Please never quit being "real people" even if that makes you "terrible podcasters". We have far too many plastic, fake, perfect, soul sucking individuals to listen to today. Give me a "human, funny, real, Dominican friar" over the others any day. Blessings and prayers headed your way, whatever your temperament your loved!

For what it’s worth, I’ve only come across the word “nadir” three times in my life. Once in an Alice Walker novel when I was 19, once from my children’s’ pediatrician when my middle child kept getting viruses as a toddler (“Her immune system is at its nadir and will only build up from here”), and now from Fr Gregory. 🤣

Thank you Fr Jacob and Fr Gregory for this interesting subject and how it ties in with our spiritual life.
Goal in understanding our temperament to gain self-knowledge in order to grow in humility and ultimately to perfect our nature through grace.
    Que Dieu vous bénisse.

Thanks so much Friars i learned so much and how temperament is not an excuse for certain behaviours. I love how you said you can be a saint with any temperament..I also learned how to spell temperament🤣 thanks to Father Pine. Wonderful episode as always!

I totally dislike being a hyper Nelly.
I am 77.25 and enough is enough.
I facilitate activities for an assisted living facility. So l am an extrovert because l am on stage as the fun lady. BUT l can get too anxious. I pray to chill more.
Using my brain helps.,The TI and PWA, Summa..Heavy reading diverts my introspective perception.
    Thank you

Enneagram: nine types, from the Greek for 9 "ennea."
As an aside, the only personality model that has been statistically validated as psychologically predictive is the Five Factor model.

Before my re-version two the Church a couple years ago, I spent almost 8 years studying the enneagram. Please stay away from it, as although it is offered in the USA as a casual personality type system (even in some Catholic circles), its origins are from gnosticism and the occult and fundamentally not compatible with the Catholic understanding of the human person. Fr. Mitch Pacwa has a good book about the subject as well.

I'm glad you said this as this is my concern also. As a former Protestant, I noticed enthusiasm for the Enneagram was gaining more and more ground in my circles. But as a former New Ager I was aware there was nothing Christian about it and that it had origins that make it spiritually dangerous. Just look at the symbol, it is a lot like the Satanic inverted pentegram. This may seem over the top but seemingly harmless things that have come from channelling can provide permission for demonic activity in your life. Sad to hear it is now osnetrating into the Catholic Church. I hope Catholics stick to the traditional types (phlegmatic, sanguine etc) or use the research validated five factor model. The later us easy to remember using the following mnemonic: OCEAN. O for Openness, C for Conscientiousness, E for Extraversion, A for Agreeableness, and N for Neuroticism. All these are in a continuum with their opposites.
