    Well damn! You did a great emulation of Pike's Matamp/Soldano tone, THOUSANDS of dollars worth of amps, with the helix. Well done sir!

      Thanks, can do! Once my Yngwie Duck Strat replica gets back from the shop, I may do an Yngwie soundalike. That or Kiss.

    Great video man. You did get really close to that sound. well done. Those first two albums are special, came out when I was in high school and I listened to them a ton, still do. I also thought Jack Endino captured their raw essence well on the death is this communion album. Which is probably the last HoF album I really love, saw them live just after it came out. Luminiferous is really good. I still love them. Snakes For The Divine was the only one I was largely disappointed with.

      I did enjoy their new one, Electric Messiah, but I still don't think anything has equaled Art of Self Defense. Thanks for the kind words!

      I was underwhelmed when snakes came out, but seeing the tour fixed it. It ruins me I can't connect with EM.

    Hey man if you want to geek out about amps and playing around with sims and amp tech interchanging, let me know. There's not many people that are thinking like you out there. I've done similar things to simulate a VH4 using a hotrod marshall circuit with a mesa poweramp, simulating an OR120 with a fender style cathode on a Marshall head etc. It really helps on GAS to know when you can bridge the gap between amps like this. Really clever and thoughtful approach and you nailed it.

      Oooh, a VH4 emulation? Diesel amps are high on the list of ones I'd love to own.

      @@obsessedwithguitars3157 I've been doing what you're doing by IRL with Randall modular stuff because I already went through the AxeFX cycle with 10 years in on it. I got close enough to understanding what I really like that I went back to real amps and don't regret it at all. There's a HUGE difference in how you play when your fingers interact with the strings and the power of the amp itself. I learned I really like hotrod Marshall stuff the most and found a speaker I really identify with. I basically wanted to understand scientifically, like you're approaching this what I like the sound of. I started learning how amps are put together and you start to learn who is ripping off who and why, it's really interesting. If you're a Marshall guy you can own all the great Marshall clones, the 800, Shiva, XTC, etc etc etc using the RM100. Even the Soldano is SORT of a JCM clone with a HiFi transformer and a different cap value from Marshall. The 5150 and Recto are clones of the Soldano but with bias differences the 5150 and a weaker power section for the recto (what we call SAG). Assumedly you're on your own journy to craft your own tone as well, this stuff is enormously helpful. It's crazy to think how much power we have now that was once reserved for platinum artists to be able to cycle through gear. Cheers.

    Miss your channel man!
    I recently got a pair of basically Matamp 2x12s, one with Celestion G12T100s and the other with Eminence Tonkers. I also had an Emperor Cab with v30s. All of them sounded so muffled and far away, and almost “fake” sounding, like a super old solid state kind of sound.
    My no name Chinese cab sounds so clear and studio like. No idea why.
    Any experiences like this? I feel like I’m losing my mind lol

    • @obsessedwithguitars3157
      @obsessedwithguitars3157  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pairing the right cab with the right amp definitely makes a difference, but I'm surprised at your experience with that Matamp cab! Maybe bad speakers or bad connection with them?
      Thanks for the kind words, I miss doing videos on the regular!

      @@obsessedwithguitars3157 no problem at all man I appreciate the videos and response !
      Since I’ve had the same experience now 3 times, it has to be me that’s the problem, right ? I think I’m gonna save up and wait for a nice orange tube amp to pop up and try that out. That or a speaker swap somehow lol

      @@obsessedwithguitars3157 I have the full size floor version. Most of the time I run it into the loop of my BadCat Unleash to feed my orange 2x12.
