My Ozzy Osbourne Playlist! • Ozzy Osbourne
In this Believer guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great Ozzy Osbourne song with the incredible Randy Rhoads on guitar.
The tuning is Eb standard tuning, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb.
This transcription is based off of the live version of "Believer" as heard on the Tribute album. So make sure you are referencing that version instead of the original studio version. The Tribute version is the one that is most often requested here at GL365.
Randy plays some great riffs on this one. And as he usually did when playing live, there will be some additional fills thrown in there.
I will cover each section of the song in the order that each appears in the song.
That will include Randy Rhoads' killer guitar solo. I will demonstrate how to play this solo phrase-by-phrase.
I hope you enjoy learning yet another Randy Rhoads era, Ozzy Osbourne classic!

You’re getting into some deep Ozzy tracks that are absolutely killer! So glad you decided to do the tribute version!
@@PhilFeedback my pleasure Phillip!!
Your my favorite YT commentator ever !
@@jacobcohen1818 you must not have seen many YT vids 😆
Randy would also reach over and bend the string with his right hand below the fretted notes to raise pitch.
Randy Rhoads was a genuine, real deal musician that fell into Ozzy's lap and in 2 years gave us a BUNCH of timeless tracks. I am grateful for being able to see him play live TWICE in a 10 month period
Dude this song is one of the most bad ass riffs ever in music. I dont think anybody will ever write anything as creative.
Ur the best man thx I learn all my songs from you .
Randy definitely reigns as one of the all time greats in history. A True Legend with so many great riffs and licks. A great Ozzy song!
Killing it here lately, Carl! Thanks man, and I’ll toss a vote for S.A.T.O. also
DO S.A.T.O!!!!!!!!
Would you consider doing the Randy version of Children of the grave or S.A.T.O
children of the grave is an amazing solo, as is sato!!!
@@brian8076 DO S.A.T.O!!!!!!!!
That tone is spot on for Randy
Loving the Randy Rhoads videos!
Wow! First lay it down and now this. Thanks so much for all the lessons. Would be great to see a S.A.T.O lesson too😁
DO S.A.T.O!!!!!!!!!
Great one carl, and you are on a roll. You are going to start a whole new generation of guitar players. Do I feel the "Mother" of all Ozzy songs coming soon?
Unbelievable Carl. Was listening to this only seconds before I got the notification. Great job, will surely enjoy!
Sir, you don't realize how much you Rock my RR world...
I loved your work...but now you blow my mind!
May the Force be with you 'till the end of time...
Whenever I want to learn a song, you’re always the first place I go to, thanks so much
YESSS!!! I didn't think you'd do this lesson so soon, man! Thanks Carl....one of my favorites off of Diary of a Madman. Reminds me of the times before Covid.
Awesome lesson thanks a lot
Man you got excited for the interlude. Such a great riff
Can't believe I missed this one! top tier work carl thank you as always 🤘🤘
Still here supporting you boss
Carl brown . The best guitar teaching channel in the game .
Listened to this song/album for the first time in a long while this week, then you create this lesson. It was meant to be! 🤘😀🤘
I remember when Tribute came out. I had the Cassette and wore it out. Randy was just so awesome
One of RANDYS major influences was LESLIE WEST of MOUNTAIN and a whole lot of classical and a little EDDIE, RANDY was the best as far as I'm concerned , he was more Heavy Metal than Hard Rock, not taking nothing away from EDDIE because he was a Master in his class , as was RANDY a Master in his , great job with the video, thanks
Legit perfect timing, my guitar teacher just assigned this song to me today!
love the shirt carl! cool to see someone repping island merch!
Very Awesome ! Thanks for the lesson.😊
Whenever you cover a song by Randy, it makes me feel inadequate as a guitar player. Great lesson!
Randy was a true bad ass. Solid state amps. Not over-saturated with effects, pedals etc. just a natural raw tone and technique.
This lesson should have way more likes!
Amazing lesson!
Nice job on this one Carl. I've been on it since yesterday until about 2 am. I set my alarm for 8 am, bout to get the whole thing tight.
Badass lesson...easy to follow
Carl, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, you've touched my heart here... Keep it up....
Great lesson!
Awesome lesson
Never get tired of this video 💪🧐🎸

Sensacional esse som! Obrigado professor!!
Dude this song is bad ass
Nice work man,rr is my all time fav,are you tuned to a e flat?
Thanks a ton for this lesson carl! Kinda dumbfounded in the striking similarities between the guitar in this song and the title track diary of a madman. Would it be possible for you to make a small like mini video about the solo in the recorded version? The differences and such?
Dope lesson. Any chance for a skid row-monkey business full?
Hello Carl, could you please do any Death lesson?
Revelation (Mother Earth) it’s a bit of a slower number but I’m sure there’s other folks who would love to learn this this tune.
I love that one!
Yeah dude this track is certainly bad ass and I'm very much obliged to you Sir, as are we all, I believe haha
Brilliant! Now, full Goodbye to Romance PLEASE? :-D
Man I have a request that needs justice done. For one of the most amazing guitarists of all time whos right up there with Page, Randy, Lifeson, Vai, Blackmore, Iommi, and Angus...
We need Martin Barres/Jethro Tull's -"Aqualung" that G minor pentatonic run is just gorgeous
hate to be one of the thousands reccomending future lessons but I'd love to learn "Year to the Day" By Van Halen. its off Van Halen 3, incredibly underrated track.
Could you do ultimate sin? I’ve got most of it down but some of the cool little trail offs Jake e Lee does are hard to figure out
Could you do dreamer by Ozzy I love that song!
Great lesson as always! Just curious, as I know you use a Helix for these videos. Do you use stock cabs, IRs, or real cabinets with the Helix?
Just stock cabs
The problem with watching Randy play everything live to get hand positions, is when you watch as many live videos of him of the song that you can find, he changes that up. No disrespect to Carl, ... a great video tutorial. IMO, what was motivating Randy on that was possibly whether or not he wanted a heavier sound, compared to how tired he was at the time. When you're tried, you want everything as simplified as possible, even if it means sacrificing on your tone a little bit.
EDIT: Also, a lot of those lead fills he plays live were not in the studio recording.
Just by adding lead fills that are not in the original recording can affect his hand position
Can you point us to any videos of him playing any song differently than another video? the amount of live videos of Randy playing Ozzy stuff at all are very very few …
@@GuitarLessons365SongLessons Yes, the live versions of "Crazy Train" where you can compare different videos, and see Randy's hand playing the same parts during different shows, i ndifferent places.
It’s the last measure in the verses. Randy does that little change up as a bridge into the chorus under the lyrics, “hate”, “role” and “fair”, the last words in the verses.
I’ve seen some live videos where Randy starts that change up in the middle of the neck around by the 7th or 9th frets, and then runs the chords down the neck towards the neck.
I’ve seen this other video where he the starts the opening run at the 2nd and 4th frets.
This is a different subject, but on those verses, Randy resolves the verses with the A 5th tone chord with the open string, and then he single notes the A flat note on the 6th string at the 4th fret, then back to the open A5 chord.
On the Tribute version, Randy plays it like the record, but then changes it on the next measure when after he hits the A5 open chord, he hits the 6th strong open low “E” string, then plays the A flat at the 4th fret on string #6, and then resolves it with the A5 open chord.
Randy is all over the map with his live playing vs the studio recordings so much that, IMO, it’s overproduced and very self-indulgent.
Max Normon, the producer and recording engineer on both studio albums said that Randy’s guitar tone on the Tribute album was bad, and that Randy would’ve never approved that getting released.
Max also said that he had better recordings of those live concerts from the board, than what’s released on that Tribute album.
I always thought that myself, and it was great to see the producer of the album confirm this.
The Tribute album sounds very “tinny” and thin sounding with Randy’s tone.
Lately, all the live bootleg recordings that TH-cam used to suppress, are now popping up in my recommend feed.
Those early bootlegs blow that Tribute album out of the water.
I wish the Osbournes would let Max release those tapes he has of Randy from the board.
Respectfully, ... love your channel man!!
Yessss!!
