NFL is becoming a clown show. The new kickoff is something for children. Scoring is down in the league and it looks like they are trying to scam their way into a team getting the ball near midfield. They seem to be trying to make it like the college overtime where each team gets the ball close to the goal. The QB's are overhyped in the draft pretending like they are stars when they obviously aren't. The NFL hype production is a snap shot of one thing that's wrong with the US or a bunch of things. What Mr Cosell left out is that even Patrick Mahomes sat for a year. This is how it was always done. Rarely did rookie QBs come in and start immediately, and GB is proving that it absolutely still works.

There's no realistic scenario where Penix starts at 28 years old.
Every realistic scenario has him competing for the starting role next year or the year after.
When you look at Cousins contract it's obvious that's what the Falcons are thinking too. The third year of his deal is only $10m guaranteed. That gives Penix three to four years left on his rookie deal. This was a good pick up.

Non of those quarterback will be good! Everybody always looks at the physical talent of these players. No one actually looks at the mental capabilities of these guys to play at this level of football. Every year there is a bunch of talent drafted, but very few last because they never learn to play the game at a cerebral level.

2021 draft 8 QBs in the first the rounds and Lawrence is the only one with the team that drafted him. Lawrence, Wilson, Lance, Fields, and Jones all drafted in the top 15 picks.

Saved John Harbaugh’s job is a strong statement. And yes, Lamar Jackson was the last pick of the first round. A pic that they had a trade back up to take.
And RB's? Not a single RB was drafted until pick 46. That has never happened in the history of the draft. After 119 picks, only 4 RB's were drafted. Last year, there was twice as many drafted in that span. For some context, in 1990, 12 of the first 45 draft picks were RB's. In 2005, THREE of the top five draft picks were RB's. Just goes to show how much the NFL has changed, even in the last year. RB's simply are not valued anymore and after Sequon Barkley got drafted 2nd overall just a few years back, I completely understand WHY they are not valued anymore...

We just don't know! The big difference for college QBs is the speed of NFL defenses. Some will adapt & some will just be overwhelmed. Some will be in better situations than others. Calib Williams should have a reasonably good team around him. As a Tarheel fan I worry about Drake Mayes' landing spot in NE. Maye has an arm & size. Hope the kid does something!

Penix was never supposed to make it past the Raiders at number 13 and it was rumored the they may even trade up to get Penix. Kirk has 1 playoff win and ironically kirk was drafted by the same team that drafted RG3 in the first round in the same draft. Also keep in mind, kirk will keep you good enough to keep you in draft purgatory and unable to get top tier draft talent at QB. A sports journalist assessing QB's based on the use of sunglasses is crazy. Teams draft for need.
Cousins will be in Atlanta no more than 2 years. Penix will still have 3 years on his rookie contract.

Penix is the long term solution.
Penix had the best arm in college. Cousins won't last all 17 games. Great pick up by Atlanta. Penix was not getting out of the 1st round so don't act surprised. Penix just needs to learn the short passing game. He was already a Pro QB when he played last year.
Over drafting is a myth when you need a specific talent. Paying a 36 year old (now injured QB) $90M is the risk; signing another good QB who can be a solid backup in the short term and potentially your long term QB is smart. Atlanta has blown 3 years because limitations for QB.
If Cousins gets to the playoffs for 2 years his contract pays for itself.

I’m going to say this, I’m an Atlanta Falcons fan through and through. Yeah, not going to lie, I was stumped and disappointed at the same time. Now that I think of it, I really think that it was a brilliant move. Kurt has been paid and has a no trade clause. We acquired Kurt Cousins and built up around him with a win now attitude. Now, if things go as according where we win championship and are an elite team when Kurt Cousins reign is over we have an elite Quarterback to take over without missing a beat.

Also about the Green Bay Model it's not how Atlanta won with their most successful QB in franchise history Matt Ryan. I believe Jason Whitlock is 100% correct that in a few years this QB draft class will be viewed as overrated & people will wonder why people fell for the hype. The biggest mistake people make today is how they grade College QBs for the NFL Level. 10+ years ago everyone knew that QBs with the greatest college stats & Heisman trophies where not going to be the NFL Stars just because of there college success. Today people try to translate what a QB did in college to the NFL & it doesn't work. The reason this is happening is because the Political Left is trying to change what the NFL QB Position is to a "Dual Threat QB" but its hasn't worked & it never will. Just search how the QB position in the NFL is changing & you'll see articles going back 10-15+ years.
