"Making the RAILS"
Building a ship model of the HMS PEGASUS (1776) in scale 1:64. Kit manufactured by the Italian company Amati. Here I share my personal impressions of the kit and results.
HMS Pegasus was the sixth of 25 Swan Class ship rigged sloops ordered by the Admiralty between 1766 and 1780. Built at Sheerness Dockyard, Pegasus was launched on December 27th, 1776.

Rails & wales give me the most pause in building, for wondering if I'm better off to prototype construction rather than applique. Moulded rails complicate that question. Your rails turned out outstanding.

Have you looked into MicroMark's PSA--Pressure Senistive Adhesive? I find it near ideal for glazing cabins & charthouses as it will not fog clear materials. The grip seems strong, too. (Mind, I only have a couple of months of observation on the holding power.)
I use Bob Smith's CA - it also does not fog when gluing windows. I also like that it has a less strong smell than regular superglue...

It's a pretty thin and hard metal, so why throw it away! Also, I don't throw away broken drills, because they can be used to make good woodcarving tools...

Все же за "стеклами" видна фактура крашеного дерева. Не хочу учить, но я бы сделал так: на пленку изнутри наклеил бы черную пленку для авто-х стекол (tinting film). Пусть уж лучше глухой черный цвет, чем фактура дерева. Удачи Вам в Вашем хобби!
зашкурить пленку нулевкой и черным матовым , да в принципе любая черная матовая основа придаст глубину.
Да, я всегда страдаю от макросьемки + правильньІй свет))) Окна с самим большим отверстием менее 3х4 мм с постоянной рефлекцией делают то што за стеклом, совершенно невидимим - просто черная глубина, так как окрашенная часть находится на некотором расстоянии от стекла...

I've noticed that you are scraping the rails "blindly", i.e. not seeing what's happening to the batten because it's upside down and also shielded to view by the metal block. I use to scrape similarly, but with the batten fixed to a flat surface by adhesive tape and holding the scraper blade with two hands... much more control on the tool and tou see immediately the result on the wood. Of course I use a larger old blade to build the scraper, one of those of trapezoid shape for heavy duty jobs.

Yes, I also use this method, but for soft wood, the "inverted" method is much faster, and the result is the same! I can't explain why I choose one or the other method in each case - probably intuition...

I have different acrylic paint from Michaels. Here I mixed a blue thin matte paint with a very thick glossy black... And I still had to paint in 3 layers.

Copper hull ships always were a mystery to me.
I think, it would have been better to cover the inner side of the window with thin tissue paper, like the one used on model airplanes and then apply paint and lacquer over it. It would hide the wood grains easily. Another option - use the same tissue paper to imitate fabric curtains behind the glass.
Yes, I always suffer from macro shooting + the right light))) Windows with the largest opening less than 3x4 mm with light reflection make what is behind the glass completely invisible - just black depth, since the painted part is at some distance from the glass...
@@OlhaBatchvarov Yeah, I know, what you mean. The small details and particularly imperfections always seem more pronounced on the model photos, then what you can see with a naked eye.
Still, I think, some paper curtains behind the glass would make it look more lively and even realistic.
Beautiful work on the mouldings are they made from pine or balsa. Always a pleasure to watch and nice to see Imbir doing the inspection

@@OlhaBatchvarov это точно. Собирал Сан Джовани Батиста от деагостини и Виктори. Журналы может и итальянские но детали китайские. На Виктори уже после приклеивания обшивки пришлось всё снимать, копировать по одному борту шпангоуты и резать новые. На оригинале всё шло криво да косо.

No, I won't use any filler.
I prefer the fibers to be visible. This is important if you need to shape and completely paint the hull (for example, to imitate the perfectly smooth surface of modern plastic boats)...
Me pregunto porque has colocado los ventanales de proa pegados directamente al casco y nos has abierto el hueco en el casco para dar mas sensacion de profundidad y de realismo, creo que se nota demasiado que no es real porque se ven los listones pintados.

I use different craft paints. On this model, I mixed them. Exactly what paints and in what proportions I showed and described in the subtitles in one of the previous videos where I painted this sloop...

А разве окна на корме были плоскими? Мне казалось что это такие выступающие раковины....
А вы сам набор из которого строиться модель видели ? Или по Вашему мнению нужно совсем уж игнорировать то что производитель задумал....😀Стройте с ноля самостоятельно и будет Вам счастье, и главное все в соответствии с прототипом...🙂
@@PavelNikitinShips а причём тут набор? Я говорил про реальные корабли. И если производитель сделал модель, которая не соответствует прототипу, то это огромный минус производителю набора. И фразу "я автор, я так вижу" применять нельзя.
Должни бить "раковини", но ето КИТ поетому все упрощенно до невозможности, если хотите построить максимально точную копию шлюпа етого класа - тогда вам надо купить копию архивних чертежей в Национальном Морском музее в Гринвиче и строить с нуля полностью!
Я делаю ету серию для новичков с минимумом доработок, которие можно сделать из подручних материалов без станков. Слава богу сейчас продают и хорошую древисину и нитки, на голову више по качеству чем в наборах...

Это коммерческий Кит который продается по всему миру много лет, и его покупают и строят люди абсолютно разной квалификации, и профессиональные моделисты к нему просто не подходят. Ольга учит, всех кому это интересно, как построить именно Кит, а не как его переделать в угоду лично Вам. Про то что Производитель Кита в лице "Амати" тоже не просто наблюдатель этого процесса я даже не заикаюсь...😁 Но это для Вас похоже вообще никакого значения не имеет...😀 Просто из любопытства, Вам известно толкование слова "бизнес"...😁
@@PavelNikitinShips а вам пора понять, что то, что производите лично вы или кто-то там ещё, совершенно необязательно должно нравиться всем поголовно. И никто не запрещает это критиковать. А если вам не нравится критика ваших китов, то это ваши проблемы. Ольга отлично делает модели. Она молодец. И если в процессе сборки оказывается, что производитель кита подсунул ей упрощение, которое очевидно всем, то это значит что у нее в коллекции будет стоять модель, которая будет вызывать вопросы, и все, кто в курсе, все кому не лень, будут туда тыкать пальцем и говорить, а чего у тебя здесь такой косяк? А она будет объяснять типа "ну это не я, это производитель кита". А если не спросит, то будет думать что это она такой косяк сделала. А уж если поставить на выставку, то там точно всем будет наплевать на исходный кит, потому что это уже будет конечным продуктом, за который полностью отвечает тот, кто его сделал.
