The M1A1 AIM came into service with the ADF (Australian Defence Force) in 2006 when the Leopard 1a4’s were being replaced

I remember hearing that in Australian service they where Leopard AS1’s, so if there are any actual differences they might make an interesting addition to Warthunder
@FortyFourTomatoes When modelling the Leopard 1A4 in 1/16th scale, the only option re' aftermarket material (that isn't for the standard Bundeswehr version) is for the Australian version 😉

@@theoneandonlyartyom Well the twin 25pdr setup was a purely testing model in '43 to see if the AC I could handle the recoil, in preparation for upgunning it to the 17pdr. It worked!
There was standalone single 25pdr design called the AC III Thunderbolt made in '43 that I'm dissapointed isn't in the game. Far as I'm aware there is no 25pdr gun featured in game which gives me the shits.
As well, the video puts the AC IV too early in the timeline, it was designed and prototyped in '43 not '42.
(As well I wish the AC I variant armed with the 6pdr was in the game too. Make for a proper sub-tree)

The tanks of Australia could genuinely make for such a wonderful Great Britain subtree!
In Rank I, I'd love to see the Light Tank Mk.VIA or VIC as like 1.0 with their .50 cal MGs (.50 Vickers MG for VIA and .50 Besa for VIC) as well as the Italian M11s we captured and used in North Africa.
Rank II would have the greatest wealth of options, like the existing AC I 2pdr would sit as a better armoured sidegrade to other 2pdr armed cruisers. It would ideally feature the later 6pdr armed AC at a similar spot to the Crusader 6pdr too if that's fine!
The Yeramba Self Propelled 25pdr should be a tank destroyer at about 3.0-3.3 because its a casemate Grant hull with a 25pdr shoved in it, like the Canadian Sexton but stupid.
Then it would have the M3 Grant tanks (THAT FOR SOME FUCKING REASON ARE IN THE AMERICAN PREMIUM SELECTION GRRRR) and then the Matilda Frog flamethrower tank as well. I think including the AC III Thunderbolt 25pdr armed cruiser at the tail end of this Rank wouldn't hurt, maybe 3.7, especially with the 25pdr's pretty respectable AP and HE rounds.
Rank III would have the AC IV hopefully, in its 17pdr glory! Maybe featuring the testing model AC I with the dual 25pdrs for the funny would be cool too.
Beyond this rank, my knowledge on both the WT trees and Aussie tanks kind of breaks down, but I know for a fact that what should be included are;
Centurion variants
M113 FSV (has Alvis Saladin turret)
M113 MSV (Scorpion turret lol)
Leopard AS1
The Bushmaster because yes
the ASLAV
and the AS21
and the soon to be delivered AS21 Redback (the Korean K21)
Oh and bonus points if somewhere along the Aus Sub-tree is the New Zealand Bob Semple and Schofield Tanks

Really hoping for the AC IV prototype with a pair of 25-pdr howitzers. It was used to test the recoil in preparation for the 17-pdr, but would be an absurdly powerful tank in its own right.
Fun fact there is around 10 more Australian cruiser modifications gaijin can add but we all know gaijin only knows ctrl C ctrl v
We just not gonna talk about the Leopard 1??? They were in service with the Royal Australian Armoured Corps through the 80’s and 90’s.
The specific AS1 variant is no where in the game , the closet we have is the Leopard 2K
@konigs_ not true at all, the AS1 was a lightly modified Leopard 1a4. Only difference from the Leo 1a3 and 1a4 were FCS and commander night sights.
Now only the Leo 1, 1a1a1 and 1a5 exist (with submodels c2, turm 3), but the Leopard 2K has basically nothing in common with the AS1, but the closest relative to the 1a4 in game would be the 1a1a1 as the 1a5 was basically a redesign of the entire turret and fcs.

@konigs_ The AS1 used the welded turret that was introduced in the Leopard 1a3, so you are objectively wrong.
The Leopard 2k used a heavily modified 1a4 turret as the leopard 2k was developed during the 70s, and 1a5 was developed in the 80s. The only resemblance is the general boxy shape of the turret.
