- A well-known evangelical pastor in North Texas says he is stepping away from the ministry. Dr. Tony Evans says he's stepping down "due to sin." Evans is one of the founding pastors of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas and a former chaplain for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Mavericks.
Many pastors are too prideful to admit they fell and keep on leading God‘s people while in sin themselves. Good for him for checking his heart first.
The HEART is ONE thing, but it's the MIND than directs the heart. I pray he follow his mind, the tool of our common sense.

I love his teachings and preaching style. I 💯respect that he takes responsibility it makes him even more reliable and forgivable. Full respect and blessings to him and his family. A lot of preachers should but could never do that!
Stepping away from ministry is no justice. It is just a position. No matter how much people beg or demand resignation no one can be prevented from having a relationship or serving God

I'm so tired of people quoting scripture as the go to. Everybody is not living in sin, practicing sin. We are to live sinless lives, and then he's leading and teaching folks?. I don't even hear pastors teaching against sin. Gino Jennings and a hand full of others do.
But pastors these days do not teach nor preach against sin.

Anyone who confesses their sin should be forgiven. Not sure what was confessed here? A sin from the past could be anything (a baby from an affair, sleeping with an underage child, etc). Now before you say, "It ain't none of your business what he did" OR "this is our pastor and he is a good man" Or "call me a heathen", I am fully saved. Why say anything to the congregation if this is some frivolous sin? Too much is missing in this professionally written statement before we can apply true restoration. Respectfully submitted..
Glory and honor to God, To Dr.Evans ,The Evans Family and The Oak Cliff Church Family. Galatians 6:1 gives every conscientious believer their answer. Dr. Evans has been and yet remains a model for Ministry. I honor, appreciate, and love him for his commitment and dedication to the Ministry and the building up of the Body of Christ. I will continue to pray for Him and his Family and his Church Family also the Body of Christ as a whole. I have supported the Ministry and Lord willing I shall continue. Dr. Evans wrote a book years ago entitled: Your Comeback!!! What a Tremendous Blessing highly recommended. Be Blessed God has it under control.
Alleluia, thank the Great Holy LORD for this brother's humility! So many would have just kept up appearances as usual but it is a serious thing to be a shepherd living in sin. It is a huge responsibility, so thank GOD he made that choice to stop Leading the People of GOD and seeking the face of the Living GOD

I respect his decision, if he feels he is living in sin and doesn’t feel his calling is to lead church then that will be between him and god. I love pastor Evans and he has taught me a lot. I hope he gets the help he needs, I know god still has a plan for him 🙏😢

I was a members in the early 2000's and he was beside himself. I was see him at the gym and he wouldn't even speak or acknowledge his own member. If he walked into a conversation and would not say excuse me before interrupting. The more you work with God and do what's right. That walk becomes easier. What ever you feed will dominate.
He is a role model, appreciate his noble gesture

His heart. and the Holy Ghost Although he may Have been praying over this incident.Whatever went on in his life, but he still didn't feel comfortable of leading the flock. So we're not gonna throw any stones because we all have seen. It comes short of the glory of God. Only reason he's Bowed. down is because he was supposed to be one of the shepherds. That was leading the sheep so Doctor Tony Evans. We will be praying for you. Also, may God forgive you for whatever sin you did and he will as long as it was not for blasphemy. We still love you in Christ.

If the sin he participated in turns out to be that he is gay, will you still love him and forgive him? Just asking?

So are we to believe that pastors don’t EVER sin? Because that’s just not true. We all sin every single day of our life. That doesn’t mean we don’t love the Lord or are not trying our best to live the way God asks of us. We sin even when we don’t know we sin! Pastors are no more perfect than their congregation. It’s by God’s grace and mercy we are forgiven. But once we repent, the slate is wiped clean….until we sin again anyway. Obviously, he is doing what he feels is necessary. But to believe he is perfect is wrong. Only the Lord God Himself is without sin.

God forgives all past sin , so what is it you’ve been preaching pastor Tony Evans that makes no sense to me you stepping down because of past sin 🤫 If you are not still living and practicing you sins past is sin is forgiven. Did not Jesus died on the cross for your sins. I’m not buying that you’re stepping down because of past sins because that sending the congregation a mixed message. I’m glad I’m grounded and rooted in the world to know my past sins are forgiven like the woman at the well go and sin no more.. I watch your TH-cam sermons every weekend for years 48 years you been in the ministry? How on earth are you gonna tell us you stepping down because of past sin did you not preach that God is a merciful God . Well, God bless you and your family but I’m really stuck on this person stuff. I want the world to know you ask God for forgiveness your passing is forgiven..
Sooo are you gonna pray for him or just keep passing judgement… Because yes God forgives us for all sin however he does tell us to repent for our sins and to flee from it thus meaning to admit the wrong that we have done and to changes our ways going forward. Now it’s up to you if you continue to support his ministry but there’s no need to act as though he should’ve just kept this to himself because we don’t know the conversations he’s had with God nor the conviction that he’s felt from keeping this in so long. I will pray for you my sister in Christ and I will pray for Pastor Evan’s healing as well, stay blessed and remember God loves you !

Here is a concerning problem w/ tony. Why did he wait till retirement to bring this out? Did he do it so he would have millions to retire on? I am.more bothered, and it's disconcerting.
1 Timothy 3:1-7 Evans needs to be fired & made accountable to God's Word, the Law, & his victims . . If you Love Tony Evans pray that he will truly repent, & restore his relationship with Christ, and that he will obey God's Word, and will never return to leadership or preaching

Praying for his relationship with the Lord to be substantially increased as a result of this time of spiritual reflection. We all fall short. It is the duty of his brothers and sisters in Christ to keep him lifted up in prayer, constantly send messages of Love and Encouragement to him, his family, and his congregation. This is an opportunity for the church to show True Love for one of their own. The World Is Watching.

Yes we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but we don't have to keep falling. After we sin, we confess, repent, and ask for forgiveness and we turn away and go in a different direction in Christ. We can't take our eyes off of Jesus and we have to allow ourselves to be fully opened to the Holy Spirit. Walk in the spirit, so we won't fulfill the lust of the flesh. I have learned a lot from his teachings. I pray for Dr. Evans restoration and deliverance!🙏❤️🙏❤️❤️🙏❤️

I’m just confused that if this is a past sin, then why is he just now stepping down? Also, if he repented and was restored afterwards, then there’s no reason to step down because it’s already been dealt with years ago. Something just don’t sit right about this but I pray the best for him and his family. ❤️

One of my favorite ministers. I admire the responsibility he is taking for whatever sin that encouraged his decision. I wish more ministers would do this instead of pretending everything is perfect and misleading God's people. ❤ praying for his strength while his strength is being renewed. 🙏
