Bore da Sean,
Are you on a promise? It’s a long time since I’ve seen you so chirpy😂😂Don’t you just love springtime. It’s wonderful to see you so happy❤ Annie🏴
Good morning Dear Sean, I put a thick paste of baking soda and vinegar on then leave it for 20mins then rub it off, it's magic,❤
What I was going to say 😉
Me too 👍
Me too😅
Yes, that's the way to do it 👍
Great suggestion
Clean your mushrooms with a cloth not water as the mushrooms absorb it .enjoy
Sean please make sure you film it when you start laying your own eggs ! 🤣😀
Pay per view.
@@seanjamescameron lol. For my next trick! 😀🐔🐔🐔
Love it
Put the banana peels in a bucket with water and use it to fertilize the rose in your garden!
i remember as a small boy sitting in my parents' garden and eating peas straight from the pod, and radishes straight from the ground. as you woul say: 'beautiful"!!
Easier to use Lakeland oven cleaner or try the pink stuff paste or a good old fashioned brillow pad
hi sean from australia the gratefruit , cut it in half the night befor you eat for breakfast , put sugar on it and the enjoy next morning. Just be aware gratefruit can be a contraindicated fruit (dont eat) if you are on blood pressure meds
Grapefruit is contra indicated with a lot of medication!
Well sean if you don't know how to clean your oven now you bloody well will after reading this lot.!
It's much easier to clean a hob by spaying it with oven cleaner such as Mr. Muscle, cover it with cling film, and leave overnight. All the gunge will wipe off, no need to brush or scrub. I learned this from Aurikatarina's TH-cam channel.
How about just cleaning it off every day when the grease and whatnot is fresh?
If you wash stovetop with hot soapy water after each use you won’t get the build up. I do mine with dish soap when doing the washing up. 👵🏻
Jiff or cream cleaner or a Brillo pad
I'd love Sean to include on his channel book readings and the like. Such a glorious voice. I could listen to him for hours. That Welsh accent is tough to beat.
Yes me too
Ghost stories!
Hi Sean, just a quick one whilst I remember - yogurt - try and get Greek if you like it rather than “Greek style” it has over double the protein, fills you up and aids your weight loss!
I raised checkens....the color of the egg, depends on breed of chicken..white chickens white egg , red hen's brown eggs, but it can vary with different breeds.and include a variety of colors including a greenish blue and olive color eggs.....best eggs, from hen's that have the oppertunity to roam outside for bugs, and clean grass, earths minerals in soil, and sunshine, and fresh water,as well as a healthy feed, and protected, clean shelter. A good egg has a thicker shell, from enough minerals..., and the best have a very orange yoke , that stands up, almost round in frying pan, when you crack the egg, and does not break as easily...Thank heaven for chickens they are the best providers....I can see why they were so valued by settlers.
Hi Sean, thanks so much for your video. You bring calmness into a stressful world. Do love a shopping haul and a bit of Waitrose.
You do make me laugh, have a good day 😊
The colour of egg shells comes from the breed of hen. Different breeds hens lay different coloured eggs, and you will discover when you get your own that eggshell colour is a sign that the hen is true to the breed. The nutritional value depends on how the birds have been raised, i.e. caged or free range etc.
Sean, you need more Baking soda with a drop of vinegar to make a thickish paste, then apply and leave for about 20 minutes, before scrubbing 👍
Hi Sean. Exterior colour of eggs does not make a difference in taste. Different breeds have different exterior colour. It’s what you feed them and how they are treated for yolk colour. My son gave me some 3 years ago and my girls lay blue, green and brown eggs. Mine roam around my yard and their yolks are very dark in the summertime from their diet which includes bugs and worms. They make great pets.
Make a paste with baking soda mixture...leave for ten minutes or so then scrub, repeat as necessary.
The color of the egg shells is all caused by what they are feeding them. The lady down the road from us feeds her chickens apples and so some of her eggs are light green some are light orange but they all taste the same.
Chickens are easy to keep, with your new land already set up for them get yourself 4 to 6 hens, Buff Orpington are a good layer and calm breed. Been keeping them for 35 yrs on a dbl city lot.
When i used to stay with my auntie when i was a kid she used to get a grapefruit & cut it in half, she would put a teaspoon of honey on each half & then put them in the fridge overnight for breakfast in the morning, used to love it!
A green scouring pad and bit of a jiff cream cleaner will clean the oven in seconds .
The colour of the shell has nothing to do with the nutritional value of the egg. The yolk should be almost orange, as you said you learned at the show a few years ago. As for the psychological aspect of wanting white shells well we all have our quirks. 😉. I would suggest you look in to how egg yolks vs egg whites affect blood sugar and blood insulin levels. I think you may be surprised.
Dr Sten Eckberg has an interesting video showing the effect. “No Carb Foods Can Still Affect Blood Sugar”. I know you are not no carb but the information he gives is pertinent to your journey.
Wasn’t talking about the colour of the shell but the colour of the yolk.
@@seanjamescameron ah I misunderstood. I should wait to have a coffee before I watch. I must have still been asleep.
😉🤣
Lots of medications tell you to avoid grapefruit due to interactions/ deactivating meds so I've never had one.
Hi Sean, honestly, I recommend using Cif cleaner from any supermarket, use it with a metal scourer ❤
All us cleaners thinking we need to do that cooker
Here in the Deep South. We freeze the grapes for a cool, refreshing snack.
Summer treat trick for grapes! Freeze wee washed bunches and snack on them on a hot day. Watermelon wedges are also great for this. Better than ice lollies any day 😉
Lovely food haul. I can’t believe the cost of food in the UK is so low. That would have cost me close-to $80.00 or more in US. I have shopped in UK with a friend and your food seems so fresh.
Best not bring scrubbers home, Sean. :)
Bicarb soda and vinegar pade into a paste the consistency of toothpaste and unfortunately a huge dose of elbow grease.
in the evenings I tend to watch TH-cam. My room is quite dark even with the lights. when the weather is nice I hope to read my book in my book nook patio, that I have put fairy lights, ,lanterns and a shagpile rug that I pull out. It will make me do some reading away from the screen. I also organise my volunteer group and do emails in the evening. I also report bad drivers to the dvla lol
LOL. Someone after my own heart. I spent yesterday evening reporting an alleyway where antisocial behaviour was afoot. Your cosy reading nook sounds like bliss!
All you need is a good old fashioned Brillo pad
Don't use the Brillo on the hob tho it'll scratch the enamel
You can slice the grapefruit in 1/2, sprinkle with sugar and eat the segments with your serrated grapefruit spoon, or you can peak, remove the segment casing. Sprinkle the fruit with a bit of salt, and eat. Its better refrigerated. People who take medication for high blood pressure should be careful or perhaps just not eat this fruit
There are quite a few medications that conflict with grapefruit.
@lancslass8 err where did I say anything about salt or sugar? Sea salt is fine. Its carbs, fruit, and vegetables, processed food, that contain high levels of salt and sugar
You need to make it into a thick paste and leave it for half an hour before cleaning
Left it overnight and now it's gleeming.
Think toothpaste consistency. When i saw you glug the vinegar in i went 😮 Nooooo 😂
Good grief man. Get yourself a bottle of Astonish Hob Cleaner(bright orange bottle with navy lid) and a pack of Spontex green scrubbers. All available from the cleaning aisle at Home Bargains. It won't tell your punters if you don't 😂 The cream makes a fabulous job of the black plates.
I freeze grapes in the summer, great to pop in your mouth as a refreshing treat. They slowly melt in your mouth. I freeze a lot of fruit and veg. I probably would have chopped that leek up and frozen it. I use leek and spring onions in cooking as I can't tolerate onions or garlic but I can tolerate those. Chives too, or garlic infused olive oil. Chives again I pop in the freezer. My mint is growing like mad in the garden, so I have frozen some in food bags. Herbs are a great thing to grow Sean, mint can go crazy though. It's why I keep mine contained in a tub. 🪴🪴🪴🌿🌿🌿
Your bicarb and vinegar needs to be a paste consistency
Hi Sean, that was a lovely rendition of 'Memories Are Made of This,' together with a demo of your new hobby, cleaning the cooker top. It's 59F or 15C in Ottawa, our nation's capital, Canada, at the moment. 🌺🌺🌺
Egg shell colour depends on what breed of chicken is laying them,a beautiful yellow yolk is a corn fed chicken
Hi, one of my chickens lays blue egg and I swear they taste better than the brown eggs. 🐓
As storage is tight in your fridge, would it be worth chopping / preparing the produce and popping it in plastic stackable tupperware type boxes?
If you do have spare, then easy to freeze in the box, or give away. Although I tend to only freeze home cooked (batch) meals, or meat.
Like you my kitchen & storage space is very limited, I have found that by preparing the produce & then storing it in containers, also means that any waste goes striaght in the compost & I've found that it takes up less space in the fridge & as it is ready to use makes it quicker for when I come to use it.
For the containers, I have 2 types, a multi container stack - that all fit inside each other (probably from Lidl or Aldi, or similar) for things that I won't use all at once, but chop & add to the slow cooker, or salad bowl, or one off's bits like halves of fruit like grapefruit or papaya etc. Then I can downsize the container when I need to. The other type are all the same size, microwavable and freezable containers, also ideal for batching a meal / spare from the slow cooker. I use these for things that I usually buy every week, like grapes, blueberries, and veg.
I have also found that shopping on consistent days, either every week or every other week, help keep the fridge organised (& I clean it before shopping day), and it makes rotating easier & means minimal waste :)
For stuff I am swopping, (produce glut swop) I have found that an ice cream box (like Carte D'Or, or a cheapy classic ice cream) works well, as easily stores 500g chopped or prepared, & most ppl have an ice cream box so can do an exchange. Obviously best to exchange value for value, like berries for berries, and roots for roots etc.
With the grapefruit, peel it (or grate it) & put the peel & some orange & lemon peel in a pan & simmer for half an hour, strain off the peel, & bottle the water for a cordial concentrate, you could freeze it into ice cube trays / sticks & add to a glass in the summer. 😊 obviously eat the flesh of the fruit, usually sliced in half, (like cutting through the belly of a terry's chocolate orange). Although you could segment it, like an orange, and have a few segments in with other fruits and berries, and some Kiefer or actimel (very refreshing on a hot summer morning 😊)
I think you are over loading your fridge and freezer!! They won’t work efficiently with to much in them! ☹️Perhaps a fridge on work top and a freezer where the old fridge once lived( under the counter top.👍😎
If you want to pay for them then I'll happily do as you suggest, in the meantime, this is all I have so work with it.
Just a suggestion! Perhaps someone will take pity on you and donate them to you, you seem to do well with that sort of thing!!!!
Sean you need to try a pot of "the pink stuff" and a scourer its very cheap and super fast working for the cooker.
Good Morning Sean, plenty of elbow grease as well as soda and white vinegar, I use apple cider vinegar it smells better for all sortsof cleaning ie windows mirrors, time for a cuppa tea ☕ 👋
Actually I use white vinegar in my own homemade floor cleaner, because it is pet friendly. I had a Westie that suffered with allergies, I discovered how bad purchased cleaning products were for pets. So I use white vinegar, lemon juice, witch hazel (opt), squirt of dishwashing liquid into a spray bottle fill to the top with water. White vinegar is good for cleaning windows and removing stains from fabrics.
You need another fridge! One for all your veg and one for all your other stuff. I picked up a small fridge just for my veg. No freezer. Fresh veg takes up so much space. It gives me the extra space to have salads made up ahead of time also. Cute music!
Like others have already said, using the vinegar and baking soda should be a paste, the action of the soda is to create an abrasive whilst the vinegar is supposed to dilute the grease. you are using too much liquid in that at the moment. If you wanted to go down the chemical route, standard spray on foaming oven cleaner is what you would need. I even use that for cleaning car parts , LOL. see you next time.
No,you mix it into a paste and the put it onto the cooker leave it for a while and rub off
put silver foil round edges rim cooker rims ,remove and repeat, save cleanings , and cheaper.
😂🤣😂, looking forward to seeing the legs out Sean lol, i agree would be inappropriate just to waltz around the village in a t shirt 😂, loved the interlude of music while chopping your mushrooms lol, see you in the next one 😊
Red or Green seedless Grapes from the FREEZER is a lovely refreshing summer treat. You will be amazed.
I use Cif use to be called Jiff cream cleaner with the green bit of your washing up sponge, can't beat it tbh for the cooker, all done in five minuets.
You do make me laugh. What a sense of humour 😂
You do make me laugh Sean "Memories are made of this" 🤣
Prob best to make a paste and when you do your next order from Waitrose get a scourer sponge Sean. Excellent you can use that vinegar to clean your Windows and your taps and bathroom 😊 sorted!!
When I was in my gym days, the trainer put me on sweet potato (increases metabolism) green beans and chicken for a main meal. (cayenne pepper can be sprinkled on anything, also helps with metabolism) ....re sugar spikes from carbs, having ACVM (apple cider vinegar with the MOTHER) before a meal reduces the spikes, helps also with losing fat, oh and also your white spuds, white rice, and white pasta, if cooked the night before and left in the fridge to reheat for dinner the next night also reduces the usual glucose spike, versus freshly cooked for dinner. Regards from Sydney.
Thank you very much for that.
@@seanjamescameron your welcome Sean.
I've been carefully monitoring my general health, drugs, food, drinks and exercise lately after a pretty seriously operation which turned into an awakening moment. And two early conclusions in my case are that exercise, just walking, pushes my blood pressure down and caffeine pushes it up. Great to follow your walking adventures in the town and country but give the tea a thought Sean and maybe consider decaff? Stay safe and well and live long.
Sean use fine wire wool and washing up liquid will come up lovely and clean
Hahaaa, that cauli story made me giggle. The joys of delivery. You have great taste in foodstuffs. Big fruit bowl/basket, maybe? Thanks for posting!!
Instead of getting just a freezer ..... wouldn't it be better to get another refrigerator just like you have now? Double the space. Just a thought.
No because I have to plan to freeze all the produce I grow.
@@seanjamescameron Got ya.
I trim the stem and stand my broccoli in a glass of water. It lasts longer. I also noticed that you could use some shelves in the top cupboards. You can pick them up as a 'stand alone' shelf from one of those cheap shops. I use them and I can now get more into that wasted space.
How about some advocado with eggs for brekkie Sean?
Never tried it.
Delicious and nutritious
@@seanjamescameron yes they are a superfood and full of potassium, they are low sugar and good for digestion and the heart, eyes and a natural fat that the digestive system loves and they keep you fuller much longer 👍
Love avo toast!
Grapefruit..Mom used to put a little brown sugar on half and put it under the broiler. Very tasty.
Hi Sean, Greek style yoghurt is thickened using a powder, Greek yogurt isn’t it is thick naturally, just letting you know just in case you didn’t know
if you start to lay your own eggs, you'll discover more than what is a fresh egg!
😂😂
Those Nordic socks are wonderful, I have lots of them, like you I bought in the sales. Very comfortable
Sean, have you ever seen a comedy where many people keep climbing into a tiny car? I couldn’t help thinking of that and chuckling to myself as I watched you fill up that fridge of yours. Love your videos!
Ratio : 2 to One, make a thick paste of it and leave sit for a long while. That's why I like to also use a razor blade.
hugs
Donna
Make a thick paste Sean put the bicarbonate of soda and a little few drops of white vinegar around it and leave it for a few mins don't put the cooker on though..
As regards to red grapefruit, I loved it until I started getting arthritic pains all over my body seemily everyone on medication knows not to get grapefruit, I am on a homeopathy remedy and you are not supposed to take it with that either..
Hope that helps Sean 👍😉🇨🇮☘️Eire
Being a Californian who has citrus year round…you keep grapefruit out in the fruit bowl. Cut it in half and them section it in the wedges and scoop it out with a spoon or fork. We also have grapefruit spoons which are spoons with a serrated edge.
Regarding the cooker, buy some Brillo Pads, wet one and scrub away, then wipe with a damp cloth, bingo! 🙏🏻 they always work a treat, easy- peasy😊
Cook your spinach to wilt it and squeeze the liquid out then put it in your wee fridge. Nice heated on toast with a poached egg and salmon. Just a thought and good morning. Also put the spring onions in a jar and it will grow for weeks.
Once you have applied your vinegar and bicarbonate and agitated it on the stained surface, let it dwell on the surface for about half hour/hour then wipe. If really stubborn stain, apply and cover with a little clingfilm and leave longer to marinate for several hours/overnight. The clingfilm stops the mixture from drying out before it’s softened the stain completely..
Vinegar and bicarbonate just makes lots of fizz but cancel each other out. A paste of bicarb and water dabbed on and left for a few minutes works better.
(Sodium bicarbonate is alkaline and vinegar is acid, the fizz is just a reaction but has no effect on the cleaning potential, contrary to what most people think)
I just mix the baking soda with a wee bit of water.
Makes sense. I'm using an empty Dawn bottle for a soda and water mix to squeeze a squirt into the dishwater when I clean up. I guess it softens the water. I do it to make the bubbles last longer. Seems to work.
Sweet potatoes ,yum, yum, yum! Sweet potatoes are good plain and baked, pie, bread, soup, burger, casserole, chips, 💕💕💕
Duck eggs are also quite yummy.
The blue door and bell were quite nice. Also, your grandfather clock is beautiful and the chime sounds delightful.
Blessings 🫖🍇💐 🎶🍠
You just need some hob brite for the hob. Leave it on 15 mins and then wipe it off. Rarely needs scrubbing unless it’s been burnt on a while
Hello, about the eggs: The bright yolk just means that there is a certain ingredient in the food for the hens. Normally buyers like those glowing eggs better, that is why farmers do that. But the pale egg is the better one, more natural.
Farmer markets are usually my first preference when doing my weekly food shop and try to purchase seasonally produce to keep within my budget.
Goodafternoon Sean, regarding the fresh produce the rule of thumb i use is if its in the fridge in the shop i leave it in the fridge at home. The grapefruit, you peel it like an orange.some people cut in half and scoop out. I did the same as you and got a kilo of BofS and the same size white vinegar as you. I made it into a paste. These two ingredients can be used for many household chores🤗
I noticed that mayonnaise wasn’t in the fridge after everyone had a meltdown when I put mine in the cupboard, like it is on the shelf.
Once mayo is opened needs refrigeration. Surely it says that on the containers label.
Yes you are right but it wasn't when Sean was packing away. It's always best to look on the label once opened on all goods
I’ve got tomatoes cucumber and purple spring onions in pots in my greenhouse. Everything seems to be growing very slowly
Hello , I find if I don't take the mushrooms out of the package they goes slimy .
Hope you have a good day .
The company that makes the bicarbonate of soda you purchased, makes a ready mixed bicarbonate of soda cream cleaner, it’s great for cleaning lots of different things in the kitchen, bathroom and around the home, the place you purchased it from sells it too, I buy a multi pack of 6 for £11.88
Sean, don't forget that starches are long-chain sugars and they can wreak havoc on your blood sugar and your liver. My husband's family has a horrible history of diabetes (even when they are skinny and active), and several members have non-alchoholic fatty liver disease. The thing that keeps my husband's blood sugar just barely the right side of prediabetic is a low-carb diet. He is NOT overweight and he is very active!
You should keep all of the plastic trays like that, because you are correct, they come in handy for sowing seeds. They do the trick. You don’t need fancy stuff. Fresh peas are the best. They taste better than frozen. Get a fruit bowl. Stick it on top of your fridge. Check out that second hand place. 👍❤️👍
Steele soap pad and a bit of elbow grease…or Ajax and damp cloth… vinegar and bicarb in the toilet keeps it clean and deodorised
Food in fridge or not ? I reason it that when I shop in the supermarket if the food is in the chiller cabinet, butter, milk cheese etc then it goes in the fridge, if it’s not, parsnips, carrots, mushrooms, leeks etc then it stays outside …. simple really 😉 I guess the guys in the supermarkets know a thing or two about keeping food fresh and saleable for as long as possible !
Best of luck with the new project, exciting times eh ?
All the best,
R.
Grapefruit is so refreshing. I cut it in half, go round the circumference with a serrated knife, then the same with each section. squeeze each half over a bowl and the pieces drop out along with the juice. Some people add sugar, but I like the acidity
Sean, vinegar is a powerful cleaning product but be careful when applying ti anything that may corrode.
Nancy Birtwhistle former Great British Bake Off winner has brilliant money saving ideas including homemade cleaning product recipes and baking ideas too. She is on social media .
If you are cutting down on sugar you may not realise that grapes and bananas have high levels of sugar 😢
Always enjoy watching your videos 😊
I love theock sound in background.
Leeks vinaigrette in the summer yummy.
Make a paste Sean and then leave it for awhile. Works like a charm. That pink grape fruit will be delicious. It can stay warm ur of the fridge as long as it 26:55 is not too hot In your kitchen. Cut it in half and using a grape fruit spoon scrape out the segments . Sprinkle just a little sugar on top. Yum. Mushrooms keep longer in your fridge if you keep them in a brown paper bag. Here in My local stores in the Vancouver area, paper bags are always piled beside the bulk mushrooms. Just another way to keep them fresh.
Hope you have success with your scrubbing. Have a great weekend. Enjoy the sunshine as we will here in Vancouver. Mother’s Day is on Sunday.
I explained in a previous video that my mushrooms keep for a month as I'm doing them, I wouldn't want them to last any longer. The walls of these cottages are quite thick so it is always cool.
@@seanjamescameron That is that your mushrooms last that long. 👍🏻
Usually gone within a week! Munching on some right now.
Good morning Sean have you ever thought of getting an old fashion food safe to go outside your back door in the shade you could keep your less perishable food in 💡
Great idea. Our house is very small, so from Oct to March (Wisconsin, USA), I use ordinary picnic coolers out on the screen porch to store cold things there's no room for. Cheese, meats, beer. We all do that around here. An unheated garage could work too.
Cream cleaner much easier!
LOL! I save my vege and meat trays, too! And for mostly garden stuff!
I hear people saying the color of eggs doesn't matter but my friend, who keeps chickens, says thats not true. The color of the eggs are determined by the different breeds and there are subtle differences in the fat and protein content of the eggs depending on the breed. That's why the depth of color to the yolks is so different.
She says she can tell the difference in the flavor, but I guess my palate must not be as sophisticated as hers because the eggs all taste the same to me! She has the pale Easter egg colors, and several shades of brown, and I've tried them all -- still can't taste a difference. 🤷♀
Hey there, I am just seeing the grapes... as a person with Diabetes , I can eat either 3 grapes or a hole handfull of berries.. I habe not eaten grapes for years. I like green/blue eggs best. ❤ oh ja, grapefruite will lessen medication, so careful when you eat it. Best not when you take your medication. If you use hot water and bakingsoda 2 tbs, and just put it on the stove around the cooking plates, the crusted bits will come up better. Dont put viniger on the plates, they rust. And use the scotchpad to clean .. less work.. btw if you wanna safe your pipes from cloging up, use bakingsoda 3 tablespoons, and 1/2 cup viniger, pure in the drain, close it up for 15 to 30 min , then pur about 3 liters boiling water in. It will wash away the grime in the pipes. Do monthly or at least every 3 month.
I’m talking back to you Sean, “Seedling Trays” 😂😂, fascinating what you can fit in that fridge 😂, well done
