The only usage for me is going to be my airport checked in bags, so I can track the distance between my seat and the bag :D
Would be cool to have an accelerometer in there so you can see how many times your luggage is chucked across the runway.

Sounds like a good idea. Which wallet are you using? I've tried a few AirTag wallets, but most of them were low quality.
Yeaaa lol, actually, I had a few as well, but then I got a recommendation from a friend. I've had the VN100 design from Vionentus for almost a year now it's made of full-grain leather, so it should stay with me for years. I hope this helps you

Airtag is one of the best inventions out there for someone with a fish memory as mine. I got myself high quality smart wallet and put the Airtag inside, no more "Where is my wallet???" Haha.

The replaceable battery alone has won me over. I’ve been using Tile’s tiles and I’ve become reluctant each year at replacing them even though they offer a discounted price for replacement.
Tile also has replaceable batteries wtf are you even talking about. You must have an older version of the tile.

I think this is a great idea but not only for backpacks or dogs or wallets this can be very good for vehicles to track them, when someone robs it you can find where is it, and when you park your vehicle and you don’t find it this is very helpful

Hopefully they come to their senses on AirTag 2 with a proprietary battery that can't be replaced and a dedicated wireless charging station for only $395.
By the shape of the airtag, I was also hoping it could charge with an apple watch charger, but at least you can replace the battery.

I recently got my first iDevice in at least 10 years. iPad Mini 6 5G, for my Sound Quality truck. But, this got me to realize I can now use Airtags. So I will be putting an Airtag in the frame of both trucks, my gooseneck, and inside of a few expensive cases I bring with me to shows / events.
10/10 way to track things.
The only problem I see with the security feature is when someone steals whatever your AirTag is attached to. They'll get notified because the tag thinks it's following them, find the tag and get rid of it.

@@shootdaj no they can't, no one wants locked devices, you can't get into them, what you are thinking about is when the rare metals are sold from them, locked devices are not profitable at all
@@juliet4093 no I'm not, I'm thinking about locked devices, please do your research before commenting. You can reset said device pretty easily. There's plenty of other ways for a device to be valuable than to unlock it.
I saw someone suggest this for dog collars as well! If you dog is ever lost you can use the gps or the “lost message” thing to help try and get them back!

if your dog is lost it still depend on the person who finds your dog if he will be honest to get back to you
AirTags don't have gps though, they just ping other devices nearby. If you live in a city with lots of iPhones nearby or if someone finds your dog it'll still work but if you live in a rural area, you'll have to rely on the sound the AirTag makes

Why do you need so many airbags?
The strap for eyeglasses is actually a great idea. I lost a couple pairs of Oakley sunglasses on hikes in the mountains in the past. This would have been a godsend.

IF you are a criminal, you will likely turn your phone off before committing crimes. Else the police might suspect you based on the proximity of your phone to the crime scene.
I imagine the police would use this option very often, since it can be done from behind a desk.
Yes, I wish it could also not notify... Getting a change to find my stollen RV. But I suspect thiefs would equip themselves with devices to find the tags (bluetooth scanner type...)...

That’s exactly what would happen here in Italy, never, ever found a bag or anything else I have left behind.
That would happen anyway - this relies on the person being co operative and helping. If you didn’t have an air tag, and the person was a thief, it would be the same outcome

There could be a rechargeable battery if Apple somehow managed to invent one so small and durable that it would fit in the AirTag. Remember that the AirTag would be much bigger if there were charging port.

In a world we live in? I'm pretty sure if they find your lost item, and depending on what it is, they can just easily throw the airbag or remove its battery and this just became useless. The only usefulness I see for this is putting it on my car keys, but then I could save 30 box if I just always put my car keys on a key holder next to my door anyways. So... what's the point?

So me and my girlfriend have owned this for near six months and as a couple who forgets EVERYTHING this has been a godsend. In fact I bought a new iPhone for the tracking features keep in mind older iPhones can now use the noise feature and the find my but it won’t give you the arrow tracking.
I’ll be honest the arrow tracking isn’t that good but it is somewhat helpful. Our only worry with the real stalking features we are afraid some of the features will disappear soon. But it’s so nice if I forget my keys and I leave the house it will tell me. I got this on my keys, badge and wallet

I think a nice feature would be to mark a tag as "on my person" and then if it gets separated far enough from you the phone would chime. If you got like pickpocketed or your bag got snatched when you weren't looking.

Jumping on to say important something he missed: Android won’t give you that “an airtag is following you” message, but after being separated from the owner for some time it will start making noise once it’s moved. Currently that time period is 3 days, but it’s server side, so Apple can change that globally any time they want.

I have the iPhone SE and so I don’t have the fancy arrow tracking. So all I can get my AirTag to do is play a nearly inaudible sound when searching for it. One thing I like about Tile, it’s louder. But the AirTag is fine and there are other things I like about it better then tile. Sometimes I struggle to connect with my title via Bluetooth and the air tag more intuitively responds to being in the presence of my iPhone.
This is like the scene from Batman where they get all the mobile phones to find the Joker and Morgan Freeman was like “this is too much power for one person”, except it’s not the Joker you’re looking for it’s the keys that you forgot you left in your jeans pocket.
There's also a scene in Fugo Keiji: Balance Unlimited where they do something similar, except they push an ad to all the people in a specific area to twirl with their phones out for a cash prize in order to make a 3D map of the block to find a person by stitching the image data from all the phone's cameras together.

I think the best possible use for these tags would be using it for pets like dogs or cats. You'll never lose your pet :)
Yeah we have a tile on our dog’s collar so if he ever gets lost we can try playing the noise/track him but this may be a better option

Was hoping this device might be useful for real-time pet tracking, but the precision find range is sadly too little. I did a quick test and the tag was out of range before I got to the end of my own driveway < 50 feet). If the range was (say) 150 feet it would be MUCH more useful from this perspective. At least I could walk around the neighborhood with a pretty good chance of getting close enough for a precision find. As it stands, and if I understand correctly, as soon as my pet goes beyond the Bluetooth range of this device (50 feet or less by my own test) I would need to put the tag into 'Lost' mode, and then it would be a crap-shoot .. dependent on another person happening across my tag and following through by contacting me?
The way it works is it uses any apple device to pin its location, so it doesn't have to be withing range with YOUR phone, as long as it's close to any random apple device it can update its location

I just got one with the twist lock holder from Belkin. Purchased for our large puppy that likes to hop the fence in a single bound lol, seems pretty cool so far! 😊
Fun fact - airtags location feature does not function without pinging to an iphone with location services turned on. Me, and I believe many others are keeping location services off to extend battery life. I turn them on when I need them but they are not turned on all the time and so the lost mode for the airtag only works when iPhones with location services pass by.
