severely affected as it is today. We can't afford to be haunted by these calamities and social crisis going forward with the presence of such a reputable wellfair tool(UN). Reformation on UN is needed to achieve its global parental roles and not to serve for the interests of minority Nations. Thanks Mama 'Pando'❤❤❤

    Wow, africa is more peaceful landmass on earth than the rest, how i wish africa is isolated and existed in different world and alone it worries nothing, surely africa is not forgotten. Africa is rich in natural resources, less diverse in major religion also, and africa is a peace loving people if only calibrated in much better economy like the developed countries now have.

      What does that mean?

    • @thehogus
      @thehogus ปีที่แล้ว

      @@honesty_-no9he It means that Naledi Pandor's government is currently doing its best to implement expropriation without compensation bills in South Africa. The same policy that destroyed Zimbabwe's economy while the ANC practiced quiet diplomacy for decades. And now she's calling on the international community to somehow save Zimbabwe? Meanwhile, no one wants to invest in South African infrastructure because they don't know if it will end up nationalized. And even if they wanted to, the ANC won't approve power generation projects unless they personally get a kickback. So yes, Naledi has a wonderful voice and speaks beautifully, but the corruption of her party currently has all South Africans sitting in the dark for ten hours a day.

    REFORM UN - The United Nations must of course, itself, be transformed so that it serves its role, cognizant of current global dynamics. it is unacceptable that, 77 years after its establishment, 5 nations wield this disproportionate decision-making power in the united nations system as a whole. Transformation of the UN must include more representative, transparent and accountable organs of global governments. For this body to be effective, the General Assembly must be revitalized. The Security Council must be reformed. We also cannot have a credible organization if it cannot hold persistent transgressors of the charter to account." ~ Naledi Pandor, Minister for International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa
