  • Jonny Milner followed on from his 2003 win on the island with another win in 2004 in his Subaru. Local ace Mark Higgins led in a Skoda Octavia until mechanical issues dropped him down the field. Kenny McKinstry was the best of the Irish drivers in second place while Derek McGarrity extended his Irish Tarmac Rally Championship lead by taking the final podium spot.

If you see so many wrc cars in an wrc event of today, you might be only on drugs

Jonny Milner didn't need to win this rally all he had to do was beat Austin McHale for maximum British Championship points and take full advantage of British Championship leader David Higgins' absence going into this event. David Higgins had to miss this round due to taking a one off paid drive for Mitsubishi on the Kwai Chou Rally in China's Guhzo district which was enough to get him to the remainder of that season made his maximum score at the previous round the Jim Clark Rally when he finished 4th overall but 1st BRC car home more important.
