I agree! I remember I first clicked on her first video out of curiosity and now I’m so glad I did because her videos help me out so much and I just thoroughly enjoy watching them anyway :D
Im a stay at home mom, and even though I have nowhere to go, I feel like when I get ready my mood is better and I don’t feel so gloomy. It really makes a difference. A lady is a lady no matter where you are!
Not sure whom I watched, but she said something that stuck with me. Even as a stay at home mom, minding kids is your job. Dress like you would for work. You wouldn't go to work in sweat pants. Even if minding another person's child you'd still want to look presentable. Dress for the job. I have yet to change my mindset as well, but I'm slowly getting there as I'm working on changing my wardrobe and dressing better at home as well just to feel good in my own skin. I found out I hate jeans at home. Very uncomfortable especially when cleaning, so I'll be changing that to trousers.
Wow, this was an eye opener. I dress like a million dollars when I leave my house. However, when I’m at home, I dress like a homeless lady.😂 Thank you for changing my perspective. I just now ordered feminine loungewear & cute nightgowns opposed to my stretch pants & t-shirts.😒
Honestly, I used to wear old, oversized commercial t-shirts to bed. Even though I woke up every morning, glimpsed myself in the mirror and though: "Ugh. I look like crap. This is the most unattractive thing I have seen - and this is me!" After watching some of Anna's other videos, I decided to go through my closet and sort out these old t-shirts and wash some of my finer nightwear (which I had laying around but never actually used). I felt amazing every night going to bed and every morning getting up wearing these things. Not feeling sloppy in my outfit even provided me with more energy. After about a week, my partner turned to me and said: "You know. I really like watching you in this new nightwear. Please tell me you have thrown out the old t-shirts!" Ladies, listen to Anna. It makes a huge difference what you wear at home. Both for your energy, how you feel and for your partner.
Thank you. There's too many haters in the comment section. And ppl if you're on a budget you don't have to go for 100% silk and cashmere materials. Get the lower end stuff just make sure u look well put together. If you don't want to let go of clothes because of emotional attachment, there are videos on yt on crafting. Im planning on framing this oversized shirt that I will NEVER throw out but would make Anna act unlady like towards me if she ever saw me in it 😂😂😂 just kidding guys, Anna is never unladylike
Get something that feels very good. I got a nice soft oversized flannel for winter, I love it so much, keeps me warm down to the toes. It doesn’t need to be super fancy but nice. Mine is plaid and I LOVE it. ( for cold weather) I’m not slim so I think silk would rip while sleeping ( I’m not concerned with wrinkles as much as tearing)
A tip for matching sets: remember to wash the bottoms with the tops, otherwise they will fade at different rates and the bottoms will likely end up darker.
I do have to say, I was curious to see if my fiancé would notice me changing my night clothes from old oversized t shirts into something more feminine. I ordered silk chemises and cami/short sets with lace detailing and lace and chiffon robes and he instantly noticed. Without me saying anything, he asked when I got it and played with my robe sash and said, “well I really like it.” So, listen to her ladies! My partner is a blue collar working man and still appreciates the finer things on me at night. I can say, I’m a registered nurse and there is nothing better than coming home and taking off my terrible scrubs and coming out of a hot shower to put on some silk and lace, completely worth the money
They do notice a lot more than we realize! If I'm in something super frumpy he always checks if I'm okay, and says "go put something nice on, it always males you feel better" x
@Jen MYK Silk has the basic 100% mulberry silk pajama sets for 55$ (Lily is 135$) with free shipping over 50$. They also have some very basic silk chemise for 99$ (22 momme) along with robes, camisole tops($28), etc. I understand that Lily has way more options, colors, etc but if you are on a budget MYK silk has affordable luxury sleepwear at amazing prices. They start at 19 momme silk and go up from there. Have fun!
My mother always emphasized to us to look made up even when at home. She always told us to look like a lady even when lounging at the house. So many things she taught us that you teach in your videos..
totally oppposite to mine. My mother always told me to wear clothes (at home) that are not expensive and old. They might've been washed out, but she didn't care. It was about saving money . And she usually repeated to me "who's gonna see you at home?'.
Unfortunately my Mom taught me and my siblings very little. I was 19 years old before someone taught me how to properly cut meat. I was mortified and thought about all the un-etiquette things I did. She worked as a waitress in a very high class country club and you think she would have picked up on it and taught us. She was a good Mom, though.
I’m a man and I watched your videos a few times and you’ve encouraged me to step up my Masculine elegance. Like the southern gentleman I am. Also will you do a video about Looking proper and country settings
I agree. Unfortunately do not practice as I should. There is an older lady in my town who still runs a antique business from her home even though she is in her 80s. She is a classic southern lady. She is always “ company ready”. And always gracious.
Our mothers taught us to dress poorly at home. At least, mine did. She taught me to take off my nicer clothes at home. As to preserve them and not dirty them. And to wear old clothes at home to work around or lounge around the house in. This was to save money and time in washing and iron. And to give nicer clothes a longer life.
I’m late but I was brought up this way too. We had our good school clothes and then our play clothes. Even my nicer lounge clothes I take off when I get home.
I started dressing acceptable at home and it has honestly increased my self respect! After all, every time you pass a mirror you are still evaluating what you see in front of yourself. 😌😊 Thanks Anna for this idea!
I think many were taught that you save your nicer stuff to go out in public & at home you can where the older worn things. It's probably about being frugal. I definitely think a beautiful woman can where just about anything & still have her beauty radiate from the inside out. Especially if you are in shoulder to shoulder activity with your man. Like watching him fix a car, fishing etc
A couple of years ago, on the advice of Florence Scovel Shinn (LOA GODDESS), I decided to discard any clothes that made me feel poor. Now I only wear clothing, especially at home, that makes me feel luxe & beautiful. I also put on my jewelry, style my hair and wear perfume. EVERYDAY. Yes it's high maintenance and I deserve it. I radiate femininity. I aspire to be the kind of woman who has her life so in harmony that she greets you at her door in a Ralph Lauren dress, now that's an elegant lady.
@@rivkastrom6685 is there a huge difference? Just wondering? I'm on a budget so most time I shop at Ralph Lauren outlets and every now and then Macy or online.
I love this! 🥰 My mother always taught me to be presentable inside the home. Even if we were of humble means, we still made sure to have well ironed sets of home clothes for winter and summer. In my opinion, it’s not about vanity. It’s more about discipline. When you take pride in the way you dress, that almost sets the tone for the day. It has an impact on the way you feel and how productive you are; just like waking up early, exercising and having a scheduled routine. It’s part of it all.
Me too. Always look presentable especially when you come to the dining table. Till today I wash up, clean my face and comb my hair before sitting down to eat. Lol!!
I am almost 59 years old and I am definitely guilty of wearing t shirts and worn out pajama bottoms around the house. When I was young I only wore silk pajamas and little silky slips to bed. Three kids later and I usually hit the bed in yoga pants and a t shirt. You have inspired to get rid of all of my bleach marked tops and years old pajama bottoms and to get a few nice things that I can walk around in front of my grown children and feel covered and classy.
Shedding the faded house dresses, tattered pajamas and sweats is really lifting my spirits. Pulling my look together distracts a bit from the difficult realities of physical isolation. Every time I looked down or passed a mirror, the sight of my frumpwear had been compounding the depression and anxiety I already felt. Who needed that? Not me! Also, as I video chat with friends, I've noticed that my improved appearance provides a positive experience--and example--for them. So, wins all around! Thanks for the video.
Mass Fractal I couldn’t concur with you more! You NAILED it! What’s funny is that at 5:47, she’s wearing palazzo pants- living in Miami, I ADORE long, loose, boot cut ‘pants’ (more like the bottoms from La Linge NYC) at home & out and about. This is the second video I’ve seen on this channel and so far, I’m enjoying it! Quite eager to see more of her content! Love & Light from Miami ✨✌🏼 Stay safe
I am so impressed 😮 Today I woke up and I decided I had to throw everything that made me look cheap and vulgar and I just kept few clothes that make me feel like an elegant lady. I just finished throwing everything and BAAAM! Your video is here! This is a sign that life wants me to be ELEGANT! ✨
My problem is I want this huge wardrobe like the housewives and I end up with a lot of what the hell did I buy this for. I will challenge myself to get rid of the "what the hells' and get quality clothing in my wardrobe. Less is more !
Girl just binge watch her. She is so smart with this. There is also @alexandragirlytalk, particulary her video "the art of sexy". They both have amazing inovative tips
I love this channel. There's no need to keep up with the latest trends if they don't look good on you. Keep those classic pieces and incorporate new pieces that look good on you. I love how ladies dressed long ago. So classy, elegant and feminine. Thank you for your videos❤
As a stay at home mum with 2 very young children I often lost my temper and raised my voice at my husband or children. But when I started wearing nice house dresses and little bit makeup and nice hairdo- I’m can be calm and relaxed so much longer. Any time I see myself in the mirror or reflection I feel like a million bucks- like a lady and I started acting like one all the time! :)
This is sooo true! As a mom with small kids, you can easily feel invisible for adults (and sometimes for kids). But I too have found that dressing up in the home can be uplifting for my mood. I even have this weird thing when I dress up and put on nice shoes (with heels) when I need to clean and be in the house longer in a day. It just makes me feel better when I have menial tasks to do!
You dressed as the women you wanted to be and that is so commendable! I’m in that same phase in life right now 2 small kids and I’m feeling so much better now that I care for myself better
It makes sense that as women we feel better when we feel beautiful. And when we feel better we also act better. Self care is not compromisable for a woman. We need that little time to pamper ourselves. When we feel beautiful we are also more likely to want to be more intimate with our man. I certainly do not want intimacy when I feel worn down and overall messy. When I'm good with me I'm automatically good with others.
Great point! I’m a mom of 3 month 4 and 5 year old boys and I’ve had to do most of the raising was yelling and scolding but I think this tip can go a far way, before kids took care of myself so much but now I can barely 😥 have nails done but this tip I think can be a game changer from the video and from an actual mom because it’s one thing to be without kids and another having to raise kids 100 percent of the time and mostly on your own. ❤
I saw this video and immediately cleared my closet of oversized printed tees. I put on a plain fitted tee and nice long pants...and my companion complimented me 2 times in the evening! It was nothing new that I purchased, I just paid attention to what I was wearing and it helped me feel better about myself. Thank you!
I’m definitely leveling up my lounge wear, ladies we deserve to look and feel luxurious for ourselves too. But, I’m turning all my old clothes into quilts. My great great great grandma started our family’s quilting tradition by using worn out clothes (because she was very poor, she also made her kids clothes out of cloth grain sacks, she’d sun bleach the supplier stamp off of them and dye them with plants) and the tradition has just continued on that way. I prefer it to buying fabrics because it’s more environmentally friendly and it’s wonderful to have these gorgeous blankets in the family what were once cherished clothing pieces of my ancestors. I inherited an award winning quilt from my great great grandmother that she hand stitched out of old sheets and a house dress.
This is the best comment I've seen here. Doing something useful out of old fabrics and keeping a tradition alive. I don't know how to quilt, but you've inspired me to research. I don't throw anything away out of guilt (throwing clothes to landfill, gaining weight in the pandemic, or simply, If I bought something and looks old, it is my own fault for not taking more care while shopping. Also, I dye and repair everything as much as I can, as my gran would. She barely had money to buy clothes). Being Latin in a northern European country, for me, makes me always feel cold. So I can never wear trendy fashions. Always wearing jumpers, sweatshirts, jackets and jeans, even in the summer. And it is so frustrating not being able to show a nice collarbone, or arms in general because I'm cold. Which leads to not fitting in, feeling frumpy. Gosh! Don't know where all that came from, but I guess it need to be out. But I hope I find one day a fairy God mother who will understand and lead me to take care of myself and the planet.
Do you quilt with a machine or by hand. Also I suspect you have to make sure to keep same fabrics together? Say denim with Rayon? I am asking sincerely.
How interesting! I even searched for the word "quilt" , since I did not know its meaning. There are si many things than can be done with old clothes , especially jeans. Some people do school bags for poor kids in África. I mean, as long, as the cloth can be used of course
This video seriously changed my life. Sent it to all my sisters and girlfriends. I literally never thought of that before, if you spend most of your time at home, that’s where most of your wardrobe budget should be. Seems so obvious now! 🤦🏻♀️
Anna: "Adults take responsibility for their appearance and they make an effort!" Me wearing my old, stained, mens scooby-doo shirt and cut off fuzzy pajamas: "You tell em girl!"
I took your advice, and I donated all my old and animated clothes. My closet is sightly smaller, but it feels good not having childish clothes as an option. I’ve been following your advice about matching the same color, and fabrics; I’ve gotten so many compliments on how I look classy now. Thanks Anna.
Very powerful video. I am 40 years old and spent my entire life dressing like a nobody. Thanks to your videos I feel inspired to live a fuller life. I started investing in clothes after watching this video and realizing that throughout my life I just resorted to joggers and everything that took away my feminine energy. I am looking at investing in more silk like night robes.
Not sure where you’re from but Talbots has the most comfortable jeans ever. They’re called Flawless Five Pocket and they feel divine. They come in a variety of colors, washes, lengths, waists, petite, curvy, and large sizes. I used to wear yoga pants around the house. Now I wear jeans-in cold seasons of course!
When Anna said, “I don't know who came up with wearing raggy clothes at home” I heard her! During this quarentine I have been wearing sweatshirts and leggings because I’m at home, but with Anna’s help I have started wearing more camisols and cardigans! It's just as comfy and I feel more put together! Thank You Anna!
It’s crazy seeing you in a sweatshirt and hair in a casual bun - wardrobe, hair and makeup makes a huge difference! Thank you for motivating us to clean out our closets Anna.
Totally agree! Men who have money and those that don't, are both careless with their hygiene, grooming and clothing. Though the lower class man tends to be far more disheveled and very bad hygiene all-around: body, home, car! Ugh!😲😷
I've just started earning enough to be comfortable. I now own my house and I'm not struggling to pay any bills. However, I realized that besides one wool winter coat, I still have a poor woman's wardrobe. I've decided to go through as many videos on channel on elegant clothing and upgrade myself. My first outfit has been picked, as I have always wanted a matching tweed skirt and jacket set.
I have enough now,,,, at 63! But my life was the poor girls life. What I have learned is second hand can be AMAZING! Look for cashmere, silk ect ect,,,I buy beautiful clothing for a fraction of the price. You see, women that have „more“ spend more and they don’t wear clothing out, their clothes end up on second hand platforms or even Goodwill . For instance a cashmere sweater I have found for $10. Even a cheap Walmart sweater sells for $10🤷🏻♀️ You don’t have to spend a fortune to look great . My 82 yr old mother practically dresses herself in Goodwill, she’s a seamstress and can spot quality across a room 😂 ( she lives below her means, can afford the best, but still has the poor girl mentality) she gets so excited when she finds a gem,,,,call me right away ( we live in different countries). It’s a competition between us,,,,,who’s going to be the thrift queen of the year 😂 I won in 2020 👸🏻 because I found wool blazers from Moschino , Gant, Ralf Lauren, Mexico and several cashmere sweaters each for under $10💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 happy thrifting ladies.
I totally agree. During the pandemic I still get ready for the day. Each morning I exercise, shower, put on casual makeup(with lipstick) style my hair and nice casual wear. I want to feel good about myself and look good for my husband when he comes home. I had deliveries at my door and heard, Wow you are so put together! Why not? feel good about yourself. It boosts your mood .🧘🏼♀️😊
I've already re-evaluated my whole wardrobe two months ago and did just this, throwing out everything I don't love to wear and obviously with holes, not feminine ,etc. I work from home as a dressmaker and seamstress. I have client visits regularly. So I know how important my appearance is and to make an effort and as well as feel attractive. All of what Anna is saying is relevant. I want to attract a man as well as look attractive at all times(even at home and doing what we do around our community) , its a direct reflection of WHO YOU ARE and how you VALUE yourself. For me it reflects how I approach my business as well as my personal life.
When my dad was alive he tried to teach me etiquette as a young kid Anna is helping me become that classy woman I should be. ❤️ I truly love your content.
In my thirties I started working from home, and having nice lounge wear has become increasingly important to me. My partner doesn't care much at all, so in the end its really for me and how it makes me feel. I completely agree with the advice to have matching sets and multiple silk robes! I still find it difficult to throw away my sweats or old t-shirts because I paint and work with plants a lot so I need things that I can afford to get dirty.
Men (husbands, boyfriends) know what our bodys look like and it doesn't matter if you put on the sexiest loungeset or mickey mouse cotton set, you can't fool him. He already knows your butt size, waistline, bust size and so on and you can't "trick his eye" into thinking you have an hourglass figure or bubblebutt when you don't. But even if your body isn't perfect it's better to look decent and not show the flaws by wearing unflattering outfits at home. Especially if you're an at home mom. Your husband, if working in an office related workplace, will meet pretty ladies who are dressed nicely everyday and then he comes home to his wife who didn't even shower or put any effort for him except maybe the household. He won't stay long...
I have been watching your channel for about a week now and I wanted to let you know that watching your channel is really helping me regain my feminine energy back. I am a twenty three year old college student and I work in a warehouse currently; I feel like I've let myself become comfortable living in leggings and oversized sweaters with a messy bun and no makeup. I hardly feel feminine anymore and it's really begun to take a toll on my mental health, as well as my marriage. You've reminded me that self maintenance is a form of self love and I have begun taking steps towards improving myself and holding myself to a higher standard since watching you and hearing all of your tips. Thank you for sharing your tips and personal standards with us--you really are helping women everywhere to become the best versions of ourselves ♥️
No one is going to the gym for the next six months with the case numbers doubling by the day. You should look up the World Health Organization on TH-cam. Everything at the gym is contaminated. They will have to sterilize for awhile.
I never liked fashion as a teenager because everyone followed trends and dressed the same. It made me believe that people who were into dressing up and looking good were superficial and shallow because it was all about having the latest pieces. When I moved to Europe i realized that most people cared way more about timeless pieces and what actually looked good on them, which was very interesting for me to see that the majority of people were very confident in that aspect. It made me realize that the effort you put in yourself says way more about your personality and self respect than people like to admit.
When i was younger i used to wear h&m pyjamas at home. Now that i am past 30 i feel more and more sexy and that is reflected in my homewear too. I want to feel lux even when at home. It makes me feel good. And now that i am earning more i spoil myself with lux loungewear and sleepwear as well as beddings too
@@alexagg7640 Intimissimi does really nice silk negligees and silk cami/shorts sets. Oysho usually has some great cheaper alternatives in satin that can work fine in my opinion.
@@majah5322 thank you! I'm in my early thirties and feel exactly like you , more and more sexy lol.. which is a good thing I believe. Anyhow, thank you for the suggestions.
I get up and shower, do my hair and makeup, albeit not as much makeup, and wear nice clothes everyday. This past week has been hard but looking my best helps.
I actually find that dressing for work even though I work from home now actually does help keep me in a better state of mind. I just feel more confident and competent. My family always asks me where I'm going even if I'm just going to my home office. 😂I'll definitely think about the pajama set as my next clothing purchase, I think it helps go in the same mindset of elegant simplicity.
Yeah! Same here! For me you’re an eye opener Anna... Thank you so much! Feeling good about yourself is more important and you can do this by treating yourself like that! I will absolutely do what you said. Thanks very very much! More power to your channel Anna! ❤️❤️ from the Philippines
I just realized I spend so much on high end workout wear and clothes for going out..... I am going to invest in feminine clothes for staying at home.....I like the idea of linen dresses and also investing in different robes to elevate my look....thank you my dear elegant Anna❤️♥️❤️♥️
I would look into law of Attraction to help boost financial situation and also remember I think it was Coco Chanel who believed the most stylish elegant people where in poorer parts of the world. I think bea johnson looks pretty elegant and she lives very low budget and sustainable.
My grandma thought me to dress well at home. To be tidy lounging around . So I’m Almost always tidy at home and even a little bit makeup and a light comforting perfume elevates my mood a lot. But, i really need to invest on silk pajamas 🙌🏻
Since watching your content, I recently invested in sleep wear of negligee, a silky night gown with lace that compliments my features well. My S.O. went wild over it, now I can't stop buying sexy fabrics to lounge in at night. This was a much needed video, regardless.
I had a rude awakening with my lounge wear. I was at my mother-in-law's visiting for a week and brought a pajama set I bought that was grey pants with the Eiffel tower all over it and a matching grey long sleeve cotton shirt with a print of the tower on it as well. The look on her face when I came out said it all. She spent a long time working in the French Embassy if that says anything. Later I looked at myself and the shape and color was not flattering and the prints looks really ridiculous when I thought about it. I was so embarrassed. Now I have some nicer gowns and it turns my husbands head when I walk in the room. Never again will I go back to what I was wearing.
@Prinzessin auf der Erbse There are some facial expressions that we can not fake, especially if we are instantly surprised by something/someone. Probably her mother in law had no time to hide the horror she felt.
@Angelica Rodriguez I am very skinny and partly that's genetics, but I noticed some of my personal habits contribute too. (In case they help you!) 1. I drink tea every day, which helps me replace sugary drinks 2. I always have a drink (like tea/water/honey) with my meal which fills me up fast 3. My family always has fruits for "dessert" 4. I used to plank while doing homework 5. I eat what I want to eat and don't restrict myself, but I stay conscious while I'm eating of what/how much
@Angelica Rodriguez I'm sorry you're experiencing that, sometimes a look of disapproval says so much more than words ever could. And if you are going to work to lose weight, be sure to take good care of yourself in the process and set reasonable goals for yourself. You deserve it!
Your linen dress is gorgeous both in style and color! My passion is to take super expensive styles that are out of my budget and re-create them on my sewing machine. Best of both worlds!
"Adults take responsibility for their appearance." I love this quote. I might just put this on my Law of Attraction board. 😜 I didn't realize that it was time for me to upgrade my home clothes. I recently gave birth so I'm spending about 95% of my time at home. I've gotten very lazy with the way that I dress both when I go out and stay in. I wear my pajamas all day and didn't realize that I haven't been putting as much effort. Still surprised my man looks at me with my hair and clothes looking the way that they do 😅 I haven't been in an ideal living situation for the past few months so I've been quite lazy, uninspired, and very tired since giving birth but I feel like spring is close by so I will do my very best to change my wardrobe, at least little by little. Thank you for the inspiration and guidance ❤ I feel so much more elegant just by watching this vid.
Ksenia I have never been in the same situation as you, and I will write this comment for anyone who might be in a similar state of mind. I struggled with severe depression in the past, and one of the things that made me feel good was to wake up every morning, take a good shower and wear simple clothes that I could wear to go to the market down the street. Taking off the pajamas is really important, because if you don’t your brain would still feel like you are in a bed state of mind, and we can’t feel this way all day long, right? I totally understand the feeling of being unmotivated to dress yourself due to external causes, but following Anna’s rules is not only part of being attractive to your man, but also about taking care and loving yourself!
A lot of these tips, I was already following because I've been leveling up with you for a while, but this video is so helpful, as I spend most of my time at home and there is nowhere else to find this guidance. Remember ladies, if you're getting rid of clothes that are in good condition, just to upgrade your style, donate them to a charity shop or program! It is more sustainable and somebody may need it.
I have used your advice on selecting a new wardrobe. I get compliments on my appearance regularly. I notice people (men and women) looking at my outfits. Many women ask where I get certain items. They like the way I look, but can't put their finger on the fact that I am dressing feminine-not for other women.
It is not elegant to imagine that even the poor will want your torn, faded clothes. Be discerning in what you donate. Repurpose for crafts, maybe. Cut off buttons before putting in trash, absolutely. But don’t dump on thrift stores or charities, don’t create a burden for them to throw away your trash.
The funny thing about me is that I always make sure I have good quality bedding, towels and home ware, but I forget about myself. Thank you for reminding me.
I absolutely love this video. Being a Mom of three kids under two really has given me a daily struggle with finding my femininity. I look forward to purging my closet and restyling my look. I think this will no doubt help with feeling my best when my husband is home too.
When I lived in the Middle East, I had several silk caftans (mumu) that I wore around the house. Very loose for air flow but also very pretty and elegant.
@@mariaflorenciaalvarez1926 Yes, they're great. There are formal caftans for parties that are beautiful. Different regions/countries have their own style. Some patterns are a little busy, and like Anna says, choosing a solid color is the classier choice, maybe with some pretty embroidery. It's also very easy to make your own if you'd like a particular fabric. Of course, it goes without saying that they are forgiving with the figure if we're working on that 🙂
thanks Anna, for being here to transform the thinking of us, women. Sadly, I grew up wearing terrible, old, worn out clothes at home (my mom insisted on nice clothes only when I went out, but the rest of time I could be dressed in any rug I wanted) - as if it only mattered what others think about me, but it wouldnt matter what I think about myself. When at home and somebody was visiting, I got changed to something acceptable for a short time - so pathetic. As an adult, I knew I wanted to change the way I dress in general, but dressing at home had always been the last priority for me. Now I realize that it is just as important as dressing for going out. Because I want to feel good about myself, everyday and everywhere. And feeling worthy. However, after so many years of the wrong mindset, this will also be a long journey before I really can get used to it. But this video is a good start for me, for changing my thinking and also for the inspiration. Anna, you look amazing in all your lounge outfits. You have been a real example for many of us :-)
Considering I spend 28-31 nights a month in my pyjamas, I’ve decided to upgrade my sleepwear and my loungewear, especially as a transition into an era of working from home. This is the best and most put together video on TH-cam out of everything I have found. Thank you for being concise and fun and making it beautiful all the while. Aunty Anna ❤ is Forever the best.
Specially in these quarantine times it’s so important for me to not stay on my pajamas all day! Trust me, getting a good shower, doing your hair and dressing nice is such a mood booster
My grandmother always taught me to have dressing gowns in a variety of fabrics and colors on hand. These I learned to sew, design and embellish when I was quite young. Luxurious Bed jackets are also an option to dress up a simple silk slip and keep warm. And if I have to answer the door to receive a package, these two items can add modesty when necessary. I wear lingerie at home, unless I am entertaining, then I wear what is appropriate for the occasion.
I liked this format! You showing us around your wardrobe with your personal style recommendations. The clothes that you wore were in the background. A+!!!
This video is exactly what I needed! I started my own business so I work from home and my daily uniform is leggings and a t shirt and it has definitely started to take a toll on my self confidence. I don't know why I thought I should only care about how I look when I go out! That changes today. Thank you so much
Dear Anna, It's so nice to have you as my mentor in my journey for achieving a more elegant lifestyle. I really enjoyed your video and I am grateful for it. Although, I was wondering what are your recommendations regarding what slippers should we wear at home. I want to be attractive from head to toe, even if I am in the comfort of my house.
Low key, Anna Bey is out here not just saving Wardrobes but even Marriages!! You go girl!! Thank you for always being Honest and Genuinely You! I love it! 🙏🏾❤️😍
What if he wears rags for work?? People who earn their living from masonary carpentry wall painting and decorating tile layers etc. Not everyone works in an office dear 🤨
Love this video 😁 I do feel depressed when I wear my pj's all day. When I actually wash my face, do my hair, and wear adequate clothing I feel good 😁👍.
I'm introverted af so I don't go out alot in general, and i literally always make myself look elegant jyst chilling by myself, i just love pampering myelf and putting on a silk robe and make my hair pretty, i even wear jewlery at home. staying at home feeling like a lady is the best thing. sometimes i feel even prettier at home than going out hahah
Actually this makes sense to me. My grandmother always dressed in nice house dresses and night gown sets. My mom and aunts all had nice sleep and loungewear. When you think of the 50’s-70’s it was customary to see that style of dress at home (I’ve seen an old picture of my mom in the 80’s at home). I’ve started to clean my drawers of old clothes and replace with new lounge and sleep wear
Yess our elegant princess 👒 that's why many people asked me when I'm looks even at home elegant "where are you going?". I prefer to be elegant, with makeup, jewelry even when I'm at home!!⚘👒🦋👛 actually this is a good advice for every woman.
@Sylvie Kb THAT'S ME! I LOVE LOOKING MYSELF IN THE MIRROR AND FEELING BEAUTIFUL, LIKE AN ELEGANT QUEEN, I ALSO LOVE APPLYING PERFUME AND WEARING SILK GARMENTS ❤️ NOT EVERYBODY UNDERSTAND THAT MINDSET...
I want to be like you guys. Every night I say to myself, tomorrow I'll look human, I'll do something nice for my hair , I'll put on nice clothes. Then the morning comes.....and Nope..
Catalina Fuster my biggest advice would be to take care of your clothing the night before you go to bed as it will keep you from choosing the easy path
Hi, I would like to ask a question. Can you wash these silk pillow cases in the washing machine? I am asking because all the silk clothes that I own are dry clean only.
@@marina_fe most new washing machines have a silk or delicate setting. Or just pop in a bucket with some delicates washing liquid for 10 minutes, rinse and hang to dry indoors :)
I usually wear a set of pyjamas in winter, and in the summer (like now), I wear grey or black cotton shorts and a cotton tank top in a nice colour, like saumon or grey or some other pastel colour. I like being colourful but still matching my colours , and it can be very elegant! My current favourite combination is saumon and light grey with black and gold accessories, it makes me feel so empowered and feminine! I love your videos, Anna, you've taught me so much! And I find that I have an affinity for the classics (like your other video about the best bags to invest in, to which I agreed with everything, I hate when there's a big logo on anything, be it clothing or accessories, because it makes me feel like a moving advertisement!) Even though I don't really like neutral colours, but I believe you can still look classy and elegant even with loud colours, if you combine them wisely and making sure they are complimentary to your figure and complexion...! 😊😁
Anna: “It’s all about how you treat yourself at home, even if you live by yourself” SO TRUE

This channel gets better and better everytime I watch. Especially as someone who has been here since day one.
Totally..
Agreed! I've been watching her ever since she went on this Morning. She gets better and better
I agree! I remember I first clicked on her first video out of curiosity and now I’m so glad I did because her videos help me out so much and I just thoroughly enjoy watching them anyway :D

By the time this quarantine is over I’ll come out greeting my friends "good evening my dear elegant ladies"
Danielle Gee I’ve started😅
Nice

Danielle Gee me too but I don’t wanna be corny with it like I’m trying too hard
Im a stay at home mom, and even though I have nowhere to go, I feel like when I get ready my mood is better and I don’t feel so gloomy. It really makes a difference. A lady is a lady no matter where you are!
Me too. Not fancy just put together.
Especially during lock down of pandemic. Even though I couldn't go anywhere, and just did house errands, I wore my good outfit and put on my make up 😍
Never tought we would ever see Anna in sweatshirt and Mickey Mouse t-shirt😂😂😂
fabi 0681 hahahah
Only for science lol
😂😂😂😂
She looks so cute though😂😩
Even then she looks elegant
Wow, this was an eye opener. I dress like a million dollars when I leave my house. However, when I’m at home, I dress like a homeless lady.😂
Thank you for changing my perspective. I just now ordered feminine loungewear & cute nightgowns opposed to my stretch pants & t-shirts.😒
Renee where did you order your lounge where from?
Sheree Taylor Macy’s & eBay
So did I. Exact same. Never thought about it like this. Thanks for inspiring
What brands did you ladies find the most success with for nice lounge wear & pajamas?
Same. On the street I dress in REISS at home I dress in target 🎯 Mickey Mouse 🐁🤣😂
Honestly, I used to wear old, oversized commercial t-shirts to bed. Even though I woke up every morning, glimpsed myself in the mirror and though: "Ugh. I look like crap. This is the most unattractive thing I have seen - and this is me!"
After watching some of Anna's other videos, I decided to go through my closet and sort out these old t-shirts and wash some of my finer nightwear (which I had laying around but never actually used).
I felt amazing every night going to bed and every morning getting up wearing these things. Not feeling sloppy in my outfit even provided me with more energy.
After about a week, my partner turned to me and said: "You know. I really like watching you in this new nightwear. Please tell me you have thrown out the old t-shirts!"
Ladies, listen to Anna. It makes a huge difference what you wear at home. Both for your energy, how you feel and for your partner.
True
I agree sis 😪
Thank you. There's too many haters in the comment section. And ppl if you're on a budget you don't have to go for 100% silk and cashmere materials. Get the lower end stuff just make sure u look well put together. If you don't want to let go of clothes because of emotional attachment, there are videos on yt on crafting. Im planning on framing this oversized shirt that I will NEVER throw out but would make Anna act unlady like towards me if she ever saw me in it 😂😂😂 just kidding guys, Anna is never unladylike
do you please have a brand you recommend?
Get something that feels very good. I got a nice soft oversized flannel for winter, I love it so much, keeps me warm down to the toes. It doesn’t need to be super fancy but nice. Mine is plaid and I LOVE it. ( for cold weather) I’m not slim so I think silk would rip while sleeping ( I’m not concerned with wrinkles as much as tearing)
A tip for matching sets: remember to wash the bottoms with the tops, otherwise they will fade at different rates and the bottoms will likely end up darker.
that's something I've learned the hard way.. haha
Good tip.
🎉
Truth!
The only valuable takeaway from this video
@Jen Lilysilk is good! I've been buying silk clothing from them for years.
Have fun!
Good inspo! Love the idea of silk at home too
Good job honey! Very feminine❤
When she said “throw out everything that’s from H&M that’s 10 years old” I’ve never felt so attacked 😂😂😂😂
Nya Nya 😂😂
For real!!! Lmao!
I just bought yesterday at H&M some clothes. I felt so bad🙈😬😭😞😏🤪😒🤷🏻♀️😂
My H&M clothes don't last for 10 years🤣

Ouch, that got me too. I needed to hear that one too.
I'm on my 30's now and still stuck in this 12 year old body hahha still wearing animal printed logos and crazy pattern lounge wear yikes!!
WhatJane Does you are not alone believe me. After watching this video I went to Soma and Vic Secrets and did a complete lounge makeover.
That got me too!
🙂
My mother always emphasized to us to look made up even when at home. She always told us to look like a lady even when lounging at the house. So many things she taught us that you teach in your videos..
totally oppposite to mine. My mother always told me to wear clothes (at home) that are not expensive and old. They might've been washed out, but she didn't care. It was about saving money . And she usually repeated to me "who's gonna see you at home?'.
@@kchkaceha Same with me.. 🤦🏻♀️
My mom taught me to wear what makes me feel comfortable
@@ida3400 I'm so sorry
I’m a man and I watched your videos a few times and you’ve encouraged me to step up my Masculine elegance. Like the southern gentleman I am. Also will you do a video about Looking proper and country settings
Well I would watch that ...do invite please..lol
Agree, wardrobe for the country estate and horsewoman
You should watch the gentlemans gazette in that case

My mother taught me to wear clothes around the house so as not to be ashamed to open the door when a boy who I fancy knocked on them
God bless your mother ❤She's elegant,so are you!
This is my opinion too...
That’s funny. When I was growing up I would clean as if a boy I liked was coming over haha
I agree. Unfortunately do not practice as I should. There is an older lady in my town who still runs a antique business from her home even though she is in her 80s. She is a classic southern lady. She is always “ company ready”. And always gracious.
See! My dad taught me to be this way around the house but after he passed my mom was the influence and......yeah smh
Your comment just made me feel like I'm teaching my kids to dress poorly at home too as I always dress poorly
Same as mine. I was told not to waste money on home clothes
I'm exactly the same. Because of that I have clothes that are over 30 years old.
yh my mom also taught me that. and now I'm teaching my mom to dress well at home
I started dressing acceptable at home and it has honestly increased my self respect! After all, every time you pass a mirror you are still evaluating what you see in front of yourself. 😌😊 Thanks Anna for this idea!
You are right
Yes! Nothing like feeling a "looser" when not liking of what I wear. Even that nobody else sees it...but I SEE IT!!! 👁👁
If she saw what I’m wearing at home, she’d probably get me deported from this planet 🌎 🚀

thats sucha good question .why the hell do we wear our ugliest clothes at home?????????????
I think many were taught that you save your nicer stuff to go out in public & at home you can where the older worn things. It's probably about being frugal.
I definitely think a beautiful woman can where just about anything & still have her beauty radiate from the inside out. Especially if you are in shoulder to shoulder activity with your man. Like watching him fix a car, fishing etc
WHY?????
Because you're not in public.
BECAUSE WE ARE AT HOMEEEE
Happy 5475 I’m a painter and of course I do not wear my expensive clothes when I do acrylic and oil 😁
I love how brutally honest Anna is. It doesn't even offend me because I agree with what she has to say.
It's interesting bc nothing she said was offensive. It's common sense.
This is important

I love this! 🥰 My mother always taught me to be presentable inside the home. Even if we were of humble means, we still made sure to have well ironed sets of home clothes for winter and summer. In my opinion, it’s not about vanity. It’s more about discipline. When you take pride in the way you dress, that almost sets the tone for the day. It has an impact on the way you feel and how productive you are; just like waking up early, exercising and having a scheduled routine. It’s part of it all.
That is such an elegant lady message. ♥️
Definitely agree.
Me too. Always look presentable especially when you come to the dining table. Till today I wash up, clean my face and comb my hair before sitting down to eat. Lol!!
Same here
I agree. I think that is a big thing missing in today's society. The pendulum swings, I guess.
“No Mickey Mouse, no Betty Boop, no Snoopy”... Americans, she’s talking to us 😂
Elizabeth Nanette 😂😂😂
Indeed!
We’re big time offenders
Not this American🙋🙋🙋 lol but I am the queen of tank tops and sweatpants (only at home tho, I never wear sweatpants outside of home) lmaoooo
As a Minnesotan, the Snoopy part hurts a bit 😂
Shedding the faded house dresses, tattered pajamas and sweats is really lifting my spirits. Pulling my look together distracts a bit from the difficult realities of physical isolation. Every time I looked down or passed a mirror, the sight of my frumpwear had been compounding the depression and anxiety I already felt. Who needed that? Not me!
Also, as I video chat with friends, I've noticed that my improved appearance provides a positive experience--and example--for them. So, wins all around!
Thanks for the video.
Mass Fractal I couldn’t concur with you more!

What’s funny is that at 5:47, she’s wearing palazzo pants- living in Miami, I ADORE long, loose, boot cut ‘pants’ (more like the bottoms from La Linge NYC) at home & out and about.

Me too! I'm with you!🌷
My problem is I want this huge wardrobe like the housewives and I end up with a lot of what the hell did I buy this for.
❤

Thank you!

Elegant Quotes 😘
Exactly.😄
Oh please! Who opens their door at all
I’m definitely leveling up my lounge wear, ladies we deserve to look and feel luxurious for ourselves too.
I love it
Do you quilt with a machine or by hand.
@@adriannehubbard3452 think it’s okay to mix just don’t use stretch fabrics with woven.

I don’t know why but I hate wearing jeans at home😢
Not sure where you’re from but Talbots has the most comfortable jeans ever. They’re called Flawless Five Pocket and they feel divine. They come in a variety of colors, washes, lengths, waists, petite, curvy, and large sizes. I used to wear yoga pants around the house. Now I wear jeans-in cold seasons of course!

That should be more emphasized: we want men to look good too. Many of them think they can look like crap as long as they have money.

Get it girl!!!
Even a cheap Walmart sweater sells for $10🤷🏻♀️
You don’t have to spend a fortune to look great .

This isn't an attack on you btw, just emphasized what you said, that it's important to look and feel good at home too!
The variety of textures in the amzrepo pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.

Now we need "How to look elegant at the Gym" 🏋️💪🤸♀️🏋️♀️
You've gotta me on this one...LOL
Please and thank you!
yes
With the COVID it's going to be a loooooong while before any one of us gets to look elegant at the gym though
And now that i am earning more i spoil myself with lux loungewear and sleepwear as well as beddings too
Do you have any suggestions? Brands? Stores? .
@@alexagg7640 You're welcome. That is a good thing! wearing things like that really make you feel feminine and empowered.
@ Betty-- H&M? That's such an upgrade! Try Walmart!! 🤣🤣
I get up and shower, do my hair and makeup, albeit not as much makeup, and wear nice clothes everyday. This past week has been hard but looking my best helps.
Please please make a fragrance video!!!

One of your “elegant ladies” 💛
I actually find that dressing for work even though I work from home now actually does help keep me in a better state of mind. I just feel more confident and competent. My family always asks me where I'm going even if I'm just going to my home office. 😂I'll definitely think about the pajama set as my next clothing purchase, I think it helps go in the same mindset of elegant simplicity.
Anna: Adults don't wear cartoon characters, Snoopy or Betty Boop on our clothes!

My grandma thought me to dress well at home. To be tidy lounging around . So I’m Almost always tidy at home and even a little bit makeup and a light comforting perfume elevates my mood a lot. But, i really need to invest on silk pajamas 🙌🏻
She has a point. We are staying home longer these days, it's a good idea to invest in really comfortable and chic home clothes.
Probably her mother in law had no time to hide the horror she felt.
that was a sad story actually. it made me feel pretty bad.
@Angelica Rodriguez I am very skinny and partly that's genetics, but I noticed some of my personal habits contribute too. (In case they help you!)
1. I drink tea every day, which helps me replace sugary drinks
2. I always have a drink (like tea/water/honey) with my meal which fills me up fast
3. My family always has fruits for "dessert"
4. I used to plank while doing homework
Omg, judgemental looks are brutal, is like being punched in the face

Best of both worlds!
"Adults take responsibility for their appearance." I love this quote. I might just put this on my Law of Attraction board. 😜
I didn't realize that it was time for me to upgrade my home clothes. I recently gave birth so I'm spending about 95% of my time at home. I've gotten very lazy with the way that I dress both when I go out and stay in. I wear my pajamas all day and didn't realize that I haven't been putting as much effort. Still surprised my man looks at me with my hair and clothes looking the way that they do 😅
I haven't been in an ideal living situation for the past few months so I've been quite lazy, uninspired, and very tired since giving birth but I feel like spring is close by so I will do my very best to change my wardrobe, at least little by little.
At home I usually look like a homeless person, lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Underrated comment lol
😄😄 Funny but true.
Me too!!!!!

The sets of pyjamas she was criticizing were way nicer than mine😂 I don't even have a matching set.
I have used your advice on selecting a new wardrobe. I get compliments on my appearance regularly. I notice people (men and women) looking at my outfits. Many women ask where I get certain items. They like the way I look, but can't put their finger on the fact that I am dressing feminine-not for other women.
Grown up ladies don’t “throw “ things out !!! They RECYCLE ♻️ them.
Exactly.
Thank you.
PS: Or donate them, of course.
I used ripped clothes for drying my hair 🤣🤣
It is not elegant to imagine that even the poor will want your torn, faded clothes. Be discerning in what you donate. Repurpose for crafts, maybe. Cut off buttons before putting in trash, absolutely. But don’t dump on thrift stores or charities, don’t create a burden for them to throw away your trash.
Best comment! Throw away doesnt exist
The funny thing about me is that I always make sure I have good quality bedding, towels and home ware, but I forget about myself. Thank you for reminding me.

When I lived in the Middle East, I had several silk caftans (mumu) that I wore around the house. Very loose for air flow but also very pretty and elegant.
Where can I get that?
@@susanmayell5707 You can find them online if not in the Middle East. Try a Google search for "caftan".
@@BaladyDogs OMG!! They're so pretty; not only at home!! 👍
I have a bunch that my friend gave me from Thailand/Laos. They're great 👌
@@mariaflorenciaalvarez1926 Yes, they're great.

Dear Anna,
It's so nice to have you as my mentor in my journey for achieving a more elegant lifestyle. I really enjoyed your video and I am grateful for it.
Although, I was wondering what are your recommendations regarding what slippers should we wear at home. I want to be attractive from head to toe, even if I am in the comfort of my house.

Love this video 😁 I do feel depressed when I wear my pj's all day. When I actually wash my face, do my hair, and wear adequate clothing I feel good 😁👍.
Yes me too!!
I feel like we have to earn our pajamas after a day of civilian clothes. They don't feel as comfy when worn for too long.
En that's exactly me
When I dress elegant at home I feel like I’m on my A game 24/7. It has honestly made me proud of myself. Like I’ve finally reached adulthood.

Marina, yes but you must turn it inside out and no more than a 30 degree wash.
