I agree! When GM had to consolidate brands, I wish they would’ve kept Pontiac instead of Buick (and just left Buick for China since there wasn’t another way to keep both brands here).
Then they would’ve had 3 main brands that they could’ve truly differentiated from each other (well, four - counting GMC).
Pontiac could’ve gotten the extra dose of performance while Cadillac could’ve gone more upmarket to go toe-to-toe with a car that would be cross-shopped with a Mercedes S-Class.
They basically handed that over to Genesis - as the G90 is in that league.
I wish Cadillac made something like a modern day version of this car with the Roll-Royce Phantom as a benchmark. Yes, it would be costly and not a volume seller but it would show the world that GM is serious about not only bringing the brand to its former glory, but exceeding in every facet to truly make Cadillac “The Standard of The World.”
I could go on but I will always think: What if?
