    Dr Berg recently changed my keto coffee to 50/50 coffee and roasted chicory root. The big change for me is my blood surgars. Plain black coffee can send my FBS up 10 to 20 points. This new combo for me is pulling it down. Apparently Chicory is being studied for it's effects of reducing inulin resistance. Just wanted to share.

      Not inulin resistance, *insulin* resistance
      INULIN is the good stuff that the chicory produces in the body. Two completely diff things

    I just love the efficiency of these videos, short altho all info you need is there and straight to the point. I've bought Caro Original from Nestle right before I started Keto cause drinking coffee everyday made me burping constantly thruout the day and sometimes even acid reflux. But reading what it was made of I almost threw it away (Barley, barley malt, chicory, rye.) as I thought these are all grains so I can't have it! I didn't even check the nutrients scale. Thanx Dr. Berg, now I can substitute it for coffee👍

    Roasted Dandelion Root tea (I buy the Traditional Medicinals brand; organic, non-GMO) is a FANTASTIC beverage. It tastes really good and is caffeine free, so it can be consumed anytime of the day. Dandelion Root has some evidence of aiding liver function and digestion, too, so if that's of interest to you, then I highly recommend you try it (I recommend it to everyone, regardless)!

    I have dropped many of my eating habits the past year (soda, junk food, cakes, red meats, here and there I won't have as much dairy) but it's extremely hard for me to not have coffee. That is one thing I'm finding the most difficult because I also have it with organic sugar. Will this be a problem when it comes to my adrenal gland and the basics of dieting? I've lost weight everywhere but I'm trying to target lower belly fat. Thank you for your video! You've helped me a bunch.

    There is Atomo coffee which supposedly is identical to taste as real coffee. They make an espresso which you can use in espresso machines and it even makes the crema. Unfortunately it is available in the U.S. for now. Some of the Ingredients:
    Date Seeds
    Ramon Seeds
    Lemon
    Pea Protein
    Fenugreek
    Guava
    Millet
    Caffeine
    (from green tea)
    Fructose

    Dr. Berg, can u explain why caffeine can cause weight gain and does it effect cholesterol? :))

    • @SecretplaceintheGlory
      @SecretplaceintheGlory 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It triggers the release of cortisol, a stress hormone, and it also causes adrenal fatigue. When we are stressed, this caused the body to release (or make available) more glucose in the bloodstream. So, in a roundabout way, caffeine (and it's similar cousins theobromine and nicotine) cause high blood sugar, which can bring you out of keto as well as stimulating your body to deposit fat around the midsection.

    Dr. Berg, Don't forget the teas: green, black, fermented (pu'er, which has the benefit of inducing mental clarity and calm), yerba mate. Perhaps better still is maca root, which is a stimulant, but also has the benefit of increasing testosterone. All of these would be better described as alternatives to coffee. They are substitutes only in the sense that they are stimulants and can be taken hot.

    Caffeine is my crutch. I don't even like the taste of black coffee. I used to put 12 pkts of regular sugar to mask the taste, then I started adding local honey to it. Did wonders for my allergies and the taste wasn't so bad once acquired. Then, I discovered Dr Berg and found out firsthand that it messes with my ketosis. So I now disguise the taste with sugar substitutes, heavy cream, ground Cinnamon, ground cloves, and/or coconut oil.
    I tried to give up this dreadful drug once, but I felt as if there was an ax lodged in my head splitting it open every few minutes.. and once that headache starts there is no remedy for me. I will lay in bed nauseated and not able to see light nor smell anything strong. Invariably, I will throw up and feel as if my head is exploding in the process. The word 'useless' describes me in full when I'm going through that.
    I really do want to give it up, but it's like this terrible beast holds me by the neck and says, "You thought you could get rid of me? I don't think so!" 😩
    I can't see this coffee substitute helping me. My addiction to that 1 and only cup of coffee in the mornings is simply too powerful.

      Yeah, that's what every addict says. Caffeine provides no benefit. It ruins the natural energetics of the heart. Flushed out vitamins and electrolytes. Ruins your adrenals. And it is a very addicting drug. Just like alcohol or nicotine, it is legal. It is a huge business. Why would you want to use a stimulant daily if you can have same amount of energy without it? I was drinking coffee for plenty of years, until I stopped. Then I started to feel much better. Better moods, better energy levels. I see every day people in my office who NEED to drink the coffee in order to even start waking up and begin working. That is not normal. There's one 'but'. You saying that some days you don't feel the cravings. Few days of not taking the drug you ingesting for years on a regular basis means nothing. Check Gabor Mate 'psychology of addiction' for a start. That one BUT is this: If you are able to go without caffeine [means no coffee, no lucozade, no tea, no green tea, NO CAFFEINE AT ALL] for 3-4 months - then yes, you are NOT addicted. Why so long? Dopamine pathways need approximately 2-3 months to regrow, possibly much longer with lifelong addictions. But it's going to be a good start. DO this, and then tell me why you were drinking it on the first place? Was it because of high it gave you? The temporal rush of energy? Confidence? Dopamine boost? Think about it. Changing the quantity from 3 cigarettes to one and back to six per day means nothing. If you're not addicted why are you doing it?

      Yeah, me too. But of course the genesis of every complex topic like that is far to wide to accept just one opinion (or opinion of someone you treat as "an authority") - don't take anything with a face value. Do your own research. Make your own conclusions. That's what I always do. Have a great day :)

    The problem is that there is a solvent to decaffeinate the coffee, isnt it harmful?

    If you're working on weight loss in a ketogenic diet, I'm guessing you'd probably want to avoid Teccino or Roma because of the carbs?

      He said - in the video - that the amount of carbs isn’t going to take you out your limit.

    Roma what brand?

      @Drberg  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Dr. Berg can't recommend a specific brand because he is not involved in the quality of other products or ingredients used. You'll have to do your own research on this.
