The 7 black was a massive step from previous action cams and I still love using it and the footage it produces. The 8 was never an 'upgrade' option for me, the non replaceable lens was an instant deal breaker. I'll definitely be buying the 9 as soon as its available in the UK, can't wait to see how it compares.

Yes, all charged in £, no import duty etc to pay. Have purchased direct from the UK facing part of the GoPro website a few times.

Still no 4K 120, still no bigger sensor, low light quality just downgraded, a big ol’ front screen which makes it even more prone to impact and damage, more weight, and more size.
In this direction, GoPro is not creating the rugged action cam we want. It’s becoming another crappy camera that’s forgetting its client base, and betting on the sales of mods and lenses, which also completely oppose the point of GoPro. No more simplicity, just a modular camera that creates more issues in the field.
The Hero 8 Black is also better in low light than the 9.
Yes you are correct the extra Pixels make her poor Performance in low light conditions, they need to increase the sensor size
that's not good since recording at night with the 8 looks super grainy
Air Photography I think they struggle to increase the side of the sensor because they try to make compact action cameras and having a bug sensor won’t help
@@AirPhotography they might for Hero 10 or X! Perhaps even they will have interchangeable lenses!
You're a lifesaver! I wondered if my GoPro9 was faulty when it comes to the touchscreen being a bit clunky I also find you have to touch the screen a bit harder for it respond is that the same for yours? Many thanks mate!
I´ll hang on to my Hero 8 for at least 3 more years. The 9th GoPro version has some nice new futures but my 8 has all i need for my trail running videos. The only fustrating issue is that my lens is not replaceable and i must say i have spent more money protecting it than what the camera itsleft cost me. Nice video dude. Keep it up!
Bought Hero 9 Black a month ago and using it to record vlogs since then. It is perfect to carry around and works great 💯. The battery lasts for around 45 minutes and the heating is another issue but I guess you can work around that by buying extra batteries and getting a shorty from go pro or ulanzi. Totally satisfied with the purchase 🤩💯. Your videos have been helpful, thank you for making these vids 😄🙏
Imagine the human race in 30 years... gopro 75, can launch into space and record a space timelaps uasing 55K ... rocket launcher extra. .. we will never be happy or have it all. but they will keep trying to make us WANT it :) and the audio input will still be there and upgradeable
I think human race is going to go towards more efficient ways rather than performance.

In one of you previous posts on the hero8 I made a comment that if GoPro didn’t replace the removable lens cover then I wouldn’t be purchasing another GoPro. Great, they’ve done it and as a result I’ve purchased the Hero 9. However, I have tried to purchase the protective housing & waterproof cover and the dual battery charger only to find that they are out of stock. Come on GoPro! Releasing the new hero 9 and not to have adequate stock of accessories is poor to say the least especially the dual charger given that the battery can only be used on the 9. The site doesn’t even indicate when stock would be replenished - I live in London UK. One last thing your TH-cam channel is great and very helpful - 🙏

i never got a gopro before but yesterday ordered the 9. long time ago i did buy a Yi (?) but rarely used it.

I don’t have any of the GoPro Hero camera, so it’s worth it to own this one. Size and weight is not an issue as I carry larger camera. This camera is good if I’m on a boat and caught in the rain while traveling.

Holding off for the Hero 10! You know they're holding out on us, took 3 generations of alternative competitor cameras having front face screens for them to even think about adding it.
You're right! Hero 9 is now a combination of osmo action + one r with updated features.. if there's osmo action 2 coming soon I'll definitely give the 9 a tough competition
all good points but reason #1 to upgrade is really the worst reason you could offer. because it comes with less plastic packaging is not a reason to upgrade toa brand new gopro. neither is the fact that it comes with a carrying case. but I do agree wit5h you on the rest. thank you.
Honestly I want the hero 9, but I’m saving up for a truck right now, and don’t want to pay $350. I currently have a hero 5 session so I might get the hero 7 if I do end up needing a new GoPro soon

Only downside on larger batteries is wont last as long with 2 screen running all the time unless you turn front screen off

Good Video except the first reason. Saying that someone should buy something because it uses less packaging then the previous models. I know this is not a main reason but still, having it first seemed like you were saying we should buy a brand new electronical device because it has less packaging (but still some packaging and obviously all of the electronics). Still, good video with valid reasons and points.
When you do your review, I would appreciate it if you would also compare it not just to the 8 but also the 7 as I myself have the 7 and I’m sure there are many other people who skipped the 8 waiting for this camera. Thanks for all the awesome content!
I wish i would have purchesed the 7 and not the 8. Having spent more money on protecting the unrepleasable lens than what the cameta itself cost me is damn fustrating.
Ivan Bagnasco I’m sure you could sell it and upgrade to the 9. You’ll probably take a bit of a loss but if you don’t want 2 cameras and would rather have the 9, it is an option. From what I’ve heard, it’s generally easy to find a buyer after the new releases.

I have the 8; as tempted as I am to buy the 9, something tells me to wait for the 10 or the next Max even. For most of us, 5k recording is not very useful and next years generation of GoPro's may fix some of the fromt lcd related issues that may be present with the 9.
Just wish the 8 had horizon leveling and being able to record audio on 1x TimeWarp OH and replaceable lense (not sure what GoPro was thinking last year when they removed them)

I´m happy with the Hero 7 but reason no 10 is really great (leveled horizon)!
9 is definitely an improvement in few aspects but the 8 is still an excellent camera nonetheless 👍

I didn't care much about the change from the 7 to the 8 with the lens not being removable because I always use a supersuit due to super cold conditions snowmobiling.
I like the upgrades on the new 9 but since I have a the 7 & 8 I think I'm going to skip this upgrade. I also have a Hero 2 & a Hero 4 silver but they are pretty much obsolete. Nice video.

The USB Audio connection when used still exposes battery and memory card. They didn’t add a separate door for usb connection as in Hero 7

My Hero 7 freezes constantly and has been the most frustrating camera I have owned. The footage is awesome, but the freezing is terrible. Hoping my 9 does not have the same problem. The 9 screen seems to be pretty unresponsive.
Agreed, that back screen is non-responsive half of the time, frustrates me to no end, just find myself poking at the screen..
On the other hand I'm loving it, adding higher bitrate for video is alone worth upgrading to 9, looking forward to testing 2.7K 120fps at high bitrate..
I value your opinion hell of lot more than those so called "expert" youtubers, some of those reviews were a joke, cheers

Definitely getting this one. Gopro got the feature I was looking for. Horizon Leveling. Everything else is perks. That includes 5K video. Now if we can do 5K at 60 fps. I'd dummy it down to 1080p anyway. .but let's see what we can do with 5K video.

One thing I’ve noticed about the touch screen, trying using your thumb instead of index finger. It works way better and I don’t know why.

I understand you can line up other battery. Hero 8 Then fold some cardboard to keep it in place. Who knows maybe someone can work out the shape and 3D print it? But yeah that’s until hero nine or 3rd party battery’s become available...

I’m looking to shoot long video footages for my use. At least 1 hr long. Can I keep the camera charging without overheating (and shutting down) for extended periods?
Also, does that mean the battery flap is going be half open off the side the whole time? Is that removable? Would be very unsightly if I needed to keep it charging while recording with the flap hanging

One problem I'm hearing is the audio input jack will NOT allow your external mic's to work, if you update the firmware. I'm guessing at some point they will fix this crucial problem.
I definitely wish they made more of it backwards compatible, but it’s a heck of a camera!

I been having a ton of problems with the gopro quik cloud transfer system last 110 videos i recorded on my cameras i uploaded to cloud from cameras but when I go on my computer to download the footage notice even though cameras said uploads completed but nothing showed up on the quik app anybody having these problems also?

I recently bought my first ever gopro, the 8, and naturally the new one was right on its heels... Your videos on it were helpful in finally pulling the trigger though. Did you mention that there was a new MAX coming out too?

Still using Hero 5 black, I could use an upgrade. Keep my 5 for the Karma, maybe get a 7 as well for multiple camera setup.
May be we shall talk about the reasons not avoid it like a plague?
1. It will crash, much more often than you expect.
2. The touch screen is super hard to use and will annoy you every day.
3. The scheduled capture is not working. Of course GoPro won't admit it, but will "Improve" it with some not specified in time firmware update.
4. The max lens mod wouldn't first screw to the correctly to the camera, after 100 tries and scrubbing metal from the lens body, it will eventually somehow will.
5. GoPro support is of course friendly but useless and keeps repeating their scripts almost like bots.
6. After spending 4 hours with GoPro support, uploading videos for them to prove DOA, they will take 2-3 weeks to exchange the faulty product.
Still thinking to upgrade because we are still in a Pandemic. If I purchase Hero 9 i dont think I'm gonna use it. Here in Philippines were still in Quarantine mode and no time to travel or atleast to go somewhere where I can use my new Gopro

I got the 6, 7, and 8.... but I think the 8 does everything I need vs what the 9 would provide. I got the 8 over the 7 for the gimble-like stabilization, linear 4k, 100mbs bitrate, and auto timewarp. I got the 7 over the 6 for stabilization at 4k60 and timewarp. *Now if the 9 had 4k120 and 5k60 I'd be SERIOUSLY considering it.* For now, the 6 is my karma cam, the 7 is my mounted/tripod cam, and the 8 is my primary/action cam. I wish the 7 would have had 4k60 linear for the karma drone or the 8 was karma compatible - I was counting on that when I got the Karma :/
Wow it's cool to hear people still fly the Karma these days. I flew it with the 7 and loved it when I had it.
@@DennisMeetsWorld Yep, well I bought it with the intent of being able to upgrade the lens with the updates of the GoPros but I guess that was foolish! Wide angle 4k is still awesome though and the Karma drone is still plenty capable.
@@Indpendent01 I fly a Mavic Air now (finally upgraded from a Spark) but the Karma is still my favorite drone. There's something truly special about having a gopro camera in the air. I wish we would've gotten a Karma V2 that was smaller, quieter, more reliable and had some obstacle avoidance. People can dream, can't they?
@@DennisMeetsWorld I completely agree with you and a great drone that is US made would be even better since there is so much backlash lately against Chinese tech companies - never know when DJI might just be limited or banned the way things are going.

goPro 9 is my first gopro ....the reason is its front screen as I have used Osmo Action also for that reason
Scheduled CAPTURE, the only 1 feature calling me for buying '9'. All the reasons against apply to me. I own '7'. Btw 9 is a great device, for sure.

Did they keep the same battery door as the 8? That is the one thing I hate about the Hero 8...the door attachment. It detaches way too easy. I do a lot of video in water with the chest harness and I have lost 3 battery doors to Davy Jones locker while dealing with batteries. Sometimes my Hero 8 would lose battery connection and I could open the door and pull the battery partially out and back in, and it would work...but the door pops off too easy and right to the bottom it goes.

Thanks for this overview. Like others, I've found the touchscreen to be laggy and unresponsive and hope GoPro will resolve in a firmware update. Otherwise it's a great piece of kit!

What happen if the front screen for some reason broke? Is the same as the hero 8 lens, you have to replace the entire camera. Is not worth the upgrade in my opinion.
Interesting to see they’ve taken the scheduled record from the GoPro labs features but there are still some missing. Any news on whether GoPro labs is coming to the 9?
I don’t know if everything will make its way over, but I Can definitely see them adding some new additions overtime via firmware updates
Sorry, but the Sony FDR X-3000 is still king in my book - the quality of the Hero 9 in low light just looks crap! (a friend of mine bought one)
I have a hero 8 and noticed a consistent ticking or static sound. Even when it’s stationary. Do you have a video that would address that? :)
hm I would not call a camera excellent which can't maintain a connection with a phone 2 m away, often can't connect and freezes frequently, is this solved in the 9? Does it have a 3.5 mic port?

I hope they make a Karma mini drone to go with this new hero so we can get some beautiful drone shots with it. Or someone figure out how to mount the thing to some cheap drones like holystone.
