-----------------------------------A Brief History Of The 1971 K10 Pick Up!-----------------------------------------------------
The 1971 GMC K10 pickup truck holds a significant place in automotive history as part of the Chevrolet and GMC C/K series, which ran from 1960 to 2002 in various iterations. The "K" designation in the K10 model signifies it as a four-wheel-drive (4WD) truck, making it ideal for off-road enthusiasts and those who needed reliable performance in challenging terrain.
This era of trucks was characterized by rugged durability and utilitarian design, aimed at meeting the demands of work and recreation. The 1971 model year brought subtle but notable changes to the C/K series, including a redesigned grille and updated interior features.
Under the hood, the 1971 GMC K10 was typically equipped with a range of powerful engine options, including the venerable small-block and big-block V8 engines, offering a balance of power and efficiency for various applications.
The popularity of the GMC K10 during this time can be attributed to its versatility, dependability, and capability both on and off the road. These trucks were not only workhorses on the job site but also served as reliable companions for outdoor adventures and daily transportation.
Today, the 1971 GMC K10 remains a sought-after classic truck among enthusiasts and collectors, prized for its timeless design, rugged performance, and nostalgic appeal. Its enduring legacy as a symbol of American automotive ingenuity continues to captivate truck enthusiasts around the world.

I heard that pouring transmission fluid directly into the carburetor and gas tank helps keep everything lubricated. Beautiful truck btw.

I read this comment out loud to Schelly’s Shop while we where moving the truck in the video and a guy walking by with his kid said that whoever said that is smart and that it’s also good for preserving the float

Better clean that DOT-3 out the engine real well, it absorbs moisture. And it will eat the shit out of paint, but it rejuvenates rubbers amazingly, you got seals or grommets that still look good but dried out, it’ll essentially restore their flex by rehydrating the rubber.

We completely drained the engine. And pulled the heads and cleaned the cylinders unfortunately number 7 was rotted out and so was its cylinder so it was a right off from the start! Many hours of labor and a bit of money just to get it to drive to the backyard! But it was fun!

@@ShortyIndexGarage hey, just getting it to turn over and not spin a bearing is an accomplishment when it’s been sitting that long lol at least you didn’t have to break out the 4x4 wood block and pound it down.

283 wasn't available in a 1971 chevrolet , they stopped making them in 1967, are you sure it isn't at least a 307?

We checked the motor by the numbers on it and we know that this was not the original motor that was put into the truck. The truck has been put together with what seems to be a random selection of goodies, a little of this and a little of that with a sprinkle of whatever they could find! The held the Bondo in on the passenger side with a broom head!
