    It's surprisingly easy to build a balanced cocktail if you understand the ethanol, acid, and sugar content of the drink. To make it even easier for you, I've built a Cocktail Calculator you can use to create your own balanced cocktail recipes.

    • @Petaurista13
      @Petaurista13 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Actually LSD isn't really acid in chemistry terms.

    • @Ekinlabberer
      @Ekinlabberer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scooopiii nah doesn't make sense. would be pretty hard to dose. and if you just put it in there for yourself and plan to drink the whole thing some of the acid could end up sticking on the side of your glass or the bottom. also it would take longer to kick in since you swallow it. also you wouldn't taste it. basically there's no sense in putting lsd in a drink (except you want to stealthily drug someone else with acid which wouldn't be a very nice thing to do)

    • @Petaurista13
      @Petaurista13 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Nope. It's ACIDIC. But it's no ACID actually it's,, like you already said, amide.
      It's not ph to make sth acid or hydrooxide. For organic acid its -COOH group, And LSD lacks it as -OH in -COOH is changed to N(CH2-CH3)2 (and of course LSD can't be non-organic acid). Closest acid it "just" lysergic acid. which formula is C16H16N2O2 nod C2025N3O,
      Of course due to Bronsted, Arrhenius or Lewis every acidic coumpound is acid, but not in common language.

    I took a thin slice of cucumber, mangled it slightly, poured about two shot glasses of vodka and Martini Extra Dry Vermouth onto it, then I added two dashes of lemon juice and stired it over some ice, Idk how long exactly and finally poured it into a chilled glass.
    Turned out to be a very nice drink, imho.

    I noticed you have the reverse dry shake as your egg white method. I keep going back and forth but have landed back at the regular dry shake instead of the reverse. as long as you have the right type of ice density and size it provides a better ring of thick foam in my experience.

    Very cool concept, thank you for making it accessible to everyone! I especially like the pairings/notes section, that will definitely help inspire some new and interesting drinks!
    Do you happen to know of any easy way to figure out the acid content of wine in percentage? So far I've only found results in pH, with no obvious way to convert to percent. It'll vary quite a bit by the type of wine, of course, but even an estimate would be a great start!

    Love the calculator - I can see myself spending a lot of time with it! Is there an end goal to put all your "recommended pairings" ingredients into the liquor list? For example, you say cognac goes well with bourbon and rye, but I don't know what impact cognac would have on my cocktail.

    I've been binge watching your videos lately and as someone who is physically unable to drink any alcohol (doctors told me either my liver will stop functioning completely or my body shuts down or something? One of those I'm not quite ready to chug a brandy to find that out) your videos make me want to make these drinks for my friends. I'd probably get stuck doing it anyways because some of them get drunk REALLY quickly. Plus, I'd be the only sober one left and SOMEONE has to make all these cool drinks.

    Well this is a treat! I'm collecting a copy of this post haste.
    As a jump on the poll, I can handle Take 5, but would perhaps suggest a theme per 'season' and/or series or some such, because it would be a nice touch of variety, but I'd rather you spend time making magical spread-sheets and more magical drinks, over finding music to use.
    I do wonder if there might not be a way to at least add some guestimates if not actual figures for the sweetness of some of the ethanol-bearing ingredients? It seems like that's such a huge factor, and while of course we can account for it in art, it might be nice to have this tool warn us when our booze selection alone approaches candyland.
    Thanks for these fun and informative videos!
