Would rather re-watch Wizard a 3rd time before Ghost again. Sure Ghost wasn't as bad as the first time through but it still felt like a slog on re-watch for me.
It´s great that marcos made another Introduction to Kamen rider, because the history of KR dragon knight and the first introduction of KR is the reason i started watching toku.
Honestly, I'd recommend Zero One to anyone just getting into Kamen Rider since its a good enough introduction to the series while being fairly recent. Then Ex Aid since the beginning few episodes do a good job with pacing and establishing people
Brave-Ent Hey quick question: Are most of the Kamen Rider series in the same universe? I’ve been looking into the series, and read that at the end of Decade, they were combined into a single universe. Is that still cannon, and if so what shows post Decade are set in it? Also, what happened to the alternate worlds in Decade? Did they combine into the main Universe as well, or are they still their own Universes? Please keep in mind that I haven’t seen any Kamen Rider yet(though I plan on watching Kamen Rider J soon) but I mind being spoiled.
@@gomora1270 Most seasons are stand alone save for some cross overs but usually they rule that as dimensional anomalies. So even if that Decade ending were cannon, it was never mentioned again. So feel free to start wherever you want ^^
Do you seriously recommend ZERO ONE to everyone? Oh, my God... This season is a complete disappointment in terms of plot and character motivation. Especially Sauser and Valkyrie, who change their motivations at the click of a finger and as if nothing happened. The actions of the characters are absolutely made for a tick and do not affect the plot in any way. Well, Horobi's motivation to kill humanity is the stupidest. And Yes, the plot was written by Yuya Takahashi, who wrote the wretched Ex-Aid. By destroying your Canon and so on. I'm really wondering why you didn't recommend Kuuga or Faiz and Blade. Most episodes this season are full fillers and recaps
One of my favorite things about Kamen Rider is that it’s easy to find fans of every season. I personally have found even in seasons where the writing or pacing may not be the best, there is still an admirable amount of passion behind it to keep me invested. Very glad I found this franchise. Also the suits are just so darn cool.
I watched Kamen Rider Build as my first season and it was great! I think the characters will really appeal to anyone coming from an anime background, the editing is also really energetic and keeps up with the cartoony comedy style the writing has on the more casual moments It's also a really dark season! It has elements of both Hesei phase 1 and 2. The actors do a really great job of conveying the weight of the dramatic scenes. Also, it's CHOCK FULL of different suits! That was my favorite part, I think. I love W, but I was a bit sad to find out it had only a handful of different forms and powers. Build has many different power combinations, usually of an organic object and an inorganic object, so you're sure to have a favorite one. Mine is Pirate/Train! My boyfriend's is RabbitRabbit :B
The original kamen rider Amazon already has three contrasting manga adaptations, one by Ishinomori (as the writer) and Morihiko Ishikawa (as the artist of Sherlock Holmes manga fame) that is played for body horror but unluckily incomplete (to this day) thanks to Toei’s then agitating push to make the Kamen Rider Stronger show, the more comedic but still incomplete one by Tsuchiyama and the more complete one by Mitsuru Sugaya of Game Center Arashi fame, which is played for dark comedy like its Toku counterpart.
This vid is what made me got into Kamen Rider and tokusatsu as a whole back in October 2020 and it's been my latest obsession ever since. I also got one of my friends into tokusatsu and now he's also obsessed with it THANK YOU SO MUCH MARCOSATSU FOR THIS VID!
If your starting with W, I'd recommend to try Drive as a go around. Its structured the same as W but it has its own personality to it and you could never really hate many of the characters in it except for the true villain. The only bad thing about Drive was that it was overshadowed by its predecessor, Gaim. Other than that, try it. You'll love everybody there except for one.
Heya newcomers! At the end of the video, we were asked to give some recommendations. Heres my piece on the matter Id most likely recommend 1) Kamen rider Gaim: an excellent season with some genuinely amazing characters, it looks a little silly but trust me, things get serious quick 2) Kamen rider Zero-one: the first series of Reiwa brings alot to the table. Love-able characters, awesome suits, a great story, and some real heartfelt moments 3) Kamen rider Decade: Not my style personally but it is a beloved series in the fandom. With an amazing lead character, genuinely funny moments and an interesting story, this series is s good watch 4) Lastly I would recommend Kamen rider Build: This series made me laugh, cry and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. This series features an amazing cast of characters, a fantastic plot, some of the coolest suits in rider, and an amazing soundtrack. This series is a must watch!
Here you are, making a new version of your introduction to kamen rider video, while here I am, patiently waiting for that history of gaim series. But still, great video 👍
Den-O is hands down my favorite season of all time. This was the beginning of the funny jokes and gags that Kamen riders get to play with these days. Also! W is a great place to start if you’re interested in unraveling the sub plots of the series!
Started with Ex-Aid earlier this year whilst taking it slowly and its genuinely been an amazing series that continues to one up itself in both storytelling and action. Can't wait to explore more of the franchise.
*People from 5 years into the future* : "Why can't you recommend any more Reiwa series? Huh? What's wrong with Reiwa?" lol My favorite series are always going to be Wizard and Decade. I started Kamen Rider with watching Wizard, and went on from there. With Decade, I found myself relating to Decade himself a whole lot. I know it's not the most accurate since he goes to A.R Worlds, but I still love it.
I started with wizard around this time last year. Since then I’ve watched Kabuto,Double,Ex-aid,Faiz,Den-o,and Blade in that order. Akibarangers got me into toku stuff.
I started with Blade and then jumped to Double and went through just about all of them onward except Wizard. I might go back and give it a try since, hey, I liked Ghost.
The A.R. World also has a biracial, half-Latino/Mestizo Peruvian variant of the classic Kamen Rider Amazon. FKing hilarious because that variant was played by a mixed race guy whose alias was Enrique Sakamoto!
I started with build the went on to z io which got me interested in wizard, ex aid, ghost. not so much drive though. is blade kabuto double, faiz and deno any good. currently watching ghost, zero one and amazons.
I would recommend Kamen Rider Ex Aid! I may be bias as it’s my first kamen rider but it has an amazing story with great characters and a great villain. The villain is so wacky and a very “love to hate him” vibe. The four main doctors grow and learn to trust and rely on each other throughout the season and thus offers a ton of both funny and heartwarming moments. Plus how can you go wrong with a medical drama centered around video games? It’s wacky, heartfelt, and has great action scenes. Also the suits are fucking epic.
Tbh, My favorite KR series is Kamen Rider Den-O because its just light-hearted and has comedy that I can't forget with, Including the main character (Ryotaro). Even has a little hint of sadness om it, It's still pretty lit so that is my suggestion for it
I'd recommend Build and Ex-Aid (2017 and 2016 respectively) off the bat, they are both amazing, have great plots with theory potential all over the place, and amazing casts you can really get into. they're both pretty dark, but once you get into them, there is no going out until the final episode, in a good way. The latest season, Geats (2022) is also well worth watching, we're only 13 episodes in as of writing and it has been awesome. It is based off of fortnite, but it brings so much more than that, and there's so much mystery left to unravel with it.
First Kamen Rider series I finished was Ex-Aid. Definitely loved it! Kiva was the season I recently finished, and it is DEFINITELY in my all time favorites list!
I started my Kamen Rider journey a few months back, currently I've watched about half of the original, Black, Kuuga, about half of RX and I'm keeping up with Revice as it airs. I've been bouncing around the franchise history So far my personal favorite is Kuuga, I love the character relations and touches of Drama mixed in, helps to ground things a little and makes it feel like one long adventure as oppose to the more episodic nature of the Showa era. Black also has a very good story, the connection between Black and Shadow Moon adds a tragic element, and on a personal note, Black is my favorite Kamen Rider design currently The original is just plain fun, each episode is like a 20 minute B-movie with rubber suited monsters and the evil Shocker organization, I highly recommend checking out at least a bit of it
My entire knowledge of Kamen Rider is seeing the Masked Rider on Power Rangers and seeing a trailer for Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight once. I definitely needed to be educated, so was glad to see a video like this.
I've just started my Kamen Rider journey with Kuuga the other day, and I'm loving it so far! I tried to get into Ichigo years ago, but despite how much I loved the acting and camp I eventually moved away from it, but Heisei era Kamen Rider is really knocking it out of the park for me, and it makes me excited to get into the other Kamen Rider seasons as I go on!
I just started my Kamen Rider journey a months and a half ago with OG 1971 Kamen Rider I'm plaining to watch Kamen Rider Black when i'm done Kamen Rider 1971
Just finished my first ever Kamen Rider season in Saber. That questionable sibling relationship aside, I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't even care what others say. It brought me joy and mostly fun in a very tricky time for me personally. So I know I'll always cherish it.
honestly i would say if you a person who ADORES games and really likes a light hearted character i would say start with kamen rider ex aid because its basically a gaming doctor as i like to put it and kamen rider ex aid is about this boy named emu (or the genius gamer m) going along as a pediatric doctor and trying to make kids smile, he really likes games and honestly i had fun watching the season!
I actually feel decade is a great place to start for early heisei. It gives you a little taste of the earlier riders so you can decide where you wanna go next, and it’s shorter than most/all regular seasons, so you get through it at a good pace.
Grew up in the 90s and was introduced to Kamen Rider with Saban's Masked Rider. Now I'm watching the original Kamen Rider and its better than I expected it to be. Can't wait for the Kamen Rider Black Blu-ray release this month.
I just finished watching Zero One and I highly recommend it. When I saw the trailer for it, I was kinda hesitant about it because of the suit design. But my mind changed after eventually deciding to watch it. I genuinely believe the best henshin sounds are from this show. The characters are great and the story is really interesting. Go check it out!
Favorite: Build and OOO Respected: Fourze Hated: I don't hate any Kamen Riders. I actually started watch more Kamen Rider because of Ghost Broke my heart: Also Fourze Coolest Gimmick: The full Bottles
I started with kamen rider gaim due to the fact that the same writer behind madoka magica, fate/zero, psycho pass, etc was working on it. And I was not disappointed in the least with it. And that series got me to check other kamen riders out
My brother got me into kamen rider. He showed me Deno but my favourite is kiva at the start. My favourite is now Kabuto. I have watched all heisei and onwards but I want to watch more showa but it's great overall
I will always recommend Kiva. It's pretty formulaic and I think it can be an easy series to handle once you understand what goes on when the timeframe switches.
I'd personally recommend Den-O because of its comedy. Kabuto, because of the protagonist being cool. Fun fact, Kabuto was the most popular series because of the Rider's design too. From my perspective, it was the most popular before Heisei 2 came in. BLACK and BLACK RX. The protagonist is the same person. And my own current personal number 1 recommendation is: Kamen Rider Build. I just like the story, and the partnership between the protagonist and the partner. There are some comedy too.
My first rider show was OOO, it was still airing. I remember marathoning it until TaJaDor's debut, then I needed to wait a week from then on. I would highly recommend W to most people due to it being modern enough that the early Heisei jank isn't there, plus it's just a great show overall. I think that it's an easier sell....even with Akiko.
"You could start anywhere without watching anything prior." I watched showa episode 1 season 1, but then I later actually started with Double, and when i got to one the movies i was lost and confused through half of it because I didn't watch Decade first. Be weary of the movies, everyone. Especially the canon ones. Ya may need to look up between which episodes a movie takes place. Oh boy... Then I went back and finished showa season 1, and I loved it. That said, I personally reccomend Ichigo, Kuuga, Double, OOO, Zero-One, or Saber.
I would personally recommend Amazon riders to the ppl who wanna get into kamen rider but don't know where to start as it is a storyline which takes place in an alternate timeline. It's really good for ppl who like dark , gory , ragged up , gripping story
Ask anyone from the 80’s in Brazil about kamen Rider and the answer will always be the same. Kamen Rider Black from 87. The opening theme along still gives me goosebumps 35 years later.
My recommendations based on eras: -For Showa, Kamen Rider Black, since it's one of the latest Showa Seasons, and is well loved. -For Heisei Phase 1, Kamen Rider Den-O. A well rounded season that's quite fun. -For Heisei Phase 2, Kamen Rider Double. My personal favorite Season in the franchise. It's very well rounded, with tons of cool action, powers that aren't too confusing, lovable characters and fantastic writing. -For Reiwa, Zero-One... because that's the only option at the moment. Still a good season though. For other recommendations on more unique cases: -If you're a fan of anime, try Kamen Rider Fourze. The head writer of the show is also responsible for some of Studio Trigger's greatest works such as Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill and Promare. -If you're a video game fan, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid is a good spot. You'll love the amount of references the show has. If you also happen to like doctor dramas, that's an extra bonus. -If you're someone who likes series that are much darker, but fairly recent, Kamen Rider Build is a fantastic choice. It has a much more mature tone, but still has all that classic Kamen Rider love. -If you're a risk taker, try Kamen Rider Ghost. It's not well-liked by most fans. I went in with low expectations, but personally, I enjoyed it. -If you're someone that likes interacting with the fanbase, Kamen Rider Saber will start airing soon after this comment. You can start watching it and talk with others.
Now I’ve always known about Kamen Rider, at least I recognize the character when I see him but other than that I didn’t know much about him or any of the shows. Interestingly enough my first real taste of Kamen Rider was recently when I sat down and watched a few episodes of Zero One. I was immediately impressed with the overall presentation and the fast paced nature of the show. With that being said, I decided to go all the way back and watch the first episode of the original 1971 tv show and I have to say that I loved it. Considering it was the first entry in this ever expanding long running series, I had no idea the original show was as dark and serious as it was. Coming from just watching Zero One, the first Kamen Rider show is surprisingly adult in its theme and tone. I also really enjoyed the campy over the top villains and the general storyline. So far the first 10 episodes are absolutely fantastic for a show that’s 52 years old. I can honestly say I’m an official Kamen Rider fan and I look forward to seeing the new remake film Shin Kamen Rider and all the other tv shows and movies in the franchise. Thank you for uploading this video and your explanation on the different eras of Kamen Rider. Take care and I also look forward to seeing another one of your videos. Cheers!
okay so let me tell you about kamen 00:03 rider 00:04 with this franchise being nearly 50 00:06 years old alongside having over 30 00:08 seasons plus 00:09 movies specials and crossovers it may 00:12 seem overwhelming at first but that's 00:13 what this video is for 00:15 starting with the basics there are three 00:17 arrows of kamen rider 00:18 the showa era from 1971's kamen rider 00:22 also referred to as ichigo 00:23 to the theatrical kamen rider j the 00:26 heisei era 00:28 from 2000's kamen rider kuga to 2019's 00:31 kamen rider geo 00:32 and the rewa era from 2019's kamen rider 00:36 zero 1 00:36 onward aside from being easily 00:39 organizable 00:40 each era has its own style that can 00:41 appeal to anyone 00:43 but where do you start each season is 00:45 standalone for the most part so you can 00:47 really begin anywhere 00:48 kamen riders do appear a lot more 00:50 together during a showa era season 00:52 while the heisei era has crossovers 00:54 during movies but again 00:56 you can basically start anywhere without 00:58 worrying about watching anything prior 01:00 now what to watch specifically the 01:02 absolute main 01:04 number one thing i always recommend is 01:07 whatever looks cool to you did you grow 01:10 up with older monster movies and enjoy 01:12 the classic feel of the showa era 01:14 do you like a more modern look with the 01:16 rewa era maybe you like the drama of 01:18 early heisei 01:19 or the visual style of heisei's later 01:21 half does a particular suit stand out to 01:24 you 01:24 what about the motif have you ever come 01:27 across a cool clip and wanted to watch 01:29 where it came from 01:30 honestly whatever interest and appeals 01:32 to you is an easy start 01:34 especially since i think any season can 01:36 appeal to generally anyone 01:38 every season has a great cast wonderful 01:40 stories to be invested in 01:42 and of course fantastic action i'd 01:45 advise against avoiding seasons just 01:47 because someone else didn't like it 01:50 who knows maybe it could become your 01:51 favorite everyone has their own opinion 01:54 so please enjoy what you want although 01:57 if you're still stuck on what to watch 01:59 then here are a few seasons i can 02:00 recommend 02:01 kamen rider double o's and fours they 02:03 are the first three seasons of what's 02:05 known as heisei phase 2 02:06 or neo-heisei they're the easiest to get 02:09 into since they're episodic while having 02:11 overarching mysteries that keep you 02:13 saying 02:14 just one more episode you might be 02:17 interested in doubles detective stories 02:18 that has two people become one kamen 02:20 writer 02:21 or the story of a wanderer who teams up 02:23 with the monster to fight the 02:25 manifestation of human desires and kamen 02:27 rider o's 02:28 or a high schooler who juggles class and 02:30 making friends with absolutely everyone 02:32 while fighting monsters along the way 02:34 with kamen rider fourze 02:36 there's a lot to love with these three 02:38 especially their cast and their 02:40 heartfelt journeys 02:41 having cool suits helps too earlier when 02:44 i said that 02:44 each era has their own style that can 02:46 also apply to the heisei era's early and 02:49 later halves 02:50 often referred to as heisei phase 1 and 02:52 phase 2. 02:53 early heisei has more of a dramatic and 02:56 serious tone compared to the later half 02:58 but that's not to say phase 2 can't be 03:00 serious either 03:01 kamen rider kuuga might be the closest 03:03 to a j drama as it follows a lone writer 03:05 fighting human-like monsters that are 03:07 trying to play 03:08 deadly games it's a slower paced season 03:10 but those quieter moments make you enjoy 03:12 the little things 03:13 like a thumbs up from our hero another 03:16 easy recommendation is kamen rider den o 03:19 where an accident prone young man is 03:20 thrust into a time traveling train as he 03:22 makes friends with monsters 03:24 while going through touching moments 03:25 that i haven't experienced anywhere else 03:28 of course i'm not going over every 03:30 single season 03:31 these five are just the easiest i can 03:33 recommend to you for heisei 03:35 as for rawa then the next thing i can 03:37 say is to watch any current season 03:41 yeah that's it showa era is just a fun 03:44 time 03:44 ichigo's cheesy yet sincere 03:46 episodic-ness is great 03:48 kamen rider stronger has some classic 03:50 action kamen rider black and black rx 03:52 are well regarded by having great 03:54 stories to follow 03:55 komen rider 0 is a movie you can just 03:57 sit down and enjoy with touching 03:59 characters 04:00 these may be older than some are used to 04:02 but they shouldn't be skipped 04:04 or at the very least appreciate how far 04:06 we've come with the franchise 04:08 oh yeah there are a few outliers i want 04:11 to bring up as you continue your writer 04:13 journey there was an american adaptation 04:15 of kamen rider ryuky called kamen rider 04:17 dragon knight 04:18 i personally really loved it since it 04:20 still feels like a kamen rider season 04:22 with great characters story certain 04:24 tropes and action 04:26 just with english actors it's very 04:28 unique especially compared to its 04:30 japanese counterpart 04:32 and there is another american adaptation 04:35 called saban's masked rider 04:38 we don't talk about that one the last 04:41 time i want to bring 04:42 up our anniversary seasons komen rider 04:44 decade and konrider geo for heisei phase 04:46 1 and 2 respectively 04:48 i did say you can start anywhere while 04:50 these aren't 04:51 major exceptions you should take these 04:53 with caution anyway 04:55 mostly with konrider geo decade has a 04:58 couple cameos from previous writers 05:00 but he travels through alternate 05:01 versions of past rider season so in a 05:03 way 05:04 it's like a small taste of them on the 05:06 other hand 05:07 jio has cameos galore and brings up a 05:10 lot of past events 05:12 some of which kind of expect you to know 05:15 again you can watch these anniversary 05:18 seasons 05:19 just be wary of them with all that being 05:21 said 05:22 there is so much i didn't bring up since 05:24 these are my personal recommendations 05:26 you can start your khan writer journey 05:28 anywhere you like and i think you'll 05:30 enjoy this karate bug man series 05:32 if there's anything you're interested in 05:34 then let me know and to those who are 05:36 already fans then talk about your 05:38 recommendations too 05:39 just remember to be inclusive and don't 05:42 tell anyone to avoid any certain season 05:45 see you next time
if u like a more serious tone and drama, start with the first 5 Heisei Riders: Kuuga, Agito, Ryuki, Faiz, Blade. Also don't forget to check each of their special movies too!
I'd say W, OOO, and Fourze (in that order) is a great season to start. Since these three season are really easy to get in to, the characters are really charming, and I out of all Heisei season, those three season is probably the most connected (and I personally think the movie + the cross over movie of these three season is up there being the best movie in Kamen Rider)
My buddy and I decided to start from the beginning and work our way forward last year. We are currently about to start Kamen Rider Kabuto! I would personally recommend going in chronological order if you just wanna "watch Kamen Rider". (as in, you've heard of the series in general and wanna check it out) It's awesome watching the shows change from season to season, era to era. That said: Watch Black if you want a great, moody "monster of the week". Watch Kuuga for a fucking classic solid Kamen Rider series. For something dramatic watch Ryuki or Blade. And for something light and sweet I would recommend Hibiki (but only the first 30)
I've loved Kamen RIder from the first five minutes I saw my first season, Decade. Me personally though, I always love to recommend Double. Its episodic while still having an over arching story, as you said the characters are all fun and memorable, and the music just rocks so much! (oh yeah, the action is pretty good too I guess lol)
To me honestly I chose the shows that either had a great suit or cool concept. Cause for me, the first series that I’ve seen and still enjoy is kiva. Kiva follows a shut-in with a strange, unexplored past that he tries to find due to recently seeing he is human. This is taboo, as he has the powered materials of the being kiva, a powerful suit given to the king of Fangires; which are essentially family friendly vampires. This also follows the main characters father and the events of led up to the present day, and how there connected. A lot of people don’t necessarily like this one, as it has its problems and is a required taste. But I’d say give it a chance as it has some great emotional moments and some very funny yet slapstick humor at some points. How about some cards with Blade? This follows the story of two riders known as Blade and Garren, who are sent to seal undead warriors of a forgotten time in order to gain there abilities. While this is happening, there is also a lone rider known as chalice and as the show goes on; we soon learn about truth around him and the significance behind the broken seal on the deck in the first place. It’s slow at first, but It has some very significant action and scenes that I would say is some of the best in kamen rider. With some story events that makes both the characters and the audience ask was it worth it in the first place. Now how about a movie? Sure you may not be a fan of showa but I would still recommend ZX. It’s essentially a legacy movie telling the tale of the 10th kamen rider and his fight against typical Showa villains. I always debate in my mind if I like or dislike this movie but I always enjoy watching through it and enjoying the main character Ryo Murasame being one of my favorites in the first place.
My Introduction to Kamen Rider was Dragon Knight back when it aired on the CW4kids. I remember when it finished I went and looked up Kamen Rider and found Decade so I started there for the Japanese series. It got me interested in other seasons mostly Kiva, and Den-O. I honestly agree with the go what looks cool mentality. Because of that I tried Kiva before seeing any other opinions on it and loved it. But if I had to give my own opinion on what series to try first. Either OOOs, W, Frouze, or Den-O. I feel those are the most fun seasons with the right amount of drama to go with their fun. To be fair I have only really gotten to see a hand full of riders since it's been hard to find out how to watch the other ones after Wizard for me. I'm just now getting a chance to see Kuuga.
I pretty much had mostly the same experience getting into the franchise. Cept I was originally a little more keen on the Showa seasons, and the first full season I watched was Gaim. I'd also add maybe Build to the list of starter seasons, and ZO (even if that's a movie and not a full TV show)
and if you happen to watch a season you don't like, remember not every season is like that one. Don't say you hate Kamen Rider because of one bad season or experience. Every season has something unique to offer and every rider is loveable in their own right. If you start watching one and don't like it, you can always try another season. Not everyone likes every season, I have a few seasons people recommended me That I just don't like and never finished, and that's okay.
Gaim is one of my favorites so far with the fruit sengoku armored riders and the pocket universe accessible with dimensionnal zippers , it was very fun to watch
Make sure you get the complete Kamen Rider 01 Bluray box set from Shout Factory. Sales from the set will determine if we get future set releases. So please show your support
For me I recommend KR hibiki it has a great cast of characters and a motivational feel to it (at least until it’s second half) but if you like the suits and motif I suggest Ghost
I would argue that there are four Kamen Rider eras; Showa, Heisei, Neo Heisei, and Reiwa. Neo Heisei started with W and marked the start of the practice of being mainly focused on the fight between good and evil, and not being primarily focused on the side drama of unrelated characters. There is some drama of unrelated characters in the Neo Heisei era. But not to the extent that there was before the start of W.
I cut my teeth on V3 when I lived in Hawaii as a kid; and to this day he's my favorite Rider. Considering that Kamen Rider is six months older than I am, we BOTH turn 50 next year, I didn't mean I watched it on VHS.
I grew up watching mainly Showa and some early Heisei era Kamen Riders and mainly due to my parents. Like I always remember going to the markets in Thailand when I went during the summer to buy various disc sets of Kamen Rider
Kuuga : A great start from the hiatus Agito : Now THIS is a sequel Ryuki : Battle Royale but Kamen Rider, my top 5 fav Heisei Rider Faiz : Buckload of drama, but I LOVE IT~ My top 5 fav Blade : TACHIBANA-SAN!!! Hibiki : Highschool Musical done wrong, messy from the start, bearable until the middle part, but toward the end is even messier(I mean... From Metal Hero to Kamen Rider? And change all of the staffs in the middle of the show & ended up creating more continuity fvcked ups? My top 3 worst Heisei Rider) Kabuto : Good drama, memorable casts, cool concept. Obaa-chan ga itteita Den-O : Super Family Friendly Kamen Rider, TOEI's golden child Kiva : 1 of the most complicated in term of story... I mean, 2 timelines, no wonder Japanese fans are not into this & put this as 1 of the worst(For me, not the worst. There are 4 that are WAY worse than Kiva) Decade : ONORE DIKEIDOOOOO!!!!! It is fun to watch because of Tsukasa, but definitely Anniversary Season Done Wrong because of the "Alternate Rider". On top of that, the ending... Wait, what ending? Welp, my top 3 worst W : Detective drama, blend with nice humor & cool action, my top 5 fav OOO : A great follow-up after W, nice story too, also Mezool
1:52 Kiva is my favorite because it had a good lesson but even tho it was slow and disappointed it was a great show and the main reason for my nickname and the reason I love Kamen Rider.
I started watching Kamen Rider for the first time two weeks ago. I started with Kuga and plan to watch each season in order if I can. So far Kuga has been really enjoyable. ✨✨✨
My personal first Rider and the one I'd probably recommend as the easiest to get into is Kuuga just because it's on english streaming sites, I've tried watching other seasons but I don't really know where to watch them
I really recommend build, it is a great introduction for heisei phase 2 even though it is the second to last season of this phase. It just has the same feel as w, ooo and fourze
Kamen Rider Fourze is literally the one to go to if you're craving for something similar or reminiscent of anime. The main Kamen Rider character is LITERALLY POWERED by freindship and love. Plus, it's light-hearted and high-school setting will make sure even the youngest of fans can appreciate the show. Don't get me wrong, the characterization is great, stories are quite intriguing, the drama between each character feels real and we can truly see how each character grow out of their pre-determined High School clique shell and do their own part in saving the whole universe from the evil monsters Highly recommend if you crabe something more light-hearted yet dramatic enough and it takes its concept seriously. Also it features outer space, who doesn't like space?
Den-O is the absolute Thai people’s favorite. Mine is Kabuto since I started watch TV because of Kabuto (In my childhood I prefer reading more and never watch TV again after I can’t watch Kabuto on TV anymore) It’s me on 19 watching Kamen Riders and jump into the fandom for no reason (not really, I came to the fandom because of Climax Jump on D4DJ’s cover)
Nice video! Maybe you should have mentionned that Ichigo, Kuuga and Shin are all legally available with English subtitles? Or even mention Amazons on Amazon Prime.
My favorite season is Blade but I recommend others to start with Kuuga and then they decide whether they want to go back to older seasons or move forwards
I really needed this, I grew up with Power rangers then found out about Super Sentai, then I saw the Kamen riders in some crossovers now I am just binging Kaman Riders
I started with Den-O and I would eagerly recommend it to anyone starting out because, as I learned after I started, it's very popular and its cast regularly appears in new movies. Also, if you're coming from super sentai or power rangers, it's a good transition from those sorts of shows.
Big recommend for ReVice, since that wasn't out when this video was made. It has a touching and dramatic story with one of the best heel-face turns I've ever seen.
“Be inclusive and dont tell others to avoid a season” *Shows Ghost Season*
Protodubs: HERESY
And wizard
we dont talk about that season
Ghost and wizard boils down to Takeru and haruto tho...
Would rather re-watch Wizard a 3rd time before Ghost again. Sure Ghost wasn't as bad as the first time through but it still felt like a slog on re-watch for me.
This has been the most wholesome recommendation ever. No hate towards other seasons, no bashing, just a nice explanation and a "you do you" message.
Except you're literally wrong if you watch any other season than Black
@@austematicthatragic4352why 仮面ライダーBLACK
It´s great that marcos made another Introduction to Kamen rider, because the history of KR dragon knight and the first introduction of KR is the reason i started watching toku.
Honestly, I'd recommend Zero One to anyone just getting into Kamen Rider since its a good enough introduction to the series while being fairly recent. Then Ex Aid since the beginning few episodes do a good job with pacing and establishing people
I have been looking for answers to this question for MONTHS
Which website do you watch zero one and zio on? Please.
I seen some people say it’s their first rider after all and enjoy it a lot
Brave-Ent
Hey quick question:
Are most of the Kamen Rider series in the same universe?
Me trying to get into kamen rider: HOW MANY OF THESE PEOPLE ARE THERE ?
How many are there? All of them
Kinda hard to top the “watch what looks cool to you.” advice. It’s solid and pretty straight to the point
You count the medals
One two and three!
Life goes on
anything goes
COMIN UP OOO
5:24 Kamen Rider & Ultraman Cross over? All I need is Sentai to join in and it'll be perfect
Add metal hero to this is gonna be perfect.
There's a whole game series of Rider & Ultra + Gundam
Zetssu0 well that something new
ShadowHand Riders with Sentai, Ultramen and Metal Heroes would be the greatest crossover come true
idk man, but in my experience, i cringed a lot when other series appears in kamen rider.
I think the characters will really appeal to anyone coming from an anime background, the editing is also really energetic and keeps up with the cartoony comedy style the writing has on the more casual moments
It's also a really dark season!
Kamen Rider Amazons for dark and gritty storyline and gory action
The original kamen rider Amazon already has three contrasting manga adaptations, one by Ishinomori (as the writer) and Morihiko Ishikawa (as the artist of Sherlock Holmes manga fame) that is played for body horror but unluckily incomplete (to this day) thanks to Toei’s then agitating push to make the Kamen Rider Stronger show, the more comedic but still incomplete one by Tsuchiyama and the more complete one by Mitsuru Sugaya of Game Center Arashi fame, which is played for dark comedy like its Toku counterpart.
And a lot of blood
I also heard faiz was dark
This vid is what made me got into Kamen Rider and tokusatsu as a whole back in October 2020 and it's been my latest obsession ever since. I also got one of my friends into tokusatsu and now he's also obsessed with it THANK YOU SO MUCH MARCOSATSU FOR THIS VID!
exaid all time favorite season with decade behind it. dont judge me.
I respect your bravery. (And I actually like Decade)
It had the best V-Cinemas as of now.
Ex-Aid is a good show anyway.
I also like decade.. Ex Aid is so amazing
Don’t worry I like Decade too
What a fun video to work on. Thanks again for the opportunity, Marcos!
Heres my piece on the matter
Id most likely recommend
1) Kamen rider Gaim: an excellent season with some genuinely amazing characters, it looks a little silly but trust me, things get serious quick
2) Kamen rider Zero-one: the first series of Reiwa brings alot to the table. Love-able characters, awesome suits, a great story, and some real heartfelt moments
3) Kamen rider Decade: Not my style personally but it is a beloved series in the fandom. With an amazing lead character, genuinely funny moments and an interesting story, this series is s good watch
4) Lastly I would recommend Kamen rider Build: This series made me laugh, cry and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. This series features an amazing cast of characters, a fantastic plot, some of the coolest suits in rider, and an amazing soundtrack. This series is a must watch!
Thank you for this. You have no idea how much your comments has helped and change my life
Here you are, making a new version of your introduction to kamen rider video, while here I am, patiently waiting for that history of gaim series. But still, great video 👍
I constantly recommend Build. It's stylish, fun, and has a gripping plot that made me keep hitting next episode
Den-O is hands down my favorite season of all time. This was the beginning of the funny jokes and gags that Kamen riders get to play with these days.
Also! W is a great place to start if you’re interested in unraveling the sub plots of the series!
den-o and w are my all time favorites
Started with Ex-Aid earlier this year whilst taking it slowly and its genuinely been an amazing series that continues to one up itself in both storytelling and action. Can't wait to explore more of the franchise.
*People from 5 years into the future* : "Why can't you recommend any more Reiwa series? Huh? What's wrong with Reiwa?" lol
My favorite series are always going to be Wizard and Decade.
FKing hilarious because that variant was played by a mixed race guy whose alias was Enrique Sakamoto!
i like wizard too not a big fan of decade though
The best starter seasons for heisei imo are Kuuga or OOO, both are super strong stand alone stories that can get basically anyone hooked.
I've been bouncing around the franchise history
So far my personal favorite is Kuuga, I love the character relations and touches of Drama mixed in, helps to ground things a little and makes it feel like one long adventure as oppose to the more episodic nature of the Showa era.
Black also has a very good story, the connection between Black and Shadow Moon adds a tragic element, and on a personal note, Black is my favorite Kamen Rider design currently
The original is just plain fun, each episode is like a 20 minute B-movie with rubber suited monsters and the evil Shocker organization, I highly recommend checking out at least a bit of it
My entire knowledge of Kamen Rider is seeing the Masked Rider on Power Rangers and seeing a trailer for Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight once.
Build was the first season i got in to and man does it hook you for a story plus the cast is just amazing lol
Showa, heisei, Reiwa. Hopes kamen rider will last forever
Im recently taking interest into Kamen Rider, i first watched Shin Kamen Rider and now im in love with the franchise and cant get enough.
I started getting into this, just for Shin Kamen Rider
I just finished watching Zero One and I highly recommend it. When I saw the trailer for it, I was kinda hesitant about it because of the suit design. But my mind changed after eventually deciding to watch it. I genuinely believe the best henshin sounds are from this show. The characters are great and the story is really interesting. Go check it out!

I started with kamen rider gaim due to the fact that the same writer behind madoka magica, fate/zero, psycho pass, etc was working on it. And I was not disappointed in the least with it. And that series got me to check other kamen riders out
Personal fav is tied between Ex-Aid and Den-O, I suggest starting with either of those, or Double
Build is what really got me into Kamen Rider
My brother got me into kamen rider. He showed me Deno but my favourite is kiva at the start. My favourite is now Kabuto. I have watched all heisei and onwards but I want to watch more showa but it's great overall
This was a fantastic overview
I started with gaim then watched build zero one and OOO now I’m watching W it’s been a fun ride so far
Well good to know I can start at any point, also at 5:26, is that Jet Jaguar from the Godzilla movies?, well I think I know where to start now!
I will always recommend Kiva. It's pretty formulaic and I think it can be an easy series to handle once you understand what goes on when the timeframe switches.
It's all so good, I started with W because of your first video!
"You could start anywhere without watching anything prior."
I watched showa episode 1 season 1, but then I later actually started with Double, and when i got to one the movies i was lost and confused through half of it because I didn't watch Decade first.
Ex-aid and W are my favorite seasons so far.
I would personally recommend Amazon riders to the ppl who wanna get into kamen rider but don't know where to start as it is a storyline which takes place in an alternate timeline. It's really good for ppl who like dark , gory , ragged up , gripping story
I dont think that is beginner friendly
@@eavyeavy2864 well it was what I started the kamen rider series with. But I see your point
My brother Jadon and I watched it on Amazon Prime in Spain.
Ask anyone from the 80’s in Brazil about kamen Rider and the answer will always be the same. Kamen Rider Black from 87. The opening theme along still gives me goosebumps 35 years later.
My recommendations based on eras:
-For Showa, Kamen Rider Black, since it's one of the latest Showa Seasons, and is well loved.
For other recommendations on more unique cases:
-If you're a fan of anime, try Kamen Rider Fourze.
Cheers!
i just started Kamen rider and im starting on zero one, im loving it
okay so let me tell you about kamen
00:03
rider
00:04
with this franchise being nearly 50
00:06
years old alongside having over 30
00:08
seasons plus
00:09
movies specials and crossovers it may
00:12
seem overwhelming at first but that's
00:13
what this video is for
00:15
starting with the basics there are three
00:17
arrows of kamen rider
00:18
the showa era from 1971's kamen rider
00:22
also referred to as ichigo
00:23
to the theatrical kamen rider j the
00:26
heisei era
00:28
from 2000's kamen rider kuga to 2019's
00:31
kamen rider geo
00:32
and the rewa era from 2019's kamen rider
00:36
zero 1
00:36
onward aside from being easily
00:39
organizable
00:40
each era has its own style that can
00:41
appeal to anyone
00:43
but where do you start each season is
00:45
standalone for the most part so you can
00:47
really begin anywhere
00:48
kamen riders do appear a lot more
00:50
together during a showa era season
00:52
while the heisei era has crossovers
00:54
during movies but again
00:56
you can basically start anywhere without
00:58
worrying about watching anything prior
01:00
now what to watch specifically the
01:02
absolute main
01:04
number one thing i always recommend is
01:07
whatever looks cool to you did you grow
01:10
up with older monster movies and enjoy
01:12
the classic feel of the showa era
01:14
do you like a more modern look with the
01:16
rewa era maybe you like the drama of
01:18
early heisei
01:19
or the visual style of heisei's later
01:21
half does a particular suit stand out to
01:24
you
01:24
what about the motif have you ever come
01:27
across a cool clip and wanted to watch
01:29
where it came from
01:30
honestly whatever interest and appeals
01:32
to you is an easy start
01:34
especially since i think any season can
01:36
appeal to generally anyone
01:38
every season has a great cast wonderful
01:40
stories to be invested in
01:42
and of course fantastic action i'd
01:45
advise against avoiding seasons just
01:47
because someone else didn't like it
01:50
who knows maybe it could become your
01:51
favorite everyone has their own opinion
01:54
so please enjoy what you want although
01:57
if you're still stuck on what to watch
01:59
then here are a few seasons i can
02:00
recommend
02:01
kamen rider double o's and fours they
02:03
are the first three seasons of what's
02:05
known as heisei phase 2
02:06
or neo-heisei they're the easiest to get
02:09
into since they're episodic while having
02:11
overarching mysteries that keep you
02:13
saying
02:14
just one more episode you might be
02:17
interested in doubles detective stories
02:18
that has two people become one kamen
02:20
writer
02:21
or the story of a wanderer who teams up
02:23
with the monster to fight the
02:25
manifestation of human desires and kamen
02:27
rider o's
02:28
or a high schooler who juggles class and
02:30
making friends with absolutely everyone
02:32
while fighting monsters along the way
02:34
with kamen rider fourze
02:36
there's a lot to love with these three
02:38
especially their cast and their
02:40
heartfelt journeys
02:41
having cool suits helps too earlier when
02:44
i said that
02:44
each era has their own style that can
02:46
also apply to the heisei era's early and
02:49
later halves
02:50
often referred to as heisei phase 1 and
02:52
phase 2.
02:53
early heisei has more of a dramatic and
02:56
serious tone compared to the later half
02:58
but that's not to say phase 2 can't be
03:00
serious either
03:01
kamen rider kuuga might be the closest
03:03
to a j drama as it follows a lone writer
03:05
fighting human-like monsters that are
03:07
trying to play
03:08
deadly games it's a slower paced season
03:10
but those quieter moments make you enjoy
03:12
the little things
03:13
like a thumbs up from our hero another
03:16
easy recommendation is kamen rider den o
03:19
where an accident prone young man is
03:20
thrust into a time traveling train as he
03:22
makes friends with monsters
03:24
while going through touching moments
03:25
that i haven't experienced anywhere else
03:28
of course i'm not going over every
03:30
single season
03:31
these five are just the easiest i can
03:33
recommend to you for heisei
03:35
as for rawa then the next thing i can
03:37
say is to watch any current season
03:41
yeah that's it showa era is just a fun
03:44
time
03:44
ichigo's cheesy yet sincere
03:46
episodic-ness is great
03:48
kamen rider stronger has some classic
03:50
action kamen rider black and black rx
03:52
are well regarded by having great
03:54
stories to follow
03:55
komen rider 0 is a movie you can just
03:57
sit down and enjoy with touching
03:59
characters
04:00
these may be older than some are used to
04:02
but they shouldn't be skipped
04:04
or at the very least appreciate how far
04:06
we've come with the franchise
04:08
oh yeah there are a few outliers i want
04:11
to bring up as you continue your writer
04:13
journey there was an american adaptation
04:15
of kamen rider ryuky called kamen rider
04:17
dragon knight
04:18
i personally really loved it since it
04:20
still feels like a kamen rider season
04:22
with great characters story certain
04:24
tropes and action
04:26
just with english actors it's very
04:28
unique especially compared to its
04:30
japanese counterpart
04:32
and there is another american adaptation
04:35
called saban's masked rider
04:38
we don't talk about that one the last
04:41
time i want to bring
04:42
up our anniversary seasons komen rider
04:44
decade and konrider geo for heisei phase
04:46
1 and 2 respectively
04:48
i did say you can start anywhere while
04:50
these aren't
04:51
major exceptions you should take these
04:53
with caution anyway
04:55
mostly with konrider geo decade has a
04:58
couple cameos from previous writers
05:00
but he travels through alternate
05:01
versions of past rider season so in a
05:03
way
05:04
it's like a small taste of them on the
05:06
other hand
05:07
jio has cameos galore and brings up a
05:10
lot of past events
05:12
some of which kind of expect you to know
05:15
again you can watch these anniversary
05:18
seasons
05:19
just be wary of them with all that being
05:21
said
05:22
there is so much i didn't bring up since
05:24
these are my personal recommendations
05:26
you can start your khan writer journey
05:28
anywhere you like and i think you'll
05:30
enjoy this karate bug man series
05:32
if there's anything you're interested in
05:34
then let me know and to those who are
05:36
already fans then talk about your
05:38
recommendations too
05:39
just remember to be inclusive and don't
05:42
tell anyone to avoid any certain season
05:45
see you next time
if u like a more serious tone and drama, start with the first 5 Heisei Riders: Kuuga, Agito, Ryuki, Faiz, Blade.
And for something light and sweet I would recommend Hibiki (but only the first 30)
The best early Heisei Kamen Rider season was Futari Wa Precure
Time to watch Build and then start watching from the first season
I'd also add maybe Build to the list of starter seasons, and ZO (even if that's a movie and not a full TV show)
Ex-Aid was the reason that bought me to the kamen rider fandom and i still love the show about it!
Saban's Masked Rider: appears
Me: What blasphemy is this? Who invited him?
and if you happen to watch a season you don't like, remember not every season is like that one.
"...and don't tell anyone to avoid any certain season"
*Show up Ore Wa Tenkuji Takeru
I see what you did there
For me I recommend KR hibiki it has a great cast of characters and a motivational feel to it (at least until it’s second half) but if you like the suits and motif I suggest Ghost
Idk why, but Ryuki is my all time favorite season.
Same, it ain't perfect but it's the one that captivated me the most for some reason
Also for slight nostalgia for its adaptation
I grew up watching mainly Showa and some early Heisei era Kamen Riders and mainly due to my parents. Like I always remember going to the markets in Thailand when I went during the summer to buy various disc sets of Kamen Rider
Kuuga : A great start from the hiatus
Agito : Now THIS is a sequel
Ryuki : Battle Royale but Kamen Rider, my top 5 fav Heisei Rider
Faiz : Buckload of drama, but I LOVE IT~ My top 5 fav
Blade : TACHIBANA-SAN!!!
Hibiki : Highschool Musical done wrong, messy from the start, bearable until the middle part, but toward the end is even messier(I mean... From Metal Hero to Kamen Rider? And change all of the staffs in the middle of the show & ended up creating more continuity fvcked ups? My top 3 worst Heisei Rider)
Kabuto : Good drama, memorable casts, cool concept. Obaa-chan ga itteita
Den-O : Super Family Friendly Kamen Rider, TOEI's golden child
Kiva : 1 of the most complicated in term of story... I mean, 2 timelines, no wonder Japanese fans are not into this & put this as 1 of the worst(For me, not the worst. There are 4 that are WAY worse than Kiva)
Decade : ONORE DIKEIDOOOOO!!!!! It is fun to watch because of Tsukasa, but definitely Anniversary Season Done Wrong because of the "Alternate Rider". On top of that, the ending... Wait, what ending? Welp, my top 3 worst
W : Detective drama, blend with nice humor & cool action, my top 5 fav
OOO : A great follow-up after W, nice story too, also Mezool
1:52 Kiva is my favorite because it had a good lesson but even tho it was slow and disappointed it was a great show and the main reason for my nickname and the reason I love Kamen Rider.
I started watching Kamen Rider for the first time two weeks ago. I started with Kuga and plan to watch each season in order if I can. So far Kuga has been really enjoyable. ✨✨✨
I like how when he tells people to NOT to tell others to avoid a season he shows a clip from Ghost
Don't get me wrong, the characterization is great, stories are quite intriguing, the drama between each character feels real and we can truly see how each character grow out of their pre-determined High School clique shell and do their own part in saving the whole universe from the evil monsters
Highly recommend if you crabe something more light-hearted yet dramatic enough and it takes its concept seriously. Also it features outer space, who doesn't like space?
Den-O is the absolute Thai people’s favorite. Mine is Kabuto since I started watch TV because of Kabuto (In my childhood I prefer reading more and never watch TV again after I can’t watch Kabuto on TV anymore)
It’s me on 19 watching Kamen Riders and jump into the fandom for no reason (not really, I came to the fandom because of Climax Jump on D4DJ’s cover)
Nice video! Maybe you should have mentionned that Ichigo, Kuuga and Shin are all legally available with English subtitles? Or even mention Amazons on Amazon Prime.
i really loved zio. the cast, suits, themes, the ending. BEST in my opinion. no spoilers here. i think every season is great.
Build is amazing had me laughing and excited
I was a fan of super sentai during the early 2000. Then I came across a CD of kamen rider ryuki ep1 and thought "wow this shit is dark, and I love it"
I like how everytime he says not to advice against a show he shows ghost X3
I highly would recommend Kuuga, Agito and Faiz. Some of the best storytelling I’ve ever seen
My favorite season is Blade but I recommend others to start with Kuuga and then they decide whether they want to go back to older seasons or move forwards
bug eyed henshin warriors for life!
I jumped on it with Build and would recommend it to anyone. It's way too much fun and the mystery is great. I never did finish it though.
I really needed this, I grew up with Power rangers then found out about Super Sentai, then I saw the Kamen riders in some crossovers now I am just binging Kaman Riders
1st fav: Build
2nd fav: Fourze
1st season I’ve watched: Kabuto English dub (Malaysian Dub) can’t find dub anywhere anymore though
@Jeffery Tang there is thing called opinion
No doubts starting reiwa era
I started with Den-O and I would eagerly recommend it to anyone starting out because, as I learned after I started, it's very popular and its cast regularly appears in new movies. Also, if you're coming from super sentai or power rangers, it's a good transition from those sorts of shows.
Big recommend for ReVice, since that wasn't out when this video was made. It has a touching and dramatic story with one of the best heel-face turns I've ever seen.
I love all Kamen rider series honestly I could never hate it don't know why it's just holds a special place in my heart ❤️
