You do not understand the Bible. You are new creature in Christ. Read Andrew Wommack’s booklet, The Old Man is Dead. This is why Christians continue to have a sin conscious even after becoming a believer! God bless!
@apostlewilliam3012 we are justified the moment we first believe but our sanctification is ongoing because we still battle the flesh - as Paul pointed out in several passages. By saying you no longer sin you're sinning because lying is a sin.

Allie, I really appreciate how you spoke about the sins of both of these pastors. You were very gracious concerning them. We must pray for them and those touched by their iniquity.
Your compassion is like a cool breeze on a hot day. I like Tony Evans & in your voice was tenderness and an anticipation to welcome him back into the fold.
Many pastors are extremely hard on the congregation who commit sin.And when the Pastor drops the ball, they have excuses. I don't think Dr Evans will make any excuses. Dr Charles Stanley got caught up in a sin, and got himself together. But this is a new world, with the internet. I hope Dr Evans gets himself together. Still respect him.
He already spoke to his family and step down, now the rest is between him and God. People just want to know the details to be able to gossip. And David said unto Gad, “I am in a great strait. Let us fall now into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great; and let me not fall into the hand of man.”
David sinned and caused his nation to suffer and many died as a result. And yes that was after he repented and prayed the prayer you quoted. Sin has terrible consequences.

He's a public figure and has brought reproach upon the whole church so needs to publicly have told everyone. Plus, I pray he'll re-think some of the doctrine he preaches. Allie, look into it for yourself.
@@connihudson1578the public does not have a direct relationship with him, and he’s not their assigned pastor. He doesn’t owe the public an explanation beyond what was given.
He DOES owe the world an explanation. When you become a public pastor, that's the downside of it. You do indeed owe the public some things you would only owe your own church otherwise.
Church leadership should decide. Giving "specificity" to a church that large is giving it to the whole world. the only way a sin is truly "Secret" is if it involves no one else. Guess what? pastors are tempted as we all are. Those in the church leadership and sphere or accountability of course need to know to provide restoration . However if this is a past sin and secret as just defined then we all don't need to know. Half the time we want to know is just so we can satisify our gossipy speculation and even some judgementalism.
If it was something that happened long ago somebody was threatening to blackmail him. We are all put in uncomfortable positions. The man is human and I’m sure he is not the same person now as then. God bless Dr. Evans and his family.
I commend Dr. Tony Evans for that acknowledgment and honesty, he doesn't owe anyone clarity right now in my opinion, because it's between him, his church, and God. Everyone falls short of the glory of God. _"Anyone who claims to be without sin is deceiving themselves and the truth is not in them."_ - *1 John 1:8 - 10* You know as well as I do that people are going to spread the word and their own personal judgments and opinions about it and that's not necessary right now, even the people within his church. Tony Evans did the right thing by addressing the issue publicly and telling them that he's going to step down, nobody in the public needs to know except him, his church, and God. It takes real ownership and earnestness to admit your faults and be responsible for them, that shows good character.
At least he admits that what he did was wrong. The Bible does make it clear that a pastor should step down if they were living in sin, but the Bible never says that the whole congregation needs to know exactly what the pastor did from what I understand. Tony Evans did the right thing by stepping down, and like you basically said, it’s not the world’s business to know.
Dr. Evans has been the leading Black voice in Christian media for decades, a powerful proclaimer of the Gospel to all. And now, not sure how much detail should be released, but 'secret sin' is really vague and secretive, sort of like saying it is what it is. And I'll be praying for him to be fully and appropriately restored. And thanks, Allie, for reporting on this with sensitivity and Scripture.
His skin colour should not even be mentioned, why do people constantly bring that into every conversation? Who cares how much melanin is in his skin????
@@PoirotFanGirl Easy on me, please. I was in Christian radio for decades, I know and respect his role as one of the greats with his teaching and preaching program titled the Urban Alternative or Alternative. And in the '80s, I was the white guy on an otherwise all-Black air staff at a Gospel station in DC and I called myself Servant Robb and it was one of my career highlights.
I disagree. The pastor is the head of the church, and the Bible says he is to lead by example and will be held to a greater level of accountability. The congregation has the right to know why their pastor is stepping down. They don't need all the details, but they should still be told the truth.
James 5:16 (NKJV) says "Confess your trespassers to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective fervent payer of a righteous man avails much." 💒
I'm not sure why people would be distressed by this. This man is following the Bible better than most of the pastors we all know. I would think this would offer hope that we can all follow God so well. I agree with you that he owes his specific congregation more detail to his specific situations.
I live in an area that is hard to reach with the gospel. Things like this have been trending amongst well-known megachurch pastors. This makes it more difficult to reach the lost when pastors like this are the public figures of your faith. It is hard to tell someone Jesus can transform your life when our leaders aren't transformed (in the eyes of the lost).
@@sophiawalker8116 yes, you are correct. However, we are also advised to confess to one another and be healed. He doesn't owe it to his congregation. He must do it to regain his authority.
@nfcapps He confesses to God and to the elders. The Bible doesn't say to our sin to the congregations . God forgives for sins. He sinned against God, not his congregations. When the scripture speaks of confessing our sins to one another, that means . If you have an ought against someone, make it right.

We definitely should be lifting Pastor Evans in prayer.🙏 I think his coming forward and confessing his faults/sin to the leadership at his church is entirely Biblical. Not certain it's necessary to provide specific details to the entire congregation. He's using wisdom.
The situation you spoke on about Tony Evans was so well said, I commend you for being bold in your faith but respectful towards the fact we all fail and come short and need Christ forgiveness and guidance daily.I love watching your show, it always helps me and I’m sure many others. Keep it up!

I thought immediately of the situation with Matt Chandler as well - I so appreciated that he and his church leadership just laid everything out in detail and took steps for healing and restoration. I think it was about 5 months he ended up going through some spiritual healing, counseling, and self evaluation until his elders felt he was ready to resume as pastor. It was a great example of how church leadership ought to function, and possibly saved Matt from a greater sin that could have had much worse consequences. I'm praying for a similar result in this situation!
Dr. Evans hasn’t stepped down; he’s stepped away…for a season. I praise God for his alignment with biblical accountability and pray for him and his ministry, which has been faithful and integral for decades; and will continue to be so. They will continue to grow and stand on the truth of God’s Word. The ministry's work will endure beyond quick, sensationalist headlines and talking points. The spiritual and biblical response here is not to "weigh in" or give our opinions. It's to pray. But we are driven to microphones, ring lights, and video cameras today instead of prayer rooms.
No ma'am! He does not "owe" details to anyone! It would only cause gossip and more division....do better, Allie. Love the Evans family! Praying for their healing. ❤
I recently came to know of you thru your Kat Von D interview. I would just like to say thank you for what you said about Dr Tony Evans. You are correct. We all must pray for him. There are other "leaders" ( I use that term loosely) reporting on this with a smile on their face, and I fail to understand how they do so??
I don’t think he owes an explanation to anyone outside of those he’s already confessed to. However, this is an opportunity to share a testimony that may help anyone struggling with the same temptations and sin. A warning to others if you will. In the end, yes, we all sin and fall short and far be it from me to cast a stone at Tony. I will just say, as someone who has fallen short, my testimony has been a blessing to others and I learned so much humility through the situation that I don’t mind sharing it with those I think it will help.
The messages I watched and viewed over the years have ALWAYS ministered to me, and therefore others throughout the world. The messages he brought helped me immensely during a very troubling time in my life. We all sin, let us not point fingers, but embrace Dr. Evans, pray for him and his family, and commend him that he followed the Biblical principles he has intentionally spoken over the years regarding, sin, repentence, and restoration!

I agree with a lot of what was said about Tony Evans. I do think that if the elders were made aware of this sin, that we should trust that they are using godly wisdom on the appropriate course to take.
Tony Evans is one of my favorites ever. It makes me sad that he’s stepping down. The most important people in the Bible committed the worst sins. Why should he tell his congregation the details? He told his family, the elders and God. Everything else is just temptation for others in the form of gossip and judgement.
The scripture does not say confess your sins to the entire church if you sin, it’s one to another. Also, keep in mind, this verse in context is regarding people’s physical bodies being sick and the reason was, there was unconfessed sin in their lives, so confession was the answer. Can you imagine if we held everyone to the standard of public confession every time someone sinned? Much less when the pastors sinned? The only time we are supposed to deal with things on this level according to Matthew 18 is when someone is non-repentant for their sin. For example, if Tony would have not confessed his sin in accordance with Matthew 18, and not listened to a person who first went to him, then a couple people who then came, dealing with it on a PUBLIC application WOULD be appropriate. Because he has confessed and is seeking healing, there is no need to share it with everyone. The real problem is that everyone feels entitled to know what exactly he did when it’s between him and the Lord ultimately. From a leadership perspective, the elders are now appropriately involved to help him move forward and be spiritually restored.
I agree that they don't need all the details. However, the congregants should still be told the truth about why their pastor, who is the head of the church and is to lead by example, is stepping down.
@@mercifulwarrior24 That sounds good in theory and it may be your personal preference, completely understood, but there is no scripture that specifically says he must do that. It’s just that, your opinion. Think about if it was you. If you had confessed to your family and the elders and were getting help and restoration, is it really necessary to bring the congregation into your situation and tell them all of the details of your sin? Wisdom says no. Maybe a better question is, why do people feel the need to have to know something that is none of their business? Mature believers don’t need to know, they simply pray for their pastor and for his restoration. Mature believers don’t care to know the details of someone’s sin, they just care about the person and want to see them get healthy. Leave the details to The Lord, those whom he sinned against and the people helping him get restoration.

@@mattw4496No, "his congregation" but while it would be wonderful to think all his congregation live by Christian values, they are still all wrestling with a sin nature, and it would be naIve to think that it would not be gossiped about, & spread beyond his congregation. The elders should have/seek enough Godly wisdom to decide the best way to proceed & the congregation accept that. 💒
One of the great thing about all of these videos on what happened, is that the majority of us agree that we just need to pray for him and we see his leadership and how he came forward and the church is doing exactly what they need to be doing. Men want grace and mercy but dont give it. Im not on it. I forgive as God does and instructs me to do. Dr. Evans be restored! Let him with no sin cast the first stone.
Allie, I really appreciate how you spoke about the sins of both of these pastors. You were very gracious concerning them. We must pray for them and those touched by their iniquity.
Praying for Pastor Evans and his family. We must do what 1Timothy2:1-4! Pray for all men!!! We all have feet of clay! Hope we all want to finish well!
Our "feet of clay" ain't standing at a pulpit raking in tithes with a tax exempt status.
Your compassion is like a cool breeze on a hot day. I like Tony Evans & in your voice was tenderness and an anticipation to welcome him back into the fold.
🙏
Ok
Thank you Lord Jesus for surrounding Pastor Evans in your loving arms. Healing those impacted, and turning this for your good.
This man is human.....and NO ONE IS EXEMPT FROM A MESS UP....WE ARE NOT PERFECT, STILL LOVE YOU TONY.
I did not have sex with that woman. Lol
He already spoke to his family and step down, now the rest is between him and God. People just want to know the details to be able to gossip. And David said unto Gad, “I am in a great strait. Let us fall now into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great; and let me not fall into the hand of man.”

Good word
David sinned and caused his nation to suffer and many died as a result. And yes that was after he repented and prayed the prayer you quoted. Sin has terrible consequences.
Maybe people are going to want their money back perhaps.
Want to know the details so they can gossip . Thanks to God for King David psalm . You are saying the same thing I am thinking 🧐 .
Praying for Pastor Tony Evans 🙏
Praying for you Tony!! You’ve done so much good work for God!!!😢

What an Powerful man of God! His sermons has blessed Thousands! Let He who is without SIN Cast THE FIRST STONE!!
Our prayers for Dr Tony Evans and his family ! The Grace of God is sufficient for each of us! Our prayers of spiritual healing and recovery for him! We pray that the Holy Spirit will help him, lead him , guide him during this season! Whatever the sin is that he is convicted of by the Holy Spirit is essential to do the right thing according to the Word of God, and the Spirit of God! Look like he has prayed about it, and talk to his family and the right people accordingly to covering and accountability accordingly to the Word of God and the OCBC bylaws! We are called as Christians to pray for each other! Avoid gossip, not to be judgmental but loving, being respectful, kind, loving, and forgiving! We don’t give place to devil! May God be glorified in this situation with Dr Tony Evan.
I agree Allie. He doesn’t owe the world an explanation but he does owe the congregation he leads an explanation. Wish him all the healing needed.
But the problem is in a mega church ot will eventually get to the world.
He's a public figure and has brought reproach upon the whole church so needs to publicly have told everyone. Plus, I pray he'll re-think some of the doctrine he preaches. Allie, look into it for yourself.

And you still can listen!

@@sophiawalker8116 Exactly!
Agree 💯%!

Dr. Charles Stanley did the same thing and came back on fire for God!

Don't agree with telling the congregation, confessing to the elders and family was the right thing to do.
I had a pastor in NY at Jews for Jesus’ church and he said private sins, privately confess public sins, publicly confess.
I disagree. The pastor is the head of the church, and the Bible says he is to lead by example and will be held to a greater level of accountability. The congregation has the right to know why their pastor is stepping down. They don't need all the details, but they should still be told the truth.
@@mercifulwarrior24 He confess to God not men. He sinned against God so it not men business. People want know to gossip.
I'm not sure what that means.
That's the Holly Spirit work. You just preach don't underestimate the power of the gospel. Keep pressing and preaching.
He didn't sin against the church. He sinned against God. He owe Men nothing

Keep it up!

Context is KEY...biblical, historical context...God help us!

He’s a phenomenal Pastor and has my full respect. I will continue to listen, and read his books and studies.

Why should he tell
his congregation the details? He told his family, the elders and God. Everything else is just temptation for others in the form of gossip and judgement.
I completely agree!

He is not hiding and he's actually still going to church and the church is welcoming him into the congregation. Just not at the pulpit right now.
