I think an unhaul is always healthy; it makes space for better books and you get rid of the books that you don’t really like, and give them to others who will probably love it.
I’m the opposite. If a book doesn’t grab be early on, I highly doubt I’ll finish reading it, I kid you not, I read hunger games and catching fire. I think I read the first 3 chapters of mocking jay. I quit.
Omg same. I started the illuminae trilogy over the summer....and I couldn't start ANYTHING ELSE until I finished it. That and because I couldn't put it down.
I’ve decided that If I’m somewhat invested in the story, but it wasn’t the best read for me, I’ll give the second book a go and if that doesn’t make me feel more than the first book did, it’s a no-go on the rest of the series. I just read One of Us is Lying so I could watch the tv show and I gave it a two-stars and will not be picking up the sequel because it was forgetting things as I was reading (unless they turn that into a show as well 🙃 then I might pick it up).
@@lianathewolflover4516 same for me with Game of thrones. Took me an entire year to finish the first book and the others that I had asked for Christmas, still no no. Doesn’t help that I’d watched the entire show before I asked for the books!
I used to never get rid of books at all, even if I didn't really like them at all, because I thought it made me a bad book lover. but through videos like yours I realized that it only gives me more space for books I may love
Whenever I reorganise my books I also do a book unhaul. It is just so much easier to see if you want to keep a book when you have it physically in your hands.
if you have little free libraries in your area, they're also a great way to ditch a few books and potentially pick up some "new" second-hand books in exchange
So happy u posted today!!! Been sick this weekend, so not the most fun 😂 but thankful you posted!!! Book recommendations to get out of a reading slump??
Great video! I have unhauled all my TBR books this year, because they had been on my shelves for years and didn't really vibe with my current reading tastes. Also got rid of a lot of read books, because I didn't want to reread them. So don't have a lot of books anymore 😅
I take my books to my local indie as well! They give really good store credit. I’ve gotten rid of probably half my books in the last year and a half, and have a box permanently set up for books to unhaul. The most recent addition is a book I bought when it came out that I hadn’t read yet. When I realized that was 7years ago I got rid of it as I could’ve made time to read it in the last 7years if I really wanted to
If not for the fact ti's currently freezing in MA and holiday seasons is upcoming, I would have done a book unhaul. I may give some books to my friends who may enjoy them more than me
Landline is my favorite book of rainbow rowell, i just love how simple the love is and falling in love with simple things in life and choosing love over it. i really love it because it relates to me in so many ways possible. i love the book so bad. i understand that you dont like it, we have different tastes, some loves the book and some dont.
Sometimes it's hard to give away books but I feel good at the thought of someone else reading it as opposed to it sitting on my shelf serving as not much more than a decoration. I rarely re-read a book more than twice in a decade so in my case it's best to send books back back into the world unless they're absolute favorites.
Unhauling a little life was the right move 😂 I kind of want to read the Cuban tea book but then again I like romance. Nice that you’re donating some middle grade to your cousins classroom!
Lmao, I just watched the video that you made getting rid of books from last year and you ended up only saying ba-bye to 3 books. I’m so proud of you for getting rid of the pretty covers this time lol
i also spoiled myself for a little life cause couldn't bring myself to go thru the trauma and im glad i did cause now i dont feel like ive missed out on anything :)
I had to get rid of some books because they got moldy, since I lived by the beach ⛱️ (way too close to it) haha.. but since I had moved a bit farther from it and brought my favorites with me, I don't mind getting rid of the ones that got moldy. I learned that when you get rid of things you don't like or love that much, you open space for new things and experiences in the present moment, instead of living in the past.
I had bagan reading Wonder on holiday a few years ago, fell in love with it and I still have it to this day; I was lucky to find a copy of Auggie and Me from the same author and plannig to read it I think it depends if you can feel a connection to books that you are reading that makes them enjoyable, but that might just be me If anyone wants to try something like Wonder, I recommend The Perks of Being a Wallflower; it has an outcast trying to fit in plot like in Wonder, but it's a bit more dark with some of the themes and topics in it, so you might want to be careful with it
I'm listening to a little life on TH-cam just trying to grasp it I did watch reviews too I have been really needing new books because I'm home bound so I hope to be able to get it and others on my list for Christmas
Was that a Lorde reference I heard?😍🤩I wish I could unhaul books, I get waaaaay too attached, even to books I didn’t like and can’t seem to get rid of any😂😅🤷♀️
David Levithan’s books just don’t do it for me and I don’t understand when people hype up his books. Yeah they’re different but at the same time they’re not that good?
It's hard getting rid of books, I have unhauled without actually physically getting rid of the books even though I have no want to keep them. Mainly cause it was during Covid. Also cause I wanted to take them to my favorite used bookstore and try to find them a good home if that makes sense. Which could also lead to some money back or at least store credit. I'm trying to be better about buying books, I buy them on my Kindle to try and cut down on physical copies cause I don't have the space. I'm trying to keep only the ones that are important to me, that I love, or the ones that I want for my collection.
I got rid of like twenty books a couple months ago and I still have a pile at my mom’s that I need to get rid of too that I was too lazy to carry in round one. So round two is upon the horizon.
A couple months ago I gave my boyfriend's sister my old copies of The lunar Chronicles because I got new copies of them for the new designs of the covers
I love books soo much!! I literally read 120 books last year!! 😆 I'm behind this year & am at 90... hoping to get to at least 100 books before the end of the year! 🙏 📚📖
Good on you for reselling dude. I usually bring mine to HPB, and then if they can't give me money for them I donate them to my little free library or goodwill :^)
My independent local book store gives store credit (on other used books) for trade-ins. When she first opened I took like 3 boxes…I still have $236.40 in store credit…I’ll probably never spend it all lol
To be fair, I think girls in the white rose resistance deserve to call themselves "not like other girls", they really were special. But obviously that's not a reason to keep a book one doesn't really enjoy.
I feel you on not reading A Little Life, I’m not even gonna try 😅. I watched Kat's (paperbackdreams) video where she read it. Kat can take a lot more horrible sh*t than me and it destroyed her sooooooo yeah, nope 😅😅.
I don't think I ever finished Landline either now that I think about it. Honestly, I have trouble engaging in a book that revolves around marriage problems, probably because I'm very very single and far from marriage so it just makes me bitter 😂. Also I feel like the characters are usually just too much older than me, especially since rn I'm only 20
Honestly I'm a bit of a hoarder, so I don't think I'm really capable of doing a book unhaul 😂. Except for What's Eating Gilbert Grape, which I had to read for my lit and comp class. That one I don't want anything to do with
i have so many books i wouldn't mind giving away, but when they offer you 50 cents for a book that cost over 10 dollars and is in pristine condition (because i take care of my books), and i know they're gonna sell it for 8-9 dollars (because i browsed their second-hand section), i just feel ripped off and decide against it
When I get rid of books (not often😅) I prefer to give them to charity shops to raise money for good causes then sell them to a book seller for the same reason as you, it does feel like they’re trying to rip you off.
Great video jesse!! This made my day 10 times better than it already wwas. Tonight I am getting inducted into National Honors Society and I am petrified. Wish me luck!!!
Where do you get rid of your books? Like give your books away for free? Or sell them… if you do sell them where do you sell them? Because I have a lot of books I want to unhaul but they give me horrible value for them… also love you and your videos 💜 keep up w the great content
You can donate the books to a library sometimes or a used bookstore. I usually do that or place a book I don't want in a public take a book and leave a book shelf. Bye
Really glad to hear some Winterborne Home appreciation. I absolutely loved that book and I’m sure your cousin’s class will love it! 😊 Also I live in a small town with no indie bookstore or any bookstore all together. I have to drive about 30 minutes to get to one. 😭
Recently got rid of The Dressmaker. It was a historical fiction about survivor's of the Titanic. Unfortunately, the main character was boring as all get out, I couldn't stand how bland she was. The romances were weaker than melting ice cream. Not worth keeping on my shelf.
The amount of people who said A Little Life made them bawl and depressed is enough for me to decide I could never emotionally handle it 🤣😭 Maybe I will just spoil myself also because I'm really curious now 🤔
I think an unhaul is always healthy; it makes space for better books and you get rid of the books that you don’t really like, and give them to others who will probably love it.
It is a scientifically proven fact that getting rid of books is virtually impossible for a sentimental reader.
Haha! That's probably me!! 😅😂💯
That’s probably true, if you have a sentimental attachment to the book, even if you despise it. Btw, love you vids, Harry!!
I just hide them on my bottom shelf so i don't have to throw them away but I also don't have to look at them and be mad 😂
What! You’re here?? Man I love your videos
I couldn't even bring my self to unhaul Harry Potter and the cursed child
I could never just DECIDE to STOP reading a series. Once I start I feel obligated to finish. (I feel like I’ve said this before)
I’m the opposite. If a book doesn’t grab be early on, I highly doubt I’ll finish reading it, I kid you not, I read hunger games and catching fire. I think I read the first 3 chapters of mocking jay. I quit.
I rarely finish a series anymore. I lose patience and want to move on to something different even if the first book is decent.
As a middle school teacher myself, thank you for supporting your cousin’s classroom!
if you have little free libraries in your area, they're also a great way to ditch a few books and potentially pick up some "new" second-hand books in exchange
i should give my book shelf some shelf care.. it has some pretty big pimples *cough cough the cursed child*
So happy u posted today!!! Been sick this weekend, so not the most fun 😂 but thankful you posted!!! Book recommendations to get out of a reading slump??
Ahw get well soon!
The glass castle by Jeannette Walls
Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend - Hope you get better soon!!
Love these videos. Sometimes you just gotta remove books from your shelves to make room for new books.
"NOT HERE TO CALL ME A HYPOCRITE TODAY!" Why is this so me? 🤣
Unhauls can be so therapeutic! Also I love your editing style so much 🥰
i love unhauls so much. they really inspire me to do the same. thank you jesse!
Great video!

aah i'm so excited! i love book unhauls 😂😍
Just to say thank you ,when ever you post you put a smile on anyone who watches the video ❤❤
It's like 12:00pm in SA🇿🇦 Was about to go to bed but then I saw the notification and was like *uhhh yeah* tap tap :)
I take my books to my local indie as well! They give really good store credit. "Sorry but you know what Jack did." Damn, I almost spill my boba, Jesse! 🤣
i’m lovinggggggg the bookshelves
Your sweater is adorable!
If not for the fact ti's currently freezing in MA and holiday seasons is upcoming, I would have done a book unhaul. I may give some books to my friends who may enjoy them more than me

Love the whole Shelf-care format :)
It makes my day every time I see Jesse's posted a new video!
This unhaul video is like promoting the books. I like it! 👍
I will always immediately click on an unhaul! Good for you Jesse!
jesse is the best booktuber . love you bro
Unhauling >>>>>
I had to get rid of some books because they got moldy, since I lived by the beach ⛱️ (way too close to it) haha.. but since I had moved a bit farther from it and brought my favorites with me, I don't mind getting rid of the ones that got moldy. I think it depends if you can feel a connection to books that you are reading that makes them enjoyable, but that might just be me
If anyone wants to try something like Wonder, I recommend The Perks of Being a Wallflower; it has an outcast trying to fit in plot like in Wonder, but it's a bit more dark with some of the themes and topics in it, so you might want to be careful with it
Was anyone else reminded of the big snail from Moana, everytime Jesse said "SHINYY!" ?? 😂 How is he so adorable ??
"Jack don't let go. Sorry you know what Jack did." 🤣😂
I didn't know that Every You, Every Me by David Levithan is a thriller/suspense or have those vibes. 👌
I enjoyed Attachments by Rainbow Rowell!
I'm listening to a little life on TH-cam just trying to grasp it I did watch reviews too I have been really needing new books because I'm home bound so I hope to be able to get it and others on my list for Christmas
i cannot take my eyes off of the court of miracles
okay now come do my shelves bestie...this is an sos
Ugh yes, we love a good unhaul
That's nice that you donated your middle school books to your cousin.
Was that a Lorde reference I heard?😍🤩I wish I could unhaul books, I get waaaaay too attached, even to books I didn’t like and can’t seem to get rid of any😂😅🤷♀️
Haha! Same here!! 💯😂
I wish I could do this, but it just hurts my book loving heart to get rid of them
Same here! 💯🥺😬
Early your videos are soo funny Jesse!!! Love them so much!!! I’m a regular commenter and fan now!!! Can we be booktube BFF’s? If that’s not strange
David Levithan’s books just don’t do it for me and I don’t understand when people hype up his books. Yeah they’re different but at the same time they’re not that good?
Become more conscious than a philosopher and a psychologist by reading the book "Sacrosanct Intelligence".
Vaccinate my bookshelves 🤣🤣🤣pro level
Omg I'm reading Pax right now and I love it!!!
It's hard getting rid of books, I have unhauled without actually physically getting rid of the books even though I have no want to keep them. Mainly cause it was during Covid. I just unhauled court of miracles as well and it hurt because it was such a beautiful book but it wasn’t the best unfortunately 🙃

Me with my copy of CE Six of Crows. I play more with the pretty cover that actual reading it.
I love Jesse's salty videos bc he is usually so positive so its nice sometimes for him to go off about mediocre books lol
I got rid of like twenty books a couple months ago and I still have a pile at my mom’s that I need to get rid of too that I was too lazy to carry in round one. So round two is upon the horizon.
I love this so much I love watching your videos cuz they make me happy thanks so much

When he throws out one of your favourite books and you question your life choices...
LES MIS MEETS 6 OF CROWS I NEED THAT BOOK RIGHT NOW
I need to start getting rid of some books I don't need anymore even though it does hurt. Where do you go or do when you get rid of them? 😲
Good on you for reselling dude. I usually bring mine to HPB, and then if they can't give me money for them I donate them to my little free library or goodwill :^)
My recent unhaul was People We Meet on Vacation because I know I'll never re-read it. It wasn't bad but....meh.
I had the same experience with Landline. It sounds interesting but I tired reading it like 5 times and just didn’t care
My independent local book store gives store credit (on other used books) for trade-ins. When she first opened I took like 3 boxes…I still have $236.40 in store credit…I’ll probably never spend it all lol

Hiii! I have a question for you: how do you "get rid" of the books you don't like?
CAN YOU REACH ME NO YOU CANT
I don't think I ever finished Landline either now that I think about it. Add a white bucket hat and you're Gilligan
Have i gotten rid 0f any books recently? Heh. I have a pile of books I need to find a new home for but technically I have not gotten rid of them.
I really need to do a book unhaul but I love my books too much 😂

Hey does anyone know what bookshelves these are?
Oh yeah
Great video!
Great video jesse!! This made my day 10 times better than it already wwas. Tonight I am getting inducted into National Honors Society and I am petrified. Wish me luck!!!
dude what camera are u using, it looks better than my eyesight lol
Same thoughts with Landline! I love Rainbow Rowell but *no offense* I found this book slow paced and boring :
honestly most of the books I've unhauled recently is because I wanted a different cover lol
I volunteer to take care of all the books you’re getting rid of 😂
i recently got rid of the first two game of thrones books. honestly i just found them boring and tedious 💔
Where do you get rid of your books? Like give your books away for free? Or sell them… if you do sell them where do you sell them? Because I have a lot of books I want to unhaul but they give me horrible value for them… also love you and your videos 💜 keep up w the great content

I've recently sold my copy of little life too 😅 I've read this book few years ago but just didn't like it
Jesse. I wonder what is your MBTI personality type?
i get big Fi-Ne vibes (infp)
💙💙💙
What’s wrong with My favorate“a little life”?I hate people who doesn't like this book
Yeah A Little Life might ruin your life
Loooove it
Court of miracles was so good, can’t wait for the second one. It reads more like adult than ya.
Recently got rid of The Dressmaker. It was a historical fiction about survivor's of the Titanic. Unfortunately, the main character was boring as all get out, I couldn't stand how bland she was. The romances were weaker than melting ice cream. Not worth keeping on my shelf.
I would LOVE to have that Rainbow Rowell book, I love the marriage criteria 🤷🏻♀️
Anyone else got the 1D/hs references? 😂 Pls tell me I'm not the only one.

You can also always donate these books to a Little Free Library near you!
The amount of people who said A Little Life made them bawl and depressed is enough for me to decide I could never emotionally handle it 🤣😭 Maybe I will just spoil myself also because I'm really curious now 🤔
