I feel that book buying ban. I thought I was doing sOoOoOoOo well reading books from my library instead of buying books until I updated my book purchases spreadsheet and realized I’d bought 48 books last year. 😩 This year my reading goal is in pages instead of books, so I have no excuse to not read long books or to DNF books I’m already halfway through (I never counted them towards my books read but I am SO counting the pages I read).

I set a goal of 52 since one book per week doesn’t seem as impossible as previous goals…that being said if I don’t pass this goal I will be disappointed in myself. Also to help with my physical TBR, I’m going to try to read at least 2 books maybe 3 before getting a new one
I had the same problem, then, at the beginning of the first lockdown jn march 2020 i started reading with the same goal of 12 books a year. I ended up reading 30 that year. Read 40 in 2021 and have now set the goal of 45. Long story short: Keep it up!

I'm just trying to celebrate it anytime I do actually read. At all. But especially if I finish and entire chapter, especially if I manage to finish an entire chapter all in one go. 😁😁 I have too much other life crap r/n, the things I actually enjoy doing shouldn't feel like a chore.🙃 ..but I'm having so much trouble balancing both actual chores and the things I enjoy at the moment, and it's making me less productive across the board, because I just keep waffling between feeling badly for doing things I enjoy (like reading) too much but not getting enough of the chores done and feeling crummy because I'm not reading enough whilst tackling too many chores, and I'm not really sure which compromise is better, or how to find that happier medium between the two. _i need help_ Loll😅😅 👀

The best solution to curing I-have-to-finish-this-book-even-though-I-hate-it-itis is to just flip through the rest of the book reading random pages. You learn the end while getting silly things out of context.
I wanted to read more than just fantasy and sci-fi (I'm including superhero fiction I'm this) last year and I succeeded! I read one horror and 3 mystery last year and I'm on my 4th. Don't know why I never read mystery because I always liked crime shows. I also read 3 nonfiction (not counting Biblical books) but those were for school so I don't think that counts. Now my reading goal is pretty much just read more. Last year I didn't read much except during breaks because college made me not want to read. Of my 30 books last year, 13 were audio and I honestly wish I read more physical books. Not that there is anything wrong with audiobooks, I just prefer physical ones. I just started listening to them while driving and since I worked 35 minutes away this summer I sped through some books.

I'm the type of reader that wants to read but instead I go on my phone. This year I set the goal to read at least 12 books one every month.
